My mom brought takeout home. Chicken tikka masala, saag paneer (where was the paneer? Just a couple of pieces), rice, and naan. The rice was plain white rice, I'm used to seasoned rice at Indian restaurants. It was also expensive, around $50 for 2 small containers and naan. Overall, I was underwhelmed. I like the food here, specifically for the lunch special they have. They give you an appetizer, 2 curries with a side of roti or naan with rice, and gulab jamun for dessert all for $13 or $14 depending if you get the vegetarian or the non-veg option. I got the non-veg option and got tandoori chicken for the appetizer, got at least 4 pieces of naan and rice with palak paneer and chicken tikka and the gulab jamun. I was really full by the end of the meal too, so worth it for the price. The service is great because their staff is so sweet and personable, and the owner is great if you want to order meal plans or want food for your house to take home. First visit. Food is generally flavorful. Chicken 65 biryani, veg samosas and naan were really good. Chicken Tikka Masala was typical, tasty but not the best ive had. The indo Chinese noodles were the least of our favorites as we get these elsewhere and these paled in comparison. They are saucier than we are used to, they use spaghetti noodles rather than angel hair which made them a bit thick. Sauce was tomatoey and chicken had a coating to it. Not bad just not what we are used to.. " Mom and pop " run so the service is as you would expect for that type restaurant. The interior is plain so not any ambiance really. If you are desperate to eat here, order ahead. I have been here for over an hour, in the sweltering hot, un air-conditioned restaurant, waiting for my to go order. The saag paneer texture was green liquid with cheese cubes in it, and tasted terrible. I also bought the house, special Hyderabadi biryani rice, and a lot of the rice was hard and uncooked. There were so many bone pieces in the chicken that I threw most of it away. Not only was it poor quality food, But the taste was not good on either of the items are ordered. The saag paneer was especially nasty. If I could give this place zero stars I would. There are other Indian restaurants in the area that are much better, but I thought I'd give this one a try because it had good ratings. Big mistake. read more

Desi Kitchen is a little hidden gem in a shopping strip, but the staff deliver on quality and service. The restaurant may be small, but the dining and decor gives off a comfortable atmosphere. The staff of Desi Kitchen are kind, attentive and patient. The prices are decent and I can tell that the staff here love their work. There's a big TV inside that plays music videos of Indian musical artists or videos beautiful scenery of India, it's quite relaxing. Desi Kitchen was where I tried Indian cuisine for the first time. You can pick the spice level for your dish too. I loved their samosas, Tikka Masala and Gulab Jamun. I can tell that the chefs take great pride on their cooking. They only use fresh, real ingredients. Never frozen, instant or reheated. I'd recommend Desi Kitchen to everyone I know. read more

The portions for to go were so small. Normally when we order to go we have plenty but there was only 7-8 small pieces of chicken and the rogan josh had greedy portions as well read more

Some of our group had had Indian cuisine previously, but for others it was our first time. We very much enjoyed it. We had (a) the Chicken Biryani, which even mild spice still had a decent kick to it for those with low spice tolerance, (b) the Chicken Tiki Masala and the Butter Chicken which were both fantastic for all of us; they were both great with the rice and Naan; we did like the Masala a touch more and couldn't stop eating the sauce with Naan; and (c) and the Chicken Tandoori was also very good. Ordered a large delivery order through the EZ Cater app. Ordered for 22 people. I requested individual packaging. I ordered Coconut Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Aloo Gobhi (vegetarian). Everything came as ordered. I personally ate both chicken dishes. I found the Coconut Chicken to have a better flavor and to be more spicy than the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both were very good. Every container was clearly labeled for identification. Everything was delivered on-time. I'll order from them again soon. I need to try them in the restaurant as a dine-in customer on my next trip. The food at Desi's Kitchen is always on point. We have never had a bad or mediocre dish. Our favorite is the butter chicken with garlic naan bread. As far as the ambiance, we've never eaten inside we always get it to-go. However, from what I've seen on the inside of the restaurant it has always been clean and service is friendly. read more

Months ago, I would've given Desi Kitchen five stars without any reservations, as their food is--was--truly delicious. They were always super busy, especially with takeout, and their service was mostly consistently good. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall, clearly a family-owned and -run restaurant, and not fine dining at all, but their excellent food kept calling us back over and over again for over a year. Today, we went back after a few months away and the food has changed. We ordered what we usually ordered: chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, butter and garlic naan; and we tried the chicken 65 this time. The food tastes off, compared to our many visits before. Either the chef has changed, or management has changed (I'm thinking the latter). I don't want to make it sound like the food is terrible--it's not. New customers might even think their food is awesome. As someone who has been there many times before, I am certain that something fundamental has changed with this restaurant, and not for the better. Also, the restaurant was very empty this evening, on a Friday night. And the service was pretty appalling. The young male waiters didn't seem to know how to be servers, and they didn't even know the dishes on their menu. Further, once they gave us our food, they never visited again, not even to refill water. I saw them on their phones. There was also an older woman in a corner booth--I assume the owner--who talked loudly on her cell phone for long periods of time. The bathroom situation, something I can overlook if the food is bomb (which it was), is not great. I saw at least two half-dead roaches next to the toilet. Not great at all. I am so disappointed that my favorite Indian restaurant in the Clear Lake-NASA-League City area has become this. Desi Kitchen was always a place that I highly recommended to friends and coworkers, but now I'd be a pretty crappy friend and coworker if I directed them to Desi Kitchen in its current state. This is my go to Indian restaurant anytime I want authentic flavor and great food. I always get the chicken tikka masala and the Hyderabad chicken curry. Both of these are great options, the chicken, tikka masala uses chicken breast, and the chicken, curry uses chicken thigh, so depending on the type of meat you want you can make your selection. The flavors are rich and deep, and it reminds me of eating at my best friends house. I love it. My only complaint is that whenever you get the food to go, sometimes you'll end up with a container full of sauce, and only a handful of chicken pieces, which is really disappointing for the cost, which is why I only gave it four stars. Every time I eat there I also have to get a Malai Kulfi, it's an Indian ice cream on a stick that is heavenly! I highly recommend you try it. Portion sizes were generous and I really appreciated the rice that came with the dishes and that they refilled us once. I've tried multiple Indian cuisines around the Houston area, BUT I have to say....this place is actually worth going for your casual night out for some quality Indian food at a $$ cost. Being the most typical American person, I always order the Chicken Tikka Masala meal. Sometimes other places make their chicken dry. Or too tender. Sometimes other places are too spicy that you can't even taste the flavor. Or sometimes the food comes out way too creamy and it can water down the natural spiciness. But this place got it balanced almost perfectly. I know I've only been here once, but it was really good. Their Nahn is also GINORMOUS. You might have to share it. I am willing to go again to try their butter chicken or their biryani! One thing that is a LITTLE lacking, is the vibes. I would try to "spice" up the atmosphere a little bit. read more

First time going here. We went in for a late breakfast. We had some samosa and we each got a dosa breakfast plate. It's a huge dosa, one large idly, and one Vada (a vada is kind of like a fried savory donut) . Served with some delicious chutney and a few other things that I don't know the name of, but it's all very good. The place gets your food out very quickly the wait wasn't that long at all. Had a mango lassi to go on the way out. It's like a mango and yogurt smoothie. Good stuff. Another awesome Indian restaurant that we'll be going to. read more

Swung by for lunch this Saturday and was sad to see the buffet isn't quite open yet. We're so close to the end of the pandemic folks! But I was reassured they would open the buffet up again in a few weeks or so, so I will definitely be back for that. Until then, I opted to order a la carte and went for samosas, chicken tikka masala, and the goat curry. First, our server was super chill and very friendly. He's only been there a month and has a great feel for the place and its customers. He made good recommendations and helped us with our picks. The food came pretty quickly and all came out delicious. Samosas were cooked just right and were sizeable. The curries had plenty of flavor and the goat fell off the bone. Only concern was how little meat there was to gravy, but in the end we were pretty full. Especially since they give you a giant bowl of rice to share. The taste is nicely balanced between creamy with the tartness of the tomato. The basmati represents basmati. The 2 samosas came hot and crispy-props to uber eats, although the menu says it comes with 3. Some kind of brown sauce came with my samosas and it tasted sweetly bland after having the masala. Another that also came in the samosa bag was a green sauce that tasted of mint and a lil spicy. Excellent food! The lady Desi is also the cook and she is friendly. I prefer it dry like a desi kitchen. It is spicy, but I tend to like spicy food. The idlys left a little to be desired. They tasted good but were broken and the Samber was very light... almost all broth. Butter naan was good, but it does not survive take out well and was a bit chewy once we got home. This Restaurants under new management so a few things have changed, and not for the better. I placed an online order at 8pm, food wasn't ready until 9:15pm. One of the chicken curries was more sauce than anything else. After the hour and 15 minute wait an item was also missing from the order so wasn't too happy about that.
