    Tandoori Chicken
    Michele S.

I love spicy food but this place emphasizes heat over flavor. That's a waste of calories for me. I ordered tandoori chicken without the rice and was served an unsatisfactory piece of chicken for the full price about $13. No, never again for me. I was so disappointed.

My daughter and I were looking for a Indian restaurant and we chose Biryani King, which is fairly new here in Pearland. Our waitress Noonrain was so helpful in choosing our foods, not knowing that much about the different taste. What we ordered was great, they have mild, spicey & very spicey, well we got the very spicy, yes, every few bites one has to take a sip of their drink, but the food was excellent, I would highly recommend this place. Thanks Rick A

    Garlic Naan of course!

I finally tried out Gurkhaas Grill and Bar today…read more I placed a pick up order for chicken curry, potato and peas samosas, and rasmalai. I pulled up directly in front of the restaurant. It's in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking even if you don't get one of the spots up front. It wasn't too busy when I arrived. I'm sure since I arrived after buffet hours. The buffet ends at 3pm but there's lots of room in the buffet area for tons of options. The restaurant is clean and pretty spacious inside. The young lady at the counter greeted me warmly and kindly rang me up for my rasmalai I added to my order upon arrival. The chicken curry was good. Not amazing or the best I ever had but I would eat it again. It came with rice. I'm always surprised when Indian restaurants charge extra for rice. The potato and peas samosas were big, crispy on the outside and nice and soft with potatoey goodness on the inside. They were absolute perfection when dipped into the tartly sweet chutney sauce. I concluded my meal with the rasmalai dessert that tasted of rose, condensed milk and pistachios. I just wished it had a little more bits of pistachio.

I inquired if they were going to have a full barn with a bartender and was told that they plan to start slow by just selling certain alcoholic beverages initially then overtime increase the number of items that are offered. I made my order to go so I could take pictures of my food before I forgot to take pictures. It seems that currently most of their business is takeout. Takeout business is brisk. I've seen three or four while waiting for my food to be prepared. In my opinion the Saag Chicken is prepared in the Southern style, in spite of what the manager said. My food is piping, hot and delicious. The server brought me a plate and silverware when he saw me opening my dishes. He returned with a glass or water also, I love this attention to detail it can make an average experience memorable. The interior could be more inviting with different furniture, making it more appealing. GN3

Everything came out quick and fresh, it was fantastic. We paired it with garlic naan and got two orders of that just so we didn't leave anything left in the bowls. We had actually started with a vegetable samosa which came out really tasty and had a nice spice to it. Very efficient, excellent service, and a clean facility. The biryani packed a good amount of spice, which I personally loved. The chicken tikka masala was decent but pretty standard. The paneer dish, though, was definitely unusual and had a flavor that felt a bit off on its own, but it worked better when paired with rice. Prices were a bit on the higher side, especially for a more casual, hole in the wall kind of place. Our waitress said we should try more unique dishes next time. Overall, it's a good restaurant with an interesting, fusion menu. I'd come back to try other dishes and see what else stands out.

We tried a lot of items on their menu: Pani puri Samosa chat Neer dosa ( of course) Vada pav Schezwan rice My fav was the Vada Pav. The Neer dosa was good too. They have a single table in table you want to sit, but I did see ppl take carry outs more often. A good initiative. A good and economically priced stop for Indian street food. Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!
