Where do I even begin with this company. From the moment I put down my deposit, I felt like I was dealing with children. At that point I was locked in and couldn't switch companies, which made the experience even more frustrating. It's honestly shocking that these individuals consider themselves professionals. Steve misrepresented what they could deliver and seemed to have little understanding of their own capabilities. Kim became extremely difficult to work with once I called out their inconsistencies, responding in a petty and unprofessional manner. And then there's Brad, the "COO," who presents himself as polished but ultimately comes across as completely unqualified and out of his depth. The only person who demonstrated any level of professionalism was Gary. To highlight just a few issues: the pool equipment broke during installation and instead of properly replacing it, they patched it. They caused an electrical issue in my home and denied responsibility, even though everything was functioning perfectly before their subcontractors worked on it. Their lack of understanding of inspection requirements ended up costing me an additional $3,000 out of pocket. I understand that problems can happen on any project. What made this experience so frustrating was their refusal to take accountability. Instead of addressing mistakes, they argued constantly and responded with childish, petty behavior. They will promise aggressive timelines during the sales process, but those promises are not reliable. Even setting that aside, dealing with such an unprofessional team simply isn't worth the headache. After the project was completed, my landscaper noticed moisture near the pool. Upon digging, we found water actively leaking underground. When Sebastian came out, he immediately denied responsibility and blamed the landscapers--even though I have camera footage clearly showing the landscapers had not even begun work when the leak was discovered. And even beyond the issues, the final product itself is unacceptable. After spending tens of thousands of dollars, the workmanship--especially the concrete--is sloppy and poorly executed. We had an awesome experience with Desert Soul. We reached out in February for a design consult, our contract was signed by mid March and our dig started April 8. We were swimming before Memorial Day! Everyone from Steve in Design to Amber in coordination, our project managers, etc were on top of everything. Trades were scheduled back to back and the crews were SO respectful, so clean and SO skilled! Pricing was comparable with the other 2 large builders I was quoted by but what really set them apart was Steve telling me my perfect pool plan wouldn't work. He cared more about doing things the right way rather than taking the money and me being unhappy in a few years. We are so happy with our new yard! read more

Other neighbors said not to use the other companies since they took so long. (close to a year) Desert Soul had a reputation for being fast. One neighbor said, only 2 months. Not that we were in a rush or anything, but I did think it would be nice to be swimming sooner than later. So, I gave them a call. We got on the schedule for a consultation within 2 weeks of my first call. Laione came out on time for the appointment. Great guy seemed smart and trustworthy. I told him what I wanted and a week later we go into the office for the full consultation with CAD drawings and mockups. Ill post them to this review as well. We were blown away. And my favorite thing was, I gave him my budget and he stayed exactly under it. I was definitely expecting for him to try and sell me on a ton of other things but he didn't. And when my wife wanted to save some more money off of the budget, he quickly and easily RE- DESIGNED to meet our needs. He recalculated easy and wasn't pushy about any decisions we were making on the spot. Once we agreed on a price, and shook hands, we were off to the races. Literally. We received our "clear to start" from our association on a Thursday afternoon. We let Desert Soul know and they immediately had us on the schedule for Monday morning. They seemed ready to go. My wife and I had never built a pool before, so our expectations were literally zero. But it seemed like they were eager to get going so we were thrilled. On August 14, DAY 1 of Construction. The hole was completely dug. From then on, EVERY SINGLE DAY there was someone on site working with a team of guys absolutely grinding. It was awesome coming home every day after work and seeing something new. Progress was made with each new day. It was truly incredible. We have been bragging about how good this company has been throughout the entire process. and 4 weeks later we have a pool. The pool as filled with water after the 4th week and the hardscape and turf was completed around the 5th week. One thing I hope is that this review doesn't lead anyone to create unrealistic expectations as far as a timeline goes. But I will say, If it takes longer for any future jobs, it is NOT because they aren't on top of thing. Whatever the reason is, I would believe them 10000 percent. The schedule they laid out was accurate from the beginning. The response time anytime I emailed them with questions was usually same day. I cannot stress this enough how good they were. The reviews are 100% true and I trust that any issues that may come up in the future will be addressed the same way. I didn't mention the quality but just look at the pictures. We knew we wanted a pool and also knew we had to do our due diligence to select the right company. After doing our research, looking at reviews and seeing many recommendations for Desert Soul, we knew this was the right pool builder for us. From the first call to schedule our initial meeting, which was about 4 weeks out, communication was professional, clear and concise. We met with Brad to go over everything and he was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. We put a deposit down on July 22, excavation started September 24 and our pool was filled November 11. We're still in shock it all was completed so quickly!! Throughout the entire process we received weekly updates, then daily communication as the project was wrapping up. Our project manager, Gary, was always very friendly, professional, thorough, patient and took his time to answer all our questions as were first time pool owners. Drew with Nexus Pool Care came out once our pool was filled to set-up our pool equipment and explained everything in detail. With everything during Covid being on back order, delayed or no longer available; Desert Soul was prepared and finished our project ahead of schedule. We had to make one minor modification because of inventory not being available, but we're happy with the substitution. After obsessive searching and extensive investigating- our family decided to work with Desert Soul Landesign to help us build an amazing new backyard. We worked with Laione to measure and design the pool, features, hardscape and landscape. He was easy to work with, had great communication and was flexible with his time. He designed the perfect "tropical" backyrd that we were hoping for! Our overall up-front experience with Desert Soul was fantastic- all questions were answered promptly and we they prepared us well for the build once we signed the contract. There were no surprises. Once the build began things got really exciting. We love that Desert Soul (DS) works with the same crews as it makes things easier to keep expectations in check. This means solid schedule and quality work each build. DS also has a quality control rep (hi Preston) who checks in regularly to ensure the build is moving along at the proper pace and with high quality of work. We felt the crew that built our waterfall feature was amazing- the level of detail they put into crafting a real-rock waterfall was fun to watch. I feel the price was very fair. We got a lot of bang for our dollar. High-end travertine stone, top tier pump/filter system, great plastering, and high end turf. It really made our decision easy. We were told early on that the average build takes around 4-6 weeks depoending on the size and compolexity of the job. Our pool and backyard design was right on the middle of that scale and our total build took about 8 weeks to finish. I will say that the extreme heat and excessive heat warning caused some understandable slow down through the project. I mean, we had average high temps well over 110 every single day. It said a lot to see these workers in this heat for 8+ hours per day getting things done. The final work was amazing- our family is so happy with the end result. It's beautiful- exactly what we wanted! We're so excited to use all of the space- from the outdoor social spaces for cooking and eating to the pool to the patio. The landscapers did an awesome job and we love all of the design features selected. Owner Gary was on-site many times and was always happy to have a conversation and check in. A genuinely good guy. His wife Michelle is the company's "glue" keeping all of the scheduling on point. We received regular emails from Michelle letting us know exactly what to expect each week, keeping any stress levels way down. Anytime we felt there was an "issue" with something it was easy to contact DS and get immediate attention. The issues were nominal but the point is that the DS team is always there to help address concerns and questions along the way. From the beginning excavation dig to the "pool school" ending, it was a seamless, low stress process. We were even given all the supllies to get us started- chemicals, pole with net and brush, etc. Just anice touch to end the process. Site was left super clean!!! If there was any problems Gary would fix it or redo it to make it right. Michelle coordinates all the scheduling and would contact you every week with what to expect. Then they express concerns over a permit requirement in Maricopa County. If you find a builder concerned about a building permit it says a lot about their quality and warranty. Very frustrated with this company. They just finished my pool, and they cracked the concrete under my AC unit and also my driveway. I emailed the company and they told me that they will not fix it and it's what to be expected. They also left a 7in gap between the pavers and my patio and said i was not offered a drain because they are very expensive and no one gets them and i should just put gravel there. I also felt as though this company took no accountability for these issues and it was always told it was "in the contract." However when the company rep Laione came out he was so laid back and very informative. He designed my pool and The process was laid out thoroughly verbally and in writing.
