The staff here was so friendly! We were running late from watching sunset nearby and they were still waiting happily for us to get our table! Coming from New York (where they can and will give up your table if you are five minutes late) it was so refreshing for them to welcome my party and let us know we are now on Utah time! The waitress went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and taken care of, and also shared some information about Moab and Utah with us. The ambiance in the restaurant was also amazing and warm! Such a beautiful spot. The food was what really made this place though! Everything was so fresh and delicious! I had the chicken cous cous dish and you absolutely must try the bacon wrapped dates. I know that good food can be super hard to come by in Moab, with so many tourist spots serving absolute junk. GO TO DESERT BISTRO for the amazing meal you deserve after a long day of hiking and adventuring :) read more

Meh. Scallops were good, not great. Salad was ok but was expecting some great dressing, instead could barely taste it. Fish special with wasabi was pretty bland. I was expecting something yummy and flavorful. My wife got tenderloin medium. The waitress recommended medium rare but that's too rare for my wife. It came medium rare. My wife can't have much garlic and they couldn't substitute so they put the garlic mashed potatoes on the side and she got a side of crispy potatoes. The mashed potatoes came cold so I only had a small bit. The crispy potatoes were great. Best part of meal with the sauce on the tenderloin. read more

This place is more about the show and less about the food and service. We had a reservation and show up right on time. We were told to sit off to the side and someone would get to us. No niceties, just told to wait. We waited 20 minutes with people walking by and no one said a word, not a smile, not even a nod. Finally we were seated on the front patio, not a very nice atmosphere. The people seated next to us were obviously regulars and they brought their dog. Well, the dog got loose and the next 20 minutes were about the husband finding the dog and the wife sitting next to us crying in worry. I don't mind having a dog in a restaurant, especially on a patio, but no, I'm not leaving my $200 romantic meal to get cold while I hunt for your barking, badly behaved dog. Poor pooch, not it's fault. Onto the meal, service was so so, they changed our server in the middle of the meal because a large party was seated in the main restaurant. We had salads, the agnolotti, beef tenderloin and cheesecake. Our wines were the Elk Cove Pinot and Rancho Zabaco. Everything was good, nothing was memorable, except the dog. read more

This place was to die for! I got the pork tenderloin and it was incredible. The service is great and the food is even better. I ate every single piece of food on this plate! I usually end up with leftovers at a restaurant but not this time. Seriously, best meal I have ever had! I end up going to Moab for work a few times a year and I am so stoked to come back and go to this restaurant again! Totally recommend if you're in town! read more

If you feel like a gourmet dinner after exploring Arches National Park and can afford the price tag (it's totally worth it, especially sheltering at home for this long), Dessert Bistro is the place to go in Moab, UT. Bison file (big enough to share) and peach wild berry crisp were the stars of the show, but tuna (flown in on ice, never frozen) was up there, too. Service and ambience were on point as well. Lemon sole was OK but nothing special, would not order it again, the best part about the dish was freshly made pineapple-strawberry salsa and pistachio crust. read more

Our hostess really rattled off every ingredient and its origin so the staff is quite trained... but after eating here it just sounds like overcomplicated food without any joy. We needed more greens on our trip so we shared two of the salads, which were satisfactory, and the mushroom agnolotti: which came in this vinegary broth which we did not enjoy. read more

We slipped in early without a reservation, (which is recommended) seated within 15 minutes. The homemade bread you could smell the moment it was served, warm, inviting, with a fresh rosemary butter or olive tapenade. Simple, fresh and delicious. Our server Beth was friendly, engaging, truly an excellent, professional waitress as she shared the fish specials and Bison that was on the menu for the evening. We started with the beet salad, and bacon wrapped dates. We had the pork tenderloin and beef with encrusted Gorgonzola cheese, that was cooked to perfection and delicious. Easily the best food in Moab. read more

If you are hiking and camping in Moab, you'll want to clean up before going here. Classy place with prices to match. To Start + Bread was awesome- warm with some addictive spreads to go with it. + Beet and goat cheese tower was pretty, but a small portion + Caesar salad with cornbread croutons, good with a southwest style dressing. + Pear salad- meh- not very exciting, not very filling + Mahi mahi special- cooked well, but I didn't care for the sweet sauce they served it with + Vegetarian option was a qunioa/black bean dish that also came with an oddly sweet sauce. Friendly servers, ok food, but not a place we would return to. read more

We were so looking forward to our vacation "splurge" meal at Desert Bistro, but were less than "whelmed". We enjoyed the appetizers more than the entreés, to be sure, and should have quit while we were ahead. I did, especially, enjoy the Chipotle Caesar Salad, it was fresh and crispy and cool. The Scallop appetizer was fun and inventive. I liked the Ceviche Tostada appetizer... I think it was a "special", but it was lacking in the ceviche department. The entreés were heavy and loaded with what seemed like a lot of distracting ingredients. I ordered their fresh fish special (similar to Branzino), but I left everything else behind on the plate, after tasting....the bed of ingredients seemed a mismatch for the delicate white fish. Dinner turned out to be too heavy to leave us room, or desire, for dessert so you'll have to save a little room, have dessert and report back, if you go. read more

You're probably looking up this restaurant as you realize the (good) dining options are limited in Moab. Look no further. If you are looking for a good dining experience, this is it. The menu offers just the right amount of options that cater to a variety of palates and dietary preferences without being overwhelming. Everything from the bread service (baked to order) to the dessert course was excellent compared to other offerings in town. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Two criticisms: (1) wine selection is diverse, but does not offer anything unique. It's difficult to justify getting a Justin Cabernet here for a 4x markup compared to a grocery store down the street. (2) Food temperature was not as good as it should be (e.g. salad was somewhat warm; main course was a little under temperature). Overall, this is the best meal you'll find in town. read more

This is probably one of the top five restaurants at which I've ever eaten. Located in a fairly small building in Moab that might have started life as a residential house, the desert bistro enompasses a small bar area, small indoor dining area and two external dining areas. The rear patio is spacious and a wonderful place to dine. The front patio features three or four small two-seat tables and overlooks a street and a motel parking lot. We made a reservation online and were seated quickly upon our arrival. Every one of the restaurant employees with whom we interfaced was extremely professional and very good at their jobs. All of the menu items sounded delicious and were actually fairly complicated creations. On the evening when we dined there our server gave us a fairly long and involved and very good explanation of the evening specials, which included three fresh fish dishes that had been flown in from Hawaii. After taking our drink orders and deciding what we would have as entrees, our server brought us warm homemade brown bread with three different enhancements to accompany the bread. These included Rosemary honey butter, homemade olive tapenade and an oil mixture featuring pumpkin seed oil. All of these were outstanding and the bread was phenomenal. My wife and I both loved our main courses. She tried a wasabi encrusted Hawaiian sea bass and I had a perfectly cooked pork tenderloin with an apple Chipotle reduction. Seriously, if you are in Moab Utah, get a reservation at this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. read more

This restaurant is so very good. The service is spectacular. The bread with some lovely toppings was delicious. A wonderful surprise in an otherwise mundane dining area...Moab may be great for adventure but not so much for food experiences...except for Desert Bistro. We found the service to be top notch and the food to be creative, diverse and well executed. Great drink and wine list as well. And the ambiance was comfortable and tasteful. A solid five stars, especially considering the remote location read more

Nice dining room off the Main Street in Moab. The elk shank and bison tenderloin were both wonderful. Attentive service. Highly recommend.

We were seated in the covered patio with outdoor ambient temperatures in the mid 50's. We were seated at the table against the building and closest to the patio gate. It is right under the gas powered overhead heater and specifically under the main burner for the unit. Shortly after we were seated at 6:30 pm they switched on the heaters and from what I am told they are "all or none." It generated so much heat that I literally could not focus on my meal. When I asked about this they turned it off for five minutes but then it went back on. I have never been more hot for any meal in my life. At the end of the dinner they bring you a couple chocolates. The heat rendered them flattened and runny in a couple minutes. It's a shame the thermal management was so intolerable because the appetizers and salads were excellent. The main courses were just good and the lemon ice was more gummy than what lemon ice should be. The front of the house was efficient, polite, and well run. Use caution if you are seated on the patio though. Do not sit under the main burner located at the patio door end of the patio. read more

For my birthday dinner, we decided to try this cozy place. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items -- able to answer all questions. We started with a ground pork and roasted pepper stuffed piece of filo, toasted to a golden brown sitting in a roasted pepper sauce. Fantastic! Our server steered me toward my final choice of the grouper. It was over a bed of sticky rice with micro greens and delicious wasabi sauce but it wasn't super spicy. It was, however, delicious. My dining partner had the bacon wrapped bison fillet with a gorgonzola crust, garlic mashed potatoes and snap peas. It was cooked perfectly and also and outstanding meal. It was a fantastic birthday dinner for my visit. If you come to Moab, make a reservation here, it is tops in town for me. read more

4.5 stars. The best restaurant near a national park to which we have been. They have an outside patio (great for May timeframe) and inside seating. The dishes are prepared expertly, with the freshest ingredients flown in (fish from Hawaii or Australia) or hand selected (bison from Colorado), with a southwestern flair (chipotle, spices, smoky). We came here 2 nights out of our 5 nights near Moab, because we couldn't find anything that came close to it. Our top dishes: Bison wrapped in bacon with vegetables - the bison meat is super tender and kept moist in the bacon. Brilliant execution. Ahi tuna special - ahi tuna (flown in from Hawaii) crusted in sesame seed, with a sauce that was slightly spicy. Excellent. The grilled duck breast was pretty good but not exceptional. The scallops were solid as well - especially liked the spicy chipotle lemon beurre sauce. Salads are complementary with entrees - the house salad was beautifully presented, encased in thinly sliced cucumber. For wine, the Jadot Beaujolais from 2013 was fantastic value, a whole bottle for $35. The rioja half bottle ($35) also pairs well with meaty dishes. read more

First of all, I would recommend coming here for some of CrisPy's sizzly sass. I was served it immediately upon being seated. When Neek and I arrived (before the other 4 members of our party), I asked Crispy what the specials were that day. Chris P was all like, "I am busy, so let me save time by reciting the specials in one fell swoop when the rest of your party arrives." RESPEK to waiters who want to be resourceful -- i get it. So I patiently awaited the arrival of the rest of my East Coast Elite Frontier (ECEF). The ECEF was surprisingly only 10 minutes late. Once they arrived, we all promptly asked Crisp P. about the wine/drink selection. While we deliberated, Chris P seemed pretty exasperated and told us that he was "really busy," and eagerly traipsed away to attend to the other two tables at Desert Bistro. OK. this. was. getting. rude. So when Chris P came back to get our drink orders and recite the specials menu to us, I requested that C be nice since we were tryna fine dine and Chris was not interested in being his finest. I asked C about the fish which he explained was flown in fresh daily (from Hawaii or Chile..?). Since my carbon footprint sucks already anyways, I jumped on the opportunity to try some fish in the desert. It was fine. I would definitely not order it if I were to return. I think this was the consensus from all the other basic b's in my group (three b's, three fishes, one Hawaii fish and two of Chile's finest fishys). The real tasty treat (which I would definitely recommend) was the pork tenderloin. I didn't get to eat too many bites of it, but the bites I did eat were cooked to Chrispy's perfection. Some major takeaways from Desert Bistro are: 1. Chef likes to repurpose some ingredients. Mainly chèvre, snap peas, and salsa. 2. Chris P has a side gig. 3. The honey whole wheat bread is worth it even if you are gluten free. That's all -- three stars for Ravenclaw. read more

When first looking at the menu for Desert Bistro, I was a bit worried that it was smaller and had very different-sounding items. But this wound our being one of the best meals we had in a while! Everything from the homemade bread to the pumpkin ravioli to the homemade cheesecake was above and beyond expectations. I had the chicken and my husband had the bacon wrapped bison fillet and they were both perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was fantastic as well. One of the best dinners we've ever had. You will need a reservation. We were greeted by the nice hostess, Michelle and seated in the quaint patio. Our wonderful server was well versed, truly pleasant and professional. We had a warm wheat bread along with the three amazing spreads (herbed butter, tapenade and balsamic vinaigrette). Each dish is well prepared and presented with an artistic touch. We started with the Cesar salad with cornbread croutons and red/yellow beets with the herbed goat cheese, in which we indulged every bite of this. Our entrees were the pork tenderloin with a reduced apple relish and a crispy potato galette that was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the house made stuffed mushroom agnolotti in a light broth with a variety of mushrooms accompanied the dish. We enjoyed savoring each bite. For dessert, it was a birthday celebration and we ordered the blackberry puff pastry with hand whipped cream with a few strawberries. You could see how the dessert was delicately put together. If you're a foodie, treat yourself to Desert Bistro, you'll enjoy the entire experience. read more

From my experience, most towns that neighbor national parks lack great restaurants. I was proven wrong with Desert Bistro during my visit to Moab. Everything from the service to the wine menu to the food is great. Zero complaints. I love how for their specials, they fly in their meat or fish in fresh and not frozen. When we dined, we had the sea bass special and it was so delicious! The fish was so tender that it literally melted in our mouths. That dish was the highlight of our meal followed by the lamb chops! Celebrated a special day here. The food was great (presentation and taste). Although the lamb was overcooked for my taste (near well-done). As far as the location goes, there were three tables in the front (?) of the restaurant, we were one of these three tables. We had a great view of a motel where busses were coming into and leaving and a gravel parking lot. For the ambiance, I recommend sitting in the main dining area instead. read more

Amazing dinner experience - fine dining in Moab without having to dress up! Desert Bistro incorporates local ingredients and even flies in fresh fish for their menu. Reservations are highly recommended; we luckily called 4 days in advance for Friday night dinner because there were only 3 spots left for the evening. The food was amazing overall - a great way to have a splurge meal on our Moab trip. We started with the bacon wrapped dates - the smokiness and saltiness of the bacon was nicely complemented by the creaminess of the chèvre and the sweetness of the date. For entrees, we chose the specials: 1) Colorado elk which was cooked at a perfect medium rare and complemented by a rich sauce with a side of potatoes and asparagus, and 2) lemon snapper flown from Hawaii which was crusted in pumpkin seeds and came with a corn salsa and side of wild rice pancakes and asparagus - a very interesting, savory, and tasty take on a fish dish. We ended with the Bailey's cheesecake which was so light, came with berries, and had a delicious crust. If you're in the mood for cocktails, definitely try their mojito - it was so refreshing with fresh lime juice and mint! We enjoyed sitting outside in the back patio (for COVID times, it felt very safe with good spacing between tables and masks). We wish we had come here sooner because there is still so much we want to try! Definitely a must if you have a special occasion! read more
