I come to Deseret once a week, or at least every two weeks. This is my meditation. On some days I leave with nothing, on some I spend my whole month thrift budget. Deseret is great go to for basics. Need some new jeans, a blazer, mens shirt, etc? I always check here first because they have a large array of things & sizes. My guy is tall, so we have a harder time. I also always check for blankets & fabric, as well as office supplies. Yep, for my home office. The outside area is an adventure, you never know what you will find. A few weeks ago I came for shorts and found a painting! I used to find great clothes, but sadly Deseret is getting so much "plastic" donations. Shein is taking over. I sew, so I would always find some great pieces to alter to my size & liking. The mens section is still good, but the womens is thin. Parking is always easy. The store is very clean, and Managers are very approachable for questions & pricing (the ladies, the men always seem stressed out and not so approachable. Just my opinion). The prices have gone up a little, but are still very good. My daughter lives in LA, and we always stop in when she is here. A Sacramento gem. read more

QUESTION: There were a lot of woman employees but every single one was wearing a hijab. different colors and races but all in this uniform. Is this a standard/uniform requirement for this business now? The service was not good the last time I went. The employees were not very friendly . The woman that checked me out wanted me to tell her how much each of my items were (and I had a good amount of things) instead of looking herself and doing it like a normal cashier. I typically like this thrift store. I like the amount of items and price and quality. read more

My new favorite thrift store, they actually have dressing rooms and have a good selection of clothing that is well organized. Goodwill took away their dressing rooms so they are moving down on my favorites list. I love the way Deseret Industries organizes their clothing. I can quickly look for dresses. There is a rack by size of solid color dresses. Another rack of printed dresses and a Third rack of sleeveless dresses. I looked at all 3 racks today and come out with 4 dresses. I tried on several more, but only 4 went home with me. They are all washed and in my closet already. Next I went for tops. I was on the hunt for tops for work, so I passed on the short sleeve T-shirt rack, the sleeveless blouse rack, and settled on the short sleeve blouse rack. I brought home 2 blouses. Next I went to the athletic wear bottoms and found a pair of black biking shorts. Lastly I looked at cardigan sweaters on the sweater rack. There is a separate rack for sweatshirts and another rack for jackets. I was looking for light cardigan to wear over my short sleeve blouses at work. By that time I was out of time and had to go. Sorry there aren't more pictures to show all the nice clothing I looked at. They also had a good selection of shoes, I pictured some sparkly shoes that I fell in love with, but didn't get. I didn't have time to look at their kitchen wares, furniture, purses, books, toys, puzzles, electrical appliances, and much more. If you are looking for deals and a dressing room this is your place. It wins over the many other second hand options in the area. Just note they are not into antiques or vintage if that is what you are looking for. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an experience my mother and I had during our visit to Deseret Industries on Saturday, May 23. My mother and I have a longstanding tradition of visiting your store every week. We gather items to donate and enjoy shopping together as part of our regular mother-daughter outing. We have been loyal customers and donors for many years, dating back to before the store's expansion. During this visit, I selected several purses from the same display area. All of the bags were similarly priced, ranging from approximately $4 to $5. Unfortunately, one fabric crossbody bag had lost its pricing sticker by the time I reached the register. I explained to the cashier that the bag had been displayed alongside the others and that it had originally been marked with a sticker. I also made it clear that I was not concerned about the exact price and would have gladly paid the same amount as the comparable bags I was purchasing. The cashier informed me that the item could not be sold without the sticker. Finding this unusual, I requested to speak with a manager. I explained the situation to the manager, including that the bag had been taken from the same location as the other purses and had been marked when I selected it. Despite this explanation, he refused to sell the item. I then asked whether the bag could be held so I could return for it once it had been repriced. This request was also denied. Instead, I was told I would need to return on Tuesday and attempt to locate the item again. I was surprised by this response. At no point have I seen a posted policy stating that merchandise will not be sold if a pricing sticker becomes detached. This situation could have been resolved easily through basic customer service and reasonable discretion. Instead, I was met with repeated refusals and no attempt to assist. Ironically, after returning home, I discovered that the missing sticker had adhered itself to another purse I had purchased. However, based on the manager's position, this apparently would not have mattered because the sticker was no longer attached to the crossbody bag itself. I would encourage management to review customer service expectations with front-line staff and supervisors. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, I understand the importance of policies, but I also recognize the value of problem-solving and treating customers with respect. Additionally, because these items are donated merchandise, it may be worth considering more secure tagging methods for purses and fabric items rather than relying solely on adhesive stickers that can easily detach. I appreciate the work Deseret Industries does within the community, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. I hope this feedback will be taken into consideration to improve future customer interactions. read more

Quite literally this is a huge thrift store! It's located out by all the car dealerships in Sacramento .They have a huge parking lot to be honest. It was a little overwhelmed with how big this place was however, I did find a treasure if you have the time to look through so much stuff I would say check this place out. They have everything HomeGoods decor, candles anything you can think of they also have a huge selection of used electronics they have a place that you can test them out and plug them in. I thought the prices were pretty fair and the people working were very nice ! Happy thrifting! read more

We stopped into Deseret Industries to browse and see if we could find some gems. The parking lot is large and when you walk in it's well organized. They have a large area dedicated to clothing and it's organized by type and color. They also have an area with homegoods, furniture, some electronics, and then an outdoor area that has sports equipment, decorations, toys, and some art. This is the type of place that you'll want to take your time, look around, and it may be hit or miss when it comes to finding things. The prices seemed fair, but again it can be hit or miss. I laughed when I saw a Lazi Cow boba glass cup for $2. A solid stop if you're looking for some deals on staples, things around the house, or some items that are hard to find now. read more

I brought my sister here for thrifting some clothing. She wanted some flannel shirts for a new style she's trying out, grunge meets Hawai'i...my sister has been living on the big island this past year and has been influenced by the Hawai'an cowboy and hunting scenes. Anyway, my sis is very colorful and fun to hang out with so we decided to go here and she scored three very nice shirts in her desired fabric for low prices. The clothing was in very nice shape and was arranged by style, for example they had a nicely organized ladies jeans section. I stuck to the housewares and book sections and perused furniture. The book section was large but fyi about 25% of the books were LDS religious books. The other book selection seems really heavily screened so nothing inappropriate would be found. Not that I was looking, but it felt like this was not going to be the place to get your Harry Potter books. But the prices were great, I got two hardcover cookbooks for $5. The Romney family cookbook was one I've never heard of but my rule Is if two-three of the recipes are such that I aim to make it right now, I'm sold. The housewares were aplenty but many of the items looked very worn and used. I don't find used items worn to that degree at Goodwill, for example. However, if you needed to set up home from scratch on a low budget this could be a good option. They had linens and curtains as well, all nicely arranged and displayed. This store was very busy on a Saturday! It is also a very big store, and it's right next to Maita Subaru. They also had a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy guarding the store exit/entry so it felt secure. North Sac. IYKYK. It's not my favorite thrift store, but it had pluses and should be on your list if you like thrifting. read more

For a thrift store, this place is highly organized with reasonable prices! Their housewares selection is also very good. I came here once because my neighbor was thinking of buying a baby grand piano and she wanted me to come and play it to see how it sounded. (She decided against it, but they sometimes have a decent selection of pianos.) I like browsing because you never know what you'll find. I found an almost new pair of Dansko shoes here once for $5! Have also purchased work skirts and summer shorts. Deseret is one of the few thrift stores that still offers changing rooms. The clientele trends towards young families and when I've been here there is usually a Sacramento Sheriff on the premises. I don't know if this means that law enforcement likes to thrift during their time off, but I'd rather have them here than not. read more

I've been to a lot of thrift stores in the Sacramento area and I gotta say Deseret is the best. No questions asked. They've got quite a large and organized selection (by size and garment type) paired with a spacious location. They are ADA friendly, and also offer excellent customer service. We purchased a dining set which they held for us on Saturday afternoon until the end of Monday (because I believe they are closed on Sunday). The helpful employees made it super quick and easy to pickup. Deseret Industries also may be one of the last reasonably priced thrift stores on Earth. No kidding. They have a collectibles section, but everything in the general area is under $10. Thank God! If you're a thrifting fan, definitely give this place a try! You can consistently rely on Deseret Industries to keep up decent thrift stores in local; communities. I can usually find something when i am here. The prices are reasonable. The sizes aren't always organized so it's good to check adjacent sizes to find things. To me, it's a better version of Goodwill - run by Mormons who staff their stores with an army of staff and offer better prices. This large store also has a large and accessible parking lot. They scored an extra point for having insight restrooms. I wish they would offer additional discounts like a senior discount or offer reductions for featured tags. read more

This store is massive! I was in the area and have heard a lot about this store, so I decided to give it a shot. Walking in I was immediately greeted by the security at the front and there was one cashier. Now, if you are a speed thrifter, this is not the store for you. They have circular racks with all the sizes repeated throughout. So, you can't go to one section or row to look for your size, you have to cull through 15-20 racks. Slightly maddening as they have so many clothes. Some racks are color coded, some are a hodge podge of things. I think they are trying to be organized, but it's more of organized chaos. The sizes are mostly in the right place and they had a gal on the floor stocking. The experience here would be improved greatly if they just had racks with specific sizes, like full 3 racks of medium shirts rather than scattering small sections in 10 different places. Note, lots of (IMO) older lady type "Sunday" dress clothes. Now, here's where they stand out, the pricing is true thrift and what it should be! Everything I was looking at was priced $4 or $6. I'm talking work slacks, nice shirts, t shirts, jeans, and sweaters. Shoes, housewares, and purse sections were unimpressive, but well organized. They must be more a clothing type donation place. My cashier was nice, but they do that "roll your clothes and shove them into the bag" thing, instead of a simple fold. This is my pet peeve. I know, small detail, might not mean anything to you, but to me it just makes sense and is better customer service. All in all, great store, you might find some good brands priced nicely, but bring your patience, as it's a true hunt. Oh, and there is ample parking! read more

In preparation to move from Sacramento to Arizona I am severely downsizing the contents of my home. I contacted several thrift stores and charitable organizations to donate the items I am parting with. Several want to pick and choose which donation they want. I consider this an insult! The largest thrift store chain and others are for profit only: Not a penny goes to charity. I discovered that Deseret Industries is Very welcoming and accepts donations without questions AND I know the donations will be used to help people. So far I have delivered 3 truckloads to them with more to be delivered! read more

This is by far my favorite place for thrift shopping, especially for clothing. From the clean and organized presentation to friendly staff and low prices, this place is a must see. What sets this thrift store apart from others is how clean and organized it is. There is no stale scent or hint of mildew in the building or in the clothing. It's as if you can wear something off the rack! Even more, the huge selection of clothing is not just separated by size, and type of clothing (such as sweater, short sleeve, printed, solid), but colors grouped together like a rainbow. Additionally, the furniture, houseware and outdoor departments were equally clean and organized and with quality items. The prices are lower than most thrift stores. I bought a couple dresses and a few tops at a bargain, and my friend bought a quality suit for $12!!! Very impressive! Bottom line, if you are live shopping and finding excellent deals, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed!!! The service was amazing. **During Quarantine Review: April 2021** Wow this store is enormous! I honestly thought I was at Target or Marshalls, because this place was very clean, spacious and organized just like those big box stores. The majority of items are dontated goods; however, a number of racks did have new with tag items (I suppose because those stores were downsizing or closing down?). Regardless, there were a LOT of racks to scroll through. The bulk of goods were obviously women and children's cloths in the center of the store. In the back is where all the casual and formal dresses were and they had a pretty substantial amount of wedding dresses (if you're in the market). The shoes/boots were also located near the dresses. On the left side of the store were all the mens clothing and the right had homegoods and misc items. On my visit most of the donations were from affordable/mid-tier brands. Lots of solid colors and I guess you could say conservative, as opposed to loud bling-ed out garments. Regardless, if you're looking for work clothes or foundation pieces I'm confident you can find something here. read more

Staff here are nice, but do not offer much service, then again, it is a thrift store treasure hunt! It is a clean thrift store. They know how to organize. If I cannot find made in USA, I will opt for recycled. Then again sometimes recycled is optimal. I find amazing blouses and shirts here that reap constant compliments. Need camping utinsels, pans and silver? Books. Save your eyes, read or use reference books. Specialty items, out on the back patio, they usually have a good selection of furniture. Craft? Not amazing, but not bad. This feels like a super large goodwill. The stuff that is going to be shipped off if it doesn't get picked up. The prices aren't bad, they're reasonable. I found a pair of black checkered vans sneakers today and they were priced at six dollars, which is very reasonable, but they had written on the sides of the soul on the white side that you can see part with black permanent ink so I asked for the manager to see if they could take it off before I purchase because I have previously bought shoes here with the same black marker andI haven't been able to take it off at home. I have tried every possible chemical unable to get permanent marker off and she proceeded to tell me that I didn't have to buy them and it was OK because they would be shipped overseas to people in need. So there is no big deal . OK number one charity begins at home . I would like to be able to buy a pair of shoes that don't have permanent marker on them and her condescending tone was quite unfortunate. I don't think the members that are running the LDS would be OK with tossing away revenue and I just don't believe that for one minute. and again, charity begins at home. I think you guys need to get your act together and find another way to mark these shoes that is removable because I will not shop there. I found a file cabinet I wanted and dealt first with a friendly male employee who helped explain the hold and pick up process, then the cashier was super nice, and when I came to pick up the unit, the two gentlemen who helped us were efficient, careful with our goods, and very kind! Before I give my review on this thrift store I'd like to say that this establishment is very clean and super organized. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a young short Asian miss who made me feel very welcomed with her smile and sweet tone of voice. Ok so, this thrift store is very organized. I appreciate the hard work and dedication the employees do in order to keep the store nice and tight, if it was anything like GoodWill I would have felt really overwhelmed. The employees were really nice and friendly which made me feel comfortable shopping there. Lastly, although I didn't find any clothes that I liked or fit, I was still able to find glassware, bamboo cooking spoons, and fridge magnets that literally are so cute for a total of 5 dollars. After living in Arden Arcade for 2.5 years, I finally made it in here. I'm very glad that I did! Note that it doesn't exactly look like a thrift shop from the street. More like an industrial building. Deseret Industries is very well organized. No other thrift shop I've been to has impressed me as much as DI. Clothes hang on nice metal hangers. Clothing items aren't crowded on the racks. There's plenty of space between the racks, too. All clothing were in very good condition. Prices were excellent. Everything had a price tag! I walked out with 2 shorts and 2 tops for $9! One pair of shorts were Adidas brand and just $2! The fitting rooms were spacious. It had a chair to sit on, a full length mirror, and the floors were clean. Almost no clothing lingering from the previous customers. Refreshing! Speaking of refreshing... The clothes smelled nice. This is becoming my favorite thrift store in our area. Partially because so many have closed or are closing and partially because it's a very clean, well-organized store. It has a good stocked of items and the prices are pretty fair. When I go into a thrift store it is primarily for cookbooks, but I may that the time to shop for bargains. I bought a Calphalon Cookware stockpot that was like new for $4 or $5 once. Another thing I like is it is well-staffed with helpful people. read more

Pros: organized, especially in the store. The outdoor is a lot messier. Well-priced. HUGE selection. Price: priced well for most items. Lots of clothing items are $2-6. lots of great framed artwork for less than $10 with a big selection. Lots of electronics priced well. Saw a shark steam mop for $5 & another for $15 (but without the cloth pads). Saw 2 people buying air conditions (or evaporative coolers?) that were working. Didn't see the price but the lady seemed eager to buy it. Cons: some items were overpriced. Don't forget to visit the outdoor (no AC) area for more items!!! Overall Would visit again, feel I can find items I'll like. read more
