I popped into Upscale Thrift today to look for a few casual shirts. Nice and helpful staff, lots of fun things for sale at very reasonable prices, and very well organized. Lots of interesting housewares, clothing, shoes, jewelry, knickknacks, etc. Clothing is easy to look through due to their thoughtful way of hanging - everything in good condition and marked clearly on racks by category and size. Awesome selection of vintage items, including clothing, linens, etc. Someone was using a clothing steamer to touch up an article of clothing before hanging it on the racks. Check it out! read more

My friend and I checked out Upscale Thrift while she was in town a couple of weeks ago - thrift shopping is one of our favorite things to do together! This was my first time visiting Upscale Thrift and it is located near Freeport and Broadway. I loved this thrift store! I came in looking for something specific, which they unfortunately did not have, but I did end up finding a really nice glass bowl and glass jars for my sourdough bread baking era! They had so many beautiful glass items plus clothes, toys, jewelry, etc. Staff were very friendly and even let me know about their other location that might have had the specific items I was looking for. Most of the items were fairly priced - I even bought a fun pair of sunglasses for my daughter for like $5! If you like thrift shopping, I would definitely suggest checking out Upscale! read more

Service was friendly. Prices are quite reasonable for some things. I found several beer pint glasses that I was looking for. I was also looking for a desk lamp and while they had some, they didn't have one I wanted. There are a few interesting dish sets, shoes, and clothing. Not much by way of furniture that I could see. so i've driven by here multiple times and i have a bunch of winter clothes i want to donate. there's a sign that says they donate them or homeless or something, so finally i compile all my items and decide to go in before a spin class. Okay i walk in and up to the counter and tell the man i want to donate clothes. everyone is staring at me like im an alien, he takes my reusable bag along with the clothes, asks no questions and doesn't tell me a single thing other than do i need a receipt ? i'm like are these clothes even going to help anyone? or are they going to get marked up there? ugh i wish i donated them to a church. anyone else have experience donating here? read more

I had driven by this shop many times and loved the varying mannequin ensemble changes, but never stopped in. There's nothing like having a 20 year old live with you (my 20 year old sibkid who goes to college in Sacramento) to broaden your horizons. This very stylish one lives to thrift so we set out on a thrifting day. I remembered this nearby shop so it was our first stop. They didn't find exactly what they wanted clothing wise, but said there was a good selection but not what they wanted in their size. I, on the other hand got a mock Egyptian wall frieze and an Irish box for my dad. It was such a fun and welcoming shop to browse in. They have clothing, decor, accessories, jewelry, and home items. All at good prices. A lot to cover in a relatively small footprint, I will definitely be back! read more

A charming little place to shop for treasures. My bestie just bought a new house recently and was on a continued mission for furnishings, odds, ends, and such this past weekend. I haven't been physically shopping for much of anything in months and thought why not show this small business some love before things possibly shut down again? Turns out we had a good time! There were a lot more than clothes in there, too (as it appears from the street, pink walls and clothes). I'd been in before but totally didn't remember the back room with home goods! She found some kitchen items, and I found some pretty triangular turquoise earrings for $3, which I didn't need, and a tablecloth and wallet, which I very much did. The wallet was only $10 for leather in good condition. We were both pleased with the selection and prices on average. It seems to be a place where thought is put into each piece on the floor, and I appreciate that. Employees are friendly enough, and take their time ringing up the items. I liked how old school the check out process was, but I wouldn't come here in a hurry. Parking behind this store is not well marked. It might be ok to park there it might not. We chanced it. There is also street parking of course, with Sunday exceptions so watch out for that if you come on a Sunday. There was something else cool I found that I'll be back for, for that special someone's birthday. I can't say just in case. ;-) A good spot to come if you're looking for a unique gift. read more

Great selection and prices! I'm an avid thrifter and love the $2 rack outside, plus the 50% color tag options. Prices were very fair, even for high end brands, and the store was well organized and displayed, which is rare for such good pricing in a thrift store. Employees were friendly and helpful, and I didn't see any of the overused/damaged products that can be common in thrift shops. I'll definitely be back, and look forward to checking out the Carmichael location. read more

There's a decent amount of good stuff here albeit at slightly higher than average thrift store prices. Some of the older staff members do feel a little transphobic (staring, ignoring us but greeting other customers), but what can you do. They did play the Brat album for pride, so it evens out. read more

I love-love a good thrift/vintage store and this one did not disappoint. Other reviews said it "smells like cigarettes" and had "high prices". Did not find that to be true. It did have a goodwill-musty closet smell which I attribute to other people's used clothing, but that's expected in thrift stores and it didn't bother me. The prices were great. I love weird, eclectic mugs and I found a great, restaurant chain stoneware mug for 98 cents. They had a lot of kitchen stuff, including full sets of *really cool* vintage dishes. Wish the shoes were better displayed/organized. They had tons of clothing and purses. Small selection of books/media. Not a huge store, but certainly enough to browse for fun. This wonderful business took a majority of things donated by my mother's estate. Then to my surprise a friend on social media posted a picture of a dresser she bought, didn't say where she bought it. Incredible service and value! I came here on a whim with some friends, the day of my engagement party with nothing to wear, and found the cutest sequined dress of my dreams! I was on a budget and the owner showed me some affordable accessories that went perfectly with the dress - she didn't have to help me out, but she did, and I was so touched by her kindness. Honestly if you're a thrifter you're sure to find something you like here. It's amazing how such a small shop can have so many treasures. Considering the prices are already very reasonable, the deals you can find during the holiday sales are insane. I love the fact that there are both vintage wares like teacups and plates as well as clothes, most thrift shops really only do one or the other. I'm impressed by the number of unique goods in the selection. Now, I won't say that it's "upscale" but truer thrift. I will say that the staff was super nice, the store was clean, and everything about the place was very professional. The price was very affordable for a thrift store. The lovely lady who was working the register was such a doll. She complemented all of my findings; I enjoyed coming to this store. The only downside is that it can be busy with the worst customers, entitled resellers. They're rude vultures who damn near shove their way into people who are shopping. It is such a disgusting sport to take away from people who can only afford these prices so that they can make a lazy buck and triple their findings. Unfortunately, this is something that can't be avoided while shopping here. The gentlemen at the register spoke with me about how vile it is watching people brag about re-selling items that could have gone to someone in need, such a shame. However, the workers and the great finds make up for the bad experiences that are out of the worker's hands. read more

This store is nicely organized with sale items outside, clothes grouped by size, and housewares are nicely displayed. This place is totally bizarre. To echo what other reviewers have mentioned, the place reeks like cigarettes. It seems like someone maybe smokes in the store. The smell is even more ridiculous given how overpriced everything is. Who wants a Forever 21 blouse that costs twice as much as it did new that stinks like cigarette smoke? The staff is odd and the actual impact of the charity the thrift store serves is unclear. The Freewill Foundation website claims to provide jobs for the homeless but offers few details about how these programs work or where they're located. There is also no info on how to access their programs. Topping it off the site is populated with phony looking stock photos. Not sure if this is a front for something or just poorly run. Either way it's worth skipping. read more

Upscale thrift has a good selection of various items. You can find some really quality items here. It is also very accessible and lots of street parking. Everything is overpriced. I would say they are even more higher priced than goodwill. It would make sense if these products were worth the prices, but many are not in good condition, are very old, or damaged. I've been here a handful of times over a period of years and think I've only purchased one thing... My main reason for the bad review is I witnessed a customer bring a complaint to the staff that an item was overpriced and you could find the exact item brand new for much cheaper at Target. After the customer left they openly mocked him and said he should have taken his ass to Target and had a vulgar conversation at the front of the store. Not cool. If you are upset with a customer or want to have a vulgar conversation take it to the back office. read more

There's nothing really upscale about this thrift store. Clothes are run-of-the-mill fast fashion brands like Forever21, Charlotte Russe, Gap, etc. Bags and shoes are cheap out of style pleather / faux leather. The only items I found worth buying were in the housewares section. They do have 50% off a particular colored sales tag each week. But based on the inventory, I won't be back. read more

I've only been to the shop as a donor not as a shopper. Since the SPCA thrift shop closed, I've been here twice to drop off donations of mostly vintage household items. First was an experiment to see how it went. The volunteers were friendly and helpful so I came with another load a couple weeks later. There's a small parking lot in back where the drop off is located. Both visits went very smoothly. Only downside to mention is that while I was wearing a mask, the volunteers in the donation are were not. read more

I love this place! I live up in the Sierras and I first found this store about 9 months ago. It has great vintage clothing at reasonable prices. Went again yesterday while visiting Sac and got some beautiful pieces. Lovely staff well organized and tons of costume/ Halloween items .
