Love this Goodwill location, tucked away on Alta Arden, not far from the mall. It's a good sized location and always seems to have a good variety of clothes, shoes, small appliances, books, cookware, home decor, but primarily clothes. The staff is nice and helpful. I wasn't paying attention to the sales color for the month, but an employee shared with me which was helpful. The donation process is seamless; donors drive thru, staff retrieves the items and receipt of donation is offered. read more

I went to drop off items at the Alta Arden store in Sacramento. Unfortunately, I had 2 items they couldn't take. The young woman who helped me was so kind and thoughtful, I really appreciated her. Yesterday, I visited this store location 2040 Alta Arden Expressway on May 25th, 2026 Monday evening I went shopping here. It was a great experience. MJ was training with her fellow team member and was very helpful with helping out her coworker. She was very kind and friendly. I accidentally misplaced my black water bottle on the way out of store. Upon arriving to my vehicle I noticed it missing. I went back inside the store to retrace my steps. I could not find it. I asked MJ if she could assist me. She went above and beyond, by going out of her way to be helpful and help relocate it. After a little while she had found it for me. It is the dedication, perseverance, and hard work of people like MJ that makes me a return guest at this location. Thank you to you MJ for all that you do. NO dressing rooms. If you buy the clothes to try on and return, they can only be returned for in store credit. All you get is a wimpy paper receipt so don't lose it! And the turn around time for returning is very short. Save yourself the hassle and come with a bathing suits on so you can try on clothes in the public area- maybe they will get the point that the dressing rooms are necessary! read more

This is probably my favorite goodwill amongst the ones I've been too. This is mostly due to their selection of books. Each time I've visited, I needed a cart for all the books I found. Their books are cheap ($2-$3 each). They have a good selection of young adult books, children's books, syfy, etc. They had many Steven King novels last time I was there. I'm happy I came on here to read the recent review that said they no longer do fitting rooms I would of been very irritated if I showed up to learn that they took that away... I will not go to a thrift store that doesn't have fitting rooms (exactly why I stopped going to ECO THRIFT & started coming here)!! I understand they get a lot of homeless stealing so fitting rooms aren't a good idea but I would never buy clothing without trying it on. Goodwill has so many locations all over Sacramento for donations. This one in Alta Arden Express Way is one of the most convenient locations to drop off your donations and go. I have been using another Goodwill location for so many years. I went there without even checking and found out that they were gone! I checked with my Yelp app and found this one is close to my work that I pass by in front of it all the way, but I just have not registered this location in my brain! The donation bay is next to the building in front of the road. It is not behind the building or far away from the road. This location is very convenient for me to drop off the bags and drive straight to the parking lot exit. So fast, so easy! I like this location. Um Wth happened to this place? I remember 1 yr ago me and my son came in here a few times. I loved it I bought so many things. Now I see it messy. Lot of clothes on the floor. No one wants to buy a chewed up Barbie hand by the way. Also the music they were playing disgusting. There was a song talking about panties it said panties so many times in this song. I Hope management or owner of this goodwill I mean there's children and classy ppl who want to shop not wanting to hear gross music about panties. Like wth. Oh and there was a board game empty no one wants an empty bored game. Like what happened? When I exited the store there was about half a dozen ripped tags on the ground. Would I come here again yeah. II needed a shirt for a special retro event. I have dropped off clothes here many times, but haven't gone into the store in years. I was pleasantly surprised how everything was well organized. I really enjoy going to this Goodwill. Great selection of so many items. It is very clean and organized. The employees are very nice and incredibly helpful. I mean its GOODWILL... Dont expect the same service or cleanliness as like a vintage thrift store. I will say, the past couple times I have gone here... They seem short staffed and were always calling for backup (some came LATER). Also, good luck getting through some of the isles... Stuff sticking out or on the floor. With them seeming to be short staffed, there is no one to organize the isles properly (when reasonable). I have only ever worked for the donation centers for Goodwill, but I feel they can afford to put more people in the stores to help out. read more

This location is a huge donation center and will take items late into the evening. The donation staff are friendly and you actually feel like they appreciate your drop offs. I think Goodwill is pretty pricey but this location has a good book section so I always give it a try. If you are into dressing up for Halloween this is your place! I think we're addicted to thrift store hunting now. I'm so shocked at how HUGE the Goodwill stores are in Sacramento. This is the second one we've been to, and they have an insane selection of just about everything you could possibly want, including entire dining ware sets (teacups, saucers, etc). We picked up 2 large sized Ramekins for $0.49 each, a plastic whisk for $0.49, and a Brita fridge pouring gallon container for $8. We also snagged a vinyl record to gift to hubby's dad since he just picked up a new record machine and has been showing it off everytime we come to visit. :) Can't wait to wrap it up and surprise him with it! Used goods are suuuch a steal, seriously. I don't know why we bother going to other stores, lol. We're the sort of couple who already has just about everything we could possibly want, so for the small odds and ends we're missing, it doesn't make sense to pay full price when there are perfectly good + like new used items just tossed away at Goodwill. Plus, it's better for the environment to buy used goods, right? We'll be back! On Labor Day, Goodwill has a 50% off EVERYTHING sale that starts at 8am, and you can bet this is what we'll be doing. LOL. We're definitely a "boring" married couple, hahaha. But TBH, is there anything more romantic than holding hands and giggling over the crazy things you find together at thrift stores? I arrived at 3.00 pm and proceeded to move toward the end of the line because I obviously didn't mean to cut. By the time I moved forward, they wouldn't take anymore donations. They didn't even bother knocking on my car window to tell me they would no long accept my donations, only after I had to directly approach the staffers did they tell me. read more

I actually like this Goodwill much more than other Goodwills. It seemed more organized. The children's books seemed cheaper- many board bks for $0.99 (vs mostly $1.99 at other GWs). The dresses also seemed cheaper- found many for $4.99 & $5.99. Great selection of women's clothes. Found a new, branded high quality winter coat for $25 (worth at least $70 discounted at Macys) which made me very happy. Overall, had better luck at this GW than at many others. read more

Goodwills can be really hit or miss. I was excited to try this location as I knew it was new and in a very large building. My expectations were 100 percent met. I found tons of cute clothes to the point where I had to start putting things away. I don't know what it is about this location but they had tons of designer stuff at not bad prices. I will say the prices are a bit higher than normal but it's so worth it when you have a good selection. I ended up spending about $40 and getting new shoes a brand new dress with tags and some cute winter tops. I'm looking forward to returning to this location! read more

Huge! Filled with lots of books, clothing, and Knick knacks. I didn't see any Media such as DVDs or CDs. They have a huge Women's section, bigger then expected. The shoe section is very nice. Like new selection. Everything is neatly hung and they have plenty of dressing rooms. If the place isn't busy the parking lot is a fantastic option. Free too. As far as Goodwill goes this is a good one! Great new location. I went on a Sunday afternoon, not too busy, lots of parking. My only going negative with Goodwill stores is they cram so much merchandise on the racks and shelves that it is hard to shop. I'm hesitant to touch a hanger or anything on a shelf for fear it will break or, with clothing, I won't be able to put it back on the rack. Staff was very friendly. read more

As Goodwill locations go, this one is my favorite. Second is the Goodwill in Roseville off Fairway Blvd. I'm not a big thrift store shopper so I don't come to Goodwill to look at clothes, shoes, home decor, kitchen accessories, electronics etc. I can't say how this location is for those things, but I can say that it's a big location with plenty of aisles for clothing. I do come here to look for used fiction/mystery paperback and hardcover books and 500+ piece jigsaw puzzles. This is why I have rated the store so high. They have the largest puzzle selection I have ever seen! It takes up a whole half of an aisle. The puzzles can also be good quality if you come on the right day. I have found multiple Ravensburger (the best!) puzzles, Buffalo puzzles, etc. I have put a few together and they have been missing a few pieces, but this is typical of thrift store puzzles. Still fun to put together for only $1.19-$3.19 each. Their used book selection is also really great. It fills the front left corner of the store, is packed with books and they are constantly restocking it throughout the day. I have found popular books such as The Vacationers, Luckiest Girl Alive, The Girl on the Train, etc. for only $1.00-$3.00. Yay! All have been in great condition too. I find Monday's to be the best time to go because they seem to have the best selection of puzzles and books then. I will definitely keep coming back to this location! P.S. I agree with the other reviewers when they say the parking lot is small because it is. The parking spaces are small as well so you were warned! read more

After maybe 5 stores, I came to this location and they are open for donation!!
