Unique would be the best way to describe this particular restaurant / hang out joint. When you walk in you definitely don't expect to see a huge tree in the middle of the room wrapped in chains and lock - super creative. The staff was super friendly when we walked in but the bartender seemed to be super passive instead of engaged, which you would expect when sitting at the bar. The drinks were really good and the beer selections was top notch. They have a very creative craft drink selection and we tried quite a few of them off their menu. The star of the show was definitely their take on poutine. The fries were super crispy, plenty of cheese, peppers, and the brown gravy was super delicious. The pizza was a bit odd as it had cream cheese instead of regular cheese, but it was very flavorful. I would had liked the crust to be a bit more done since it was almost raw in some spots but the flavor made up for it. The burger was cooked really well, super soft buns, and you can get a burger and a beer for $10! This is definitely a chill zone so come on out here if you are looking to hang out with some great food! read more

This was our second time here, just for cocktails this time. I was much more satisfied the first time, but this time was a disappointment. My drink was advertised to come with three blue cheese olives- and it came with two bruised hollow olives. My friends drink was advertised to come with a cherry, and it didn't have anything. Atmosphere was fine but the drinks were only ok and my food was really gross and expensive. - The "queso" was absolutely unforgivable. It is gelatinous, gas-station nacho cheese. Served with kettle chips. Yes, that's right. Kettle chips. - The deviled eggs are $6 for three egg-halves... 1.5 eggs total. For $6. Each is garnished with approximately 1/10 of a strip of bacon. -Poutine: No cheese curds. No gravy. Instead served with shredded cheese and a tiny pitcher of beef jus... more like a beef bouillon. Service was fine. Atmosphere good: inside is nice. Outside it's pretty much just the parking lot although there's a cute fire pit. read more

SIP Local is a welcome addition to North High St. It is in a strip mall with ample parking. I love that they have a small patio with a fire pit and free smores kits. The brewery is seat-yourself with table service. There is a mix of couches, high tops, and regular tables in addition to the bar. I would describe the space as Bohemian/earthy but the music was loud. The tunes machine allows patrons to blast country all night long... They have plenty of tv's to watch the game. Service was very prompt and friendly. They were out of a beer but we enjoyed the Uncle Devil Show and Pepin the Short. The SIP beers are always surprising but delicious. The original SIP location has killer pizzas so we had to try the Midwest Pie. So delicious and cooked to perfection. The server noted all the ingredients are local. They have a broad menu and could afford to have a few more of their beers on tap, but I know they are a small brewery. This is a nice neighborhood watering hole or a stop on a N. First things first, I love their beer! Probably one of my top 3 favorite breweries in the city. Service is great and atmosphere is solid too. I'm not originally from Ohio so this may be a midwestern thing...but I am personally not a fan of the potato chips with the queso. No issues with the queso, but the potato chips? I really liked this place. We sat on the patio. It was a nice evening. It is tucked into the corner of a small strip mall. I had their hazy and it was really good. The jalapeño popper smash burger was phenomenal. One of the most delicious burgers that I have had in a long time. We also shared the nacho fries. Oh boy, those were delicious as well. Only complaint was the service. The waitress was not great. Food and beer was awesome. There was a weird giant water jug out front. I heard three other table asking for water and they explained that you could get it out of the jug. Seems a little weird. It seems if you have to explain to everyone. Don't judge this book by it's High Street cover! Kind of tucked away in a strip mall a bit from the campus so my initial opinion was reserved. Once inside all perceptions immediately changed. I went to SIP two times, the first just to check out the beer and food menus. It was packed and there were people sitting outside around the fire pit. Just went back to actually drink and eat. They now have TVs with sports on, which was a bit distracting with people yelling out about the games that were on. However, there was a good selection of beers on tap and cocktails. The menu for food is creative and had some really good options for vegetarians. It seems like a solid pace and a great addition for Cville. Wish they would get rid of the TVs and focus on being a cool pub. read more

Second visit tonight. If you don't want to read further I'll just say up front I recommend without reservation. A good and surprisingly varied selection of beers. Staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Tonight the brewer happened to be on sight and our server asked him to come out to answer a question I had about one of the beers. As for the food, we've had the salads (simple and wedge) and both were excellent. Haven't had any of the sandwiches or sides but the veggie pizza w/cauliflower crust is excellent. As is the Ohio Pepperoni (a little grease but that's pepperoni for you). Small outdoor patio which we've found full with what may be an after work crowd on Friday's when the weather is nice but tonight was a Saturday and we were able to walk right up and grab a patio table. Inside not huge but is comfortable with a large bar, high top tables for 2-4 and some larger tables if you have a bigger group. Great if you just want to grab a beer or have a full, casual meal. Overall a great addition to Clintonville and one that will be in our regular rotation. read more

The Wednesday evening special: burger and one of the SIP beers for 10 bucks -- what a deal! We would return on any night, though: the two beers that I sampled were excellent, the burger was very good, the atmosphere was nice (active but not super loud), and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
