For starters, the people that worked here were friendly. I had a living social coupon my boyfriend bought me awhile back and I finally decided to use it for a special event. I made an appointment to get my hair styled, a mani pedi and make up. The hair: oh God, this is what wanted me to get the f* out of there quickstyle. The person that did it was REALLY nice so I feel terrible, though I wont even say her name. Let someone else be a bitch for once! She did an updo in some wierd style completely off of what I asked for. I even had pictures for her to copy from and it was a complete fail. It even started falling half an hour after I left. I also wanted to add that I explained to her what my hair was like and she still didn't get it. The nails: started peeling the next day because she laid the clear coat on too thick. I have friends who do nails for a living so watching her do it was excrutiating. The make up: When I asked for dramatic eyes, I got BLAH. I wanted bold eyeliner, dramatic colors something that would stand out. I mentioned Kim Kardashian eyes for god's sake. Famewhore make up! Nope. I got total BLAH. He tried but alas, another fail sorry. So basically I went home tried to fix my hair and added alot more touches to my make-up. To be honest part of the issue at hand was the lack of communication on my part. I trust my brows to no other. Heather and Stephanie know just the right amount to wax and I always get compliments on their work. Facials are reasonably priced and have three tiers based on time and what's included. All Dermalogica stuff. The're good about fitting me and always offer something to drink. One thing I haven't used myself but my brides have raved about are the on location spa services for parties. Derby will come out to your bachelorette party or pre-wedding bridal party get-ready session, etc and do everyone up with pedicures, manicures and the like. I spent Friday night at Derby getting the once-every-five-years facial I should be getting once a month. Alison (also the owner, according to Derby's site) worked with me, and she did an excellent job. My face was a glowing luminescent at the end of the 90-minute ("Best") facial session. Or maybe it was just shiny from product. Either way, my skin was recharged and fresh. I felt wonderful. I was a little worried when I got to the salon because the layout is very open, and I didn't want to have my facial in front of the entire studio. But I got my own room in the back. It was super cozy with really great music playing (Antonio Carlos Jobin's greatest collections - one of my favorite albums). Alison was personable, calming, charming, and gave me samples of a couple of products to try at the end of my appointment. I wasn't pushed into buying product whatsoever, which is an A+ quality in itself. It was the perfect way to start off the weekend and a fantastic experience. read more

I first decided to book an appointment at Derby a little over a year ago on the advice of some friends who go there. I only needed a trim and was content with the salon service and stylist I saw at that time (whose name I don't remember). Fast forward to this summer - I was going to be back in town and wanted to cut off my long hair and do something about the color to make it look more polished. So I decided to come back to Derby. I was booked in with Dean. I still found the salon staff to be very polite and professional. I also really like the cut I got. It was exactly what I asked for and took my long, layered hair up to a cute inverted bob. The color, on the other hand... let's just say you know it's not a good sign when your friends greet you with wide eyes and "what happened?!?!" when you get home. I booked for a partial foil to blend the small amount of gray hair I have so that it was not such a stark contrast against my dark hair. I imagined a partial foil to be a few high/low lights here and there. Dean suggested that we do 2 different colors - adding in some color and doing some light beige pieces (which I understood to mean bleach, fine). I was a little concerned when a few highlights was turning into a full head of foils that took nearly 2 hours but... I went with it and thought, surely most of those are "adding in some color," right? Needless to say, it was a bit of a shock when they were all pulled out and I saw Lance Bass looking back at me. I was even more surprised to hear Dean say that it turned out exactly as he imagined. Clearly we have very different ideas of what blending a few grays means. Has anyone even done a fully frosted head of dark hair since 2001? Long story short, I went from having a few grays to a full head of hair so platinum that it sort of looks like all my hair is gray and/or I just walked out of a 90s sitcom. No hiding it either, as the platinum is all the way through. So I guess I'll be running off to join a boy band until I can get it colored over. :( read more

This is right down the street from my home so I think that's awesome. I made an appointment after I realized that I was done fighting with my hair daily. I had no expectations of this place, but the service, style and cut I had recieved was hands down the BEST ever. I was scheduled with Nicole (sp?). I was greeted and offered a drink upon entering which I thought was nice. It was a busy saturday. I liked seeing how everyone who walked in was greeted by their hair stylist. Seemed like everyone knew everyone. Anyways, I sat in the chair and stated all the things I hated about my grown out mess, and that frankly I was ready to shave my head. lol, She listened and let me in on her vision for my hair and it was fun watching her sculpt this new do. I love it. And from always bouncing from salon to salon since I've moved to seattle...I'm ready to settle down. The Derby is definitely my new home. I've been going to Derby for years and have never had a bad experience. Jordan has been my stylist over the last several years, and I like her so much that even after moving across the country, I try to schedule a cut with her whenever I'm back in town. She is always great at listening to what I want, and giving me a great haircut and style. This past visit, she wasn't available so I scheduled an appointment with Jaaron. I went from having hair past my shoulders to a super short cut, and she was amazing! The style turned out exactly how I wanted it, and she was so careful and exacting, and really, really nice as well. Let me start out by saying that I love my eyebrow lady Heather. She's totally awesome, would follow her anywhere. Its just unfortunate she works at Derby. Derby Salon itself sucks total a**! They have totally f***ed my appointment on 3 separate occasions. First time: Made an appointment for a hair cut. I get there on time only to find out that the hairdresser I had the appointment with had quit a week prior, and no one called to tell me! So they see if the another hairdresser could take me instead, but all she did was come out, look me over (looking very bored and irritated I was taking up her time) and told me to book an appointment. I vowed never to go there for hair again, and I haven't. Second time: Had an appointment for brows (with Heather), but couldn't remember the time, so I called the salon a few days before my appointment to find out. They told me I was scheduled for 5:15. A few days go by and I get a reminder call about my appointment and they say my appointment is at 5:30. I ask them to double check because of the previous information and they confirmed it was 5:30. So the day of the appointment I get there and they had me on the books at 5:00. Luckily Heather could still squeeze me in, but come on! This isn't rocket science! Third time: Tonight. I am in dire need of a pedicure and had called around several placed yesterday to see if anyone could fit me in. I decided to give Derby a 2nd try. I called them yesterday (Wed) and asked if I could get in, they said no, the earliest they could get me in was tomorrow at 7:00. I said that would be fine and to book me for tomorrow. He confirmed "tomorrow at 7pm". I go in there tonight, at 7pm, and they have my appointment down for Friday at 7pm. (At least the moron got the time right). Seriously?! Of course they were booked up, but said they could squeeze me at 9:00pm if I could come back. I told them "no". I told them about the previous f***-ups and I said that I loved Heather and will follow her when she leaves Derby, which I will do everything in my power to help facilitate. And when she does leave I will never come back to Derby again. I told her that I will never recommend the salon and tell everyone I know how much they suck. I told them that this level of stupidity was ridiculous, and asked if the man I spoke to the day before was retarded. The girl apologized profusely, but I told her to cancel the appointment for Friday and that I would never be back. DO NOT GO TO DERBY! THEY'RE HORRIBLE!!! read more

Just had my first visit to Derby at the suggestion of a friend who goes there. She said I would like it because "It's posh and trendy inside, but located in a quaint, cute neighborhood." All in all, it was a great experience! My stylist was Jefflin. She was sweet, friendly and gave me a great cut. They offer great products and Jefflin recommended a great hairspray after I told her was I looking for. I definitely plan on going back! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 Stars is because the receptionist said he was going to get me tea, and then never came back. In fact, he left for the day about10 minutes after he said he was going to get the tea for me. It wasn't that big a deal. But still. :P read more

I discovered Derby randomly. Chivahn posted online that she was looking for models to do a dreadperm. I enjoy changing my hair very regularly and it gets expensive. I'd never had real dreads and am always down to be a guinea pig. A hair project that takes 6+ hours could result in some awkward, stilted conversation. Derby's services deserve 4 stars. Their front desk deserves NONE. Hence, an average of 2 stars. I recently moved back to Seattle and was looking for a stylist. I heard good things about Derby so I went--and had a great cut and color. Liked it so much that on my way out the door, I booked them to do onsite services for my wedding. This was in October, my wedding was in July. I emailed a few months later to confirm my reservation with them. No response, so I called. They had NO idea what I was talking about. They had no records of my reservation whatsoever. Now, I could maybe understand if I had made the booking by phone or email, but I physically stood at the desk in the salon and wrote out all the information about the event and then put the paper into the hand of the front desk girl. And, this is not just for a regular salon service, we're talking $1500 worth of wedding services, and they lost my reservation? THERE IS SIMPLY NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. Girls, don't risk your wedding on a salon that might lose your reservation. And if you go for the other salon services, call ahead to confirm your appointment before you go! read more

There are a few things I love about Derby Salon and they are the reasons why I continue to go back. First, I've been seeing Mariah for my eyelash extensions for quite some time now and I love her. Mariah has amazing attention to detail; she takes her time to ensure I leave looking more beautiful than ever. I can't thank her enough for getting me hooked on extensions. If you haven't tried them already, you need to (and go see Mariah). I can't even put into words how much I love Mariah's work. I've also had some waxing done by Mariah, she was gentle, patient, and really made sure I was comfortable (which are all great things when you are getting certain places waxed). I would recommend Mariah to anyone and everyone, there is no one else I would see for waxing, facials, and especially my lash extensions!! Secondly, I love their front desk, specifically Kristi. She always remembers me by name, always offers me a glass of wine, and always has a smile on her face. Kristi is always really patient when scheduling my future appointments, which at times can be confusing. I really appreciate the ladies at Derby, and will continue to be a client! Okay, so here's the deal. I'm single and about to fall into the "feeling sorry for myself" lake on my birthday. Instead, I went to Derby and got a manicure and massage! TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY! Sadly, I don't remember the fabulous ladies' names. However, when I went in to get a manicure, the girl that did my nails was GREAT! She had all sorts of information about Seattle (still kinda new here), funny stories, and was just generally nice. She was real, too. She wasn't all plastic boobs and blond hair. She had tats and piercings and cussed as much as I did. Fabulous! As my nails were drying, I realized I hadn't put enough money in the meter. She dug through my rat's nest of a purse and found a dollar, got quarters, went out and fed the meter, put the sticker in my car, and relocked it, putting everything back in my purse for me. Above and beyond, I tell you. So then, the massage. I'd never had one before and this one was amazing. I actually caught myself drooling. I had been so tense and sore in my back and shoulders..when I was done in there my shoulders, literally, were lower. My only regret was that I got the 30 minute massage instead of the 60. So overall, I highly HIGHLY recommend this place. 5 stars! read more

I got a haircut about a week ago and I came to realize that I HATED it. It usually takes a couple days for me to get used to a cut, but after a week, I still didn't like it. So, I called, booked an appt for that evening, and Sarah helped me fix my hair! She listened to what I wanted and DELIVERED. My choppy, uneven hair is now put together, blended, and makes me feel NORMAL again. Yes, I'll have to wait for my shrewn bangs to grow out a bit, but I no longer feel self conscious about my hair. I really appreciated how she took the fact that I don't do anything to my hair other than blow dry it and go and showed me what my hair would look like if I did so. I hate going home and realizing that what a stylist did was largely due to the multiple products they use on you while in the salon. I'm happy to say, my hair looks like what it did when I left the salon even after washing and drying it at home. read more

Derby is a great place to get a haircut among the many choices in the Roosevelt neighborhood. They're working on an online booking system, but calling them was easy. You come in and your stylist gets you tea, coffee, or water, and you spend some time chatting about what you're looking for. You get a shampoo, condition, cut, and dry/style. They take credit cards and the prices are good, relative to the rest of Seattle. I left the salon and after a few days decided that I wasn't completely thrilled with the haircut, so I contacted Derby and they had me come back in to get it adjusted. If you can afford it, I highly recommend KT- he really understood what I was looking for. It's been a week now, and I love how my hair looks and feels. I've had the same long haircut for years, but I knew I needed to get rid of a lot of damaged hair so I told her I'd just trust her with length and layers. Invested in the "wedding day" package - cuz who doesn't want to look their bestest for the big day? Went in for a consultation, and the stylist did what I wanted, but the big 50's bouffant didn't go over to well with the fiance/family. $45 so far. So, back for round two. This time I went with the "need some suggestions" approach and got zip. Walked outta there about 15 minutes later (another $45 out the window) with the hair style I already had, just a little more flipped at the bottom. I decide to go with the less-is-more style, and on THE BIG DAY, I show up at the salon with 6 of my bridesmaids in tow (we had reservations for them). I got my perfunctory style and she managed to grease the heck out of my bangs with all the styling goo. But, no time to rewash - so she just sprayed some more crap on it. Let's just say my hair looked like someone smooshed a bunch of Vaseline in it. Not so pretty in the pics. Oh, another $55 out the window. My bridesmaids were a mixed bag. Some of them got kinda cute/okay sorta up-does. But two of the girls were on the verge of tears as they left. Two words: Nellie Olson. We had to unravel their coifs and redo. So - overall experience wasn't quite what I would have expected for nearly $200 in "service." I think they offered us hot tea or water. I had been going to Blankety Blank Salon for years. My stylist up and disappeared one day, so I needed to find a new place. After doing a lot of research, I went to see Chivahn at Derby. She rocks! She was very friendly and detail oriented, and my color and cut turned out even better than I could've hoped! The salon itself was super cute. It has good flow and rad art. The front desk staff was very accommodating, and the owner's dog was super sweet! It was a really great experience. Chivahn! I hate trying to find a new place to go to when I move so I usually try to hold out until I come back to visit my family in Seattle so that I can stop by Derby Salon. They do great hair cuts/treatments, waxing, ect. I love everyone that works there. They are all super nice! Honestly, I don't go anywhere else, and I probobly never will. At least unless Chivahn goes elsewhere. I've always just gone to super cheap places for my cut, and then done my own color, but then I got a real job and needed help looking pretty but professional at the same time. Chev saves me every time, and I always get more compliments on my hair than I know what to do with. I can't recomend her highly enough, whether you want something conservative, or ultra modern and wild. The salon itself is very pleasant, and the Bumble and Bumble products are top notch. I got a bad haircut from one of the local salon schools 4 months before my wedding and needed it fixed badly! Luckily, I discovered Shandra who saved my hair and my wedding day. I chose this salon because I knew that I wanted a full experience on the morning of my wedding - massage, hair, and make-up for me, and hair-dos for my ladies. I had a haircut with Shandra a few months prior and also talked with her about how I envisioned my hair for the day of. I had the bridal hair practice a few days before the wedding, and that went smoothly. The morning of, we shuttled the ladies side of the wedding party to the salon, and everyone went to work quickly and efficiently. I started on my massage which was oh so necessary as I needed some relaxation with all my boisterous family in town. (My aunts were already told to keep it down within 5 minutes of their arrival to the hotel. We can't help it - my family only has one volume.) My hair and make-up went smoothly, and they got all of us out of there on time. Everyone was very happy with their hair and looked gorgeous! I was very pleased. My first experience was phenomenal! I had my hair colored and cut by Dyllan, who was an absolute doll, and did a fantastic job with coloring my hair so that I can get away with a little punk rock colors while also staying professional for my office job. It was kind of a long appointment, but that's what I signed up for, and we made pleasant conversation, but I love a stylist who can work with some silence & just let me meditate/nap during extended time in their chair. My scalp massage was FANTASTIC, and I'm surprised I didn't end up drooling all over myself at the hair sink. The salon was nice and clean, the other stylists and staff were super friendly. PLUS! I had become very unimpressed with the other place I'd been going to for the last two years, so it was time to research other salons in the neighborhood. Someplace I could afford not just for one great cut & color, but a place that I could also afford to RETURN to every two months for maintenance-- a tricky feat in this city, I found. I kind of chose Derby for my first cut by accident-- mainly I had that intense feeling for the cut on a Sunday, a day which most places have the audacity to be closed on (not so great for the M-F working crowd). Derby, one of two places in the area open on Sunday, had an opening just two hours later-- awesome, I'll take the chance. I was scheduled with Chivahn, a cute, funny, tattooed animal lover and luckily someone I instantly clicked with. She sat me down, nearly gasped at its current 'bigness', and said she could fix me. And with those magic words, she more than fixed. She listened to my short list of wants, my lifestyle (nanny= ponytails often), my previous issues with my most recent salon. Then she acted accordingly. In a nutshell, Chivahn is the vanity side of me's new best friend. I couldn't recommend her enough (and so: http://www.derbysalon.com/chivahn.htm). She had the most relaxing shampoo massage I've ever received. Her conversation wasn't forced and she had a genuine desire to learn more about me. The results were so amazing that I, for once, still continue to love my cut a month later, and loved & trusted Chivahn so much after just one visit that I returned the following weekend for a color/highlights. And one of the best parts was that the price was very much something I could repeat + a 20% tip every other month. Because frankly, she deserves it. Harsh that I've been a client for going on 7 years and not left a review! Here goes: Dana is the greatest hair stylist ever, and probably one if my favorite people as well. She has taken me blonde (I have REALLY dark hair so that's a challenge), taken off 13 inches, and dealt with my ever changing tastes for all 7 of these years. I go to the owner, Alison, and Justin for brows, they are both FANTASTIC. Justin has a great way of "getting" my face, making sure that they aren't too skinny. Everyone you see here will be excellent, and Daniela and everyone else at the desk is super helpful. Oh last thing! I was in a wedding and the bride and all the bridesmaids did wedding appts. Everything turned out great, and although there was a hiccup (one stylist was pregnant and had terrible morning sickness) they called someone else in last minute to help. Derby salon is a cute little spot located in Roosevelt. I had a 7pm appointment on Wednesday which was perfect for me since I work until around 5pm in Bellevue. When I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist and she got me a glass of water. My hair stylist, Enoch, was very professional and made my hair look amazing! I have bad anxiety and sometimes getting my hair cut can cause a panic attack. I saw Paul for the first time and was having some jitters, but he took it all in stride. He made me feel very comfortable and by the end of the appointment I felt like I had made a new friend. The haircut he gave me was exactly what I wanted. Nothing too drastic, but he still checked in with me periodically between chatting to make sure I knew how much he was taking off my hair and what he was doing. This made the experience so much better. Also the scalp massage at the beginning of the haircut was phenomenal and set the pace for an all around great appointment. I am a big fan of Crista and now consider her my new hair stylist. I was referred to her by a friend who loves her, but frankly my friend has plain, straight hair, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing. I have thick, curly hair which I straighten into misleading silky locks. Crista didn't flinch when she figured out it was going to be a bigger job than she expected. She took the time to make sure it was right, even though it made her a bit late for her next client. (We now book more time for my haircuts, so this won't happen again. She's a smart girl!) The first few days of any haircut are always a bit awkward for me. I nicknamed it the "Bellevue MILF" because though it was a beautiful haircut, it didn't really fit my personality. It was pretty, and I wanted more edgy. But after about a week it grew into something that I loved. And, it was hard to argue with all of the compliments I was getting, especially the ones from complete strangers. The second time I saw Crista I told her I wanted something a little more punk rock, and she totally pulled it off. It was a haircut along the same lines, but modified a bit, and I LOVED it. I also realized that the first time I went in I was dressed like a slob because I'd been painting that day. The second time I went in I dressed like I normally do, and I think that helped pin down my personality a bit more. As for Derby Salon itself, it seems great. I'm big on clean, calm, and smart, and they succeed at all three. I don't care about trendy or boutique, which I guess they are, but not at the expense of good service. read more

Being someone with a lot of hair (i.e. it doesn't like to stay in place, let alone in up-dos), they were able to give me the look I wanted and make it stay all day. I've seen many stylists there-not because I'm disloyal but because I'm lazy and don't schedule appointments until I'm in the panic mode of I NEED TO CUT IT OFF NOW. I've never had a bad cut there, and everyone is super friendly and unpretentious. Laura was my stylist tonight and she was lovely and took her time and care even though I just asked for a trim. Came in after a stressful 2 years, asking "let's keep as much length as possible". KC, amazing as always, says "ok, we're going to need to take about 4 inches off". We do that. And he says "let's schedule another visit, just in case, before you leave again". Sure enough, he was right - he respected my wish to keep as much length as possible, but could tell that there was still some damage that needed to be removed. After my first wash, I knew he was right, even though my cut looked pretty darn good as it was. So back I went, and magic occurred! The rest of the damage was taken out, and somehow, he made my super-fine, super-straight, super-flat hair look beachy and bouncy. Trust me, it's not because I'm good at styling my hair, this is all about his ability to give a good cut. I'm now in the land of the hot & humid, and my hair looks great (just like it did in Seattle, the land of the cool & humid). It's easy to take care of, the product recommendations were perfect, and I'm just bummed it'll be another 2 years before I can get back to Seattle and the Derby Salon again! read more

I've looked for a "home" salon since moving to Seattle two years ago, with mixed results. I've found almost everything I wanted in Derby. The place scared me at first, since I generally go around looking like a suburban housewife and the stylists and counter staff look like, well, derby girls - tattooed and badass and not warm and fuzzy. I felt like the girl in high school who didn't match up to the cool girls but wanted to fit in. In truth, they're real people who are their real selves at work. Once my fear subsided, I found that they're down-to-earth and pretty fun. More important, they know what they're doing. This was the first time a stylist actually did what I asked her to (lighten my hair, but not bleach it) - everyone else had just been saying they were doing what I wanted, but doing something else (bleaching). I used a coupon for a mani/pedi/massage. The mani/pedi were not bad (I usually do it at home - don't really like people messing with my nails), but the massage from Xochil was absolutely sublime. One of the best of my life. I dream about the next one. The prices for haircuts and color are a little higher than I'd like them to be - it's hard to get out of there for much less than $200 for both. Other than that, five stars. I like being listened to, and I'll keep coming back despite the price - just not as often as I'd like. read more

I've been to Derby Salon for haircuts in the past and it's been a pleasant enough experience due to the convenience of the salon, but I will not be coming back. I booked an appointment at 3 in preparation for a haircut prior to an important evening event. I arrived at 3 and was given a cup of tea, which was great. However, no one came to get me until 3:45 and there was absolutely no apology or explanation offered. The stylist was obviously running late because she cut pretty hastily, and then just stuck me under the dryer and took another customer into my chair. I never even had the chance to look at my haircut in the mirror to go over it with the stylist before I had to leave. As it was, I was still late to my event. Given what I had paid, it seemed a pretty shoddy experience, so I'll try one of the other nearby salons next time. read more

Updated review: I love this place. I've been coming for two years now and I'm always pleased the results. Hair cut is always perfect, I'm never pushed to buy products (and sometimes get samples!), and I love all the cute jewelry/hats/bags Derby sells as well. Came in today for a very sudden waxing appointment. I spent my morning at another place getting my legs done... and I left with too little cash in my wallet and poor results. Derby let me get my underarms done and my appointment was $10 cheaper than the other place, quick, and as painless as a wax can be! So glad to see that Derby is doing well and they've expanded their services. Thank you! Old review: Jessie was amazing at fixing my thick, wavy hair and listening to my needs! I'm definitely saying goodbye to all the other salons I've been to and sticking with Derby :) I sent an email requesting an appointment about a week ago, describing my hair and my desires. I was given the names of two ladies that work at Derby, and with my schedule I chose Jessie. I later sent another email requesting to see her, going into further detail about my hair type and regimen (I refuse to use harsh chemicals, never use heat, work outside a lot, never take more than a minute on my hair, etc etc), and some photos of what I wanted. Jessie was able to see me the next day and went straight to work. I was concerned that maybe she'd forget what was in my email, but when I sat in her chair she confirmed what I wrote and put me right at ease! The wash/massage was amazing, and she's such a cheery energetic person that our appointment flew right by! I left with lightweight, soft, shiny hair that I (and my boyfriend) couldn't stop touching. The free bang touch up and her easy-going attitude is so sweet, I think I found my hair girl! For ~$65, I am very pleased. read more

I got my first facial here. My skin was misdiagnosed and I was sent home with the wrong type of Dermitologica products (which are very expensive). My skin got progressively worse until I got some well reviewed over the counter products for sensitive skin. Dermitologica products are rated across the web as containing ingredients that are not good for your skin and that are too expensive. Derby staff are nice, my clinician was polite and did a good job, however the facial itself was not good for my skin because of the products. Their staff are clearly encouraged to push products throughout the facial, which takes away from the relaxing experience. read more

Derby is the best. I've been seeing Heather for about two years, and she is awesome. Brazilians are quick, as painless as possible and $55 for a maintenance. And a Happy Hour Brow wax between 4 and 6 PM is only $15. I've only been to Derby for waxing, but have always had a great experience! Plus, they always offer you tea, coffee, water or WINE. Who doesn't need some liquid courage before a Brazilian?! read more

Last week I decided I couldn't stand my red fluffy mess of hair anymore. I hadn't had a professional cut in almost 10 years. So, I walked into Derby and hoped for the best. I was greeted by Dean, who explained what he planned to do to tame down the curly fluffy mess I had been dealing with my whole life. I couldn't be happier with his shear skills! After calling around and pricing, while strategically planning around my tight schedule before my trip, I landed upon Derby which is conveniently right by my work. They have a great deal for a Happy Hour Brow Wax, then I got them tinted as well. VERY friendly staff. And they even called 2 days prior to confirm my appt. Walked in and greeted right away with a smile by the front desk person. She let me know that someone will be right with me. Not even 3 minutes, and the esthetician came over to greet me. She took me right back, winding though the salon and sitting room, into a decent sized private room. All I noticed that probably needed mentioning is that the floors were quite old and dingy and could use a makeover, but other than that- very nice and organized. Stephanie the esthetician was very friendly and welcoming. She was also very professional and listened to my preferences. After she was done (which it was quick, clean, and pretty painless), she explained to me about my brows, brow growth, and how she will work with them in the future to give them the right curve while having hairs grow in. When someone explains to me what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what they will do, that is pure professionalism and the golden sale tactic to get clients like me to come back in again.
