Fun little spot. Always a pretty good vibe here... But I've only been twice when I traveled to Denver, So take that for what you will. If you go earlier in the day, seems to be a younger crowd here. Great skatepark. Massive footprint with a diverse offering of obstacles. Three bowls, a large street section, and a plethora of miscellaneous smaller spots. It huge but it does get crowded. You do have to be aware of your standard skatepark etiquette and look out for some of the shady characters but I've never had a problem. Fun spot. read more

This skate park must be the biggest one I've seen and that to be mid city is impressive, bravo Denver. A little low wall separates from the sidewalk where I could admire all ages practice. There's nothing too extreme going on with the ramps, so it can be a fun, safe experience for multiple ages. There are a couple of stinky portable toilets on site if you ever find yourself in a bind. Excellent skate park for our 6 year old to venture out on and perform his mad learning skills! So many new obstacles for him at this park. He just watches videos, remembers and attempts it, wherever we take him to a skate park. We wanted to bring him to a bigger skate park because he's definitely eager to learn and loves trying new equipment out. He keeps going until he gets it! Not sure if I have this trick down the correct way based on what he did but I believe it was an "Ollie" off of a long ledge that he ended up mastering within the hour to two hours we stayed. Only downfall is the massive hits you can get just from passing through certain areas of the park. Weed is totally legal so it's not a shocker people were doing this, not to mention the contraption I noticed one chick with but goodness, it's extreme!!! Glad my two younger sons weren't in that area. Hence the 4 stars. read more

This place is great! It's located in beautiful downtown Denver. Free and open to the public from 5am-10pm. There are rails and bowls for people of all riding abilities, not just the really great riders. There are a few people who were there just to show off but, overall it was a great atmosphere. I felt almost on the older side being mid-twenties and I'm not a good skater by any means but, everyone seemed to be there just to have fun. Skating has come a long way and this is a huge progression from the days when police chased you down for trying to ride your board on public streets. Overall, it was great. This park is, to use an overused 80s adjective, rad. A park of this magnitude in a great part of the city is a testament to the outdoor focus of this state and the willingness of the city to give skateboarders a place to ride and enjoy themselves. The various areas of the park lend themselves to beginners, intermediate and expert skaters. The only complaint I have is that the surface is a bit slick. Best to have park specific wheels for better grip as you ride. It is fun to powerslide all over the place but when you do backside 180s that are more like backside 130s like me you tend to slip a more than you might on a more rough sidewalk finish type surface. I am not as graceful as I used to be and this park shows me time and time again. If you want to skate when no one else is around and won't make fun of you, go early... also, if you are taking your kids to watch, let them do that but don't let them hang out in the bowls where speedy expert skaters are dropping in at all times. It's not their responsibility to babysit your kiddo. If you're a parent who likes that their kid is interested in this sport, do them a favor, pad them up appropriately, take them there early and maybe even find a willing skater to show your kid the ropes or take them to the park with their friends. Skating is a solo endeavor but to learn you need people to show you how. It's more fun that way... read more

First and foremost the greatest thing at the denver skate park is my MOM she sells snacks, drinks and advice! Some people know her as the skatepark mom, mom, Sharon, Snack cart lady and the last isn't too nice but it was my old name there which she inherited the snack cart bitch :) The park is and was an amazing idea. It was started by a local group of skaters who took the idea to city council. They worked on it for a long, long time and finally saw it open. One council person I won't give his name said that the million dollars used to build this park would have been better spent on a drive by shooting range. He said this to a newspaper. The next election he was promptly not re-elected. He was wrong. Give kids somewhere to go and they will. This place keeps them out of trouble for the most part and gives them something to do rather than skate random rails because they have no where else to go. The park is best for families with small children on Saturday & Sunday mornings. After about 1 or 2 the kids who are there everyday show up. If you leave your kids there make sure they have money (not to support my mom) but sometimes the water fountain is broken and it gets hot on the slick cement. Make sure your kids know the concept of a line. People do get in one to try the ledges the catipillar etc., so wait in it and avoid a fight. There are fights here, people get loud, music blasts from cars and its AMAZING. The atmosphere can't be found at another park. Trust me I've been around. It's a family everyone knows everyone else. You'll find pros here cuz they can't leave their home park for more than a month. You'll also find young guys who will probably be the next big thing. It's happened before. Random tours stop through all the time and you never know who you'll run into. Skaters, BMXers and Fruit booters (aka roller bladers) all manage to get along here and respect each others sport. So don't go here looking for trouble or you'll find them all bonded together---against you :( read more

I'm not much of a skater, and by that I mean that I don't and can't skate. And by that I mean I tried it as a youngster but, like with most things athletic, I lacked any necessary skill and decided that I liked being alive too much to skate. Live to skate? More like: Don't skate in order to live! However, I liked the music and culture, and I realized that you could listen to all the punk rock you wanted, play music in a band and watch the X Games and be just as cool. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. That said, I've got enough skater friends to know that this place is nice. I've been down there a few times as a spectator, and it's a happening place. Funniest experience: My friend was supplied with one of those lame-ass Segways for a magazine article he was writing, and as a hipster prank one of our skater buddies drove it down to the skate park. One thing I always notice about this place when I am driving by is that it is always crowded with up-and-coming kids and people my age, even if it is 10pm. Located right down in LODO, near Little Raven (man I love this street name) and 20th, this skate park is fairly large with killer bowls. Like Sandra W. said, it is important to give people a place to skate if you are limiting them in the city, and this seems to be a good substitute to grinding off of the benches at Larimer Square or wherever. My 5 year old son is a skateboard rockstar and a huge fan of this skatepark. Even after a day of peewee basketball and birthday parties, he wants to know if we can go to the skatepark. The great thing about the park is there are kids of all ages on all types of wheels and I haven't noticed any negative energy between any of the skaters/bikers/riders. There are also a variety of skill levels and none seem to affect the other. These are some of the most polite young kids in any public arena where you will find groups of teens collected. Outside of some of the language I have overheard, I have no problem with my 5 yr old in this environment. There are also enough parents here watching their kids that an unspoken air of safety is prominent. Great location, mellow environment, amazing ride for whatever you're riding, and even mom can jump on her skateboard 30 years later and embarrass her kid righteously. read more

Apparently one of the best, the Denver skate park is for all those hot rod 13 year olds and 28 year old men who'd like to have another chance : ( The space is impressive and a great place to keep the kids off the street and into the street park. It's important to give these kids a place to skate when the majority of Denver is deigned illegal to skate in. Lot's of special treats for the kids here---numerous bowls as well as rails and boxrails. Open 5 am to 11 pm and the curfew is heavily enforced. Don't even try it. I love this skate park during the night time. It's so chill and you definitely feel like you're feeling Colorado now with this enchanted location. The warm summer breeze is perfect when you're skating in their long and open view ramps; the people are so nice and it's a great place to make new friends. As one of the "over aged" as Sandra W. put it, I have to say that this park is a great place for beginners through expert. This is where we usually skate because of it's convenient location and because as a household of people from varying levels of skateboarding it has the best challenges for all of us. The ride is super smooth, but watch out- the surface is super slick so if you hit even the smallest amount of water you are down. For the most part the early crowd are all skaters who want to skate. There are some awesome "over aged" skaters as well as up and coming pros who are willing to help out anyone who isn't nearly as advanced. It's a good scene as long as you get their early. Which brings us to the bad side. Unless you get there fairly early it's super crowded with people who don't even skate. Not people who don't skate well, but rather those who just want to hang out and talk trash. It's definitely not somewhere I'd take any kid in the evenings or weekend afternoons. Also, if you are taking your kids there please, PLEASE make sure they get that they need to watch where they are going, wear protective gear and use some manners. The big guys can't stop on a dime because a 5 year old on a scooter isn't paying attention. There are a lot of fun places to skate and the Denver Skate Park is definitely up there on the list. read more

Love this skatepark! It gets pretty busy but its huge, so there is usually no problem getting around. This is a really good park for all skill levels. There is always a wide variety of people around, tons of little kids and parents sitting around. It's in downtown Denver.. so don't be surprised by all the sketchy people around, just be on your toes and lock your car doors! I also really like that it stays open until 11PM. read more

The best skate park in Denver, maybe even the U.S! The grounds are a little slick but you'll get used to it overtime. The skaters here never judge anyon based on their skill levels. I'm a beginner myself and whenever I can't land a trick or I fall, the guys there are very supportive. They will either say "Hey man everyone's gotta start somewhere don't be embarrassed" or "Yeah dude the ground's super slick today everyone is falling" if you fall they will ask if you're ok or not. Sure there have been a couple of fights at the park but that happens almost anywhere. The older skaters will sometimes help out the younger or the less experienced ones. The bowls here are huge and awesome. Dpark has lots of ledges and hand rails to grind on. There are several stair sets and countless banks. There are also the wave bowl and the bubble bowl and they are great for beginners. This place has a ton of manual boxes and a vast amount of flat ground for kids to practice tricks. This is overall a great place! If you ever come to Denver and you skate, dpark is where you should go. read more
