I wandered in expecting a patch of grass downtown, but it turned out to be more than that--a little urban playground wedged between buildings, where something's always happening. There's an ice rink and a cozy little vibe that makes downtown feel like a Hallmark movie. It's not huge, but it packs in charm--ping pong tables, food trucks, random art, and the kind of people-watching you only get in a place that never really quiets down. I visit this park from time to time when I can. When visiting this park, it always makes my outings worth it. The security are always happy to greet people that are visiting (when they are doing there rounds), the restrooms are always clean whenever they are open, and even on hot days, they provide ice cold water. Even if you visit this park for an hour, or even for five minutes passing through, you will love that you did. It is a beautiful park to see on your way to work or on your outting. This is the best spot to take in the Daniels & Fisher Tower (abbreviated D&F Tower). This is the landmark clock tower building in downtown Denver. It is the centerpiece of Skyline Park which ought to be called D&H Tower Park. Skyline Park is more of a public plaza interspersed with green areas and plantings. The plantings include pine trees and evergreens. It is a three-block park bookmarked by 15th Street (where many of the hotels are) at the west and 18th Street at the east. In the center where the D&F Tower rises over downtown Denver, the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall crosses the plaza creating a large number of pedestrian traffic. This is over and above a physical public plaza. It is a center of culture. Throughout the year, the park provides free activities to the public. The most known is during the wintertime when it transforms into an ice skating rink. During the warmer months, it offers a complimentary movies, a beer garden, outdoor market, and nine-hole miniature golf course. What the miniature golf course lacks in challenge it makes it up in a charming course. I spent some time at the edge of 17th Street taking in this cute miniature golf course. I thought it was neat to look up at the giant D&F Tower and below at a miniature Capital Building. I thought it was neat to look up at the skyscrapers around me then down at a miniature bear statue climbing a miniature Denver Convention Center Building. I thought it was neat to look up at the tall evergreens and pine trees above and a miniature skyline below with the D-E-N-V-E-R sign. On account of the view of the adorable miniature golf course below and the scenic D&F Tower straight above and the skyscrapers above, the 17th Street gateway is my favorite part of the park. It is a 4 star Yelp photo spot. Further from the D&F Tower and 16th Street Pedestrian Mall, the center of attention is the red stone colored rock area complete with an urban waterfall. This is something to bark about considering that there is a pop up dog park in this area. Unfortunately there were some sketchy people hanging out here. On account of this fact, I abbreviated my time in the easternmost reaches of the plaza. Just like many of the points of interest that I saw in Denver, Skyline Park is worth the trip when combined with other attractions. It's location in the heart of downtown makes this easy. It is connected to the thriving 16th Street Mall. It is a couple of blocks from Larimer Square and a short walk from Coor's Field. As a matter of fact, when we spent time in Skyline Park, we met up with it from the 16th Street Mall, then exiting from the easternmost point we walked 18th Street to Coor's Field then ultimately down the Cherry Creek Trail to the South Platte River. The preceding paragraphs lead to the conclusion that I am a fan of Skyline Park. It is a nice public space in the heart of the city that provides free activities for the public with a first-rate view of the historic and scenic D&F Tower beside modern skyscrapers. read more

Originally designed by Lawrence Halprin and completed in 1973, this park had been envisioned as a canyon in the city. At the turn of this century, though, the city turned its back on the park. Seems the place was used primarily by skateboarders, homeless, and drug dealers. So Denver hired Thomas Balsley Associates, of New York, and decided to basically fill in the canyon part and demolish the majority of the park in 2003. Unfortunately, after losing the canyon feeling which many locals felt was of quintessential local flavor, the new park still does little to encourage its use. I was a white collar type for a while. I worked at Arapahoe and 17th, and watched them finish the project. After the construction fences came down, I found I was the only person eating lunch on my block of Skyline Park. The lack of shade or privacy prevented most people from venturing out there. So while I can understand the need to update this park, I feel that the new park falls very short of its goal, and what was interesting about the original park is lost. That being said, I hope those little baby trees will grow up and that this park will increase in popularity. Otherwise, it'll probably just be turned into parking garages in another 30 years. P.S. That's not a picture of Skyline Park. That's a picture of the skyline and a park, I suspect somewhere in Auraria. Skyline Park is on Arapahoe and intersects the 16th St Mall, you can't actually see the Denver skyline when you're there because you're in it. read more

Took the kids here to ice skate. There is no skate fee just shoe rental and it's about $2 dollars per shoe rental. The ice rank is settled in downtown Denver around lots of little shops. It was great that it was free but because it's free there were many people and over-crowded. It was a cold day the day we went but I went and hung out at the Corner Bakery to have coffee and keep warm while my nieces and nephews skated with their parents. read more

Skyline park is a little sliver of a park that is located in the middle of downtown. Nonetheless, it has some cool built in chairs, and a nice grassy area which looks ideal for white collar types to bring their lunch to on a spring or summer day. Also, live in the city and don't know where to take your dogs? Now you do...just make sure to clean up after them or SNAP! its ticket or citizen arrest time! Watch out now! read more

We were walking around downtown Denver, and were walking by Skyline Park. I know this park is a skating rink in the winter time, but I wasn't aware it was a family (outdoor) playing area park in the summertime. My husband and I decided to stop and play a few of the games. The games you could pick today were: a small mini golf course (not sure how many holes, but enough to have a nice time), a giant JINGA, a big Connect 4, ping pong, Cornhole, and a few more. We played a game of Cornhole, and then a game of Connect 4. It was fun! There is nice music gently playing in the background. All of the games are on artificial grass, and there are benches to sit down and just relax. Nice idea! Too bad, it ends at the end of October! But then, wait, it will be an ice skating rink in the winter. See you there! read more

A tiny park, but even just a little bit of green brightens my day. And right now the section of the park next to the Clock Tower has games from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.: ping pong, cornhole toss, ladder toss, bocce ball, horse shoes, croquet, and an assortment of board games. read more

I agree with previous reviewers, this is a sliver of a park. I came here for the first time to watch the Corporate Tug of War Contest. This is a great area for a picnic or to sit down and have some lunch since it is right off of the 16th street mall. Take a gander one day and let me know what you think. Kind of nice to know that there is a little park tucked away in downtown. By the way, the Tug of War Teams totally brought in some ringers! Where did they find these guys? This park is actually in two sections located across from and behind Lannie's Clocktower on the 16th Street Mall. It is not shaded so it can be a bit much during these hot summer days but there is shade available at the neighboring building next to the park and, in the section behind Lannie's Clocktower, there are some umbrella'd tables and benches available. I used to go to Biker's Jim's regularly before he bought the storefront and I had no idea this area was considered a park. They have a few things going on there now like the Keen initiative where you make a commitment to have 'recess' 15 minutes a day. They have set up some tetherball stations and cornhole games. Yay! I'd have to go play tetherball early since the ball will be scorching resting in the sun all morning. The event that brought me to this area- Skyline Free Summer Concert Series- is also held in this park on the side behind Lannie's Clocktower. I love music in general so any live music event, free at that, catches my attention. The section of the park behind Lannie's Clocktower, where the music series is held, actually sets down a bit so the traffic and passerbys off of Arapahoe are not nuisances to deal with while you enjoy your outing. There are also plenty of food and beverage venues nearby. I don't remember seeing any additional food carts or vendors out around the music area but, since it is on the mall, it's not really necessary. read more

I love this park, i frequented the park for the 3rd time tonight for the Colorado Rapids Rally. Certain nights food trucks will park here its a big little park thats quaint at the same time. Chairs and seats are around and even from the 16th st mall you can still be apart of the mix. The Grass is green and not to many homeless people go there if at all. read more

Great little park if you work downtown. For a refreshing mid day treat pick up a salad at the salad place on the park (formerly green) and enjoy some sunshine and people watching. It's also a great place to bring your lunch to and read. If you head to the north side of the park you can get away from the crowds. read more

This is such a strange park. Mostly, I come here to much my lunch on down, but the people watching is pretty great, too. From business folk, to gutter punks... Then, the weird installations of "things" to bring the community together--free basketball hoops in the spring, mini golf and ping pong currently, an ice rink in the winter... Really cool summer offerings -- games in the park, from about 11 am - 6 pm every day. They have mini golf, giant connect four, corn hole, foosball, etc etc etc. They also have a bunch of outdoor seating to lounge or eat a picnic with. The games are free and a bunch of fun! I would come back here on weekends if I lived in Denver....a fun and relaxing weekend activity in (most likely) beautiful weather. read more

Great little Park right next to the clock tower off 16th. The grassy area is not very big but in the summer they usually put out a mini golf course, yard games, and a Foosball table, all free. In the winter they put in an ice skating rink that's also free if you bring your own skates. The water sculpture is cool but only runs during the summer. Stay out of it though, it's not very clean. Also there tends to be a large number of homeless that hang out there. read more

I'm Tired of false advertising. I came to skyline park, disposable camera in hand and wearing and extra scarf in case it was windy up in the sky! This park is in fact flat on the ground, at the exact same altitude as the Denver streets! This was truly disappointing. I did find myself very pleased with the park so no harm done. read more
