This park is massive! We visited based on a recommendation from Southwest Airlines. We're spending the weekend in Colorado for the first time. Additionally it's our first time exploring Colorado, and Washington Park did not disappoint. The park offers a wide range of amenities including volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, and extensive walking trails. There's definitely something for everyone. We came specifically for the kids' playground, and it was impressive. The playground has a unique and thoughtful design, complete with an obstacle course that my son absolutely loved. There are porta-potties scattered throughout the park. I didn't use them, so I can't comment on cleanliness, but it's good to know they're available if needed. We stayed for less than an hour since this was the last stop on our itinerary. Still, it was the perfect spot for our kids to burn off some extra energy before we wrapped up our day.

After I retired in June, I started visiting the parks in Denver. Most are pocket size under 1 acre with kiddo play areas and picnic tables. Denver has two large parks, Cheesman and Washington. I have been hiking around the outside track of Wash Park most Monday's with a group from Denver Gym & Fitness. I usually take the RTD light rail, then switch to bus route 11 to reach the southeast corner near South High School. Other times I have driven. There is free public parking on the north end of the school parking lot or find a free street parking spot. This time I walked about 1 mile from my house in the Baker neighborhood to reach the northwest corner. I took my time and visited the North Lake Pavilion, the Wash Park Recreation Center, information signs, the two lakes and the great meadow and several flower gardens. I had a unexpected encounter with a red tailed hawk. It seem a bit domesticated, but was a beautiful animal. I gave notice to other people walking by. Some people stopped. A few people were so engrossed in their screens, they didn't acknowledge or look up. Sad staff of affairs, those people should have stayed away. An enjoyable afternoon.

One of the great things about this park is that you can find plenty of parking for free. Unlike other city parks out of state where you have to pay a parking fee, Wash Park is free. They have several parking lots but they're often closed or blocked off when I visit. But I've had zero problems finding parking. The park is huge. I remember coming here during the height of Pokémon Go and it could get crowded but it was quite fun. The paths divided between wheels and feet but a lot of people don't follow it. It's a large park with mini walking paths that slitter through the grass of the park. You'll encounter several off leash dogs at times so be careful. It's a nice park. If you want to take a seat in the benches, bring some sanitizing wipes with you.

Easy walk very crowded. Came here to explore the local parks. Plenty or parking around the outside areas. The ponds were lovely and frozen over. I went on a Sunday afternoon and you could not take more than 5 steps without being next to another person. If you are wanting a nice quite walk this might not be the place for you. Now if you are wanting something easy, outdoor and a little less than an hour this will be the spot for you. It is paved so you can bring strollers, bikes, skateboards or whatever else with wheels. I hoping to try it again in spring/summer and maybe ill go a little earlier in the day when less people are around.

Visited from California. Strolled and rented a surrey bike to ride around this semi-shaded park which has 2 lakes, 2 fun playgrounds (1 across from the Boathouse/rental shop is for younger kids), flower gardens. This was perfect for a warm-ish day. Btw, single surrey and peddle boats were both $28/hr+tax. They have other rentals available too. There's porta potties, but real restroom at the bottom of the boathouse in the middle of the park. Btw, the Farmers Market on South Peak Street on Sunday is a must if you like checking out local merchants especially for food and produce. More Travel/food tips on IG: @grace.loves.adventures

Anyone in or visiting Denver, this is my favorite park in the city! Washington Park is a gorgeous spot for exercising or lounging in the grass alike. I personally go to Wash Park whenever the weather is nice to skate the loop! I always see people skating, riding their bikes, running, walking their dogs, etc. Also, the loop does have some road access, so every now and then you might get a car trying to park inside, but I haven't experienced it too often and it never hindered my experience. Skating here is buttery smooth since it was repaved in recent years! Be mindful of any debris that might fall from the trees, but the pavement itself is lovely! I also enjoy the water scenery all around too! It's very refreshing to be out and about at Wash Park! For going on dates with yourself or getting a friend group together for some badminton or volleyball... this spot is a vibe!

Ample parking at Denver East. Franklin and Louisiana cross streets. Port-a-potties available through the park. Unfortunately the restrooms by the tennis courts were locked up. The lawns are decently manicured with trails both concrete and gravels

What a fantastic place to relax and enjoy nature. The Washington Park had an incredible combination of trails, community gathering, gardens, ponds, and great view. We loved the walking lanes with sections for pedestrian, bikers, and four legged companions. The vast grass areas and playgrounds took me back to my childhood. There we plenty activity options from volleyball to Frisbee and the site provides grills and even a fireplace for those cold winter months. I was truly amazed by the things this place had to offer and can't wait to come back.

We visited Washington Park two days in a row when we were in Denver recently. We met some friends at the playground on a Sunday afternoon so their kids could play while we caught up, and then we returned the following day for a walk. It is POPULAR. When we met them on Sunday afternoon, the park was packed, including the playgrounds. We were still able to find street parking on the perimeter of the park, but it was definitely packed with people enjoying the playgrounds, grassy areas, and trails. When we returned on Monday morning, it was obviously much less crowded. We were able to do a full walk around the entire park. The park has two lakes (one where you can rent paddleboats), several gardens, and a rec center (with a cool new mural). We saw it all on Monday. It was a little drier since we were there in summer (last week of August), but it was still pretty, and it's great to have such a large park in any city! I'm sure if we lived here, we'd be there a lot. Overall, a nice place for a range of activities (walking, throwing around a football, a picnic, playground time for kids). (FYI - the bathroom was a necessity since we had driven in from western Colorado before meeting our friends, and I wish I hadn't had to use those bathrooms by the Mount Vernon Garden area of the park - yuck. I wish I'd thought to stop on the way, but just thought I should share that those bathrooms are pretty awful.)

The queen of Denver urban parks - Wash Park. Today, I enjoyed the trail around the south lake and central lawn. The full loop took about 35 minutes, and I saw ducks, geese, red wing blackbirds, a woodpecker, and humans. And dogs! In addition to the great trail, you'll find beautiful gardens, a huge lawn for volleyball and other sports, paddle boats (in the summer), fishing, and a great playground for the kids. I really can't add much more to the hundreds of reviews already here - other than to say this is in the "worth a drive" category.

Absolutely love this park and how active everyone is! Nice trails for everyone & even the local wild feathered friends like to take a little hike on them as well. Beautiful nature throughout and it feels great being in the shadow of the clouds on a hot day and we gladly welcomed the little sprinkles as well. Huge grassy areas and a place for picnics to gather with family & friends. Many fur babies to be seen. Walking alongside their person or in the bike basket enjoying their ride! Nature is so healing and everyone looked so happy & content here. Lots to do here! Including water activity rentals! Check it out!

The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? The final fireworks display in Creekside Park is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015. I, for one, will be there to help send Creekside Park out with a bang. Yelp Review #400

Or to just play at the park, and a lot of people go there for running, biking, or playing soccer. One of the best things about this park is that it did not smell bad. I noticed because I know some parks have a stinky smell, but this one did not. Even though we went during the summer, it wasn't super hot and there were not a bunch of bugs for that time of year. Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it.
