Confluence Park is such a fun place to hang out. It's breakable and walkable and a great place to bring a blanket and people watch and have a picnic and enjoy the Denver sunshine.

Beautiful, eye-catching park. Seems like the city's watering hole for folks to stay cool in the heat. It was lovely seeing little kids playing in the creek. The water was shallow enough for them to be safe while playing. Parking nearby was easy.

Great place to chill and for those brave enough to take a dip in the cold river, it's great on a very hot summer day.

Gotta be honest, the body of water that the map refers to as a "River" is unimpressive. It's hard to believe some of the more western cities were founded on such minor features (by comparison, the District of Columbia sits at the confluence of one large, tidal river and a smaller one, but also has a substantial creek that frankly seems bigger than the South Platte river). This park makes the most of it, however, linking a set of trails where an even smaller creek joins the river. The upside is that the water is clear and swimmable, and several people (and some dogs) were happily using it to cool off, either wading in the shallows or taking a tube down a miniature set of rapids. There were a couple of bits of broken glass, and occasionally some random food scraps floated down the creek for some reason, but overall, it seemed cleaner than I would expect for an urban waterway.

I absolutely love this park! It's my favorite in Denver. So much that I decided to spend my birthday here. It's a dogs dream as the perfect playground with grass and water! It's one train station stop away from where I live so very convenient to get to!

Absolutely beautiful! A good amount of shade, places to get into the water. So beautiful and picturesque. If I loved nearby I would be there every day.

Decent little park near Denver. Nothing crazy special but a nice little patch of green grass that one could lay out on.

This is a great spot to lounge and grab a cup of joe. You get a view of Downtown up close and the bubbling river is your free entertainment. There is an amphitheater like seating area where I hope there will be performances when the weather warms up. It is the start of the Cherry Creek path, so you can walk for endless miles to your heart's content.

Come to this park for the artwork! I was staying in downtown & during one of my Lyft rides, the driver recommended I check out this park. It was only about a mile from my hotel so i walked here in the morning. The river in this park is really nice and I enjoyed watching all the happy dogs here. The most striking difference between this park though and City Park and a couple other parks in Denver I checked out is the art on the stone walls. Just a couple notes: Make sure you stay on the side of the river designated for walkers (the other side is for bikers). You'll also see a few homeless people at this park in the morning but I wasn't bothered and didn't feel unsafe at all as there were a lot of walkers around. I def recommend checking out this park, totally worth it for the art and to build up an appetite for more breweries later!

Ask the Community - Confluence Park

Where do people park for free in this area?

Ha! That's a good question. I just park in the neighborhood and walk to the park

Is there a place to rent Segways or mopeds or kayaks or rafts? And are the rapids very dangerous for beginner kayakers?

Confluence Kayaks is right nearby and rents. They could answer your skill question for certain but from a lake kayaker's point of view, I'd be a little nervous about the ones at Confluence Park.

The flowers are all in bloom right now [mid- June] and although the parking is free, it's full today but there is street parking that's also free. There is a good amount of parking and street parking as well. I quite enjoyed the orangerie, and the dome with rainforest inside, which had a wonderful little treehouse you could walk up. Lots of really cool tropical plants live here, away from the arid Denver environment. Further into the garden, you can enjoy multiple different styles of gardens, surrounding various beautiful water features. The japanese garden surrounds a large calm pond, and there were a lot of bunnies frolicking about. Further in there is a small bonsai garden. There is also a plains garden, an alpine garden, and a few different types of flower gardens including a Victorian secret garden. I really enjoyed the vibe of walking through these areas, and feel very jealous of people who live in the apartments nearby and can walk through this garden in their free time anytime they wish. The garden features two cafes -- one more interior to the garden which has ice cream and a few entrees, and one more near the exit of the garden which is covered and has bathroom access. I recommend heading to the first one to shelter from rain. Loved the hot cider, it was so good! There's also a huge gift shop with a lot of different things you can buy. I highly recommend visiting for people who hare in the area. It's a great place to burn a few hours and relax/decompress in nature!

The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? The final fireworks display in Creekside Park is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015. I, for one, will be there to help send Creekside Park out with a bang. Yelp Review #400

I forgot about the joy of watching fireworks, it was like I was five years old all over again with a permanent grin plastered on my face. Thank you Vicki P. for showing me some of the best fireworks in Denver. Or to just play at the park, and a lot of people go there for running, biking, or playing soccer. One of the best things about this park is that it did not smell bad. I noticed because I know some parks have a stinky smell, but this one did not. Even though we went during the summer, it wasn't super hot and there were not a bunch of bugs for that time of year. Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. Overall Experience: My husband and I went right before sundown to do a picnic and painting date that also served as a photo shoot. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it. I love the dead and barren trees in November, we don't get that in California and paired with the cold, it feels weirdly nostalgic of something I've never had and warming on the inside (yes, I'm insane). I also passed by a lot of joggers and dog walkers in the mid morning. Very safe. I passed by 2 small lakes with some water fowl nearby, standard mallard ducks and Canadian geese. Very calming.
