    Ferril Lake
    Carrie M.

I always like to visit a city's main park. I read that this is a big park, but I checked the map and felt I had walked most of it within an hour because it looked like I had reached the end of it with the road. I'm sure I just didn't know where to go, but I promise that I looked at the park map. Ferril Lake was nice to walk around. There were very few people there on a weekday afternoon in June, but there were lots of Canadian geese. Free parking was abundant. I was pleasantly surprised by the rental boat prices. It's not something that particularly appeals to me, but I'm glad the prices were reasonable.

This was one of my favorite places while visiting Denver for the first time. I ended up staying here longer than I needed to, just because it felt good. I went during late afternoon/early evening time just as it was cooling down. I saw a few bunnies that were adorable! One even let me get super close. The area around Ferril Lake is just so relaxing. Just pick a bench in the shade and enjoy people watching. Parking was a breeze. I would definitely return if I were to come to Denver again.

I love visiting this park. There are so many trails to walk/run. Definitely a great place to go if you want to get in a few miles. It is very peaceful here with the two ponds (Ferril and Duck Lake) and all the open grass areas. It also a great place to come walk your dog. I see many dog walkers on my visits. I have even seen people using the open grass areas to have dog training classes! City Park is located right next to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. If you listen closely, you may be able to hear some of the animals such as the elephants! They've got tons of geese, ducks, and squirrels that hang out here. I see bird watchers come here especially over by Duck Lake that borders the zoo. They have two playgrounds here. One is on the eastern side on the other side of the lake as the building. The other is the city park playground. It is located behind the building next to the lake, down the hill and past the statue with the cannons around it. That city park playground is really great. They've got so many different types of equipment for all ages. They have different things that a typical playground such as a small bike loop that has mini hills for kids to ride their bikes on. They have a climbing structure that is shaped like a sea serpent and a tall, silo like structure that the kids can climb through with a slide at that top. Tip: Ferril lake in the center of city park has duck boats that you can rent.

I've always really liked City Park. It's a great place for walking and exploring. There are beautiful old trees and nice playgrounds. The Museum of Nature and Science and the Zoo are both near the park. Jazz in the Park is Sunday nights in the summer, and is always very fun.

Lovely and lively park. *Leave a park cleaner than you found it I have been here so many times. It is a large park so careful where you park as depending which lot you choose you could be walking quite a bit. Museums, a lake with swan boats, jungle gym, tons of picnic areas, you won't run out of space here. The lake events are decently priced! There are doing a lot of construction here and beautifying some of the area. Great place to walk the dog and relax. It seems like depending on the weekend you will have a different event to check out. Farmers markets, music in the park, arts festivals. The only don't side is that most of the water fountains and fixtures are not working. Definitely a bummer since it has been so hot. Overall 4/5

One of the best parts of our stay in Denver was walking through City Park in mid-April. Absolutely gorgeous landscape with trails and blooms under a beautiful blue sky. We even saw a majestic bald eagle. So many photo ops and chances to sit and appreciate the views. If you want a place to elevate your mood and mesmerize your senses, go here!

The city park is Denver's premier regional park, which contains major attractions of the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and faculties like tennis courts, horseshoes, baseball, football and soccer fields, picnic areas etc. There are two lakes for wild ducks and swan boats, with quite a few walking trails around.

I visited the park for a birthday party. The playgrounds were fun for the kids and there was plenty of shade on a hot day. The port-o-potties received overwhelmingly positive feedback on how clean they were, which was a shocker. The duck pond was nearby and was also fun to check out.

I don this the cultural park of the city as it houses the science museum and zoo. It also has a few monuments and sculptures. I like how the paths wind a bit. The path gets a little narrow near the zoo and it is more like a sidewalk outside the park. On the southern section you will find a nice "lake" and open fields. When biking near the zoo and museum, one needs to be extra aware of car traffic trying to park and exit.

If you could only visit one park in the city of Denver this is the one I would recommend. City Park really lives up to its name in having all the things you associate with a big parks in a metropolitan area. The Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are both located in City Park. The park also features lots of beautiful old growth trees, couple duck ponds. The park and the surround neighborhoods are kept very nice. Very clean. I've not seen any encampments or dump sites. I've never felt unsafe.

What an incredible park! By far the best park in all of Denver. One of the best views of the skyline and downtown I've seen in my 25 years of living in CO. Great waking trails and bike paths as well. Also a lot of recreational activities here like going on the lake, volleyball, and the zoo is right here too! Best park ever. 10/10

During my 24 hour visit to Denver, I visited City Park. It is a 330 acre vast area having well manicured park areas and two lakes. One of the lakes has ducks and a central tree that houses birds. It is very relaxing and peaceful walking around the large expanse of spaces. If you are looking for an escape from city hustle bustle or a few hours escape from life's rat race, this place is a must. It has the recipe for a mental tonic to calm all of your senses.

City park is such a large park you can spend hours walking around. There is a big lake. Lots of birds everywhere. Statues, fountain and a trail. Lack of trash cans and dog bags tho. Street parking only which can be hard too

    Beautiful day at the park

Awesome public tennis courts. Lots of them and well lit. Only problem is that they're always busy and it can be hard to get a court.

The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? The final fireworks display in Creekside Park is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015. I, for one, will be there to help send Creekside Park out with a bang. Yelp Review #400
