I had an amazing time at the Improv! Sam Comroe was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. The show had the entire room laughing all night. The food was great, everything came out fresh and tasted delicious. My server was amazing very attentive, friendly, and checked on us throughout the night without ever being intrusive. They made sure our drinks stayed full and that we had everything we needed, which really added to the overall experience. The comedians? Absolutely phenomenal. Foolish and Corey Holcomb had us laughing so hard I almost forgot how much I was spending. The venue, however... that's a different comedy routine. First, let's talk seating. Buying a ticket apparently doesn't buy you... well... a seat with the people you came with. This place runs like Benihana. You may show up with your date, but don't be surprised if you're suddenly on a double date with two complete strangers because the staff decided four people belong at every four-top--regardless of the empty tables sitting around the room. If you're an extrovert, congratulations. If you're not... start practicing your small talk. Then there's the menu. The wings were decent enough, but the fries looked like the ones every fast-food restaurant rejected during quality control... and somehow they still cost eight bucks a basket. The drinks? Let's just say they were priced like the bartender personally distilled the bourbon. Twenty dollars for a top-shelf margarita and fifteen for an Old Fashioned with Bulleit Rye. Add in a $50 bottle of Crane Lake wine, and suddenly you're wondering if someone accidentally handed you the wine list from a five-star steakhouse. And don't forget the two-item minimum. Yes, you've already bought your ticket. No, that doesn't matter. You'll still need to order--or you'll be charged anyway. Consider it the cover charge's cover charge. Would I go back? For the comedians, absolutely. They were worth every laugh. But the venue could use a little less focus on squeezing every last dollar out of the audience and a little more focus on the overall experience. WARNING: Do not eat here! The food is terrible and the service was horrible. I arrived an hour and 20 minutes early to get a good seat only to find out they seat you. That's fine, but as others have commented, the staff automatically gets tipped 18% and there is a two drink or two item minimum. My advice is to eat somewhere else (there are plenty of options in walking distance) and then get the two drink items. Our server never even came by to check on the food. She even walked away when my friend was still ordering. And then they forgot to add something to my order and I asked her about it and she said it didn't come with it. I looked at the menu and it did. I ended up having to get another server to get it. The lady never came by to clear our table. In actuality, no one came by to clear it from dirty plates and I had to flag people down to get it cleared. So if you're reading this, do your self a favor and get food at a real restaurant and then go to the show. Don't expect much from the service or food and just go for the comedy. I knew the deal was too good to be true. There was a comedian in town and tickets were being sold $5 (with fees, it ended up being $9.75) so we made it date night. Like everyone said, they do make you purchase 2 items from the menu per person. I went with buying 2 bottles of water (cheapest option and I can bring it home if I don't finish). We also got fries to have something to much on and the fries were somehow stale and salty. They definitely felt like frozen fries that were heat up when ordered. My daughter and I came for the Wicked sing-a-long. This was our first time at this venue. There is plenty of parking due to it being located at an outdoor mall. We arrived shortly after the doors opened. We were seated and our server Jeremy introduced himself. We were joined by another mother daughter duo who was seated with us. My daughter ordered the Rubber Chicken, a mixture of coconut rum, light rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice and sour. It came in a souvenir glass. I chose the Comedy Cosmo, a blend of citrus vodka, triple sec, lime juice, and cranberry. Both drinks were tasty. We also got a bottled water each. Tap water in a glass was not an option. We chose to order a couple apps to share. We got the grilled chicken quesadilla and added guacamole. We also got an order of the fried pickles with ranch. Our quesadilla came with sour cream and salsa as well. Both dishes were yummy and hit the spot. For a second round I chose the Espresso Martini from the specials menu. My daughter chose the Just Peachy from the Martini menu. The show itself was such fun. The artists roamed in and out through the crowd. The host, Jessica L'Whor was fantastic and kept the show moving at a good pace. The venue was full. The servers were working hard. I'll start with the positive- the entertainer was great! And that's where it ends. We arrived early so that we could get good seats since we were seeing a card magician and figured that being closer to the stage would be best. We were stoked that we were among the first 10 people in line since the tickets were GA. Well - one thing you should know about this place is that GA is NOT General Admission in the traditional sense. You arrive and they seat you where they want. Which means you could be one of the first to arrive and be sat toward the back, only to watch people who arrived after you be sat in front of you. So, if it's cold outside, don't bother waiting early to get in, because it won't matter! (Or get VIP seats, that's the only way to sit in front, anyway.) Next - the sound was AWFUL. The entertainer was actually getting upset onstage because they couldn't figure out how to maintain sound without feedback. They were either pretty much blasting all of our eardrums, or the poor guy had to yell so we could hear him. And lastly - as I'm sure you've read in other reviews before mine, the two item minimum. Yeah, we know most clubs have them. Which, fine, but at least make the food edible. We had called ahead and the recording (by the way we couldn't get anyone on the phone) "invites you to dine" with them, so we figured they at least had decent food, but nope! Dried up, flavorless chicken, cold soggy fries. My boyfriend's food was also "awful" as he described it. The stranger we were sat with got dessert and said it was "meh". But I will give one additional positive - our server was nice! Given everything, there would have to be a really epic performer coming for us to consider the venue again, and if so we'd probably purchase the VIP despite not wanting to give this venue any more of our money based on this experience. read more

I attended a drag brunch here with my book club. I had called ahead to let them know we had a large group (9 people) to see if we could be seated together. I called this place 15+ times with no answer, left voicemails with no return call. Majority of the emails listed on their website were 'undeliverable'. I did finally get an email back... the night before the show stating we could be seated "together" across multiple tables. When we arrived there were groups of our size seated together...not across multiple tables. The show was amazing. The food was mediocre and over priced. They also require a two item per person minimum so you're forced to purchase food and drinks. THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART-- three members of my group had false charges on their cards afterwards. I had an $219.38 extra charge on my card, another had a $77.20 extra charge and another had a $83.11 extra charge. We obviously have no problem paying our actual bills for the services we did receive but $379.69 of false charges is insane and absolutely unacceptable. I've called to speak to somebody...surprise nobody answers. They automatically apply a 18% gratuity so I didn't add any extra tip on my card- I left cash instead. My original bill was $71.24 and they ended up charging me $83.12. I agreed to the $71.24 and that's what I signed. So they added charges to my bill without my consent. I have called them but don't expect a call back. I will email them as well. I will never be returning to this venue. ABSOLUTE SCAM!! I caution others to be careful if attending any events here. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well. read more

Always a great t8me. The establishment has a cllose off time for entry so be sure to arrive on time. The lobby has a bar for drinks and food while you wait and it's a great opportunity to mingle with others. The facilities is always clean . The seating offers full tables, you might be seated with others but there is a enough space that you don't feel cramped. The food is so-so, I would eat before or after. Being like the 6th party in line, they seated us way in the back because we had a party of 8, when asked if they can seat us by 2 parties, 4 and 4, they said it wouldn't matter, they would still keep us in the back. When even a party of 12, they sat in 3 tables they had in the very front, 20 minutes after us! We had already consumed a whole round of drinks at the bar and were ready to order more and food. Even a manage wouldn't come and talk to us! We did pay like everyone else, $320 for 8 seats and 80 dollars of beverages at the bar! Simmore was excellent! However, the food was not. It was subpar subpar bar food. For it to be as expensive as it was I would've thought the quality would've been higher, now if it would have been low price food with a cheap quality I might've said huhhh. The waiter Nate was great however $18.99 for seven wings no side no drink ridiculous-at least they were hot. My tab came to $78 and I was so very disappointed. My cocktail, the purple rain Was a sad sad cocktail @$13.99, It was like drinking purple Kool-Aid. And let's not start on how big the comedy club is. I've been to a couple of Improv's in my time: San Jose and LA (Hollywood). Tonight, we hit up the Denver spot to check out Deon Cole. So far no improv is the same but all provide a great platform to see some legit comedy live. This Denver location is so unsuspecting as it's in the middle of an outdoor shopping mall and not far off of 70 in Northfield. The upside to the location is that parking is ample. To the right of the box office, the entry will take you past the bar and through a hallway before you are ID'd, tickets are scanned, and you're seated. Seats are based on how early you purchased your tickets. I appreciate that. You're a super fan? Cool. We're gonna seat you closer. Perhaps you're late on the draw, no problem. There's not a bad seat in the house. I will say this, the tables of 4 are for ants. We happened to buy a full table just for the two of us and am damn glad we did. Sharing with 2 strangers would've been really weird at that proximity. If you can swing it, do the 4 topper. We bought tickets for the 7pm Saturday night show. The website said doors at 545 but that seemed aggressive so we showed up closer to 615. Solid service from start to finish. Seated immediately without any line and our order was taken by Hannah. Scanned the code for the menu, ordered some bar grub and drinks and waited for the show to start. The calendar doesn't go out further than April at this point, so I'll be checking back to see who else is coming to town. Will definitely be back. read more

Food was awful and so pricey for essentially "Bar Food" and the service is very lacking as they automatically add the 18% gratuity to your bill. So no real motivation to provide good service. People tip more than 18% if the service is good but they haven't figured that out yet Talent was great. But Improve wants to empty your pockets with their prices. read more

If you look at all of my reviews they are 5 *. I was annoyed last night when I went to the restroom and came back and realized for a basket of chicken tenders, fries and two sodas we paid $69. HOW. So they add 18% gratuity to the tab with lagged service, then have those hand-held tablets with the auto tip. Tricking my husband to give another tip. Then without knowing all of that I wanted to be generous and gave him another $10. Dude made a $26 tip. What a scam. read more

Overall it was a great night at the Improv! The headliner and the opener were both great. Tickets were $30-$35 a piece but there was a two item minimum as far as food and drink orders go (additional $20-30ish bucks). Each person had to order two items and an 18% gratuity is included. The food menu isn't healthy at all (as expected), so if you eat healthy and don't drink....you have to order two bottled waters I guess and tip 18% on them. That really was inconvenient for someone who eats healthy. My suggestion is to add some healthier menu items. They don't have to be complicated, something like veggies and hummus would work, or adding gluten free bun options for sandwiches/burgers. The other thing that was annoying was the service. We sat there a while waiting to order and people who came after us (like 15 minutes after) were helped first. The show is the reason for the four stars. The service and food area can improve. BUT still a fun night if you don't expect much food/service wise! read more

Ten days ago I got tickets for the 5:30 show at Denver Improv for tonight from Eventbright. Didn't think anything of it, as I have never actually paid to go to a comedy club...it is typical for them to offer comp tickets, knowing they will make their money off the 2 drink minimum. This morning I went to their website to check the menu options. They have it VERY clearly posted that unless you bought tickets directly from them, they are invalid. I wanted to check to make sure the Eventbright offer is valid. Contacting them is impossible. According to their information on Facebook, they have been open since 10 this morning. I emailed them at 9:50, asking them to clarify. No response. Nobody answered their phone. The message they have there tells you to email, which I'd already done. I waited all day for an answer, but didn't get one. Their box office opened at 4. I called at 4:15. Nobody picked up...their message says to leave your name and number, but then their system then tells you that it is unable to take a message. It is less than an hour before show time and I still have no response. We couldn't get to the show on time even if they did decide to respond now. Lesson learned: I will no longer use Eventbright to find tickets...I will only be getting tickets that are linked directly from venues. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go figure out something for dinner. Silly me, not planning ahead because I was looking forward to a night out! read more

We went to the Denver Improv on 6/21, the 9 pm show. We were a group of 14 people. We were sitting at table 307. I forgot our waiter's name I should have gotten it, but he was so rude, I didn't even want to speak to him. He had a black baseball cap, which he wore backwards. We were one of the first 20 people in. We ordered a couple of drinks. The first comedian came on and was almost done, so we flagged down our waiter to order food and another round of drinks. However, he was so rude, he shook his head and said No, I can't help you, I have other orders I have to get to that haven't even been ordered. Like Dude, this is your job. If it's overwhelming, then get a new job. I understand he had other tables, but he didn't have to be rude about it. This lady at the table behind us was trying to get his attention, but he just shook his head and said No, I can't take your order. She was like I am not ordering you forget my Sprite. He still didn't listen to her and walked away. We told him we just wanted to let him know we wanted to order more. He was like Well, I'm busy. He was such a jerk; other people in my party didn't even want to order anything after he was so rude. So we didn't, we waited till after the show and went to Brothers down the street to drink. I am pretty sure everyone who had this guy was treated the same way. We heard people saying he's an ass. And they weren't wrong. Even when we first ordered, he was a jerk; his attitude and his demeanor with us and all the people he waited on were awful. I looked around at other waiters, and they were all nice to people when they flagged them down and took their order, not ours. He told us NO, I have other orders to do. I was going to go and speak to someone right then and there about him, but I didn't want to get up and ruin my day more. We had been to Improv for our first date in 2012 and thought it'd be fun to revisit. We were horribly disappointed when they tried to sit us at a dinky table with strangers. We immediately left and asked for a refund which we were told would not be an issue. We moved on, but months later I'm still not able to get an answer about this refund and is currently in dispute. We will never go back to Improv or recommend it to anyone. Beware, any stars above 1 on Yelp are from years prior when this place was better. read more

the comedian's were great, hilarious and friendly after the show. However, the young female bartender working the late shift there was incredibly horrible due to her slow and forgetful service and causing unnecessary drama with paying customers that led to holding up the entire show starting and on top of that lying about her horrible service she gave. I am unaware of her name or I would state it for better reference. Arrived early and bought tickets for even second they went on sale and got put in the far back though it says seating closest to stage is people who bought tickets early Food runner dropped off wrong food that had to be re made and took another 20 minutes they don't follow state rules for one refill on sodas and teas and charge had to also ask for the glass that you pay for if you get an adult beverage wouldn't come back or waste time pay the extra $20-30 and get seats to the comedian your coming to see at a better venue read more

Good comedy show. Didn't understand why they sat in the last possible row when we were one of the first people to arrive. We were also sat at a very tight table with people we didn't know when there were other open tables available, which remained available throughout the whole show. 20% service fee automatically added to all bills. Our server, Patrice, was so nice. What wasn't nice, was when she added an additional 20% on top of the bill, even though I clearly signed the check for no additional tip. Diners beware. read more

UPDATE: this business does not answer their phone. They stole our money now we have to drive there to get the money back. THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES !!! ... My wife bought tickets for Gary Owen in January for a July show. They changed the date to December 23 and never notified us. Good thing we looked before we went to the show in July and realized that Gary was not even performing that night. We called and requested a refund and the people were being jerks about it, and trying to not give us a refund. After about a half hour of going back-and-forth, they finally agreed to give us a refund. We still have not received a refund and it's now August. Be careful buying tickets from here. They stole from us and I will leave this review up here until these thieves give us our money back. read more
