The online menu shows beef stroganoff as a meal option. They didn't have it the day we went. My husband opted for the pork tenderloin. He said it was like trying to chew on a car tire - tough, wouldn't cut with the butter knife provided. My salmon was good. Our granddaughter had a chicken salad, she said it was good. Service was great. The play was fun. A bad part was, there was a drunk grandma sitting behind us that was yelling, hooping and hollering through most of the play. The staff should've cut her margaritas off earlier. The seats were terribly uncomfortable. Would we go again? Probably. It's affordable and we can opt to not eat there. read more

The Jesters Dinner Theater was one of the friendliest restaurant/theaters I have ever been to. Josh and Joce (?) the servers were joyful and efficient. The food was delicious. I ordered fried shrimp and I was expecting the flat frozen batter coated shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised with fresh shrimp, not over cooked with a light homemade batter. The salmon looked great too. The play was excellent and fun, done by kids ages 8 to 15ish. A very enjoyable evening was had by our whole family. read more

Food not good at all. Yuck. I had some pretty bad issues that night to the next day and didn't even eat much of it. Atmosphere not good due to outdated, dirty. Service was fine. Actors were good- I feel bad for them having to work here. Bad stage, no real props, gas station bathroom feel, dive bar vibes. Not recommended. read more

I always enjoy my time at Jesters. They do a good job of putting on shows that are well managed, well displayed and acted. They do a good job of setting the mood and the scene so whatever time of year it is and what you're going to see, transports you to that time period or season. Although Jester's Dinner Theater has a friendly down home, old country theater atmosphere, the evening out with family was mediocre at best. Our upcharge appetizer, "homemade" (doubt it, or they need a new recipe) artichoke dip with dippers came out in a tiny cup with nasty dried out white coated baby carrots and some pita crackers. (eww) 2 at my table ordered the chicken cordon bleu, included in the dinner price, which were overcooked to the point it was dried out cardboard with burnt areas that were inedible. My lovely dinner guests politely replied the "rice" was good. Another member of party got the salmon, an $8 surcharge, which smelled so fishy the entire table could smell it. I ordered the prime rib,$12.00 upcharge. It was actually edible. We paid extra for coffee, half full cups, no refills..... sigh On to the show, Shrek the Musical. The woman who played Donkey was amazingly talented, and the man who played Shrek quite entertaining. However, they were not enough to truly carry a show to what you would expect the quality of a dinner theater to be. However, the absolute worst was an off-stage employee of Jester's sitting at the table near us whooping and hollering (yep, hollering) at the end of every scene...as if her obnoxiously loud cheering would somehow influence how we viewed the quality of the show. The Theater itself is in a very old building with no upgrades, threadbare carpets, aged bathrooms, etc, which is actually not a turnoff for my family as we've attended some amazing shows in worn out theaters, and since the price of the show only tickets are affordable, my family and I would have absolutely considered attending more shows just to support live theater, but the loud, uncomfortable braying of the off stage employee was just too much to endure in such a small theater. read more

I happened across this small theatre several years ago when a friend of a friend was performing in Aida. I was not expecting much from such a simple venue, but I was pleasantly surprised! Considering this is more of a local/community theater, the local talent I have seen over the years here has been incredibly impressive! Of course, as any community theater experiences, some shows (especially early on in a run) can be a little rocky, but later in the run they have it down! I saw Les Mis twice with two different groups of friends, and each time (many different cast members each time), was completely blown away, as were my friends! I could not believe that such a small theater pulled off such a huge show and did it well! Godspell was amazing, Beauty and Beast was fun, and of course the annual run of Scrooge is phenomenal! If you walk in expecting a more expensive, Boulder Dinner Theater or Broadway experience, you may be slightly disappointed. Don't compare this intimate little venue to those, because for what it is and what they have to work with, it is a fun, wonderful experience. I also thought the tickets were slightly pricy at first, but have since attended shows at other local dinner theaters and realized Jesters charges significantly less than those. Kuddos to the family that runs Jesters, because it cannot be an easy business to be in, but their love of theatre definitely shines through in everything they do! The performance is amazing! The food is average so they get an above average rating with me. The dinner doesn't need to be fancy as I understand the balance of price, margin, and performance cost but there are some great dishes that are not expensive that taste amazing. I have 6 children and love to cook so I know what they are up against. Well worth your time and money, it is a neat experience!!!! read more

This place if FANTASTIC. I see alot of theatre and this is some of the best I have ever seen, I've been going to several years and have never lefy dissapointed. The wait staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. My favs are the Cordon Bleu and the Baron of Beef (Roast Beef and Mashers with Veggies). They also offer up some of the best desserts I have ever had. The Mouse is DELICIOUS and I am always happy to visit. The only complaint I have is that sight is sometimes an issue depending on seating. The price although still expensive is the cheapest any dinner theatre can offer in the state of Colorado, I cant wait to go back!!! read more

Venue: The restaurant is VERY small, no more than 30 tables, room for maybe 120-150 diners. It isn't cramped, but not very roomy either. Acoustics are good for the performance but not for dining - sound carries across the room with very little effort. Performances: The performances are amateurish but enthusiastic, the sets very "high school" level. The proprietors run a theater school and this feels very much like term exams. It can be fun, as long as you know what to expect. Staff: The wait staff was friendly and responsive. One waitress, who was also performing as a dancer in the show, stopped to clear a plate from our table during her exit in one scene during the performance - that made me laugh. Food: Here's the bad news. I had the prime rib, and while it was competently roasted to good temperature, it was unremarkable in any way. The sides were virtually unpalatable: tough wrinkled vegetables clearly microwaved. There is a way to microwave tender, flavorful vegetables, but this is not it. The mud pie I had for dessert was classic and delicious, but I couldn't help but suspect, given the quality off the rest of the food, that it was dispensed from a store-bought package. Overall I probably won't go back. I applaud the hometown, mom-n-pop ambience, it just isn't to my taste. read more

For a small theater, they do a decent job, but don't expect fancy sets or costumes. The actors are decent, and very dedicated, but probably all have day jobs. The food is ok, nothing remarkable, but not bad. The dining area is quite small, which makes for intimate performances. Decorations are minimal, but since the lights are off during the show, I guess that doesn't matter too much. Basically, you can have a fun, affordable evening with the show and optional dinner (nice to have that choice!), but don't expect it to be large or fancy. If you enjoy high school plays, you will love this. read more

Best live theater around! Family-owned and intimate operation and setting. I have seen 5 main stage plays/musicals there - most recent was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - sooo much talent always on that stage! - But Adam killed it (good way) Service is always top-knotch, the actors are serving! And my daughter has been in a Junior's Class and Scott, owner and one of the directors, is incredible with the children; the junior actors really brought their A-Game to the day of performance! Le Miserables was playing my first time going to Jesters, and the show was amazing! This is a community theater and the passion shows. While nobody is a professional actor, every cast member brought a special talent to the production. From the youngest and newest performer to the seasoned actors, everyone made their part come to life. The entire cast are also the staff for the dinner, desserts and drinks! WOW! That really requires a devoted person to maintain the character while serving, hosting, cooking and bussing tables. I did not purchase dinner with my ticket but after arriving decided to order an appetizer, the artichoke dip was superb. =) In the future I will purchase dinner as it only adds approximately $10 -$12. I will definitely be returning. I plan to purchase season tickets, the discount is incredible and I'm a firm supporter of local business and community. read more

So we have been to Jesters twice now. First time was for the Christmas play and it was good. The second time was for Jekyll and Hyde, we did not enjoy this play at all and the food this time was not good either. Our biggest complaint was the chairs, with dinner and a 2 hr play you are sitting in these horribly uncomfortable chairs for 3+ hours and by the middle of the play I wanted to stand up and leave. Between that and the food I doubt we are going to give this Theatre a 3rd chance. :( read more

Jesters Dinner Theatre is a fantastic little venue in the heart of historic downtown Longmont, CO. They offer an array of productions, currently 'Elton John's Aida' and a very sweet Children's production of 'Suessical', which I enjoyed this past Sunday evening. Upcoming productions this season include Fiddler on the Roof and Cabaret. The offer appetizers, dinner and dessert options during the majority of their performances. I especially love the Chicken Cordon Bleu and Chicken Quesadilla. Additionally, they have a selection of soft drinks wine, beer and cocktails. Since the performers are also the wait staff, you're guaranteed to get great service. On Friday nights, they have an event called 'Encore' which showcases fantastic musical performances by local talent, followed by notable stand-up comedians, many who have performed at Comedy Works in Denver. Encore is a great opportunity to catch big city talent in your neighborhood. Jesters Dinner Theatre and School for Performing Arts is a fun little venue, great for families and large groups. I love the fact that we have Live theatre in Longmont. We go consistently and love it every time. They utilize local talent and one of our friend's daughter (middle schooler) gets to perform a few times a year. That is a very cool extra service to the community. Yikes. This was an awful experience. I agree with everything P.K said. I brought my 60 year old parents here for my father's retirement gift and it was disappointing. The service was awful, we had to wait 30 minutes to get drinks! Then another 30 minutes for food! The food was microwaved and bland. On top of that, the tables are so crammed in such a small space that anytime someone needed to use the restroom they were asking others to stand up and then climbing over chairs to get out! The cast is great, the play is decent, the venue is TERRIBLE, the food is AWFUL and the service is UNACCEPTABLE. Drop the dinner, change the seating, upgrade the space and drop the price. Regardless, we will never be back. read more

Expecting a dinner theatre experience was our first mistake. This is more like eating in the school cafeteria and then sitting through the 5th grade production of a play. I was in shock. I think they need to change their marketing demographic to children and the parents of those children. My recommendations- change the ticket price to something more in line with an elementary school play- like $5-8; forget dinner and make money on popcorn, soda and candy. Change the seating so that the tables are angled to the stage for maximum visibility. Forget the alcoholic beverages. Change out the carpeting and clean the fixtures, ledges, etc. to get rid of the musty smell. Change the entrance so it feels welcoming. Now it feels like you're entering a haunted house- dark and creepy and a little unsettling. I repeat take the dinner option away- it gives an expectation that can not possibly be met. Change your target demographic to a children's theatre. I feel very ripped off. $40 for one dinner/show ticket! read more

Dinner Theater/Theatre. A description... Dinner and Theater. Have my options been Dinner and a Movie, or a Show with a Wine Tasting, perhaps the results would have been the same. However, when it was all said and done, I was happy to go on home. This presentation of theater, preceded by dinner, seemed to go on and on. We arrived just before 12:30PM on a Sunday afternoon. We left at 5:00PM. All in all, the experience had trappings of kindness, fun, an afternoon out on a Sunday in downtown Longmont... I was excited to go, because I like theater and I was once an avid attendee at the Denver Center of Performing Arts. Back in the days when I was hobnobbing with the actors and actresses at the DCPA, hanging out at the bar across from the Buell, it was all a heck of a lot of fun and drunken fun. In my later years, I still look back fondly on those memories and the people that inhabit them. So, for all intents and purposes, I was more than happy to go. Back to Jesters; In terms of people, absolutely wonderful, funny, caring, interested AND focused in doing what they are doing. The younger staff, a group of children learning the craft of theater ranging in age, it appeared, from 13 to 17 (I could be wrong on the ages, I didn't ask), had a lot of great energy and I enjoyed their presentation, song and dance. There was even a 'sung' description, performed by the students of Jesters, of what Jester's has to offer and giveaways, that from a mktg perspective, isn't such a bad thing. The play that I saw, "Mame", was fine in context and acted by locals, I think, in almost all roles. Certain movements and stage positions were off at times, but, I greatly enjoyed watching the actress portraying Auntie Mame, the little boy playing the nephew, and there was a number of performances that stuck out in a way that still makes me chuckle. Was it perfect? No. Did I expect perfection? No. In parts and pieces, I had a great time. Perhaps it is because of the food that was served that my memory isn't grand... the wait staff was also the actors and actresses in the play... I have no fault there. Also, the food, though standard fare, to me had the feel of 'lunchroom food' or 'food served at the local nursing home'... We paid $29.95 each and then had ice cream floats in addition to the dinner and those were extra. I tipped $14 or so which brought the bill to about $84 give or take a dollar with tax... so, why am I complaining? Somehow, my perceived value thinks I overpaid. I am tempted to go back for Scrooged, but, not the dinner. read more

A prior review made me expect our last minute Valentines Day Sunday matinee of "Little Women, the Musical" would be a disaster. Absolutely not. We've probably hit every NOCO dinner theater in the last few years and this one's worth the 4 stars at least. We had elbow room! The cast was professional and the food was far above High School cafeteria the early reviewer commented on. You can go to more expensive theaters for a different experience but to me this was more "pure" theater with the intimacy and closeness to the stage for every table. Not a microphone used by a performer and the proximity brought you more into the performance. A very family friendly place too judging by the crowd which was very young to geriatric. We plan on returning and recommend it to others. read more

We went to Jesters for the first time to celebrate a birthday. We had a romantic Sunday afternoon dinner at a 2 seater table in the front row. The prime rib was awesome. Our servers Paulette and Margot made our time memorable. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to have a enjoyable Sunday afternoon and early evening. The musical Legally Blonde was great.All cast members gave it their all. We will most definitely be back. read more
