I went to this dinner two days in a row and both times the service and food was great!!! I have enjoyed my experience with this franchise very much. The staff is very friendly and speedy. The food is made with quality ingredients to order and the location is clean. Plenty of parking with power and wifi inside for students on the go. I've been to this Denny's a few times, and on Sunday my daughter hit me with the classic "I don't know what I want" routine. So, like any parent trying to keep the peace, I took her to Denny's hoping the menu would magically inspire her. Honestly... I'm just not impressed with the menu anymore. I used to like it, but somewhere along the way it lost its spark. Everything feels super basic now. Not bad, just... there. The prices are fine, but nothing on the menu jumps out as "Ooh, I need that." To be fair, I might've been extra irritated because my kid was driving me up the wall. We ended up walking out anyway because she suddenly decided she didn't want anything after all. So maybe this review is part Denny's, part parenting trauma. Came here with the bf for a late night food run. He wanted something healthier than fast food and this was open. I came along to keep him company... and got some dessert along the way. The service was decent - the waiter took our order quickly and our food came out in a short time. He seemed surprised I didn't want caramel on my dessert, but asked if I wanted whipped cream instead - of course I did! My bf's order came out wrong, but he ate it anyway. We both enjoyed my cookie dessert. Since it was late at night, there weren't that many other people inside. It was quiet and we were able to have a conversation about random things. Overall, I'd come back if we were ever in the mood for decent late night food. It's Denny's so I'm not expecting much but our meal here was less than desirable. We came here with our kids and ordered two kids meals, country fried steak and stuffed french toast. We waited over 30 minutes for our food even after asking about it multiple times. Our kids' mac and cheese came out looking like it had been heated up in the microwave and plopped out of a rectangular container (at least try to hide it...) I had a side of veggies with my plate, and it was overmicrowaved and super limp, near mush. Lastly, we accidentally spilled a glass of water at our table. Yes, it was our fault but we tried to do our best to clean it up and notified the waiter as soon as we could. There was water on the floor for a long time before someone finally came to mop it up. I had flown in from the east coast, hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon, and the breakfast bar at my hotel was ridiculously expensive. Time for a big ass breakfast at Denny's. The Super Slam was on special at $8.99 and had exactly what I needed: 2 each eggs, sausage, bacon and buttermilk pancakes and a side of hash browns. And no toast, which comes on other slams along with the pancakes, a carb overload. It was fine. Eggs a bit small, bacon and sausage average, but I requested A-1 and tabasco on the side and slathered the pancakes in the drippings when I was done with my eggs and potatoes. Totally hit the spot with an extra star for value. (To replace the ingredients of the Super Slam with the build-your-own slam would run you around $15.) Coffee was good (and expensive, at $3.69), the place was clean, service was prompt and there was an unusual bonus: an easy listening soundtrack with an excruciating rendition of Robert Earl Keen's "The Road Goes on Forever". The restaurant was more than half empty there was only a total of two tables & the employee started to clean all the clean tables instead of seating or helping me. The Santa Clara El Camino Location, Lawrence expressway one.... I met here with my Arts and Crafts friends for lunch and our server was very attentive and pretty amazing to us. I got the Ultimate omelette and thought it was really fresh, jam packed with lots of good crisp veggies. My toast was amazing and perfect and I just got a lemon water with my order. My friend really enjoyed her brunch and she is retired and has no complaints. Kudos and love. A dock of the stars because the area can be a little sketchy its like that pocket of San Jose where it's best not to stick around. So this review is for this Dennys on the corner of 1st st and Alma. I came in on 10/24 and was sat down almost immediately but was only given the regular menu. After I asked for the $2,$4,$6,$8 menu the server seemed annoyed and advised me that you can only order something off that menu if you're ordering a full entree from their menu. I've been to plenty of Dennys before and have never been told that! so understand there is 2 or so items that are add ons and I understand, but to be told you can't order a grand slam off of there is a complete lie. The server was a latina woman with brown hair, when she came over to my table I let her know that I placed an online order since she wasn't going to let me order something on that menu without getting an entree but the website did. She seemed annoyed that I did that and when I went up to collect my order she was ringing customers up went to the back and her manager came and gave me my order. Her manager some lady with blonde hair or something still had the nerve to ask me for a 5 star review.... I let her know that I wasn't going to be doing that and why. She seemed like she does that a lot and gets away with it. I advise to stay away from these money hungry folks. read more
