I've been ordering breakfast here about 1-2 times a week for the past 6 weeks or so. And every time has been a positive experience. The ladies here on staff are very friendly and I can tell they are smiling every day even behind the masks which they are always wearing. This location has taken a lot of careful and important precautions for COVID-19 and have continued to operate business amidst this pandemic to the best of their ability. 3.5 rating: we came here at midnight after a long day in DC, it was a little busy that time of night. We were seated, I got an orange juice and then ordered the choconana breakfast which was 2 eggs of your choice, bacon, home fries and then pancakes with bananas, chocolate chips and whipped cream. It was all really good. Service was a little slow, our waitress was good. Sometimes I just want a plain and simple American dinner food. Denny's isn't the best but it sometimes meets that need. I'm from NJ which is the capital for dinners in America. We probably have 5 dinners in any given town. This has been my one Achilles heal in the dmv no great diners. Anyway I gave this place a try and it did disappoint a bit. The pancakes were good but I asked for my eggs over medium and they came over easy. Needless to say you get what you pay for and that's a lesson learned. The waitress was excellent and she was very attentive. The staff were having some weird conversations while o was trying to eat and read my book but I could be typing about that all day. Wooo Denny's! Cheap tasty food and a laid back atmosphere. It's not a Michelin Star restaurant for goodness sakes but it's pretty good for what it is. Have reasonable expectations and you won't be disappointed. Mary and Teresa are great servers and go above and beyond to make you happy. I have honestly never had a bad experience here nor have I ever had to wait longer than maybe 10 minutes for a table even on the weekend. I come back again and again, you should too. read more

Service is nice but leaves something to be desired. They don't really check up on you as often as they should. I'm a regular here and I love that they're open late because I come home from work pretty late and it works out. However, if you're thinking of getting any of the steaks, don't. They NEVER cook it right. Usually when I ask for medium rare, I get a medium well/well done steak. So this time I told them I wanted it rare just to see if they would get it to medium rare But they gave me a Pittsburgh steak!! Basically raw!! So I sent it back and asked them to cook it for like one more minute to get medium rare... It came back BURNT. Well done, with a large brown burn mark on the bottom like they forgot it on the stove. I didn't even eat it and the manager only took off 20% from the bill. Lesson learned; Don't expect to leave satisfied if you order the steak. read more

The real reason for this review is to point out that this store does not support the Orioles! We received coupons for a free Grand Slam with the purchase of a drink after an Orioles victory. So, my son and I went to Denny's to celebrate. On the door was a sign that said "We don't honor this coupon" with a picture of the coupon from the game. Boooo! So, instead of giving our money to Denny's, we went up the street to Tastee Diner. We went there late but I didnt think it would be so busy. I ordered steak and it was gray. I gave it back to the waitress to get it replaced. The second one was fine so I thought. The next day my stomach told me it was that gray steak probably cooked darker because I had the worse food poisoning I have ever experienced. I was so sick it felt like my intestines were twisted. They need to hire a new manager and more staff. First off the manager is going to tell the customers in front of me to have a seat because my waitress called out. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times before and had only nice thoughts about them. That is why I was disappointed about the service yesterday. We were sat at a table in the front of the restaurant near the checkout. The waitress we had, had only that table and a few others inside the restaurant. She took our orders without any problems. When our meals came, I had ordered scrambled egg whites which looked brownish and laid messy on the plate in a disorganized way. I didn't want to complain so I said nothing. The waitress was leaving in a hurry and we didn't have silverware. She would come back to ask if we needed anything but didn't wait for an answer. The whole experience was bizarre since we have been there before. I think the waitress may have been overwhelmed because she had customers in other areas inside the restaurant and couldn't keep up. Maybe management should consider how table assignments affect the patrons, to avoid confusions such as we encountered. read more

Ok, I admit it! I like Denny's. Is it culinary ecstasy? No. But it is late-night sustenance. So you've been out of college forever. So your metabolism won't allow you to consume 2000 calories after midnight without looking like you have elephantiasis of the buttcheeks the next morning. So you have to report to a cubicle by 0900, and it's gonna be hard fitting into slacks with your enlarged buttcheeks. If you're hungry late at night, this Denny's is the place to go b/c the service is topnotch! Food - I was so sad when they took the vegetable beef soup off the daily menu and typically, it's all gone after 9p.m. on the weekends. My favorite late-night meals: moons over my hammie w/ seasoned fries or hashed browns smothered and covered, garlic mushroom burger, the veggie omelet, and the country fried steak. The shakes and desserts are also very good but have been proven to cause hips to have the consistency of jello jigglers w/ prolonged consumption. Another reason I love Denny's is b/c they faithfully stick w/ Tabasco, which is an absolute MUST on hashed browns and fries and is delightful when mixed w/ ketchup . Boo to all those restaurants who have hired Cholula or her husband, Tapatio! Has anyone even checked their papers/documentation? USA! USA! USA! Service - Mostly older ladies and they are some of the sweetest servers ever. One of them reminds me of the "Hey sweetheart" charm I received down further South - though she's never called me puddin. I'd like to shed some sober light on the terribly inconsistent reviews you can read about this restaurant. The reason the reviews appear to be ALL OVER THE PLACE is that this restaurant is incredibly inconsistent. The waitstaff varies, the food varies, even the managers who attempt to make up for the inconsistencies vary. I seem to recall that one of the last times I was in there I complained that the men's room urinal was wasting enough water to fill a bathtub every ten minutes and that they should call a plumber. Can you tell I'm an environmentalist? If you check out my other reviews, you'll see that I wrote a glowing review about another Denny's; a particularly consistent and excellent one. In that much more favorable review, I used THIS Laurel MD Denny's as a fairly typical example of my experiences with most Denny's establishments. I regret to say that by posting this lack-lustre review, I'm steering away from my ordinary habit of either reviewing excellent restaurants or horrible ones. I wish I could issue this restaurant two different scores. It's never quite as bad as a 1 star, and never quite as good as a 5 star. It is sort of a 2-4 star restaurant. About the only aspects of this restaurant which remains remotely consistent is that the parking is always ample, and the waitstaff, regardless of attentiveness or competence, is at least always nice. PS: in case you are wondering why I ever set foot in this place, an excellent question btw, is that (as my other reviews all mention) I run a social club that meets in a different restaurant (and usually in a different town) each week. Although I'd much prefer to meet in the Tastee Diner a short distance from the Denny's, one of the more influential, demanding and independent members of this club insists there's nothing at the Tastee she can eat, so for her sake we will continue to meet at the Denny's until things get so bad here that even she prefers the Tastee. Now that I've explained all that, and have had a moment to think about it, I'm going to keep careful attention to what she orders at the Denny's and after better understanding what she can eat, I'll try to have a talk with the owner of the Tastee and ask if they can whip something up to her liking. read more

I can't top Su K's review and won't even try. Bottom line, good or bad, it's Denny's. A regular American staple. Much like America, she has her bad days as well as her good ones. The thing to remember is that it's just food. No one is forcing you to eat it... but it's usually worth every calorie. I got the ultimate skillet and my friend got the build your own chicken wraps. When I got the skillet it was still sizzling. Awesome. In the immortal words of my dining companion, "It's f'ing good!" The cheese fries app came after our regular food, but we didn't care since everything came so quickly. If I'm ever back in Laurel, I will be coming back. read more
