I went to the Windermere location which is brand new. It was really nice and clean. I've only been to a Denny's once before over a decade ago and didn't find it to be anything special. The only reason I came was because they offer free breakfast on your birthday so I figured why not? The staff was nice and welcoming. Service was okay, I found I had to flag someone down for the bill and the restaurant wasn't that busy. I ordered the french toast meal which came with 3 pieces of french toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 sausages. The sausages were pretty good but the rest of the meal was mediocre and what you would expect from a place like this. Overall I'd rate the meal 6/10. On you birthday you get the choice of a free grand slam breakfast or $14.50 off of your meal. Must be the day of your bday with ID present (dine in only). read more

Amber recently moved to a Edmonton and the couple ot other places we tried to go were pretty busy so we ended up here. Amber was excited to visit a Denny's again. I had the Santa fe skillett, which seems to be my standard. Amber had a bacon and egg breakfast. Food was consistent with a typical Dennys. We ate here on our first day in Canada. We were still on Eastern time and the hotel's (non-included) breakfast didn't start serving until 7:30 a.m. Denny's was open 24 hours, so we made the short drive and arrived around 5:30 a.m. It wasn't overly crowded, but appeared to be at the edge of Edmonton's downtown entertainment district. They had a sign about needing to register your car in their parking lot (probably as parking gets scarce elsewhere at busy times). I'd guess this place gets slammed around the time the bars close on the weekends. Our server was efficient and checked in periodically. THey offered some relatively light breakfast options (portion-wise) which was nice. Usually you have few options but getting too much food. This was just right. We both had a standard 1-egg + toast + protein + hash browns. The coffee was decent as well. Eating here allowed us to get an early start on our 4-hour drive to Jasper, too. We went to the downtown Edmonton Denny's for breakfast and the restaurant was almost empty. It took much longer than usual to receive our order, the chef was constantly coughing and not wearing a face mask and the portions were small. When we went to pay, we had to wait 15 minutes while they rebooted their computer system. In short, the downtown Edmonton Denny's provided poor service and portions, and was unhygienic. read more

So I visited for the first time with a kid and first time since the pandemic began and I was pleasantly surprised how excellently this experience went for our kid! The kids' menu is great: picking an entree and a side (or two!) went rather well as the kid could point to pictures of desired items. The crayons for colouring were brand name Crayola, and the kids' menu included milkshakes so my toddler had a very first milkshake too! The kid even ate pretty much everything ordered which is impressive for a toddler... so this Denny's comes toddler-approved! It even has high chairs and booster seats (though the kid used the high chair). Denny's is one of the only restaurants I know of that still offers a free birthday meal with ID, no email list sign up or loyalty program required, which was a huge reason why we visited at this point in the pandemic, as one of our group had a birthday to celebrate. And they implement it as either a free build your own grand slam or a discount that you can apply to any menu item which is great! I didn't know they did that! As for how it handled the pandemic, they were consistently applying the current restrictions and checking ID. We were happy to be seated far away from others in the restaurant and there were barriers in between booths. I could tell that a number of students were lingering there to study or otherwise and the server who was handling basically the whole restaurant (or at least the whole part that was in use) was doing his best to keep up. It wasn't super busy as we were there on a weekday evening but it wasn't slow either with a trickle of people coming in and out. All the patrons seemed to be abiding by masking rules very well though as were staff. Food service was a bit slow but the food (and milkshakes) really hit the spot. I was exceptionally impressed that the server dissuaded me from ordering an item because people frequently complain that it is too salty and steered me toward ordering something I really enjoyed. It really helped making our experience wonderful! I've visited this location on and off over the years with middling results but this experience definitely encourages me to come back more in the future: it really was a great family dining experience on this occasion and the pandemic is being handled well. Parking is ample (though it is a bit challenging to navigate the parking lot if unfamiliar), and there is great transit accessibility here. read more

I'm not sure if it's the location but I found everyone from the staff to people at this location to be extremely rude. I ordered the coffee which was alright. And then a pancake slam, I found the pancakes extremely dry and had to constantly pour syrup on them. Dislikes: the crazy construction so I had to walk around to get in. The server didn't even bring anything to put on the pancakes and was physically displeased by the fact I requested syrup. Also I was left 1 napkin for two plates.....and also never once offered water. I left with my throat dry and closing up. The person at the till asked me if I liked my meal in a monotone unpleasant voice. I stated no it's was horrible as I never got even water and my throat was closing. She ripped the receipt off and half glared at me. Tips: go for the food, people at this location, customers and staff are unfriendly & don't offer "necessities" for the meal. Extremely disappointed. I was asked to waited half hour while they filled online orders and left my number to be called once a table was available. The restaurant was half empty. I called to complain and was told the servers were catching up orders. They said they were not short staffed. They took my number at 1:08pm. It's now 2:12pm and no call for a table. I've now been served steak and eggs at socretes in St. Albert. It's 2:13 on now. Thankx Denny's for putting your online orders first and now I get to enjoy a better meal else where. Oh Dennys's I love coming to you for Sunday Brunch but you disappoint me this time :( Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday, after making a reservation the table for our group of 10 which was not ready (there were not additional seat or tables available so we had to cozy up), the beverages too very long and they were NEVER refill as our waitress was really busy on here area. We all order and it took 45min for the food to arrive! Not kidding. They did also forgot the order of the birthday girl!!! What?!!! Oh yes they did. Other 15min for wait for her food to have a very overcooked Salmon. Denny's you didn't even offer a 5% discount for the birthday girl on her special day. I just came here the other night to hang out with a friend for a nice, late night meal. Our server Joyce was a sweetheart and very attentive from start to finish. There was hardly any wait time for our meals, and they turned out to be pretty good! I must give credit to whoever whipped up my red skinned cubed hash browns: Denny's makes some of the best hash browns in Edmonton in my opinion! The Oreo milkshake I had as well was a great treat to tie it all off. Oh and PS: the people watching around here late at night can be quite the treat too. You'll see a lot of interesting characters come around this location to say the very least. The claw has no grip and there is no way you can get toys with a claw that weak!*** I thought I would preface this with that tip - it's $1 per game and it is impossible to win anything... when I say impossible, I mean it. The claw is so flimsy and has no grip. The toys are just too heavy for it to lift at all - just an FYI for anyone enticed like we were. Otherwise this is a Denny's! I'm not sure if there is much more to say about it. It's got all the Denny's food that we all know and love. Service when we have come has usually been pretty good! Coffee is good as usual. Bathrooms are VERY hit and miss. Today they weren't too bad, however, a few weeks ago it was like a bomb went off! I couldn't use it and had to get out of there immediately. I wish I knew how huge the portion would be- what was I thinking. The pancakes were fluffy, the raisins were a great addition and so was the orange cream cheese frosting. I kinda wished the raisins were throughout and not only in the center. The scrambled eggs were sort of rubbery and dry, the sausages were good. I ordered breakfast tea thinking it would come in a pot just like the coffee my husband ordered. Instead, I was offered a Lipton teabag, a cup and a half worth of hot water, honey but I wasn't offered any milk or cream. It was a so so experience. The waitress was pleasant! read more

I've only eaten at one other Denny's and I remember it being busy and loud and this experience was about the same. We were seated immediately but the service was slow. The Help Wanted sign by the front is a big warning that you won't get fast service. Most of the people were likely MacEwan students enjoying a weekend brunch so they probably weren't in a rush to go study. The menu has big breakfast meals. I couldn't decide between breakfast fare or a sandwich but since I don't go out for breakfast much, I choose one of the smaller slams. It came with 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, hash browns, and eggs for $7.29. Our waitress didn't come get our drink order promptly so we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Instead of bringing the drinks out first, she brought my friend's soup first. It was another 15 minutes or so before the rest of the food came out and she forgot my friend had her soup as she had another bowl. It would have been better if the food all came out at once but not a big issue. All looked ok with my food. The hashbrowns were the shredded and fried kind instead of potato chucks which I prefer and I felt like I was licking the grease off pan when eating them and the sausages. The eggs were fine; nothing special. When I was ready to have my pancakes, I realized there was no syrup. Our waitress was no where to be found so I asked another and he promptly brought it out. With slow service and not the best food, I will not be returning. It seems to be more about quantity that quality here. There are other breakfast places to try next year; likely the next time I will go out for brunch. read more

This is one of my favourite places to go for a late night bite, or when I'm craving eggs Benedict. Tonight my boyfriend and I went in for a late supper. The restaurant was busy at our time of arrival. However, our server went above and beyond to make sure we were not waiting too long; And that everything was perfect. She was consistent in coming to check on us, and see if we needed assistance. She even offered me a to-go cup for my cold bru coffee; Topping it up, free of charge. She went above and beyond! The place can get pretty packed depending on the time of day, but it is also one of the few restaurants in Edmonton open during the night. Besides breakfast fare like pancakes, waffles, and steak and eggs, there is a variety of burgers (both chicken and beef), as well as dinner entrees. I especially like the chicken fingers, grilled chicken with two juicy breasts, and the fish, which is lightly battered and has a unique taste. All dinners come with a choice of two side dishes, and bread service. Prices are reasonable, and this is a family setting where both young and old alike should feel comfortable. On the whole, this is a pretty average Denny's location. Open all day and night, same menu you come to expect, and the service is usually pretty good. I wanted to post a review after trying their new Beyond Burger. This is Denny's latest addition to their vegetarian options. I was pleasantly surprised by this burger. It is juicy, flavourful and crispy on the outside, giving it a satisfying texture. It is also very filling because it's a pretty big burger. The bun is whole wheat with seeds on top to add to the healthy feel of it. And there is plenty of lettuce and tomato to make it fresh tasting. The addition of some ketchup made the burger even better (I have to admit, I didn't get the sauce that comes standard on the burger because I wanted ketchup instead). I definitely recommend this burger if you are at Denny's and looking for a vegetarian meal, or if you are a fan of the Beyond Meat range of products. read more

My hunny and I wandered over here after attending Animethon at Macewan but unfortunately it was not the best way to end off an otherwise enjoyable day. We were seated promptly but after that we must have waited a solid ten minutes at least for our waiter to come and get our drink orders. In that time we saw two other waitresses working in the same section wiping tables and setting silverware and thought one of them must be the person who is supposed to be serving us and we are getting ignored. It was just weird....I would be really interested to see how the assigned sections work here because I really don't think you need three staff members working within a 10 table area. Anyhow moving onto the food I got the half nacho's for myself and my hunny went with a grand slam breakfast. The eggs on his plate were not how he asked them to be done and the sausage was quite overcooked. My nacho's were a disgusting horror show. Instead of having the pico de gallo and sour cream on the side they toss it all onto the chips making it nothing but a disgusting mess. I am pretty sure they were sitting in the window for awhile as well because when I got them the sour cream was very runny which usually means it has had some time to absorb the heat from the cheese. It didn't really seem like they had put alot of consideration into the fact they were probably going to see an increase in traffic with the Animethon going on across the street. The ladies bathroom was a mess,the silverware at our table was dirty,the food was awful,and staff seemed frustrated and confused as to who was doing what. My friends and I aren't usually bar or pub people, so if we're out late at night and find ourselves hungry, we head to Denny's. Plus, I love pancakes and this is the closest thing to IHOP I can find in Edmonton. It's different every time we come here; sometimes it's dead and sometimes it's busy. Once we came here around 2 am and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. On the busy nights it's hard to get good service, but I guess I can understand that, cause there's not too many wait staff on hand. The waitress cut my friend off one time, when he tried pointing out that another table seated after us got their orders first. Normally I would find that inexcusable, but I found it funny then ... maybe I was too sleepy. I like that I can come here and get a breakfast platter of pancakes or burgers at 2 am for pretty cheap. It's like diner food, but in a cozy family restaurant setting. They've got a good selection of desserts and milkshakes too, if you're craving something sweet. They also have little mini cheeseburgers, that come in a bunch of 6 or so. I was meeting my friends at this location after my classes. I was running late, and my friends were waiting for me to arrive before they order their food. So, I do understand they were frustrated that we were hogging a table. However, there were not a lot of people in the resturant. As soon as I arrived, no one asked what I wanted to drink, nor did they even bother to come to our table. We did accidentally asked another waitress to take our order, and we did apologize for our mistake. My friends and I also made eye contact with our waitress but she just walked away. She took orders from people that came after I arrived. Then as soon as she got close to our table, we asked her as polite as possible if she could take our order. She then replied "I'm busy" and she took a solid 10 mins registering other people's orders . We waited for a good 25 mins after i arrived and that was when we decided to leave the resturant. So we just went to the front to pay for my friend's drinks and left. All in all, we expected at least minimum service, we got none. read more

There's free wifi, but watch out for the parking guys! If you park for longer than 2 hours, you will get a parking ticket. I was sooooo not impressed with Denny's this past Friday. Usually the service and the food is decent but not this time. I don't go to Denny's often but if this is what it's managed to become, I won't be going back. First of all, we had to wait in a long line. That's not unexpected so we waited. Our server didn't come to see us for about 10 minutes after we sat down. We had to get up and refill our own coffees because she after she took our order, she didn't bother to come back until it was time to pay. When our food came, it was awful. We both had meat lovers plates so we had eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and a country fried steak. The hash browns were gross. My eggs were undercooked. The steak was disgusting. It was a big round breaded sausage with alfredo sauce on it. Needless to say, I did not feel well after this visit to Denny's. Even thinking about it now, makes me feel ill. I've never had such bad service anywhere as I did at Denny's. It was horrible and I'm never going back. Save yourselves! Don't go to Denny's! read more

No qualms about my breakfast this morning. Love the ability to build my own breakfast for $10. The server was quick to respond when we had an extra guest show up. My coffee was always full and hot! Keep in mind that after 2am, you should expect some form of line up here. It's always busy, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. The wait for food can take about 20 minutes, and service can be very slow, but the staff seem to realize this and do their best to accommodate the rush of people there. Going during the day things seem different. The food items might be the same, but you realize just how greasy the food is. Been frequenting this location for years now and haven't had anything but good experiences but after my last visit I will not be coming back ever I came with a rather large group of 8 for dinner and were told that the wait for tables would be 30 to 40 minutes unless we were to split up. I pointed out that their patio area (empty except for 2 uncleared tables) would be fit all of us if we moved 2 tables together. The greeter told us it would be 15 minutes to get it ready for us. After we were seated by the greeter it was a 15 minute wait before finally one of the waitresses (east Indian women) came and apologized that she did not know we were her customers and took our drink orders. RED FLAG From ordering drinks (5 pop, 2 water & 1 milkshake) another 15 minutes went by until she came back with them. Immediately after giving us the drinks she left without asking for food orders and disappeared for another 15 minutes. At this time, 6 out of 8 had empty glasses and were waiting for the heat to melt the ice cubes, when she came back to finally take the food orders about 45 minutes had passed and the distinct lack of service became crystal clear as nobody was asked if they wanted a refill the table of empty glasses. In all my previous experiences at this location the waiter/waitress were always on top of things and never had an issue. We stubbornly stayed despite the horrible service as everyone was starving at this point and didn't want to rudely walk out. Big mistake. From the initial order of food to it actually arriving was another 40 minute wait during which the last patio table was prepared and seated with customers who despite arriving an hour after our group had already received their appetizers! Needless to say the food when it arrived sporadically was absolutely depressing. The pancakes were dried out (sat 30 minutes under lamp), fries were cold, hash browns were cold, the peanut butter chocolate sauce on an order was solidifed, there was no maple syrup or butter to accompany the pancakes. If that wasn't enough an entire order was completely forgotten and was not noticed until I pointed it out to the waitress halfway through the meal when she attended the other table. Admitting to forgotten the order completely, I was asked by the waitress to wait another 10 minutes while the kitchen prepares it. I requested to speak with the manager and she assured me he would be promptly out. The food arrived 15 minutes later, order incorrect (white bread instead of rye, shredded hash browns instead of chunk), at this point I really don't care that much as I'm staving and my friends have already finished their meals long ago. While eating the manager brings me the correct hash browns, leaves it in the table and walks straight back into the restaurant without saying a word to me. (great service eh?) I ask for the manager again when the poor excuse of a waitress comes back with our bills and she assures me he will be out soon. I point out her bullshit and affirm that it had be 20 minutes since I first asked for them and they have yet to come speak to me.
