Dennys? Why write a review of Denny's? Everybody knows what they do. Well, maybe not. They do change things once in awhile. Even their slogan. Maybe you remember when it was "A Good Place to Sit and Eat." Did they expect us to eat standing up? Then they changed it to "Now We're Cooking!" Which leads us to ask: what were they doing before? Now they're "America's Diner," which I guess works for them. Anyway, the place is kind of hidden behind a couple of gas stations but the sign is easy to see and they are right off the Lovekin exit in downtown Blythe. We hadn't had much of any vegetables on our trip, so we were looking for more than just burgers or tacos. That's why we stopped in here on the way home. My wife and I both had their Chicken-Fried Steak, which was pretty good and filling enough. Broccoli for the vegetable. We skipped sodas and just had water, both to save money and calories. So we got out the door for $20.02, minus the tip. Good food, good service, reasonable price. What more do you want? read more

Absolutely the worst Denny's I have ever visited. As soon as you walk in, you second guess your decision. It's dark and just doesn't look clean. I was seated right away and given a menu. But took quite awhile for anyone to take my drink order. I only ordered coffee to drink, but that took an unusual amount of time to arrive. I was seated for 15 minutes before anyone took my order. My server was flustered, it seemed, so I didn't complain....gave her my order and waited....and waited.....after I spent 30 minutes in this place she came to me and said someone took her order and threw the ticket away. She was apologetic, but after how she interacted with other customers and staff, it was clear she was in over her head. She never offered to discount my meal....a free cup of coffee....nothing. My husband stop to get breakfast around 11:00am in our way to Cali. I have been at Denny's everywhere that we go and I never had too bad experience with customer service This waitress name Clara, with Glasses she has hear problems, my husband order the slam slugger or something like that from menu and she told him we don't have anything with that name. Then she took my order I order skillet then she told me you said toast of course I did not mention toast at all, I said no. Then minutes later she came back to my table and said how do you want your eggs and I said over medium, and she not you him and I said o don't know it and she told me don't give attitude.. Really I told her how do you ask me for my husband eggs just wait for him because hubby step out. And she argue again and she said Ok well I will wait!!!! Then I stand up try to talk to manager I asked the hostess then she call a guy name Jose. Manager never came.. very bad experience. Just had a very pleasant breakfast here and I have to admit I read the previous reviews and I was unsure if I should change it. The staff were very helpful and from the moment I stepped in I felt welcomed. Lisa P was my server and she was very helpful and pleasant. My drink order was in front of me in under 2 minutes and my food in under 5! As an international traveller who frequently stays at various restaurants, I have to say this was one of best experiences. In conclusion, if you are looking for a clean pleasant dining experience with nice staff and a full belly, then this is your place. read more

I think there is only one Denny's here off of I-10 between AZ and CA. at the Lovekin exit, I believe. I don't know where Ivy stopped (see her review) but this is across the street from a Mexican place. This is an old Denny's and not well taken care of... shows wear and tear - floor is always littered. They are always short of staff and the wait is long. We stopped here Feb, 2010 and forgot that the last time we did so, a couple of years prior we said never again... we'll remember now! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would!! My husband and I are on our way to AZ and decided to stop here for some breakfast. Biggest mistake of our lives!!!!! This is the worst Denny's I have ever been to. I thought Denny's was supposed to be fast service? It took 25 mins for us to get our food! Also, my husband ordered coffee and I noticed there was red lipstick still on the mug. Gross-a-Rama!!!!! And the people (customers & workers) there? Don't get me started about the people there. The bathroom, however, recalled to mind the bathroom from Trainspotting; and whatever the problem was with the bathroom had seeped into the rest of the restaurant, providing a persistent olfactory reminder of the plumbing issue. My family and I just left this restaurant and unfortunately it was a very sad experience. Everything was just fine until two young women came in and started talking. I was almost half a sleep once I heard them coming in it honestly put a smile on my face, even though they were just talking to each other it was nice to hear just a joyful couple of ladies having girl talk at this dead quiet Denny's. There was a table of construction workers and another one at the other side of the restaurant with another couple. Suddenly the manager comes out and tells them to keep their voice down. He told them they were "too loud" and to "speak normal" These women were African American and it even bothered me. She then asked him for an explanation and to tell her who complained because that was his excuse "customers complained" The table of like 10 guys were minding their own business and so was my family and I. There was no signs of anyone complaining whatsoever. This manager by the name of Albert/Robert was a total jerk. I had to even get up and give her a hug because this woman was in tears! IN TEARS! There was no reason for a woman to be treated that way specially when she's having a good time with her girlfriend. This was ridiculously rude and racist/discriminatory, you don't tell anyone to speak normal! To top it off this man had the nerve to call the cops! Luckily I had a chance to talk to them and they completely understood these lovely ladies. They were advices to call corporate And I will be calling as well. This was just wrong. I have been coming to Denny's on grave yard shift for three months now every evening. The Restaurant is clean well designed .. The food is fresh and good.. The service is great , the two waitress's Kathryn and Briana have good hospitality with respectful service truly professional in what they do in how they communicate and serve the customers. By far the worst Dennys I have ever walked into: our first waitress, Olivia, was forced to come to us, she took our drinks, and then came back 10mn later to tell my son that the shake machine is being cleaned, at 9 pm on a Friday night. Then another 5mn to bring our sodas and she didn't have straws, so another 5mn for her to find straws: 20mn for drinks in a place that was 30% busy. Then, we finally ordered. I asked for soup and, she told that they don't serve soup after 10pm, while it was only 9:43 Another 40mn, a different waitress, Melissa, brought our completely messed up, and most importantly COLD food. She had the worst attitude ever when I told her that I ordered my nachos meatless, and I made sure that the first waitress wrote NO MEAT on the paper. She asked if I want it replaced and I said No, I won't wait another 30mn for nachos. My wife ordered a trio sampler: cheese quesadilla, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers. They were cold, likely out of a fridge. I asked why the food is cold and she totally ignored me and walked away. Now, already frustrated, I asked for the check and I went to pay. I stood at the cash register for a solid 10mn and some people who walked in were waiting to be seated while 2 waitresses ( Olivia and another one) were sitting giggling and preparing utensils looking at what's happening indifferent. When I asked sarcastically if the food was free, then she called the manager from the kitchen, Daniel. L, who told her : " Don't you see me busy.., go help them" and they kept exchanging words with all of us listening. I had to tell them, that they can finish their fight after work. I need to go. People in line were laughing at the hole scene. Finally, Olivia came to help and I asked her to call the manager. He verbally told me: What's the difference between me or her!?". I paid and then, I told him my concerns and that I have been over charged and how it's unprofessional to treat people that way. He simply told me in a sarcastic way: "go complain on yelp". He refused to give me the store business card, he walked away telling a waitress to sit the people waiting. Yes, at that moment, I told him that he's an idiot, and walked out. Two couples walked out behind me, saying that Taco Bell would be a better place for a quick bite. Never again! read more

As I walked in from the parking lot, I could smell the nasty dumpster. At the door , I was greeted by a Grade A certification from the local health department prominently displayed in the vestibule across from the claw game. I've always thought of Blythe as a dirty little town, so the Grade A certification put my mind at ease. I first visited the bathroom. This must not be part of the health department inspection. The floor was sticky, there was vandalism everywhere, and it smelled bad. Sent even wash my hands after using the bathroom. I didn't want to touch anything. I wanted to leave, but my family was hungry, so we ordered. I have to say that the food was excellent, and not just by Denny's standards. My wife got the sirloin steak. I don't think Texas Roadhouse is the best steakhouse, but Denny's sirloin is just as good, and cooked to perfection especially at $11.99 with two sides. My prime rib cob salad was great and the kids loved their meals. Absolutely no complaints about the food. With a regular cleaning, this Denny's would be Blythe CA 5 star diner. read more

This comment is overdue, in that it took place back in August. The food was actually descent but there was a server who was ridiculously rude. She was a blonde white girl that gave my family and I a dirty look when we walked in. Her first acknowledgement of us was, "pets aren't allowed here!". I was ready to leave since I had my dwarf rabbit and was not going to leave him in over 100 degree weather outside but another server said it was okay to leave him by the entrance. After that she kept staring over at us and clearly talking about us to whomever would listen. She kept pointing and being quite obvious about it. Needless to say, we will never be returning to this place ever again. The employees should be better trained in customer service along with manners. read more

To start, I have worked in the restaurant industry, so I'm not just one of those customers that complains about every little thing and has a lot of time on their hands to leave bad reviews. We were traveling and had just driven 3 hours and looking for a quick but restful place to eat before continuing 3 more hours. We walked in, a party of 5 and a high chair. The hostess walked us to a booth that seats 4 people (to be fair it could easily fit 5 but that would require at least 3 of the guests to be small children). We asked to sit at a larger booth that was right next to the booth she took us to. She looked at us dumbfounded and said, "but that booth seats 8." Ok, I get it, you try to save those booths for the larger parties that come in. But there were literally 3 large booths that size, all empty by the way, and I highly doubt in Blythe that they would get 3 parties of 8 at the same time. After asking her again if it was ok if we sit there, she said, "well we don't like to sit people in different sections so that the waitresses aren't spread out all over the place." Ok, again I understand this, you have certain booths grouped together that are considered sections and each waitress is assigned a section. I got irritated all the time when customers would ask me to go to a different table when I seated them, but that's when they asked to sit at a table on the complete opposite side of the restaurant. The booth we were asking to sit at was literally the next booth over to the one she took us to. It would have been perfectly fine for us to sit there, especially since there was only one waitress serving that whole side of the restaurant. At that point we just wanted to get settled since my baby was getting fussy. We crammed into the booth and had to pull up an extra chair to make our party fit. As we were all getting settled, mind you this takes awhile when you have a baby and are trying to get food out for her and our cover for the high chair, the hostess was just standing there staring at us. I'm assuming she was waiting to get our drink order since I later saw her do when she sat other guests. But, if you see that a party is taking awhile to get settled, don't awkwardly stand there and make them feel rushed and uncomfortable. Just walk away and when you see they are settled, walk back over, or if you can't because you have to seat new guests walking in, then just tell your server. Finally, she walked away...cue our server. She comes over and asks, "would you like to sit at a bigger booth?" Really? After we are all settled and you've watched us sit down and cram in (yes I saw you standing over in the corner waiting for us to get settled before walking over). We told her we were told by the hostess we couldn't sit at that booth. She said ok and proceeded to take our drink order. She sounded irritated and unhappy to be there. After she brought over the drinks, we accidentally spilled a water all over the table. She just stood there and looked at it until we said, um you wanna get us some napkins or towels? She walked away and grabbed a stack of napkins, handed it to us and proceeded to take our food order as we cleaned up the mess, then walked away. We had the soaking wet pile of napkins sitting in the middle of our table and we still needed a bit more to fully wipe everything up. She never came back to our table to offer more napkins, or a towel, or to help get rid of the mess. After waiting for her to come back for a good 5 minutes, while watching her walk around to her other tables, clearly avoiding us, we got her attention and called her over for more napkins and to take away the wet pile. Sure it wasn't her fault that we spilled a drink, but at least do your job and help us clean up the mess. It's not like we had a rag or extra towels on us to clean up the mess ourselves. Accidents happen, and I know when I came across this while working, I would quickly help out my guests by cleaning it up myself and then having the busboy come over and wipe the table clean (which btw I did not see a busboy anywhere in the restaurant). It's just common courtesy and your job to help out your customers, especially if you want a good tip. She didn't seem to care about that at all. By the way, she never replaced the water that was spilled. Food was ok, not very appetizing. But, I was up for a good 3 hours in the middle of the night dealing with a horribly upset stomach. I didn't eat anything else but the food from here, so something is definitely wrong with their food. The rest of our experience was bland and unfriendly. I understand sometimes people have bad days or are irritated about working, but this customer service was just ridiculous. Incompetence and showing an irritable attitude is my biggest pet peeve while at a restaurant. We experienced that and more while there for the short hour we had to rest. Suffice to say, if we ever make our way through Blythe again, we most certainly will not be stopping at Denny's. read more

This Denny's is pure liquid crap. I've eaten here several times in the couple of months that I have been in Blythe and have been consistently disappointed with the food and the service. Corporate Denny's is obviously not inspecting this location very closely/often as I think they'd also be disgusted with the poor representation. I like the chain; this is a piss-poor representation of it. I tried several of the standards and was disappointed every time. In fact, that's what this Denny's location is most consistent at: being disappointing. The eggs I ordered came out slimy and gross. The patty melt came with soggy wet rye bread (more than one time). The waitresses are too preoccupied with God-knows-what to actually serve customers. One was obsessed with her phone while I was waiting for service... kinda pissed me off. You'd be well advised to avoid this Denny's location and try somewhere like Albertacos instead (it's open pretty late but not 24 hours). Even if you're really hungry you should pass on this particular Denny's and just rough it out... or get a snack at one of the 24 hour convenience stores. Whatever garbage you find there would likely be far more satisfying than the swill that this Denny's serves. They should fire the cooks and waitresses and start over. read more

I never thought I would leave a 5 star review for a Denny's... yet here I am. The service was great! We came on a busy Saturday morning and got seated at the "bar" right away. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. My husband and I both ordered a skillet and they came out fast, hot and delicious. One of the best Denny's I've been to in many years the brussels sprouts with the chicken was just perfect great Carmel on the brussels sprouts, tender juicy chicken the french fries were also very delicious which water and the Philly steak sandwich was also very very good I had a recommend this place it could be deceiving as you walk in and not sure what you're going to walk into but I guarantee that you will absolutely love the food it's delicious. read more

Went to Dennys on a 4th of July weekend, the place was packed. People were waiting for tables. I got lucky and was able to sit at the counter, my coffee was in front of me in minutes. Lupe was my server and was very efficient and at the same time friendly. Made me feel welcomed. She was helped by Kenzie and the two of them provided excellent and welcoming service. Again, considering it was July 4th weekend my experience was beyond perfect. And I will be returning there soon. read more

At first our service was good until a family of 6 sat next to us. Not only was the manager kissing up to them and giving them unlimited attention but our server had to also. It felt like they were repeat customers who came back for a free meal for some reason and they were trying to make up for a bad experience. Once they sat then our server wasn't able to attend her other tables and we needed additional items... part of our food got cold before we could eat it. So we just paid and left. The manager never walked around that I seen but he was all over trying to make these people's experience great.. well a manager should always be aware of their surrounding and not just one table. read more

During the pandemic this place was empty and had only one other customer looking through the menu so basically they had nothing but time on their hand yet still managed to mess up my order. I asked the server (sadly, I forgot to note her name) if there was chicken broth in the broccoli cheddar soup.
