Takes and HOUR to seat you. Very understaffed. Rude waiters. Food comes wrong and cold. Can't find a compliment to give them .....

Terrible service. People were walking out. It was THAT bad. Every person working seemed to not know what they were doing. Understaffed, and undertrained staff. Food was wrong or over cooked. They need to get their act together. It took us almost 2 hrs to order, eat, and pay. It took 40 mins just to get our food out. One cook and 1 1/2 wait staff on a Friday night? Ummm, general manager needs to staff and train better. No refills on drinks - coffee and tea - none. The manager didn't even know how to find our ticket - tried to ring us up for the wrong table. Terrible service, two other tables that came afterwards got their food before us. My order was totally screwed up, asked for blueberries pancakes and sausage links, repealed my order three times. I got plain pancakes and bacon. My guest already finished her breakfast while I waited for my blueberry pancakes, I got blueberries pancakes covered with whipped cream, strawberry and bananas., not what I wanted removed strawberries, bananas and whipped cream still no sausage! read more

Absolutely the worst food I have ever had at a Denny's. Seriously. How do you mess up pancakes? Not judging the service.....that isn't why you go Denny's. Stay away. To ownership: Let me tell you about our meals.... Grand Slam, w/premium items: 1 tiny piece of bacon, undercooked. Venture to say microwaved. 1 minuscule sausage link. Over cooked ham steak the size of a piece of pepperoni. 4 eggs....they were ok. No toast, etc. Wife's pancake breakfast: pancakes as dry as a granola bar, and obviously beaten to death. Difficulty cutting them with a knife..... Tablespoon of scrambled eggs that reminded me of what I ate during the Gulf War from an MRE. No butter, had to go up and get our own syrup. 23 years on the road as a trucking contractor, and hands down the worst meal I've ever paid for. I have been told that I can be extremely harsh on restaurants and in light of that tonight I decided to give Dennys in Bastrop another shot. While i was skeptical at first of any changes i will say that i was a bit surprised. We were seated immediately by what appeared to be the manager, but it was late and there were plenty of seats. Our drink orders were taken promptly and the waitress (sorry I didn't catch her name) was extremely pleasant and attentive. In the past I have had a terrible time in waiting for simple orders to be prepared but that was not a problem tonight. Apparently there has been a shift in managerial and waitstaff as we were taken care appropriately. It was good to see the manager out on the floor working the not only on the floor but also in front and behind the counter. The current change in managerial staff and the addition of waitstaff is a definite step in the right direction. Perhaps my opinion would be different if I had come earlier at a busier time but for now I can say that it is improving. read more

Connie B (getting our servers name from receipt) totally saved this visit from being a 1 star! We went in I had a skillet with chicken fried steak and eggs, food tasted like if it was microwaved and the skillet itself was cold! Clear signs that they just threw my meal together! My wife ordered the salted caramel pancakes, they were undercooked and tasted like a mushy mess. Kids had a simple stack of pancakes, they didn't seem to mind them. Overall the food was not good. Clearly management is doing something wrong, if they can't get these issues fixed! I go here minimum once a week because its 24 hours and I like pancakes. Food is consistently tasty. Staff very nice and they remember me. The one time I had an issue with a waitress, I told the manager and she immediately handled it. It's Dennys, dont come here expecting a Michelin meal. I have been here twice and both times my food was horrible! Even our waitress told us she knows our food tasted bad. They got our order wrong and our appetizer came after the meal. The staff was unfriendly and look like they hate their jobs. The manager look like he just rolled out bed and was hung over. Have been going to Denny's Bastrop from first day they opened - we were excited about having a restaurant opened all night in Bastrop. Have been there prob ten times / it has been a consistent disappointment / service is a joke. We went tonight with a whole three tables full, cooks were coming out trying to assist servers who had no clue. It's sad that the owner of Denny's doesn't give a crap about his business. We left after sitting and waiting for any service - went to a burger King instead next door. Evidently the owner of Denny's has no care of concern for his restaurant, what a waste. He owns other entity's that remove his concern for Denny's. Why do you even continue to own it if you could care less about it. Even the employees mentioned that writing the owner wouldn't make a difference / cause he doesn't care. read more

Second visit. .. I was thinking about eating lunch here. First of all the place was very dirty. Floor was filthy tables not wiped down. Etc. .. so after being ignored by the staff finally got asked if I wanted a booth or table. Oh but wait... the are all dirty. So I have to wait for them to clean one. Our family arrived excited as we anxiously awaited the opening of this Denny's location. Unfortunately it was the most unpleasant restaurant experience we ever had and it was very slow inside as we arrived at 4:45. Here is our story. On our arrival, the host was hesitant to provide us with an open booth (as many were available) upon our request. The host proceeded, reluctantly to seat us into a booth. Once in the booth we discovered our silverware was not cleaned and still had food on it. We were not greeted by our server until 8 minutes after being seated. Our server arrived very flustered and provided a very poor greeting. She had only 3 tables total including us throughout the visit. We proceeded anyway to allow the server to take our order and give it the chance. After waiting about 20 minutes a plate arrived that was not what I had ordered and before everyone else's food. The server had ran off before I could alert her of this. After she had returned minutes later I informed her of the mistake and watched the plate go back to the expo line and sit under a heat lamp. A few minutes later that plate went to another table after about 10 minutes from being delivered to my table (not safe and no longer fresh, big no-no). After waiting nearly 30 minutes from placing our order I decided it was time to alert management of the current situation and issues so that they can benefit from the training opportunities that were much needed. The GM (General Manager) arrived at the wrong table near us in belief they had been the group that called for her (poor communication). Upon waving her down, I politely opened up with letting her know I once managed a Rainforest Cafe (very busy Landry's establishment) and wanted to provide her with valuable feedback on the visit. I quickly realized that all of these issues were a direct reflection of management as her excuses outweighed her desire for excellence in customer service and efficiency. I decided to finish the conversation as excuses were more important than results and just as I was the food had arrived exactly 32 minutes after ordering. Everything looked great except I had sour cream on my plate when I previously requested without and was missing jalapeños. The GM grabbed the plate and said they would be fixed. I waited 10 minutes, no plate in sight, GM was sitting down chatting, server was not alerted to this, no one knew anything, poor communication once more. I decided to wave down another server and inform the GM to cancel the plate as I was unable to eat dinner with my family as they were finished (only needed to remove a dollop of sour cream). The plate was removed from the bill but nothing else was removed or discounted from this terrible experience. The GM was at the checkout counter as we went to pay and said nothing to us but looked away in shame. Overall, we were saddened as we were very excited for this restaurant. I was understanding that it was new but at the same time there should have been pre-opening training and a management team that should value themselves on a quality experience. This establishment has strong potential here but is lacking motivation for success. If these negative behaviors and habits continue Maxine's will remain unscathed by their opening. I know my family will not return here for many months and upon our next arrival, if we detect any of this issues we encountered on this visit will promptly leave. Poor customer service and a lack of commitment from management should not be tolerated nor accepted by any customer. If you want things better the first step is to advise management and accept nothing less than what should be a pleasant experience. Currently this Denny's has lost my business and I will advise friends and family to steer clear until a change is made where customers are a priority. Dickey's Pit BBQ made this mistake and is no longer here with us in Bastrop. Hopefully this review inspires the establishment to take customer service and efficiency more seriously and can achieve results and not excuses. read more

Very DISAPPOINTED! Walked in and of course there was no one to greet us. There was 5 other groups of people who had not been acknowledged as well before us. When someone finally came she stated"I don't know how do handle this... let me see if I can find something" then another lady in which was extremely rude came up and started to fight with a gentleman who had been waiting and said "I'm sorry our kitchen is backed up and slow. You will have to wait" Once we left there were two employees hanging out at the dumpster smoking a cigarette... really?! Is this the kind of service you have to offer Denny's? read more

I had not been to a Denny's in over 3 years. When I heard we were getting one in Bastrop I was excited. Finally I had the chance to take my mom to breakfast today. We were seated upon arrival. We sat there for 20 minutes and not one person came to get our order or ask us if we wanted a beverage. 2 couples came in after us got drinks and they had their food order taken. A long and disappointing wait for our new Denny's to open. My husband and I went today for lunch. We were told it would be a 15 min. wait for a table, no problem. When I asked why no one was being seated at open tables a rude waitress stepped in and told us they had just been slammed and the kitchen needed to catch up. Single customers were turned away from the mostly empty counter. When I spoke to a manager he was going to seat us before two other parties that had been waiting ahead of us. Three customers left and went to the new BK instead. My husband's omelet had cheese on one side only and my burger patty was so flattened that it was twice the size of the bun and paper thin. Half the tables were empty, yet it took over 10 minutes to get seated. After I was seated, it took nearly 20 minutes before someone took my order. The only creamer available for my coffee was hazelnut or vanilla. They were out of half and half. The waitress hardly spoke English which caused me to asked her to repeat multiple times. Been in twice, both times did not get the order correct. Today the coffee was bad, not sure if it is just the brand or it had sit for a couple hours. I feel lucky to have had a good experience, so I'll share. Went on a Tuesday for lunch with my son about 12pm. Restaurant was busy, but we only had to wait about 5 min. Waiter was nice, took our order, my son got a milkshake which he promptly made. We both ordered breakfast meals and they were served hot and fresh in 10 min. Food was good, checkout lady was friendly. Exactly what I'd expect from a Denny's. read more

Showed up an hour ago, took 10-15 minutes to get our drinks. My food was cold, daughters burger was burnt to a crisp, and my wife's skillet wasn't hot... one of the employees was passed out on a table. Only one girl doing everyone's job her name was anglina and she was maybe 17 years old and she did a great job for all the work she had to do. I would discourage you from eating here read more

The food is DENNY"S the service is a bit slow but has improved as the staff is working better together. please know this shares a building with BURGER KING. That means shared restrooms. Keep that in mind. Went there one evening after opening and the cooks were taking a break or so I thought. I looked around and it was the workers were all eating. no one was working. one cook in the back. placed our order it was slow night, it took a bit mean while the staffers eating got up and got what they wanted. felt odd. next visit tea was off. drink unsweet tea. it tasted of corn cobbs, so that's blinky tea. gal told me it was fresh. I told her- her container needed washing. I told her to bring me a coke instead. they tried to push the tea after I was almost through with dinner. I politely declined the offer. The service has improved the cooks and staff that were there before look to be GONE. so this place is always changing. I never eat there on a Friday evening, or weekend morning. super slow. will give time to work out the bugs. read more

Awful service and excessive waits over an hour for food. Came in and it took 15 minutes for drinks, another 10 minutes to oder, and an hour for food to come. Worst Denny's ever. Don't come here!!! Downloaded Yelp and made an account just to give this a 1 star review, (I wish i could give it no stars) don't waste your time or money!!! We waited at the door, eventually ended up letting the older gentlemen go before us. Thing was, barely anybody was there. Waiter brought us to a dirty and sticky table, we had to wait for her to get a towel to clean it up. Mens Bathroom smelled like throw up, I ate my meal with dirty hands as I didn't trust the sink. Food wasn't really hot, I felt a little sick after eating it too. Soup was microwave quality. Plus we waited one and half hours, and the chicken wings were so little. We left hungry and unsatisfied, so we went right out the door to their neighbor, Burger King, who has it together. read more

My husband and I went in to Dennys tonight, Saturday, at about 4:45pm. (We wanted to beat the dinner crowd) Upon entering, a server greeted us in the front, saying to wait. She then walked in back and argued w/ the other server re: who had to take us. Also in the back of the restaurant was what looked like a manager, and a cook? The original server came toward us in front again, then walked over to another table to clean it. Umm, my fall back job is as a server. Where did "work your tables" go? Customer service? We stood there in disbelief. Only 2 other tables had people at them. I know the Covid issue, but the restaurant was empty and appeared very clean. As a rule, I generally love Denny's. It's sad to see ours falls short. read more

They were not busy when we (party of two) walked in. They pointed in the direction of our table "over there...see the menus, that table". Was wondering how this experience would turn out as we showed ourselves to the table. The drink order, food order went as expected and the food tasted good. After the plates were empty, it seemed they had forgotten us. Nobody around to give us the bill. After standing at the register for several minutes in the nearly empty restaurant, the very staff person who just helped us tried to seat us as new customers. I expected friendlier service from a new restaurant. They basically ignored me when I walked in, including what appeared to be two managers. The new bacon cheese tater tots looked appealing, but they were squishy and disgusting. The sweet tea I ordered was awful, and the server forgot to bring the coke I asked for. Also got no syrup for the pancakes, but the pancakes were pretty good. Disappointing for a major food chain. Pretty sure I just got food poisoning after eating here tonight. This is my 3rd or 4th time eating here since moving to Bastrop and the service has always been great. I come in and do homework using the WiFi and stay for a while which is great. But tonight as soon as I was leaving I knew something wasn't right. Waitress/Server decided to ask if my husband needed more coffee about 30 minutes after his cup was empty but had no problem chatting with the 2 ladies right next to him rather than paying attention to any of her other customers. I guess, being a bit cynical here, since we did not speak her native tongue we were not worth her effort or time. I was appalled at the menu prices, even though kind of expected some of them, and the food on my order was NOT WORTH $9.00! To top off insult with injury that one meal consumed in maybe 15 minutes, I eat slowly, cost me 8 hours of misery thanks to food poisoning. Not sure whether the eggs, the ham or the butter/oil used were contaminated but it does not matter will not go back and strongly suggest others like myself with sensitive stomachs refrain from dining at Denny's Bastrop Texas as well. Ordered a to-go online got there a little after it was suppose to be done stood there waiting to be helped for 5 minutes a table got up to checkout finally someone walks over helps. Helps the table before me. Finally helps me and my food which has been sitting on the counter since before I got here was cold and gross my milkshake hadn't been started and the waitress didn't even check the ticket handed me the bag Nd walked off and I was missing food Nd drinks and had to stand there and wait for more help! I've eaten at Dennys in probably 30 states Almost always decent food decent price and more often than not a pretty good wait staff. Not quite the story in Bastrop super slow and inefficient and just plain inferior food by Denny's standards. It bothers me to take them of my list so close to home. I would never believe you if you said you found a Denny's with bad coffee. My big problem... I went there 3 different times to learn this lesson. read more

Worst service. Waited 15 minutes and no one ever even made eye contact with us. There were 5 tables in the entire restaurant and 3 servers. This was our second time coming here and the first time was the exact thing. They do not want to help anyone and the management staff is useless. They walk by your table and act like you are not even there. One of the servers put the tray straight on the table to hand out food. Do not come here! This place is a joke! read more
