Receipt with the non-cash surcharge not reversed after I paid cash.

I had high hopes for Anita's, but they were dashed pretty quickly. The hostess & server were great. We had a nice table, waters & chips all around & ordered within about 5 minutes of being seated. Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. 35 min after ordering, our food finally arrived. It wasn't overly crowded, and we all had easy things. Tacos, taco salad & a lite enchilada plate. One person's food was barely warm (not good with Queso), and my pastor meat had a big glob of fat in it. When it was time to pay & leave, I paid cash for my order, then noticed there was a "Non-cash transaction fee" added. It was not removed with my cash payment. This just isn't right.

Puffy taco. Meat was delicious. Home made tortillas.

Drove from austin to meet family from college station. Yelp didn't give them any updates. This place is really good. Great margaritas. And our waitress Margarita was awesome as well. Fajitas were tender. Soft tacos were delicious. Could have been a little cooler in the restaurant but had a great experience otherwise. We will be back

The Migas were absolutely on point. Sooooo delicious!! The homemade tortillas were to die for!! Huge portions and very reasonable pricing. Absolutely recommend Anita's authentic Mexican!!

One puffy taco, one cheese enchilada, rice and beans

I hadn't been here in several years but I was super impressed with our experience. The food was outstanding. The puffy tacos will be the thing that brings me back- so good! The queso was also great, just a bit pricey for a not very big bowl. I loved the food and our service was good. Right on Main Street, parking can be tricky to come by but if you snag a spot, be sure to give Anita's a try!

Anita's plate, with Chicken Enchilada Verdes. Homemade crispy taco. Delicious

The service and food at Anita's is great. I've been going there for years and it has always been the best downtown Mexican Restaurant.

That's fine because it allowed us a bit of time to check out downtown Bastrop. Once seated, service was American cafe classic. Very friendly and full of memorabilia on the walls and decore. The evening cleaning crew left us an upside down dead . . . Yup, you guessed it. We told the server, they might want to clean it up before seating the next guest at that table. Rule of restaurant opening is to sweep before the doors are opened. We will probably be back because it's still a great place for breakfast. CritDicks

We left with some leftovers, of course! The sandwiches were on Texas toast and were super good, for a very reasonable price! My favorite of the sides were the potatoes, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was so tempted by baked goods but it felt like we had enough food already. If I'm back in bastrop I'll have to try some, along with the brunch items. The folks working there were all super friendly and attentive. The inside was nicely renovated but still homey/quaint. We ate outside in the back with our dogs, which was also nice. Plenty of shade, too. You won't regret stopping here if you're in Bastrop!

So overall a success for our family :) The potatoes/tots were included with our meals and they were unique but definitely very salty. The friends we ate with had grits and biscuits and gravy and commented theirs were also pretty salty, but still good! Service was simple - you line up and order and then find seating until your beeper rings. We enjoyed the outdoor seating out back but there's also a decent amount of seating in the interior.

They have gluten free options as well as vegan options and options for those who can have gluten. I went there for three out of the six days that I was on vacation in that area. I had originally wanted a chocolate chip cookie, but they didn't do just regular gluten free ones. However they did have gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I'm not a big fan of peanut butter, but I thought I would try it since I was really craving a cookie. I had just the one, and it was so so so good! It didn't taste overly of peanut butter which was a win for me! It had just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was crispy around the edges and chewy towards the middle. I went back that same day and got two more of those cookies. The other days I went I got the same thing. One day, I did try their gluten free apple butter bar which was just as amazing! Service was fantastic! Each day I went, there was someone I hadn't seen before working. Each of them were super nice and friendly. The bakery itself had a very calm ambiance about it. It had a lot of space inside if you wanted to eat your meal or dessert inside or you could get it to go. I also love how Tough Cookie Bakery supports the LGBTQ+ community. There was a pride flag painted outside of the bakery, and that just made me love the place that much more! I would definitely recommend Tough Cookie Bakery in Bastrop. I can't wait to go back once we're back in the area at the end of this month.

The only letdown was finding out that the ice cream isn't homemade or unique to the shop--it's just Blue Bell. Now, as a lifelong Blue Bell fan, I'll never turn it down, but with a place that has so much originality and character, we were hoping for a menu that reflected that same spirit. Still, it's a cute spot and worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.
