This is the worst Denny's I've ever been to. I was so happy that we were getting one in our town. The experience gets more terrible every time. Day 2 coming to Denny's on a Tuesday night . Sat down and the severs instead stand behind the counter on their phones. I use to be a sever and that's sad. This has to be the WORST restaurant I have EVER ate at. 6 am with one other person in the restaurant it took 30 minutes to get my omelette and it was cold when I got it. We ate at Denny's this afternoon at 6 pm. We parked with ease. We were immediately seated and given menus. Within 5 minutes our order was taken and delivered to out table within 10 minutes. We each ordered the Super Slam. It was wonderful! We asked for extra butter and immediately received it. Our experience was totally different than our first one. This is the worst excuse I have seen for a restaurant. The wait staff is borderline rude whenever you bring to their attention a mistake THEY made!! I have been twice and both times I was disappointed. I ordered a breakfast meal with hash browns and while waiting for it for about 15 mins the waitress comes and says "sorry but we are out of hash browns". WHAT???? How does a place like this run out of hash browns!!! I'd say you're almost better off going hungry than going here. read more

Worse experience at a Denny's that I have ever had. Drove to Bastrop from Bertram to take my mom out to eat for Mother's Day she was all excited about trying the new Denny's. Well we got that out of our system won't go back nothing but excuses from the manager of why our food did not arrive for an hour and a half. And then wanted to argue about how long we had been there. Food was under the heat lamp for so long it was dried out and nasty, chicken fried steak that look like a hockey puck frozen warmed up. I wanted mashed potatoes but was told that they were processed instant so didn't even want to go there. We had a great first experience! Our server Madison was very sweet and attentive! The food was good and the place was really clean. The only complaint I really have is that the woman's bathroom needed some attention. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our second visit in a year. The first visit was a disaster, but at that time, the restaurant had been open only about a week, so we thought we would try again. Upon arriving, the hostess pointed to a table and said to sit somewhere around there. Fine. Our waitress came and promptly took and delivered our drink order and took our food order. She brought the food and left. I mean disappeared. We needed drink refills, we got ketchup from another table, finished eating and waited for the bill. There was trouble all around us. One customer was trying to get a waffle that was not cooked "rock hard". They brought him 3 overcooked (nearly burnt) waffles before he walked out. The next table already had their food when we walked in, except one of them was waiting for pancakes and hash browns to complete his order. He asked different staff 3 times about his order. The others in his party ate while he waited. Finally, they had to summon the manager, explain, and the manager gave the whole table their orders for free. The man left hungry. At another table, 4 people had been seated about the same time we were seated. They were still waiting to be approached by the staff as we were leaving. No drinks, nothing. We had to go to the cashier to pay our bill. Like I said earlier, our waitress had disappeared. Very poor experience overall. We won't be going back, nor can we recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's really a shame, because a good Denny's would have provided several decent menu options for the Bastrop area. read more

First and last time to eat here. Service was so bad. Was seated at a dirty table even though there were clean ones available. Hostess found a rag and wiped table. Then failed to get us silverware and napkins. We ended up getting our own from another table. Server finally came to table with menus and took our drink order. Coffee was cold and server never came back to offer a refill. We had questions regarding menu items and was given incorrect information by the server. The chicken cesar salad on the menu clearly states that the salad comes WITH chicken, but we were charged $3 extra for the addition of a hand full of chicken. The lettuce seemed like it had been frozen and was soggy. The dressing bowl was placed right in the middle of the plate on top of the grated cheese...WHO DOES THAT? It was a nauseating. Spouse's breakfast meal was so-so. Ladies restroom was a mess. Sanitary container was broken off the wall and was on the floor. We were so dissapointed that we were not going to leave a tip, but when you pay a minimun tip is added to your amount due, I've never experienced this. We expressed our dissappointment to the cashier. She didn't really seem to care. Overall staff was very inexperienced and not friendly, service was terrible, quality of food was bad. I was just at Dennys in Bastrop TX, at around 1 am, my daughter and I were seated and I went to the bathroom to wash my hands first while my daughter watched my purse. I went in the bathroom and saw no one in there, as I was washing my hands someone came from one if the stalls and I saw it was an employee from the mirror, she was on her phone texting and just walked out the bathroom WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS! I said out loud you've got to be kidding me. Then a young lady came out of other stall and asked me what happened and I said an employee just walked out and didn't wash her hands, and that it was disgusting. So I walked out to go to my table and the employee was standing right outside the door of the bathroom hall way area in front of the food ordering station. I walked up besides her and asked, did you just come out of the bathroom, she said yes, I then told her you didn't wash your hands, and that she better not touch or serve my food. She walked away and with her nose up in the air saying oh my god, she can't deal, over and over, walked behind the counter bar area and stood next to a women dressed in regular clothes and said to her that someone just told her she didn't wash her hands and she wasn't going to deal with her. I then said outloud, oh my god, you didn't wash your hands, that's disgusting. The women in the regular clothes said something to her and just walked away from her and went back into the kitchen area, the employee that didn't wash her hands walked behind a wall in the same area still acting the same. There was only one other couple in the whole Dennys at this time, it was empty. My daughter and I walked up to the check out area to ask the hostess if I can speak to the manager, so she went to get her. Here comes the women in the regular clothes, Stephanie is her name, she already had bad vibe about her, she didn't even ask what the problem was, she told me how rude I was for calling out and embarrassing her employee in front of the whole restaurant, that she is not going to yell and do what I did to her in front of everyone. First of all I didn't yell at her I walked up beside her and told her that she didn't wash her hands, I spoke outloud when she walked up next to you after saying oh my god I can't deal over and over again even to you, so yes that is when I spoke outloud that she didn't wash her hands. I asked Stephanie, the manger why didn't she come and ask me what happened or address my at my table after the employee told her, instead of quickly walking away into the kitchen area, she said that she had to deal with something in the kitchen. You couldn't of just looked at me and said i will be with you in just a minute or something to that effect? I didn't know what was going on, but we heard her telling you, then she said yes and I made her walk to the sink we have over there and for her to wash her hands. You just said you didn't know what happened, she kept changing her story. She even said well she was checking out the bathroom, my employees have to do that you know she was doing her job. I told her well I didn't see anyone when I walked in but she still should of washed her hands, plus at 1 am with an empty resteraunt the bathroom trash was full, paper towels on the floor, sink area had water every where and on the floor, plus the whole time I was there a janitor was mopping the floor by the bar counter, did she say it was dirty? She then said that our employee sometimes use the sink over here to was their hands. So from the bathroom to that sink over there if they touch or handle something they are contaminating things, your employee didn't walk straight to that sink after leaving the bathroom she was standing over there until I said something to her. She kept saying how i was rude and embarrassing to the employee and how I was going on and on, yes I did call her out after she kept saying omg I can't deal over and told you but you walked off instead of coming to me. She was starting to get irate with me and I told her why are you making it seem like I am wrong, you just keep going on and on, yes I am because you keep changing your story, my daughter then started to write down her name she then came really close to me to pull her name tag and loading said yes my name is Stephanie, I told her oh you can get loud right, she then said why don't you two just leave. Wow! I am fighting cancer, which I didn't mention to her, but germs to me are no joke or anyone who has cancer or other diseases which the immune stsyem is frail. As we were walking to my car the employee who didn't wash her hands was laughing her ass off. In my 55 years on this earth I have never come across such bad costumer service ever! read more

I understand that this is a new business in this area but that also means that first impressions are very important. Our wait time was tolerable considering they were very busy but our food was very cold and I did not get what I ordered. When I explained the error to waitress...she acted as if she didn't understand my explanation and that I was to just be satisfied. Some of the staff appeared very disorganized and untrained.We will not be returning to this location. You all need more preparation at this location. read more

It was the first time eating at the new Denny's in Bastrop on Saturday night. There was a big group of us, approximately 14 or so people. When we arrived, the place was not busy as it was around 1:30 am. It started off by taking 28 minutes to get our drinks. Being as it was not busy, our waitress asked for help, but the other waitresses apparently only cared about themselves. Then we received our food an hour after the drinks. And this had nothing to do with the waitress, but the cooks. The waitress we had was doing her very best to keep us satisfied as no one else would bother to lend her a helping hand when she asked numerous times. They were out of marinara for the cheesesticks, but the cooks didn't tell our waitress until after they were served to us. The cooks also neglected to tell our waitress they were out of mashed potatoes for the meatloaf until the person who ordered the meal, asked why there was french fries on the plate. One of our guests didn't even receive his meal at all and was still charged for it. Even after speaking with the 18 year old manager who just graduated high school (her words, not mine), nothing was done to resolve the problems. Finally to sum up our experience, because we had a big truck with a trailer and had to park behind Denny's, we walked to the vehicle only to see all the cooks outside working on one of the cook's car. To be exact, they were changing the spark plugs and wires. Meanwhile, several of the waitresses sat on the curb watching and smoking while their customers were inside waiting on them to return. Good grief this is a bad restaurant! I'm writing this review in hopes the owner will see it and do something immediately because the manager certainly couldn't have cared less about our experience. Easter morning, but we didn't have to wait long for seating which should have told us something right there. A waitress didn't come by for our drink orders for another 15 minutes. She did apologize for being so late, so we stayed. We ordered standard food, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. And someone came by to give us coffee and water. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Our coffee cups were long emptied, no one came by to refill, when we finally got our food, everything was stone cold! Three of us were very hungry so we tried to eat what we could, but the fourth sent hers back... and continued to wait. My pancakes were so cold the whipped butter wouldn't melt. Had one bite. There was something off tasting in them. Same with the oatmeal. And then someone said, "my eggs are raw!" We tried to get the waitress' attention but no one was looking. When she came to deliver the re-cooked food, and some items that were late in coming from the original order, we started to tell her about the uncooked cold food and she immediately said, "I'll get the manager." English muffin hadn't even been toasted, just put on the plate straight from the package apparently. A woman came over and identified herself as the manager, but didn't give a name, and my brother began to tell her about the horrible food, the cold food, the uncooked food, the bad service, etc. and she just said, "do you want us to make it over?" We had to be somewhere and couldn't wait any longer - had been sitting there for an hour and a half already, so he answered "no" thinking she'd see the un-eaten food and tell us there would be no charge. As it should have been. But no. She just said, "sorry" and left. We then had to flag someone down to ask for the check and had to wait for even that. I actually started thinking about walking out without paying, something I've never in my life ever even considered. So we paid - full price - and went to our event hungry because we were now terribly late. The owner needs to shut this place down, re-staff, re-boot before its too late to save the investment.
