Nestled behind Chestnut st in historic Bastrop, overlooking the Colorado River, you will find the best meatball you've ever had in your life. I was with a large party and we were seated on an outdoor deck area that overlooks a lovely greenbelt and the Colorado river. I was uncertain about outdoor seating in June, but they had lots of fans that dispense a light mist to help cool the area. The drinks were excellent, I had a margarita on the rocks with tajin rim and it was tasty and refreshing. The food was fabulous! I highly recommend the meatballs. Everyone in our party could not get enough of them. I will be back to try the wings, they looked delish. Misty was our server and I am still in awe over her. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our (very large) party was taken care of. There were dozens of us and I'm not even sure how she managed to do it but I realized afterwards, I never waited long for anything. Misty was always nearby and so kind and attentive. We asked for some tips on what to drink and eat and she nailed it!!! The watermelon vodka and the chips with dip "cream cheese veggies " yum!!! We also ordered the meatball sub, the wings and the beer which ch they make was beyond our expectations!!! It was hit but the fans and shade made it better! The only issue were flies didn't let us enjoy, you should get the equipment some restaurants have on walls to attract the flies. This is a chill spot by the river! I would recommend this spot if you want to take a walk on the river afterwards! We went during Christmas time and did the stroll and then got a bite and it worked out perfectly. There is indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of room/tables. Went here with some friends and coworkers for lunch. I loved the outdoor space and vantage point. Theirs a nice outdoor stage and a walking trail. The kindly greet you upon entering and they have plenty of seating. We tried the meatballs and Chicken Pesto Pizza. Both were pretty good. We were on our way to the Texas A&M game from San Antonio and came across this gem in the evening. What a great atmosphere with the huge patio, lights and live music. We ordered the artichoke dip, sweet sriracha wings and getting figgy with it pizza from the shack down at the patio and found our table. Parking was a bit tricky we weren't really sure where to park we parked on a high top part of where there was stairs to go down and a really long deck to walk to see the live music im really glad I did not wear heels or uncomfortable shoes because the walk down was a bit much. Did you know that the businesses that surround Neighbors in the little buildings cannot have customer parking only for THEIR business or tow away cars taking up spots for their own customers? That would be because the same people that own Neighbors own those buildings and want restaurant patrons to be able to park there. Did you also know that if you have a flat tire or car trouble in one of their parking lots and call a tow truck that Neighbors will call the police on the tow truck for "blocking" the parking lot? We have been coming here for 4 years. Not a super longtime. Tom and his staff were awesome. New ownership. Gave our name for the wait list. The singer and husband came in 15 min after us. They've got a nice venue, so they can afford to serve disappointing food and still stay in business. My fiancé wanted to take some friends here, and since I'm usually the one to pick a restaurant, I didn't tell him I hated his plan and wanted to go somewhere else. There was a surprising wait even at almost 2 pm (on a Sunday.) We were going to take a walk after eating, but we just did the walk while we waited for a table. I warned friends not to get a sandwich, but one friend did get the Lunch Lady Sandwich anyways. She was, indeed, disappointed. The bread was barely toasted on one side, and burnt on the other. Even after picking around the burnt bread, she said the filling tasted funny. I tried it, because I was curious. I didn't think the center, evenly toasted part of the sandwich tasted funny, or as disappointing as my first sandwich here, but still, the toasting job was embarrassing. I figured I should try their pizza since that's what they're known for. I split the Margarita pizza with a friend, because he doesn't eat pork. The first thing I noticed was how limp and mushy the crust was in the center. I ended up dissecting the pizza, taking the cheese off the limp crust, breaking off some of the outer crust and eating them together. This tasted alright, but a good pizza shouldn't need to be dissected to taste good. At least there was plenty of cheese! Our salads were fine. My fiancé seemed to like his wings, but went in with low expectations, and it's hard to mess up wings, so I'm not sure how good they really were. The guys were pleasantly surprised by their Hop Water. We split a cheesecake. The flavor of the day was German Chocolate. Due to its sheer size, it looked were more impressive than it's flavor. I'm not sure if it was simply overly sweet, or what exactly was off about it, but it wasn't the rich, subtle, balanced cheesecake we were hoping for. (This was nothing like the cheesecake I had last time, so maybe the baker just had an off day. While I said that one was a heavy flavor for a hot summer night, it was still well-executed.) read more

I had a Bloody Mary (half price on Sundays ) and sampled a shandy from their attached brewery. I also ordered the OG Comeback dip to snack on. It was very tasty. Think Super Bowl Sunday rotel dip but with cream cheese. IMO it's hard to go wrong with cream cheese and they certainly didn't. Their menu looks to have a lot of impressive options. I'm sad I don't live near this restaurant because it would definitely be a favorite of mine. Their patio is also dog friendly. They promptly brought my dog water and made sure his bowl stayed full. First time here at this restaurant that sits on a hill overlooking the Colorado river. The place has a rustic character and even features a couple of old rusty cars from the early 20s. There is a lot of outdoor seating and the place is dog friendly. They have a full bar and even some local craft beers on tap. I tried a flight of 4 of the local beers and they were on point. After looking at the menu, I could see that this place is basically your sandwich and pizza style restaurant. I was surprised that I did not see a burger on the menu. I settled for a pizza which was...ok, but nothing that would keep me coming back. Wife opted for the gluten free hippy dippy veggie sandwich which was a thumbs up decision. The views and vibes of Neighbor's are unbeatable. Highly recommend the patio. We braved the heat (the fans helped) and it was worth it. They have live music on weekends but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check it out. We did walk down to the river afterward and it was lovely. Next, the service here was top notch as well. Our waitress was wonderful (I think her name was Madison). Friendly and extremely efficient and helpful. The food was mostly good. First prize goes to the Brussels sprouts -- they were excellent. They nailed the texture and the flavor. Yum! Also enjoyed the Buffalo wings and their homemade meatballs. I did find their pizza to be a bit lackluster in terms of both crust and toppings (we tried the "Hot Li'l Honey"). I am updating this review. The first time I ate on the balcony at lunch today and it was absolutely lovely with such a great view. It's giving all the good vibes. I had the almost BLT on ciabatta and it was delicious and it wasn't lacking in any ingredients at all. I've had pizzas here before as well that we're good and I didn't have to worry about parking because it's just a short walk from my office it's fun to people watch people down in the park. The waiters in the staff are extremely kind and welcoming. I've also had their chicken salad sandwich which was delicious and my coworker says the brussels sprouts are her favorite thing in the world. We went on a day trip to Bastrop and decided to stop here for a bite for lunch. The absolute most amazing part of this place is the view from the patio outside. The restaurant overlooks the water and big, old trees surround. It's really something, especially when the weather was nice (like it was yesterday at around 11:30 am). Neighbor's is casual and dog friendly, which I thought was great. Our waiter, Matthew, was kind and helpful. The food was tasty but not out-of-this-world. We got salads and their OG dip with chips.
