Hit up this place for a Saturday night of good food and music. 602 hit the note for both. We started with a dirty martini, where there were choices on the vodka depending on your taste and budget. The beer selection has lots of familiar brews and some fun different ones. The bartender was great about explaining each. The dinner menu had some tried and true items, like the burger and fries. But, 602 is now leaning on its roots and culture with a mediterranean menu. Since I couldn't choose one, I decided on the mixed grill plate. Kafta, taouk, beef kabobs, hummus, tabouli and a side of garlic sauce. The burger is made with Wagu beef and was cooked perfect. It was everything it should have been. The mixed grill was nothing that I would have expected to find in Bastrop. The taste, the portions and just the offering of menu items that was not the usual that is easily found in this town. The garlic sauce was perfect to put over the meat. I did wish I had a little more and should have asked for a side. The hummus was fresh, and the portion size of that and the meal was extremely filling. Driving through Bastrop on our way to Burnet we were hungry and took a look at Yelp for some help finding a place in Bastrop. We decided on 602 and glad we did! We were greeted promptly and got us a table for two. After ordering a couple of drinks, a 602 Binary Brew for me and a nice cucumber cocktail for my wife, we took a look at the food menu and were surprised to see Lebanese food on there. Not expecting that we devised a plan to grab an appetizer and split an entree. Our waitress was helpful and had great suggestions. We went for an appetizer of dolmas and our entree was the mixed grill, a combo of beef kabob, chicken kabob, and a lamb kabob (kafta). Had one of those days...opted for the Sazerac. Damn, that's a good cocktail and a healthy poor! Good enough to get a second. Opted for the chicken fried chicken. Fresh and hand breaded. You can tell. Really good. Buddy enjoyed his burger and beer(s). Decent service. Austin prices are so out of touch it feels weird to pay "normal" prices when I travel. My wife and I were tasked with finding a location to hold a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner for our son. We had looked at ~5 different venues in the Bastrop area and we clearly decided on 602 Brewing; oddly, another venue is the one that recommended 602. We met with Yvonne and walked through a few things - it was relatively simple and comforting. We had right at 50 people show up on a Friday night for this dinner and Raymond's team was beyond prepared! The back room was staged accordingly, any special requests we had were there ready to go. Food began flowing and the service was outstanding. I must add that Natalie was in charge of helping that night, she had a team of two other people. THEY WERE FANTASTIC! Drinks were being run back and forth, it was a wonderful experience. This is a partial review. 602 is a brewery. I was already five sheets to the wind when I showed up after drinking serious quantities of moonshine at the Copper Still next door. So no beer for this boy. But I did have a chance to work my way through some of the food menu. My veggie burger was first rate. My gumbo was also first rate. There are a lot of fine veggie burgers out there. So that buys the 602 no particular distinction. Gumbo however is often as dull as dishwater. In contrast, the 602's gumbo has some good serious kick to it and some first rate sausage in it. This was a genuinely superior gumbo. The clouds of alcohol are obscuring my memories of dessert ... But I am imagining a tiramisu that was pretty good. But then, I am like Will Rogers. I never met a tiramisu I didn't like. * * * Overall, I had a first rate time. My overall pleasure was enhanced by the Eagles doing seriously nasty things to the Commanders. As a Yelp reviewer, I can not guarantee that your team will win if you watch your game at the 602. But you will certainly eat well. If you rooting for the Cowboys this year, The food at the 602 may be your only consolation. read more

The food is generally good. The crawfish chowder is great. The service is good. I was let down by the sausage platter appetizer, the sausages were warm at best. I wouldn't order them again. The crawfish and crab Mac cheese sounded delicious, but was mediocre. The mussels weren't your typical light white wine taste... this was more like soaked in sausage juice. Definitely a no! Have had them on the radar for a minute and with the GD in tow we hit the back roads from Manor. Arrived shortly after they opened and were promptly seated. Love the look of the place with ample seating and a huge bar as well. We started with a pretzel that came with mustard and a beer cheese...and it was fantastic...only down side it took 25 minutes to come out...baked to order??...if so this should be stated on the menu as that matches the amount of time to get..All the meals came with a starter of soup or salad....I opted for the chowder which was amazing...the GD loved it as well...Wife went with the chicken and rice...good but the rice was obliterated and very Over cooked. The GD opted for the salad....low and behold she tried raw cucumber for the first time and fell in love. Main dishes were a hit as well, with the GD hitting the 602 Alfredo with chicken...cheesy and delicious....Wife went with the Chicken fried steak...and should have opted for the gravy on the side (her bad)...Keep the crispy crisp...steak was tender, breading good...she wasnt a huge fan of the green chile gravy...but thats personal choice....The cheddar mash was just Cheddar shreds on top of mashers...I went with the 602 Shrimp and grits...and although I felt it was on the smaller side its was an Amazing eating experience...Perfectly cooked shrimp, sausage should be thicker but very tasty...the one thing in this dish that drew me to it...Sambal Chili Garlic Butter....again with the main dishes...they took a bite longer to come out then expected but a solid visit over all. read more

Went to 602 for the first time with a group of ladies from the neighborhood. They accommodated our group comfortably inside where it was nice and cool. We were among the first to arrive at opening and had a reservation. Orders were taken and food was served in good time. The menu has a good amount of variety. The pretzel was fabulous along with the Greek Salad topped with grilled shrimp. We were able to visit and enjoy our meals without being rushed. They allowed individual checks, although it took a while to closeout since our server was covering several tables along with our group. I plan to return and check out their dinner options. read more

Stopped at the 602 on my way home from Marble Falls and ordered a few things to go. I am so pleased that I did!! I ordered the Reuben rolls, tempura shrimp and Ray's crawfish chowder. Get the 602 Gretel Hefeweizen. 7% dark wheat with complexity and hints of banana. The winter warmer is 2nd best on the list. Shrimp n grits. Now pay attention here - if your grits suck, I'm gonna call you out. From Georgia and overly proud of it, grits are the one thing you can't get wrong, or we can't be friends. That said, they did it right and with distinction. Smooth, could've been a little more creamier but they make up for it with spice. There's a residual heat these leave on your lips that I've not had with grits before. I finished my plate and with fervor. I ate each subsequent bite faster and faster. Lastly, our server, named Nick, was superb. Attentive, confident, offered samples, made recommendations, talked about the history of the place and how it's used now. When we entered we were told to sit anywhere by what appeared to be another patron eating with 3 other people. After finding a clean table on the third try, we still waited 15 minutes till getting menus. After ordering 2 flights it was dropped off unmarked, and unexplained. I had to approach the bar to ask in what order they were poured. To properly log them in untapped. The interior is pretty typical for the downtown vibe in most Texas small towns. Once we had our waitress service was good. We only ordered fried pickles and they were excellent. The beers were great as well. We are beer reviewers and we rated all their own brews in the 3.4-4 star range which is good. The experimental, if I had to guess was a lime fruit. My suggestion is to work on initial interaction when you have customers come in. We spent our first 15 minutes feeling confused and not knowing what was going on. Came here for a double date, plenty of seating and the service was great. We came on a weekday during dinner time, so it wasn't too crowded, but it is a bar, so any later, there will be more people. They also almost always have live music on their patio, which is great if your looking for somewhere in the area to hang out with drinks and friends that isn't just inside a bar. I got the shrimp and grits, it was so good, but I do wish the portion had been just a little bigger. Maybe a little more grits on the plate, or served with some garlic bread. My wedding was in Red Rock November 2024, and we were struggling to find a good spot to host the rehearsal dinner for a large group of about 50 people. 602 Brewing had a big private room and we had the option to let guests order from the normal menu or we could choose their catering option, which was a fajita buffet. For the bar they also gave us options: guests pay for their own, we leave it as a full open bar, or we use their ticket method where each guest gets 2 tickets for "free drinks" and that all just goes on the tab for the end of the night. We opted for the catering buffet and the drink ticket option and it was so easy and convenient! The fajitas were fantastic; juicy and flavorful, with plenty of options for toppings! And every drink ordered was perfect. But the best part of the entire experience was the staff and the service. They went above and beyond - super accommodating, pulled in extra tables and chairs as soon as we realized we needed a few more seats, frequently rounded to clear tables of used dishes and to collect more drink orders. Everyone was so friendly! The icing on the cake: the owner came out to meet us and brought us a gift. He told us how he was from Lebanon, and this book was written by an author from his hometown. The book has all kinds of short pieces of life advice in it, and he pointed out the specific chapter on love and marriage. Inside the front cover he had written a short note of congratulations and every staff member there serving us that night had signed inside it as well. It was the most thoughtful unexpected gift!! What a crap evening. We are here for the UT/A&M game and looking forward to a fun evening. I ordered the 602 Slaughterhouse Red which I enjoyed and then asked for a second one, and they were out. How can you be out on a Saturday night! I then asked for a pretzel for an appetizer, sorry we are out. My cousin then asked for Chicken Fried Steak, again out. He ended up getting Chicken Fried Chicken, which he said was good and asked for grits. The waitress did write down grits and my cousin got mashed potatoes. Can't believe they can't get anything right. The waitress said she would get him grits, they were out and had to make some more. Grits take at least 20-30 minutes to make properly. What does this place have? Sorry but if you do not have beer, appetizers or an entree, why are you still in business? I asked the manager about everything and received the most cockamamie excuse for them not having their staple products. Whoever is placing orders for their staple goods is doing a piss poor job. This is a great brewery/saloon. Very western and Texas feel. A very nice bar. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Plenty of space inside and out. One thing to note. Street parking is limited but there are parking areas behind the building. I tried a couple of beer and the Jessies Girl stout was a huge winner for me. Had a 602 Burger and it was really good. All-around positive experience; I would go back. The beers were outstanding: they were serving four of their in-house beers so we tried the flight (a great deal during Happy hour, by the way), and not one of them was disappointing. I loved the Tipsy Nun and my wife loved the Beaux's Barrel, but the other two were tasty as well. Our server was exceptional: friendly, helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgable about the beers she's serving. She did everything she could to guarantee us an enjoyable visit. We had not been to 602 for a very long time until recently. We are so glad we came back. What we both ordered was a special so it's not on their regular menu. It was beef stroganoff. It had a great taste and the beef was amazingly tender. It came with a side of soup or salad. I chose one of the soups of the day. I can't recall its name but the description was a Tuscany cream based soup with sausage, kale and potatoes. It was insanely good. I could take that home by the bucket. It's a tiny bit spicy (but I'm the first to admit I'm a wimp) and normally I'd stay away from that but the flavor of the soup is worth the spiciness.
