    House made gelato
    CritDicks ..

Bastrop is very lucky to have a place like this. Very nice Italian inspired pizza. Everything here seems to be house made. We went at a time that was expected to be busy. We got a lucky seat at the bar and had wonderful and enlightening service from the bar server and the owner. Seems like we have a lot in common once again. Food was delightful and another refreshing taste of Bastrop. CritDicks

Decided to try out this new Italian restaurant we been hearing about. It was busy on a Sunday afternoon, all tables looked fully booked. Got food to go, for a family of 5... Chicken Parmesan was tasty! Wish it had more marinara sauce on the pasta because it soaked up into the noodles quickly on the drive back home. The chicken itself was delicious, crispy and cheesy! The pepperoni pizza was quite expensive for what it is. About $26- $28? We were pretty bummed because my sister in law was missing her cacio e pepe pasta that she had ordered... when we called the restaurant stating the check list it was marked off like it was inside the bag, they apologized and would call us back with the options of what could be done. We already made the drive back home and it would have been an inconvenience to drive back that way.. it was just an unfortunate mishap, they let us know they would refund the pasta back to the card.

Well, Bastrop has a taste of the big city here. If I have it right there is a No 28 in Austin. I dropped in on a early Saturday evening hoping to get a seat at the bar, which I did. The place was hopping. I would say a reservation is typically necessary. The service was nice. I got the Cacio E Pepe and the Caprese to start. The bartender recommended a California Cabernet. I can't recall the name but is was quite nice. Now for the take on the meal. Caprese, tomatoes are out of season and the mozzarella was not very good, a "C" at best. Then the Cacio E Pepe was abysmal, I am not sure what happened. Just look at the picture I posted, "D". Not going to be returning.

They offer a menu of apps, salads, Southern Italian pasta and NY pizza, along with Gelato, desserts, beer, wine and cocktails. There's chicken parmegiana and eggplant parmegiana. But entrees are pretty much pasta or pizza. Still... the pasta is obviously made from scratch, and that's not something I expected in Bastrop, so I'm very pleased. I have not tried the pizza. It looked good. But in my next visit I'll try the pasta that's served in a cheese rind. And the time after that I'm probably reorder exactly what I tried last night, which is the Cannelloni Funghi - three amazing tubes of fresh pasta, stuffed with Italian cheese and a bit of veal mince, and topped with a mushroom cream sauce and a liberal amount of shaved parmesan cheese. So rich and velvety and flavorful! Yes, they offer fresh ground black pepper :-) I had what the waiter described at "spumoni" but it was not spumoni ice cream - it was what he described as an "adult milkshake" with a chocolate liqueur and brandy. It was really tastey. They say they have "chocolate chip gelato" lol. But don't get fooled, it's authentic Italian stracciatella! That's so iconic in Italy. It's really sad that the waiter called it "chocolate chip." Hardly does it justice, as you'd know if you've tried it. Their $15 cocktails are really good. But who puts Jim Beam in a Manhattan, Negroni or an Old Fashion? One of the drinks had Templeton Rye, which was an infinitely better choice. I mean... Jim Beam? Really? I should have taken a star off for that... especially at that price. But... dang, that cannelloni was good!

There was a line outside waiting for the door to open on a Sunday afternoon. My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed! We splurged and ordered the cocktails (the margarita is phenomenal), fried ravioli (tasty), split a Caesar salad (one of the best we've had), a large pepperoni pizza, cacio e Pepe (pasta in cheese bowl) with meatballs, and dessert: cannoli, gelato, and the chocolate cake (w/an espresso martini). The service was fabulous and the ambiance was great with classic Italian music playing the background and cute touches of modern Italian decor. Very glad to see another nice, delicious restaurant come alive in Bastrop!

So glad they have come to Bastrop. I've been to the one in Austin a few times so I knew the food is delicious and the ingredients are fresh. Same goes for Bastrop. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful throughout our entire meal. We ordered a bottle of red, skipped apps this time but there are so many options at different price points which is greatly appreciated. I got the gnocchi pesto, the flavor was perfect and the portion was generous- the gnocchi were fluffy and cooked just right. My husband ordered the lasagna, the piece was large and he enjoyed the flavors. We will be adding No 28 to our list of Bastrop favorites to try out more of the menu!

We chose Numero 28 Bastrop to celebrate my birthday and couldn't have been happier with the experience. We had reservations and were seated right away with friendly, attentive service throughout the evening. The Pollo Alla Parmigiana and Penne Alla Boscaiola were both incredible--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. A glass of Cabernet paired beautifully with dinner, and the Tiramisu and Cannolis were the perfect way to end the meal. Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, and spectacular service. Highly recommend--we'll definitely be back!

My husband and I enjoyed mid week dinner at No 28. We've attempted to try this new spot a couple of times but they've always had a long wait. This time we walked in and were seated right away. This quaint spot on Main Street Bastrop has been nicely renovated and includes a full bar and gelato case. The menu included several apps, NY style pizzas, pastas and salads. Our waiter, Michael provided excellent service, offering suggestions and even holding our entree orders until our appetizer arrived. The calamari was good and the zucchini was a nice addition. Not long after finishing our app, our mains arrived. The pasta was served in a skillet which was a novel touch. It was perfectly al dente and the meat sauce was nicely balanced and flavorful. My husband said the pizza was among the best he's had and he didn't leave the end crust as he typically does. We fully enjoyed our dining experience and plan to return. Hope to try the gelato next time!

This is a new Italian restaurant that has opened in Bastrop. The service was exceptional, the ambiance was very nice, and the food was good. My only concern was pricing. The pepperoni pizza was good however the price of $26.00, for the size, was a bit high. The pizza was a little bigger than 8 bite size pieces (picture attached), which would be better priced at $18.00. Totally understand having to pay for space, food, and employees but this is Texas, not New York.

I built my own white pizza with garlic butter herb sauce, fresh mozz, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. It was pretty tasty. I was STARVING so maybe that amplified the flavor. This brings me to my next point... Pizza takes FOREVER. I clocked it and it was a full hour from the moment we ordered. This was particularly unpleasant because I was waiting in the car with my two bored and hungry toddlers. If you have kids, you get it. Not ideal. By the way, we tried to call ahead and no one picked up the phone (we tried a couple times). I should also add that the prices are very reasonable here. The kids menu pizzas are very cheap and more than enough food to fill them up.

All I can say is wow. I ordered the creamy garlic pasta with chicken, spinach, bacon, and onions, along with a supreme pizza, and both were outstanding. The pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender, the bacon added the perfect savory bite, and the spinach and onions balanced everything beautifully. Then there was the pizza. This wasn't one of those pizzas where you have to hunt for toppings. Every slice was loaded with pepperoni, ham, sausage, olives, mushrooms, and vegetables. The crust had a great texture, the cheese was perfectly melted, and every bite was packed with flavor. One of the best parts is the value. The portions were generous enough that this takeout order will easily feed me for several days, which makes the quality even more impressive. As someone who wasn't expecting to discover amazing Italian food in Bastrop, Bastiano's was a pleasant surprise. If you're local or just passing through town, do yourself a favor and give them a try. I'll definitely be ordering again before my assignment is over.

The person greeting us, even shared some insights for some upcoming shows. They'd be having that seem great to attend. It's fun to have that sense of community being welcomed into the restaurant as soon as you get there! We split up, and I went to grab seats while the other member of my party stood in line. Seating wasn't difficult, and it was well ventilated, which was highly favorable and much appreciated in the heat with missing fans, running constantly, cute ambience, lighting with the small bulb lights, and even bug spray available they make sure that this dining experience was covered on all bases so that you would have a great one. The menus are easily accessible, with multiple copies, being passed down the line, and sitting in the stand as soon as you walk up. However, after hearing about the restaurant online, and taking some time to read the menu prior to arrival, I knew what was on my mind - carbonara. From arrival to ordering with maybe about a 30 to 40 minute wait however, it was worthwhile. The dishes are made to order, with fresh pasta being used, making it even better. We opted for two half orders to share, and that was definitely enough food because we ended up even taking leftovers. We also got an order of the garlic bread with tons of roasted garlic, parmesan, and green onions. While the carbonara was flavorful and what my mind was initially set on, the other pasta actually ended up stealing the show and was what we finished immediately the Leopold had a pesto base and a nice hint of spice even without the peppers (which were taken off in our order). Overall, the most difficult part of this meal was parking, and the fight was completely forgotten after my first taste.
