The gelato here is special, the best I have had and that is after I lived in Italy for 5 months. Met the owner as well who takes such pride in his process and ingredients. There are also lots of fun interactive things for the kids including bells and horns.

All natural ingredients! That's their focus and emphasis. This parlour was on my list as a "must-have" before leaving the Lone Star State. It was definitely worth the approximately 30-minute drive a some traffic. They call it True Lav My palette's favorite flavor is their honey lavender. While I got a medium size with three scoops, the distinguishable flavors make you truly appreciate artisanal creativity. Inside you'll feel a comfy vibe with a few tables for coziness, including a table for babies only - too cute. The piano displayed adds to the traditional feel of an old town in Italy. We received excellent warm service. You can tell the pride taken in their organic ingredients. There was a lesson or two as well when we discussed the contents. Great gelati! In addition to gelati, try pairing it with some coffee. Ring the bell on your way out if you loved your serving of real Italian gelati.

We felt so lucky to have been patrons of this sweet gelato shop. Organic, homemade and deliciously fresh gelato served up quickly by the sweetest people. They gladly offered us samples and included a free tiny cup serving for our toddler. The stracciatella was our favorite, it's like vanilla with pieces of chocolate that she says is stretched so it's very thin and not overwhelming. Inside boasts the cutest decor and they had the Italian music playing in the background. We can't wait to go back!

EXCELLENT!! We stopped by on a Sunday drive to nowhere and my husband got lemon sorbetti and cantaloupe gelato. Y'all, this is real fruit. So fun and super tasty. The small is not small at all. Enough for two people to share.

Such an awesome spot! Delicious and very friendly owner. All the flavors are organic and very high quality. Only open on weekends!

May 2024, first time here and I'm glad I stopped by. The owner was pleasant and fun. He schooled you about their product and love their concept. Everything are made from scratch and you can truly taste the ingredients. I tried tru lavender and lemon crema. I'll definitely go back and try the other flavors.

The Ice cream was delicious. The staff we very kind and shared information about the ice cream that was interesting. They place is very warm and decorated for all ages. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone in the area looking for great gelato and a lesson about the making of it!

"trio of perfection" (salted Carmel, espresso and dark chocolate)

This has got to be...hands down...one of the most amazing little spots I've ever visited in Salado! The ambiance is absolute perfection and the gelato.. exceeds the thought of perfection. Super sweet owners with a tangible passion for what they do (to create a memorable moment for every person that walks into their shop and organic top notch frozen treats). I went with a friend and ordered the medium (which means 3 scoops!). I elected the trio of perfection (not the real name - but it should be!) One scoop of Salted Carmel, one scoop of Espresso, and one scoop of Dark Chocolate (my fave!). They offer free samples of every flavor... they even encourage it! They care so much about the customer..I will definitely be returning again. They're only open on weekends so be mindful of their hours.

Gelatoro is located in Hyde Park on 45th street (faces this direction) not Duval Road as the address implies. There is a small Gelato sign on Duval street, which ironically is on the side of Gelatoro. The building houses both Juiceland and Gelatoro. I purchased a non-dairy lemon and strawberry gelato (two of four dairy-free options). The gelato was refreshing and tasty simultaneously. Gelatoro features house-made gelato with rotating flavors and fan favorites including chocolate, blueberry chip, and strawberry. Their coffee and espresso options offerings may also include affogatos for a sugar rush. Bakery treats include cookies, bars and candy treats including Dubai chocolate. The cashier was very friendly offering me several samples needed for me to make my final selection. There is a small amount of free parking available to customers for Gelatoro. In addition, the gelato is reasonably priced. In general, gelato is better for you than ice cream and more dense. A nice treat for a sizzling hot day in Austin, TX...

The high quantity of cocoa changed the flavor of the initial bites. I ended up removing the cocoa all together. The Lemon Sorbetto was amazing! It is dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. It had a great lemon flavor and was incredibly refreshing. I also enjoyed the Amarena Cherry. It is gluten-free. It felt more like ice cream due to the dairy, so it was less refreshing, but still a treat. I would have enjoyed it more with more cherries in it. I look forward to trying more frozen treats from Gelatoro.

I'd definitely come back because the quality of the gelato was excellent. The only area that could use some improvement was the customer service flow. When we walked in, there was one employee working, a customer with three young children who was taking quite a while deciding on flavors, and another customer who appeared to be waiting to pay. I don't know how long he had already been waiting, but by the time he finally paid, he had nearly finished eating his gelato. While the family was still deciding, the customer herself kindly told us to go ahead and place our order so she wouldn't keep holding us up. We appreciated that gesture and stepped up to order. I ordered chocolate and stracciatella. When I asked for chocolate, the employee asked if I was sure and whether I'd had it before. She did offer me a sample, which was thoughtful, but it caught me off guard since I wasn't expecting to have to justify my flavor choice. I also asked if they had cones, and she said they didn't. She then asked what size cup I wanted. I replied that I'd like one scoop of each flavor, not realizing the scoop count and cup size were separate choices. It took a couple of exchanges before I understood what she meant. A little more explanation upfront would have made the ordering process much smoother. After our gelato was prepared, I expected we'd be able to pay and move on. Instead, the employee immediately went back to helping the family continue sampling and deciding on flavors before ringing us up. By the time we were finally able to pay, my husband had almost finished eating his gelato. The employee was genuinely friendly and patient, especially with the family, and I understand it's not easy managing everything alone. I just think some additional training on balancing multiple customers--such as quickly checking out customers whose orders are already complete before returning to someone who is still deciding--would make the experience much smoother for everyone. Overall, the gelato was delicious, the shop was clean, and I'd happily come back. I just hope the service flow improves because the product itself is definitely worth the visit.
