My friend and I had lunch at Espada de Brazil yesterday, and what an absolute delight! If you're looking for the classic Brazilian steakhouse experience, you'll find it here -- ample, delicious servings of picanha, fraldinha, and a variety of other meats, plus grilled pineapple, which I'd never had before and was amazing. The salad and hot dish bars are fabulous, too. Maybe not as enormous a spread as you'll find at one of the large Austin Brazilian steakhouses, but all the key things you'd want are there: smoked salmon, boiled shrimp, caprese salad, charcuterie, and some unexpected surprises in the hot section, including BBQ ribs and an amazing feijoada. I'll be back soon for just the salad bar for lunch! And if you're not in the mood for all-you-can-eat meat, they also have a bar menu with lighter fare like a picanha sandwich, along with other specialties carried over from their food truck experience. The caipirinhas were perfect -- both the classic and the passionfruit. We also got a sample of their sangria, which was excellent. But the highlight was really the service. Samira, one of the owners, works the bar and visits with guests. She's super-friendly and clearly cares deeply about both the business and the community. Our waiter -- sorry, I didn't catch his name -- was warm and friendly, with exactly the right amount of attentiveness. And the whole team serving the meats and sides contributed to the experience. Exquisite dining experience, with small-town, personal warmth. And all of it for roughly $10-20 less per person than you'd expect to spend at a comparable Brazilian steakhouse in Austin. We went to this new restaurant in Bastrop last Friday and had such a good time! The new owners have done a lot in a short time but say they are still going to do a lot more to improve the place inside and out. They are no longer using the door facing the street so if you've ever been there, be sure and drive around the back now. This gives them much more room inside for more tables. They have redone the bar area and it looks very elegant when you walk in. This was our first visit there and we were glad that the manager came to our table to explain the menu to us. It can get a little confusing. They started out by bringing french fries and some fried strips of potatoes to our table. After our drinks came, they came to take our order. You can get the feast, which includes the salad bar and all of the meats they bring around to your table. Or you can just get the salad bar for a lot cheaper, and there are more than enough items on there for a full dinner, just not the meat selection. The drink I ordered was a strawberry caipirinha and it was delicious. You start out with the salad bar which is really a little misleading because there's way more on there than your typical salad bar. When you are finished with the salad bar, you turn the little card they give you to the green side up and they start coming around to your table with the different variety of meats. Some of them I liked, some of them not as much, but that's the fun thing about it - getting to try all of the different flavors. The servers were all friendly but I did have a hard time understanding some of them when they were telling me which type of meat they were serving. The place was packed and there was quite a line when we left so I highly recommend having a reservation, especially on the weekends. It is fairly pricey but worth it for a nice night out. Our new Brazilian Steakhouse in Bastrop is so fun!! We were second in the door for Sunday Brunch but it filled quickly! One big salad bar table initially struck me as "too small," when compared to larger Brazilian steakhouses we've visited. But I was wrong!! It was packed full of small bites and breakfast favorites -- and as we sat, more bowls and dishes kept getting added or refilled. All was fresh and delicious! The meats were delightful, especially the picanha (beef or lamb--both were yummy!). And the Brazilian lemonade served at brunch was so luxurious!! Don't miss the churros for dessert!! They're stuffed (as were we, but I never turn down a churro!). Hubby wants to buy those for take-out! Best of all, was the service. This is a small venue, so attentive service is pretty much guaranteed, but they do it so well! If you want it, they bring it! Chimichurri, more sides, more drinks, special doneness on your meat. They've got a truck setup at Ani's Day & Night. The food is pretty decent. Literally the biggest empanadas I've ever seen in my life! The empanadas are cooked to a nice golden crisp and the beef/cheese combo seasoning is top-notch. My friend and I shared an empanadas/fries basket and we were so full! My boyfriend got the Picanha sandwich and I had a bite (ok several bites, truth be told) and it was fantastic! It's their version of a Philly Cheeseteak, which face it, anywhere you go outside of Philly, it's a version for sure. I would instead call this a super yummy steak sandwich. The meat was wonderfully tender and melted in my mouth. The roll was the proper consistency to be able to hold the meat and toppings without sogginess. We just spent the evening here with a party of ten as part of a triple-birthday celebration in our family. We were originally planning on a different place, but I recently found out that this spot opened up in Bastrop. The place is smaller and a bit less fancy than the Brazilian steakhouses in Austin, but the food is just as good. I'd even argue that some of it were even better. I'm a huge fan of the parmesan pork, even though most people find it too dry, and it was better here than at any other place I've tried. The salad bar was smaller than what I'm used to, but the selection was great. Everything that I tried was delicious, and the others in my group who tried other things were very pleased, too. Everyone in our party had their own personal favorite. My four-year-old granddaughter couldn't get enough of the sausage, which was quite good. The service was outstanding, which I've found to be typical of these types of restaurants. The service staff (and I'm assuming the managers) were on top of everything, keeping our drinks filled and frequently asking if we needed anything else, but managed to also be unobtrusive at the same time Towards the end of the meal, they began asking if there was any particular cuts that anyone wanted, and they filled our last requests. I'll admit that I had more Caipirinhas than I should have, which likely made my experience even more enjoyable, but we all had a great time. We all enjoyed the experience very much, and while it was indeed pricy, it was still considerably less expensive than I would have paid in Austin. I'm super-happy that this is an option in Bastrop. I'll absolutely be visiting again, and I really hope that it does well enough to be a permanent fixture. read more

You can feel the close family values in the way they treat their guests and prepare their dishes. The Brazilian BBQ was outstanding, authentic, and full of flavor. I had so many expectations for this place because of the yelp reviews. When I ordered it was pretty great service up until it took it over 45 minutes to get my order. When I went to ask they told me they accidentally gave it to someone else and started making mine. But he did give some free fries to make up for it so the customer service isn't too bad. Because of the wait, I was extreme hungry (hangry in a sense). Food usually taste better when you're extremely hungry, but even then the sandwich was not very good. It was very chewy and had a weird gamey aftertaste. The fries were seasoned pretty well just a bit salty. I've always liked watching YouTube videos about Brazilian food, especially Picanha. Naturally, when I saw that this was available in such close proximity to me, I had to stop. My eyes widened as I saw the magical word on this bright red food truck. My dream had finally come true. I chatted with the owner about all things Brazil for a few minutes, and he took time out to really educate me on his culture. He told me that I should order the Picanha, so I did. What I really liked about this place is that everything was made fresh to order. He was upfront about the short waiting time, and insisted upon the quality of his food. So I waited... And I was rewarded. The fries were amazing. The outside had a crisp, glass-like exterior, while the inside remained fluffy and soft. The seasoning was spectacular, and had a unique spice blend that set off fireworks in my palette. The Picanha was pretty good, even though it was cut off into thin strips and covered with sauce, which makes it more difficult to appreciate the natural steaky-ness of the meat. I first saw this truck at the Light Fest but they were just closing! Since that moment I was craving Picahna and like anyone that loves Brazilian BBQ knows the best cut is the Picahna. Look at the website and you are greeted by freshly grilled sirloin and a juicy/sizzling cut. I ordered and paid through Google Pickup and expected that the order was ready at the specified time. When we showed up, the man working said they don't make food until the patron is there. This makes sense if I didn't pay to prevent waste... but considering I paid already, this seemed silly. Since I thought I would be in and out I parked on the street and was greeted by a parking ticket on the way back. I don't blame the parking ticket on this place.. it just made the whole experience worse considering the whole situation. Look at the pick up time and the ticket time :(. When I got the food, the Picanha was overcooked and dry. Everything was WAY too salty. Would not come back and very disappointed. We were in downtown Austin playing with our dog at Lady Bird Lake when hungry strike so I asked them to go here, my husband was not particularly happy with the option as the weather was cold, well anyway we ended up going . I ordered picanha sandwiches and not remember what my sister in law ordered but at the end my husband was so happy he followed my lead. They sprinkled a bit of spices on it which gave it a nice flavour and kick (reminded me of the same fries you would get at a Mediterranean place). Now to the main part of the dish. The pork tenderloin was of really good quality and the flavor was decent. I just wish I had a lot more of it. The middle was quite bland. The picanha sandwich was insanely delicious. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had upon first bite

Had the pichana sandwich at trail of lights. It was really dissapointing. The meat was not great quality. Pretty mushy. Felt boiled. Swamped in mayo sauce. Just completely killed the taste of the steak. Had no seasoning to save its life. The bread was good. Overall the sandwich was edible but paying too much and if it is supposedly pichana, it's just a waste of the meat and cut the way it's served. Fries were the the best thing on the plate and that shouldn't be the case. Food took forever too and I was the only one in line. I would recommend that they season the meat, grill it, and place it on the sandwich and add the sauce on the side and probably forego it all together. Mcdonalds or any other meat sandwich would just be better use for your money and palate. Definitely not like Chama gaucha or fogo de chao in a bun which i was expecting. The meat was less seasoned than the fries, 1/4 of the meat is just fat, and it tastes cheap. I mean just take a look at the picture showed on the menu vs what I got.
