Service was quick, food was hot and fresh. Wish there was just a few more drink options like lemonade, something aside from soda and tea. There is seating, it is a small dinning area though. This small, no-frills storefront offers a fairly-priced, tastey, hot sammich on soft, fresh-baked bread that serves as an appropriate homage to this Philly streetfood staple. I had the small (8") original with no sides. It was the perfect size for me, and satiated my appetite. But if I'd been hungrier, I would have totally added some onion rings. Maybe next time. Doing some work in the area. Thought i'd try it. I ordered the# 4 combo & added marinara (.75cent add on) server did not mention this at POS. Also not disclosed (nor posted anywhere visible to customers is the credit card surcharge. This charge is also not clearly itemized on the receipt. All of which has to be clearly provided. Not much money but a matter of principle. When the sandwich arrived it was hot and fresh. It was ok. Not a "traditional" Philly Cheese Steak. Here they use mozzarella. If you've ever been to Philly you know what i'm sayin. Small dining area, limited beverages available. Friendly staff. If i'm in the area again I might try another type of sandwich without the frozen fries. But this is not a destination place for me. read more

I cannot believe I have eaten such a delicacy. I'm pregnant and hungry and I would choose this place 10 times in one day, if I could. I got the pizza cheesesteak and it was one of the best cheeseteaks I have ever had. The flavor goes so well together, the bread is heaven, and the curly fries slap. If I could give this place a 10/10, I would. I ate it for lunch - gonna eat it for dinner. The service was real fast, too! U can see the cooks in the background making everything fresh. Native Texan who now lives out of state. We were finishing up our Thanksgiving week in Texas trying to pick between staples Whataburger or Schlotzsky's on the way to Austin airport. But found this place on Yelp. Good call! Wife and I had pizza sandwich and authentic with a large curly fry. All very good. Frankly much better than the other choice for probably the same price. Our 2nd time here and will keep coming back very consistent and pack of flavors and full of meat I mean just look at the photo you need a fork and plenty of napkins I got the authentic Cheesesteak combo it has mushroom, onion, green pepper so tasty reminds me of PA street cart style sandwich, curly fries are the BEST!!! Decided to pick up an 10inch #4. The authentic with mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. The dining room is tiny with about 4 or 5 tables. There is an order window. Simple menu. You can see the kitchen and the Hispanic ladies back there had the place smelling fantastic. There was one order in front of me and mine only took about 10 minutes at most. I got the 10in philly upgraded to curly fries and added the cheese sauce and a drink. Total was just under $17. A little steep, but I did go for the extras. My sandwich looked as amazing as it tasted. Soft chewy bread. Delicious, well cooked and seasoned meat. Perfectly cooked fresh veggies. Just heavenly! Really. A great, great sandwich. The curly fries were tasty, and just the perfect crispy. Maybe a little skimpy on the amount, but satisfactory. My only issue overall, is that they are advertising a 2oz cheese sauce, but are only using a 1oz container. Delicious cheese sauce, but false advertising is terrible. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe they were out of 2oz containers. Even so. I was told nothing and allowed to pay for what turned out to be half the product. 1 star off for that. read more

I have been here a few times now. The food tastes pretty good. I grew up in Philly so I know what a cheesesteak is supposed to taste like. They season the meat well and have many options. I like to get the Philly with Queso as it adds a bit of kick to it. The place is pretty small and parking can be a challenge sometimes. I was going to give it 4 stars. Cause of the condensed seating but changed my mind. The ladies behind the counter have always been very nice. The food comes hour hot and tastes great so five stars for now! read more

This restaurant doesn't have a big sign on its door and actually blends in with the other places of business, but let me tell you, the food is amazing!! The restaurant isn't very big but you can always do take out lol I've tried almost everything on their menu, and everything is delicious! I totally recommend it! This place is hidden. So hidden, in fact, that we lived a quarter mile away for over a year before we ever noticed it. Now that I've gone there I'm filled with regret at the time lost where I could have been enjoying delicious cheesesteaks from this great little neighborhood place. We ordered to go. I got the pizza cheesesteak and husband got the classic and we both shared. Both were delicious! The bread was fresh, the ingredients were flavorful and the fries were hot! Quite the pleasant surprise. I decided I wanted an early dinner in Bastrop and since I was looking for something that I don't normally have, this came up as an option. Here's the one negative. The place is super spartan inside and borders on sterile. That's the ONLY bad thing about this place. I came in and ordered a pizza cheesesteak (minus onions) with fries and iced tea. The pizza cheesesteak came out perfectly. The bread and steak were on point. More amazingly, the cheese was melted in a way so as to keep the sandwich together. The pepperoni added great flavor without grease. And while the marinara sauce was lightly applied, you could taste that the steak had been cooked in the sauce rather than just added as a topping. The real shock was eating a cheesesteak that 1) didn't fall apart and 2) wasn't a greasy mess. The crinkle cut fries and the iced tea (with fresh lemon, no less) went great with the sandwich. It's clear this place is family owned and operated. The friendly staff quickly prepares orders as requested and they take a ton of pride in running a clean establishment. Definitely a hidden gem. read more

I almost hate you give this place five stars as I don't want everybody to know how good it is! My husband had the original Philly cheesesteak and I had a grilled chicken salad. Both were awesome! Good flavor, tender, juicy and a nice portion. Looks like a family runs it. Nice people. Appeared to be mostly locals eating there and that says a lot. You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.

They are no longer using the door facing the street so if you've ever been there, be sure and drive around the back now. This gives them much more room inside for more tables. They have redone the bar area and it looks very elegant when you walk in. This was our first visit there and we were glad that the manager came to our table to explain the menu to us. It can get a little confusing. They started out by bringing french fries and some fried strips of potatoes to our table. After our drinks came, they came to take our order. You can get the feast, which includes the salad bar and all of the meats they bring around to your table. Or you can just get the salad bar for a lot cheaper, and there are more than enough items on there for a full dinner, just not the meat selection. The drink I ordered was a strawberry caipirinha and it was delicious. You start out with the salad bar which is really a little misleading because there's way more on there than your typical salad bar. When you are finished with the salad bar, you turn the little card they give you to the green side up and they start coming around to your table with the different variety of meats. Some of them I liked, some of them not as much, but that's the fun thing about it - getting to try all of the different flavors. The servers were all friendly but I did have a hard time understanding some of them when they were telling me which type of meat they were serving. The place was packed and there was quite a line when we left so I highly recommend having a reservation, especially on the weekends. It is fairly pricey but worth it for a nice night out.
