GETTING HERE: Yelp has the address correct; navigate here and you will come right to this restaurant. It's next-door/diagonal to a relatively large Chevron. REVIEW: This review is a little challenging. It was easily a two star experience that I'm rounding up to three stars for the hustle from our server. At the time we arrived at the Denny's it was absolutely packed: typical feel and vibe of Denny's, #amirite I only saw two employees out on the floor who were trying to manage an entire restaurant full of customers. For what it's worth they were hustling and it showed. So I needed to acknowledge that here. The food is another story entirely. My guest enjoyed their breakfast; the eggs were delicious although they were a little tiny bit runny (ordered over-medium). I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy and they were beyond terrible. It had three pieces of a chopped up sausage link within the gravy, and the biscuits were tough and old. I had no choice but to send it back. Other than that, it was a good enough experience as we were just hungry and on our way to Vegas. I would just keep an eye out on how busy it is if you're on a relative time crunch.

Stopped here on the way to Vegas and had a great experience. Alberto was a true gentleman. He provided above and beyond service. The food was yummy and came out very fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looked like any other denny's, the dining room was nice and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If i'm ever out here again I hope to reunite with Alberto :)

This morning, we were on the road earlier than usual, so I called at 7:46 AM hoping to place an order for pickup at 8:00 AM when they opened. The employee who answered sounded annoyed and immediately told me I had to call back at 8:00 AM to place the order. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand policies and operating procedures. However, if staff are already in the building answering the phone, taking an order a few minutes early for pickup after opening seems like a simple way to provide good customer service and retain loyal customers. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. In today's economy, customer service and repeat business matter. Because of the experience, I chose not to stop, didn't charge my Tesla there as planned, and took my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate because this was a place I regularly visited and recommended during my trips.

Originally built in the 1950s, the current owners reopened it in 1981 and have preserved much of its original charm and character. The original diner, with just three booths and nine counter stools, is still part of the restaurant, though it has since expanded to include several dining rooms and a souvenir shop. The menu focuses on classic diner fare and comfort food. Our breakfast came out quickly and the portions were just right. Our favorite part of the stop was discovering the dinosaur park behind the building. It's surrounded by a moat that feeds into ponds filled with turtles of all sizes. The kids counted at least 50 of them, and we ended up staying for a good half hour enjoying the scene. It turned what could have been a quick meal into one of the most memorable rest stops on our six-hour drive from San Diego to Las Vegas. In a world of cookie-cutter rest stops and chain restaurants, Peggy Sue's is the kind of place that makes the drive a little more fun and gives you something to remember long after you're back on the road.

Well, we never did until today. The place has that 1950's charm complete with checkered floors, and a yellow brick road. It was absolutely packed, and they still managed to get our food to us quickly with flawless service. I ordered the two eggs with sourdough toast, and hash browns. The eggs were scrambled to a light and fluffy consistency, and the hash browns were golden brown outside with a soft interior. Not to mention my mug of coffee was never empty. I also ordered the strawberry rhubarb pie "à la mode" and it was yummy. I'll describe it as the ultimate sweet, tart dessert that reminded me of a strawberry milk shake. The jammy sweetness of ripe strawberries was perfectly balanced with the buttery crust and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was the cherry on top to my breakfast. I will definitely make it a habit to visit this place when i drive to Vegas. It was well worth the stop.

It was a Saturday morning around 9:30ish and was surprised it wasn't that busy. We found a booth and saw we had to scan a QR code for the menu. OK, I admit, I hate that. Then they had instructions to download the app to place your order. I assume this was put in place for COVID. Finally, a waitress came over and said she'll take our order. Thank goodness! I ordered French Toast with sausage patties, which I totally prefer over links but it's so rare to find them on the menu, and my partner had a breakfast burrito. The food arrived fairly quick and it was perfect. I'm not into fancy breakfast foods so keep is simple and I'm happy. The breakfast burrito was HUGE and my partner wasn't able to finish it. The entire breakfast with coffee was about $40, which I felt was very reasonable by today's standards. We both mentioned how we recently went to famous SoCal fast food hamburger joint (not In-and-Out) and it was $30 for 2 people, and not as good. Our service was super friendly, and we felt welcome there. Along with good food, this might be our regular breakfast stop when driving to Vegas.

(4.25 STARS)…read more Memorial Day road trips always seem to create the best random discoveries, and Pit Stop Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.
