Lunch break- mini roast beef, provolone with lettuce and little mayo.
Gail U.

So glad they have 3 sizes of sandwiches. I chose a mini roast beef and provolone. Unlike competitor they didn't ask if I wanted it toasted. It was fine cuz the bread was crunchy crusty and tasted fresh. I just wanted lettuce and plain mayo. I added some baked potato chips in my sandwich for added crunch. It hit the spot. I shared some tiny bits of roast beef with the birthday grandpup. She actually smiled at me and moved closer for more. Why missing a star? I'm glad they had a few outdoor tables but it was littered . The women's restroom floors were totally wet in the stalls and by the sink. It was good they had soap and paper towels. There was the same male employee emptying the trash outside and also called out as he had toilet paper rolls to restock and a bucket of water. Glad it didn't smell. The agave vanilla crème soda was delicious.

Was a little pricey when I first walked in which I was expecting since it's relatively healthy compared to other options in the area. But the prices are so silly I don't think I'd eat at this Jersey mikes again. I ordered the regular tuna sandwich and asked to add cheese. The girl said cheese is an extra charge is that okay? I said yes. I should've asked how much since they charged me $4 just for cheese...yikes. I feel she should've said cheese is $4 are you ok with that instead of being so vague with the price. I was on a road trip tired and hungry and I feel they definitely took advantage of that. There are better ways to do business. Not cool.

This location is inside a Shell gas station. Even though the name is not new to me, this was my first time trying this sandwich chain. I actually enjoyed it. We tried their #13 Original Italian (cold sub) on wheat - my favorite. Their #14 The Veggie but asked for this to be made into a hot sub which they gladly did. The #17 Philly Cheesesteak (hot) is delicious. You can pick from 3 sizes - mini, regular, or giant. If it tickles your fancy... get your sandwich sprayed with "the juice" which is their original blend of red wine vinegar & olive oil. It just makes everything 100x tastier. A little slow on the service. No inside seating but there are patio sets outside that they share with Dairy Queen but it was too cold that day so we just ate it in the car.

I don't know what is the big deal about these sandwiches? They are marginally ok. This is my third visit and I'm not impressed.

The food was up to par but the service was most definitely lacking. It probably wouldn't be that bad but there's no where to sit.

The Mad Greek - Beef and Lamb Gyro

We had been on the road for a few hours and wanted to get something to eat! The last time I visited the Mad Greek was about 20 years ago, on my way to Anaheim to visit the ADP HQ. It was good back then, and the food is still great! As soon as you walk inside the restaurant, you'll notice how spacious it is. There was table seating inside the restaurant in various locations. There is now self service kiosks where you can place your order, but there was also a team member at the register taking orders too. Their menu has changed though since I last visited. There are a lot more options you can choose from such as Breakfast items: Burritos, quesadillas and more! Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers Sandwiches (Patty Melt, BLT, Grilled cheese..) Salads Milkshakes and so much more! We decided to try the following Beef & Lamb Gyro Meal Combo - Rice/Drink Chicken Souviaki - with hummus, no tomatoes and with Feta Fries/Drink. The team member provided us with a buzzer which would let us know when the meal was ready. It was beautiful weather outside, around 80, so we ended up waiting outside at a table while our meal was getting prepared! We didn't wait too long either, about 10 minutes for the meal. It was pretty quick! My Chicken Souviaki included two skewers with lettuce and onions. The hummus was in a cup, so I was able to add as much of the hummus to the wrap as I needed. The hummus was more like a thin sauce though. It was still yummy! The chicken was quite flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the wrap. The Feta Fries though were super scrumptious! There was so much feta cheese on the Fries! I ended up dipping the French Fries into the hummus sauce! The French Fries were crunchy and just perfect! My husband and I ended up splitting the Feta Fries. I also had a chance to try out the rice, which was good, but I did like the Feta Fries better. We spent less than 30 minutes inside the restaurant, and then was back on the road to Las Vegas! The team members were helpful and friendly. The food was great. This would be my go to spot if I am looking for a quick meal at Bakersfield again!

The strawberry shake IS GOOD and they have some other shake options which I think would also be good as well. We did try the date and it was also very good. Other notable mentions are the fries/feta fries/ fried zucchini. Solid options with that dilly tzatziki sauce for dipping. The gyros however left much to be desired and prices are a little steep. Fast and friendly service as well.

This is the home to the world's largest thermometer and Alien Fresh Jerky. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have driven past this place but never stopped. Now, I like aliens just as much as the next guy, but it was one of those places that I really had no reason to top of. But let me tell you, I am so glad that I did. In addition to having probably the largest selection of beef jerky next to buc-ee's, this place has more alien stuff than you can shake a stick at. Honestly, this place really does look like it belong on the Vegas strip with its big LED signs and alien motif all throughout the exterior. Additionally, they are in the process of building a UFO hotel. I'm going to tell you this. I will be there as one of the first guests in line when this thing opens up. Let's talk about the jerky for a second, they're not kidding when they say it's fresh. I have purchased multiple bags here on multiple occasions, and I got to tell you this is some of the best beef jerky you can ask for. It's super tasty, and not like that really nasty hard stuff you buy out of gas station convenience store, this stuff really is fresh. I don't know how to quantify alien fresh, but this jerky iis probably some of the best I've ever had. Tons of different flavors and heat levels for every person's taste. Bottom line? This place Is definitely the place to stop when you're out on the road going to or from Las Vegas from Orange county. Honestly, It's a perfect pit stop.

There's a few alien photo ops, and a lot of the merch and snacks inside are alien-themed. They also have a nice selection of hot sauces. We tried some kettlecorn and some jerky.
