When it was time to order, she made her way around the table and made sure to write orders down and she confirmed with each of us before submitting the ticket to the kitchen. My meal was the one that came with eggs and chicken sausage and then I chose grits as my side and this meal came with pancakes. My lunch selection was a slice of their homemade chicken pot pie, freshly made crust and large bites of chicken inside, topped with a cheese covered crust. It was fresh & delicious! For a side I had a large serving of curly fries, doubt they were made in house, but they were good! My wife eats largely plant based, and ordered a quiche... she may not have read the description of it closely, but as she took her first bite, she discovered it had bacon on it. Rather than send it back, she chose to eat around the bacon. I took a couple of bites and thought it was pretty tasty as well. She had a fresh fruit cup as her side, and it was just that: fresh fruit. The Blue Owl is known for their fresh bakery and after perusing their cake/pie menu, we decided on a lightly frosted carrot cake, but at a $52 price point, we thought it was pretty pricey and instead opted for 2 take-home slices ($7 each slice) to savor later today. Maybe it's holiday pricing, or maybe carrots have been subjected to the tariffs, but $52 for a store bought ( no matter how fresh) cake seemed a bit high. All in all, a delightful experience. The food was delicious and our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend The Blue Owl Restaurant & Bakery in Kimswick, MO!
