It's Christmas Day, I dont have anywhere to go, it's freezing cold outside, so I decided to go get coffee and breakfast, everything online said they were open, I walked 3 miles. When i got there, I was met by an young girl who very really informed me that they were only doing carry out in online orders. I said okay I can't eat here can I make a carryout order? She told me I have to place an online order. Mine you, there are about 10 tables eating food, and the kitchen is clearly making orders. I tried to order online, it said unavailable until midnight you have to go into the store . I just wanted to get some coffee and stay warm. While I was outside several cars preceded to pull up and then they got out they were told it was online and Carry out only. They did not inform them that they could not do online or carry out.

The french toast didn't taste like it was even dipped in egg batter. I was really in the mood for french toast and bummed me out.

Open 24/7. French toast is awesome. Grand slam is great value. Their nachos are hit or miss. Overall, a good place to eat.

But other than that that's the only complaint that I have. Friendly staff, amazing food and drink. I love the lotus crepe as well as the barbecue chicken, I have to admit I could eat one of those about every single day of my life. I loved the banana bread espresso. There's four shots in it so just FYI. Maybe don't drink it after 5:00 p.m. like I did but it was still worth it. The ambiance of this place is absolutely adorable with a rich emerald colored green chair and couch with nice cognac colored armchairs, and a nice fireplace at the head of the cafe gives a cozy and warm ambiance as well as the beautiful Christmas decorations that they had while I was there made it a place that a lot of people wanted to hang out. There were at least six other tables with friends and family just chatting which honestly led to a really nice sense of community which a lot of places in America don't have. And I found this place to be absolutely lovely and worth every penny. A true gem to Oakville!

The group I went with called ahead and managed to reserve a few tables for the 15 of us who were dining together. It was a little (or a large) holiday brunch and while we could not all sit together, they still managed to get us a few tables near each other so that we could mingle as needed. Our server was Nikki and she was a delight! She managed our orders and kept up with the food and drinks like a champ! Taking orders for a large group is never easy, especially when people keep moving around and new people join, but Nikki did it with ease. When I arrived, she offered me some coffee and made sure to keep it filled throughout the morning. She provided creamer options and made sure I was good with water since that's all I asked for. When it was time to order, she made her way around the table and made sure to write orders down and she confirmed with each of us before submitting the ticket to the kitchen. When the food came out, everything looked so good and the plates were filled with delicious food. I was so happy for my cheese grits and the traditional buttermilk pancakes. My meal was the one that came with eggs and chicken sausage and then I chose grits as my side and this meal came with pancakes. I didn't realize it would come with so many of them, but I was thrilled to see the stack! The food was really good and the pancakes were fluffy and so tasty. I would def get them again. Nikke was able to separate our checks and again, I applaud her ability to keep things straight since there were lots of us and so many food/drink options to organize, but she did a great job! We all paid our tabs and were on our way after only being in there for an hour and twenty minutes. It was a well serviced brunch and we were all very happy and full when we left. I will be back again soon!

Despite living in STL for over 30 years and having visited Kimswick many times for their various "festivals", we'd never eaten at the Blue Owl, since the place is usually packed. This morning was no different, but to our great surprise, they got us a table for 2 right away. We were seated just after 11 am, which was unfortunately too late for their breakfast menu, so lunch it was! We started with 2 cups of freshly brewed coffee . My lunch selection was a slice of their homemade chicken pot pie, freshly made crust and large bites of chicken inside, topped with a cheese covered crust. It was fresh & delicious! For a side I had a large serving of curly fries, doubt they were made in house, but they were good! My wife eats largely plant based, and ordered a quiche... she may not have read the description of it closely, but as she took her first bite, she discovered it had bacon on it. Rather than send it back, she chose to eat around the bacon. I took a couple of bites and thought it was pretty tasty as well. She had a fresh fruit cup as her side, and it was just that: fresh fruit. The Blue Owl is known for their fresh bakery and after perusing their cake/pie menu, we decided on a lightly frosted carrot cake, but at a $52 price point, we thought it was pretty pricey and instead opted for 2 take-home slices ($7 each slice) to savor later today. Maybe it's holiday pricing, or maybe carrots have been subjected to the tariffs, but $52 for a store bought ( no matter how fresh) cake seemed a bit high. All in all, a delightful experience. The food was delicious and our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend The Blue Owl Restaurant & Bakery in Kimswick, MO!
