Time for a Brunch Review! First I must say that bad reviews should be read, but in nearly all of them I have read, should be ignored. This is a restaurant. All restaurants have bad days and that must be taken into account. Now, for a GOOD review: The service is great! Our hostess, Taylor, was very pleasant and sat us right away in a good spot. She made sure that our server was with us almost immediately. Thanks, Taylor! Our server, Coleen, was very nice and informative. She checked with us just often enough to be attentive and genuinely concerned about our food and our enjoyment of it. Thanks, Colleen! My wife ordered the Windsor French Toast, which had fresh strawberries and blueberries with a sweet and yummy cheese spread on top. The perfect brunch dish! I got the fried Catfish and Fries - I'm from the South ( the Carolinas ) and we sometimes have catfish for breakfast, so this was my brunch item. The catfish was AWESOME! Very mild and tasty breading. I'm not usually a big fan of Tartar Sauce, but once I tried it, I had to put a little on every bite. The fries were some of the best I have ever had! Crispy coated and tasted like they were deep fried in butter!! Ask your server how they do this ;) - The ambiance is fantastic! A bit close quartered in some spots, but there is a lot of alternative seating, so you can be comfortable. The outdoor seating is really nice. I love this place. I highly recommend it. Service was chaos. There were 8 tables of customers at 10:30. 2 were eating when we arrived. The other 5 arrived after us. Two waitress one busser CONSTANT screaming coming from the kitchen. They require you to be seated BUT then say. Sit wherever you want We waited 47 minutes for our breakfast. No one was eating and no carry out orders going out. We dined here today, a Thursday around 11:30am. We were seated and they were only about two other tables filled. Service was not great to say the least. Our server was Kelly and she seemed very overwhelmed by the two tables she had. When we asked her if there's any gluten in the shrimp and grits, she went in the back to ask, then came back and said we have no idea, you'll have to Google it. Like clearly, we know that most shrimp and grits don't contain gluten, but every restaurant adds different things and they should have a list of their ingredients for everything they serve. Anyway, this did not set the tone very well. We shared the cheesy shrimp and grits. They were extremely underwhelming basically instant grits with a little cheddar cheese on top, but the shrimp was well cooked. We also shared the steak and eggs, and I was very impressed the steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare, and season well. The potatoes were lackluster. We also shared a BYO omelette that was mediocre. The butter on the toast had a funny taste to it. I think it was maybe margarine. SO had a gluten-free pancake and reported that it was chalky, undercooked on the underside, and bland. There was no ambient music. The chairs and benches aren't comfortable at all. This isn't in our neighborhood, but the food is worth the drive. Everything we've had has been delicious, servers are friendly and attentive, and the café is always clean and well maintained. I came back again and had a nice meal and the service was excellent again. I travel a lot for work and when you have a good waitress it makes all the difference. We have enjoyed dining here, but today was different. In the past, the service has always been good and the food is delicious. Today, however, we never got our food after waiting 45 minutes. This normally wouldn't be a problem if they're really busy. People were coming in after us, getting their orders taken and receiving their food long after we ordered. We sat with our coffee & juice and our server never came back to offer a coffee warm up or to let us know that our food is coming up. We ordered our drinks, received them, and then NOTHING for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, everyone who came in long after we ordered, were paying their checks and leaving. This has never happened to us at this restaurant. We finally gave up and left after paying for our drinks at the front counter. They were busy, but not crowded. I understand that kitchens get backed up. I know its a tough job being a server. Im not sure where the problem was, but its very sad. Maybe they lost our ticket. On Saturday we tried at Sunrise for the first time. The food we had was delicious!! Our waitress was very good at recommending dishes. My husband is glad she recommended the pineapple upside down pancakes!! They were amazing!! The biscuits and gravy were also wonderful, could have used a bit more spice to them, but great nonetheless. I wanted hot chocolate but they were out at 10 am. Not sure how that happens. We'll be back to try something else that's for sure. We were hoping they had booths, but they didn't. The chairs could use some cushions. All in all it was a good experience. The reason behind my rating mainly revolves around the price. While it was decent and tasted good, it was not worth the tag. It was $50 for me and my boyfriend to eat there. I would much rather go somewhere like a Waffle House or McDonald's for breakfast. This place wasn't $50 good lol. Also, the bacon was super chewy and hard to swallow. Not a dealbreaker but just felt I should add it. The waiter who served us was nice but it took us a while to get our food when we were the only party in the restaurant. Mind you 7 tables inside and another 5 outside were sitting empty. So instead of seating you and letting you know it might be longer because kitchen is behind. They want you to stand and wait or just leave. People behind us also left and said they have never been talked to so rudely at a restaurant. read more

We have driven past this restaurant many times, but this morning was our first visit there for a brunch. The restaurant itself was clean and we were greeted politely upon entering before choosing our seat. Being a place which particularly specializes in morning foods, I was disappointed to see a classic Eggs Benedict missing from the menu; though to my surprise the owner of the establishment made an appearance (Ms Secil) and advised this would be an option moving forward. Ms. Secil engaged us in conversation and regaled us with her far ranging accomplishments of many sorts- she is very clearly a possessor of an entrepreneurial spirit. We were told all of their food is prepared fresh from scratch, including their fresh biscuits, and I did find the taste to be very good. The kids portions of the pancake breakfast was generous and served with fresh squeezed OJ, though the French toast in comparison was on the lighter side. We'd go with pancakes all around for the kids in the future. The decor of the place is sunny and upbeat, I'm told the women's bathroom was especially well equipped and particularly so for kids access. The service was exceptional, with Ashley being a wonderful and attentive ambassador for the business. The cost for us to have a filling breakfast at Bob Evans is usually $60-$70 out the door, though here was close about $100.00. While it was on the pricier side, it's not a corporate place and the experience was definitely more personalized. We liked "At Sunrise," and will likely go again as finances allow. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! we've been there before with horrible service and decided to try 1 more time. HUGE MISTAKE. customer service is atrocious. They have MULTIPLE tables open and refused to seat our family of five and told us it would be 5 minutes. We gave them 15. This place is not worth visiting., the seating is horrible, you are sitting on cheap wood chairs and plywood benches. The walls & benches are all dirty from hands and feet being all over them..The food.. well it was almost 45 bucks for two. The pancakes weren't good. The syrup bottle while it looks cute took about 7 minutes to get enough syrup to be good enough. Portions are small, and being 10AM it was not crowded in there, that's a sign n its own. Well, we wanted to take a short drive from St. Louis for breakfast so we checked this place out and we're glad we did! The Sunrise burger was good and Sympony, our server, was friendly and so helpful! My husband had biscuits and gravy and he loved them. I ordered the Sunrise Burger without the bun and the guacamole and sauce came on the side, which was perfect for me because I do like to control how much sauce I'm getting! They do have a nice patio section right outside the restaurant for days when the weather permits outside dining. We've been here a couple times for breakfast. The service is always fast and friendly. When it finally arrived I bit into one of those fried green tomatoes and it was RED (see pictures)! For those that don't know - the flavor and consistency are not the same... First off, I felt bad for the waitress having to deliver this news because it is absolutely bs. But okay, here we are. She offered to swap it out for something else, I passed. I thought that handling was well done, though frankly I wish they would have just advised they didn't have it before I waited so long for it and got my hopes up. My second time here! I love local owned places by people who live here. This place did not disappoint. Sorry no photos at it to fast! I got the slinger and it was delicious! Home fries with chili, cheese, egg with your choice of meat inside. Came out hot and the flavors blended well. The chili was good and will appeal to almost any chili fan who enjoys beans. Also had was the hot honey wings, got a serious god! These are delicious out of the eater. He also got the chicken and waffles, was a little disappointed it was bone in chicken wings. Another eater got the crab cake Benedict. She cleaned her plate so I'm assuming it was good :p. The coolest thing there though was their fresh squeezed OJ machine! We have our men's Bible study here every Saturday morning (about 10 of us). The guys "break down the door" right at the opening bell. Coffee (reg. & decaf) and glasses of water hit the table almost before everyone gets seated. I have had multiple selections from the menu and it seems each one is best (at the time). The Snazzy Bacon particularly is outstanding. Service is exceptional for 10+ people. Although Patrick is the best ever server, all the staff are pleasant and upbeat. The atmosphere is pretty chill and laid back. Live music definitely was relaxing. It added a nice touch. The food was amazing! I had the fried green tomatoes and BLT. They both were pretty amazing. I loved that the owner was active in the process from beginning to end. The bathrooms were clean, so that was a huge plus. The restaurant in general was pretty clean and well organized.
