This was a cute little coffee shop in Waterloo, IL recommended by a fellow foodie. I am not a coffee drinker so it was nice to see they had some non-espresso based drinks like matcha, chai tea, etc. they also had a nice selection of pastry items although the muffin I had was not all that great. It seem a little old, it was dry and not very flavorful, so skip the muffins. It was a nice place to sit and work, relax or enjoy nice conversation with a friend. They do have some lunch options, but I only attended here for a quick meeting. The staff was pleasant and friendly and the space was open, spacious and neat and clean. I would definitely go back if I was in the area, but I would skip the muffins.

High recommend checking out Salt + Honey if you're in the area. The Town and Country lemonade and biscuit sandwich with jam is the perfect way to start the day. They have a beautiful event space, seating area and cozy children's play area. The service has been impeccable during every visit and every employee we've ever encountered has gone out of their way to welcome us, collect our dishes, or recommend a menu item. This place is great to grab and go or stay and enjoy the beautiful space. Tip: Even if they look packed from the outside, don't be alarmed as the food and drinks come out quickly.

Stopped into Salt & Honey for a quick lunch. Sandwiches & soup for the cold day win! The chick, chicken salad on croissant was good. I like my chickie salad a little more creamy, but the flavors were good. Chicken noodle soup was good, I'd be interested to know if it's homemade. The other sandwich was "the stinger". Roast beef, provolone, banana peppers & horse radish sauce. He said it was pretty good. Said he would've liked a little more meat. You know growing boys and all. Over all, this place is adorable and a great addition to the booming Waterloo restaurants and Main Street. Definitely recommend.

Coffee? Perfect. Salt + Honey Board? Delicious! Advertised to feed 6-8? I'd have to argue that. It was VERY good though. The service was good and the ambiance was fantastic. Lovely place.

I got ghosted.

This place gets a little better each time I stop in. Relaxed morning vibe. Expanded breakfast menu and bakery items. They are now offering fall drink options. You can even get ghosted for $1.

I thought the food was pretty good. not the best, not the worst cafe food i've had! Service was okay, the coffee machines were very loud so it was hard to hear the cashier. Ambiance is very cute, great wifi cafe to get some work done in for sure!

They sell merch!

This is the perfect little cozy coffee brunch joint! When you walk in you are greeted with acoustic music and the smell of fresh brewed coffee. You order at the counter and then seat where you like. They will bring your order to you. We ordered a few items and theg were all tasty! Check this place out if you are near by!

Bear claw is excellent and they even warm it up for you.

There is literally nothing I have tried at Zera that I have not loved. My go to is the avocado bagel, sometimes switching to the pickle cream cheese on it & no exaggeration, I look forward to it all week. The baked goods are also insanely good. My recommendations are the cruffins, danishes, quiche, and cinnamon rolls. Alongside the food, having a coffee there is an absolute must. My usual is a 100 Acre Woods Latte with Oatmilk but I have to stray from that for seasonal drinks every now and then & this year, the Gingerbread General took the cake on my favorite holiday drink! On top of such great food and drinks, the staff is the downright kindest you'll ever meet and they work so insanely hard! Zera is truly the loveliest spot in Waterloo and I cannot recommend it enough! When you visit, take in the gorgeous details of the space and pop into the cozy vault with a friend! P.S. They just now started selling their granola in bags and it's a must buy! It's 100x better than any granola you can buy at the store!

We had high hopes for Cafe on the Abbey, but our visit was not a pleasant one. Based on other…read morereviews it may be an anomaly? So perhaps we'll visit again, however, if there weren't so many positive reviews we would never go back. Our coffee flight was probably the worst we've ever had. They were supposed to be iced but came out lukewarm and burnt tasting. We couldn't taste a difference in any of the flavors-likely because it was so burnt tasting that's all we could taste. Neither of us liked our food. My husband's pancakes were dry and he said they tasted like they had been microwaved. My healthy bowl tasted like mostly old/not fresh ingredients. The Brussel sprouts were supposed to be shaved, but were instead halved and appeared/tasted like they were from the prior day. The Parmesan cheese was also prepackaged and not freshly grated, and for the price we paid ($50+) we didn't expect to be served food low-quality food. The only picture I took was of our coffee. Our server did the bare minimum. They weren't rude, but also weren't friendly. We ran out of Cholula sauce and she grabbed one from another table with people sitting there. Overall a very poor experience. Based completely on this one experience we would never return.

It had been a while, so we couldn't remember if we should start at the counter, or grab a seat when we first walked in, but a server saw us right away and invited us to find any seat if we were eating in. Our server was attentive and we were able to pay from our table. The food was quick and good, and breakfast and lunch items were both available. We ordered the Stacked Eggs Benedict Omelette and the Pick-Four Omelette. Both came with fruit (grapes), and the "pick four" came with toast. My husband got a black coffee from the coffee bar (and one to go), and I went with the Gingerbread Cookie hot coffee drink. It even included a cute cookie man on top!
