Since moving to the area in September this has been one of my favorite little lunch spots to pop into if I have a week day off or even on a weekend if I'm out and about. I've tried several different menu items and cocktails and everything has always been on point. The service is always amazing and the atmosphere is great. A couple of times me and a girlfriend took a seat at the bar after eating and bar service is amazing too. If you haven't been in to 1860 then what are you waiting for?! read more

1st time visiting 1860 Public House in Red Bud was kinda lack luster but I always said I would give new places another try!!! We were in Red Bud at the IGA Meat Sale (which you should go next time they have it) and decided to stop in again On Sundays they serve a Brunch Menu!!! OMG so good!!! Highly recommend!!!! I had the Chicken and Waffles (I don't get waffles often but I do splurge when I go out). The Waffle was hot and soft and the chicken tenders were so good!! Drizzling some Syrup and butter on it.... So good My brother had the Breakfast Burger!!! Burger with bacon and egg. Then the hubby and sister in law had the BBLT which was good. The Sweet Potatoes Fries were probably the best I ate. Everything on the menu is delicious and flavorful. The best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten anywhere. The turkey wrap was delicious and fresh. The southwest wrap- best thing I've eaten in a long time. The toasted ravioli- you must order! The fish sandwich- don't say no. One of my favorite restaurants of anywhere I've traveled. Decent restaurant in downtown Red Bud. The prices are quite good. My 8 oz sirloin with broccoli and sweet potato fries was $16.50, which is quite reasonable. Flavor was solid all around, though the fries could've been hotter. Major drawback here was the service. I called 3x to see how busy they were, and no one picked up. So we drove over, got seated right away, and ... waited. It took 15-20 min for the waitress to come. Obviously, this was less than ideal. Fortunately, the food didn't take that long to reach our table, after we placed our order. Overall, it was a mixed experience. So, three stars. read more

The food was delicious. Our problem was with our server. We were told upon our arrival for our 4pm reservation that the room we were dining in was also reserved for 6pm. It made us feel like we had to rush eating because it did take some time to get drinks. When our food arrived and we were eating, she came back in and put all of our bills next to our silverware and we were not even a third of the way into our meal! It was unspoken rudeness. But we still shared the birthday cake we brought to celebrate with her. It was just a downer to be rushed and given our bills 5 bites into meal service. Again great food tho. read more

Went to 1860 to try something new as the other restaurant we wanted to go to was closed greeted nice went to the bar asked what we wanted to drink. Received that and the and the lady /server/bartender asked I she could bring some rolls out. We were like sure this is our first time here got our food, which was four out of five because there was lumps in the potatoes, which made it a little dry when biting into them so I asked for butter for that and another butter for the broccoli. I also had salmon and I asked for tartar sauce. So then when we received our bill, we were charged $2.50 for three rolls which again we were asked if she could bring some out, we weren't asked or informed that would be like an appetizer or a charge. We just thought it was part of the meal. We were not told / informed there was a charge for butter nor the tarter sauce. I asked the server/bartender to come over to the table and I said we will not pay for the rolls. We weren't told there was a fee. We will not pay for butter. We will not pay for tartar sauce since we both had fish should come with it, so she takes the receipt over to the manager, lady I don't know who she was she did not say and She comes over to the table and she says she will take the tartar sauce off, but not the rolls & butter and I started to say if... And then she instantly said you will talk to me respectfully, and I replied, and you will talk to me respectfully... So I continued and said if we were told and inform that it cost for the rolls, we would've said no or yes, and we had no idea And she says it's in the menu again. This is our first time here at this place and we didn't have time to look at the menu. We were just asked if she could bring out some rolls for us so we said yes. And then she also said why haven't you been to restaurants where they charge you for extra things I said yes but they let us know there's an extra charge. I said I can give you one of the butters back if you want your butter back she said yes I would so I reached into the bag, with the containers we already put together in to go bag and I gave her one container of butter, so I don't know if she put it back in the rotation and gave it to another customer .. and after I remember, I don't think I have been charged for butter or tartar sauce, especially when we both had fish. I had a picture of the menu so wouldn't we left? I looked at it and it says a dollar/guest. I'm assuming that means a dollar per roll. If so, why were we given three there was only two of us and why were recharge $2.50 that makes no sense. The server/bartender should've clarified Since we were there for the first time and asked if we wanted any appetizers like rolls or something then we would've known it was a charge and we would've denied them. ... I rate the food a 4 outta 5 because of the lumps in the mashed potatoes. Otherwise, it was very good. The treatment we had at the end by this I don't even know who who she is lady and not listening to the customer very well and she needs to make it clear. Are there servers need to make it clear it cost for butter seriously. Quite disappointed again the food was rated for we would've come back, but we will not be back and we will let other people know of the treatment we received which was unprofessional and unacceptable! read more

Had a lunch and a dinner here. Food was good both times. Service was inconsistent. The larger group at dinner had good service. The smaller group at lunch was a disaster. After 35 minutes the food hadn't arrived, even though five tables that arrived after us had been served, eaten, and were leaving. I asked the server were our food was. She looked at the table and seemed surprised, said she'd check with the kitchen. Came back several minutes later, mumbled they were "waiting on ???" And disappeared. They use runners to bring the food out- but your server should still be keeping tabs on all their tables. 50 minutes after ordering we finally got food. Hope they make it because we really enjoyed the food and the remodel is nice. Fix the service issues and I think they can. read more

I ordered a steak which can always be a poor choice. I ordered it medium well and it was very very well done. Some of it almost too tough to eat. I also asked to substitute the steamed broccoli for applesauce. I got the broccoli. I didn't complain to the waitress as it was busy and it looked like she was having troubles with other tables. The other two with me had meals they enjoyed. I guess the moral is never order a steak unless others have praised it before. First visit last week. Worth our 35-40 minute drive from O'Fallon, IL. Nice menu. Absolutely LOVE the Bierkäsesuppe (Beer Cheese Soup)! Discerning connoisseurs from the northern tier, this soup is right there with the best! Wheelchair accessible. Like the separate ADA-compliant family/unisex single user restroom. Good service too. Our only disappointment - the only handicapped parking we could find, sufficient for car to wheelchair transfer, was 2 blocks away in a public parking lot to the NW. Street parking right there by the restaurant does not suffice. A pleasant eatery with loads of history and ambiance! We'll be back! read more
