Small, neighborhood shop, adjoined to a bakery, my guess is that it is the same ownership. This is…read moremore of a carryout deli has ever only a few small tables inside. You place your order at the counter. Ordered a build your own sandwich. Served on their fresh Dutch crunch bread, it was very tasty! Unfortunately, it was also quite expensive; with small bag of chips and a bottle of water + t&t, the price was $22.50!

I walked into Big Belly Deli yesterday on a mission: a wrap. Simple, right? Apparently not…read more After patiently waiting in line, I confidently ordered a chicken wrap... only to be told, "That's not on the menu." Pause. Confusion. Mild heartbreak. BUT then--plot twist. He leans in and says, "I can put one together for you... just trust me." And listen... that was the moment I decided to surrender control and embark on a culinary adventure. As he started listing what he had in mind, my skepticism quickly turned into straight-up anticipation. It already sounded incredible--but I HAD to chime in and add tomatoes and banana peppers (because balance, obviously). What I received for $13 was not just a wrap. It was a masterpiece. This thing was PACKED--like, no-such-thing-as-skimping levels of juicy, flavorful chicken. Every bite hit. Every ingredient showed up. No fillers, no regrets. Here's the real kicker: I ate half yesterday... and the other half today? Still. Fresh. Still. Delicious. Still. Worth it. Moral of the story: Sometimes the best thing on the menu... isn't on the menu. Big Belly Deli, I see you. And next time, I'm coming back ready to co-create another masterpiece

I've been through the area often on i55 but never seemed to be a time that they were open. I have,…read morehowever, had a lot of their quick sticks that they sell at local Rhodes convenience stores and they were delicious. Very similar to my favorite big brand, icon. So after seeing all the billboards on the interstate over the years I decided to stop in. I selected some brats, snack sticks that were refrigerated, unlike the quick sticks at the store and some jerky. Snack sticks were excellent and similar to a local butcher shop near my house, however the jerky was awful. Hard and tooth breaking, it also emitted some fat/lard after opening the bag. It may have just been a bad batch but not sure I would go back just based on that experience. I have yet to try the brats so will update if I think they bring the grade up. Friendly staff though! Will consider giving them another shot and hoping it was a bad jerky batch. Posting some pictures of the jerky and packaging. White stuff is all oozed out fat after I opened the package.

First, I love that this is a locally family owned and run Busines. We tried the Zach and the Meatball sandwich. The Zach was packed with turkey, cheese and pesto. The Meatball sandwich is honestly one of the Top 10 Meatball sandwiches in STL! It truly highlights the famous Vitale Sauce/Gravy recipe! One bit and you can feel the love and the time and effort it takes to simmer all day. Definitely will return soon!!

One Saturday I took my kids to Kirkwood park and decided to stop in at Vitale's on the way home. I'm so glad that I did! The shop isn't anything fancy, there is a counter inside and then a handful of tables outside. It is primarily a to go joint which is pretty standard for delis. It gives off the vibe that you should just stroll up from the neighborhood and grab something to eat, chat for a while with other locals, and then head home. It has a nice, no frills vibe that I really enjoyed. The sandwiches are pretty typical for an Italian Deli with most of them featuring variations of lunchmeat. I'm always a sucker for meatball sandwiches though so that is what I got with a side of chips. It was outstanding. The meatballs were GIANT and they were the right texture. It was large enough that I had to split it across two meals. The owner was really nice when I was inside and talked to both of my kids. My kids were so well behaved they convinced me to buy them a cannoli on the way out the door. Over this shop fills its niche well, the shop was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I'll be stopping back in again in the near future.
