There were plenty of street parking available and within walking distance from the restaurant. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately and brought to an elevator. We were seated on the second floor overlooking the streets. The place is beautifully decorated from what looked like repurposed doors. I'm not sure if the door looks were intentional or they truly were repurposed. Either way, they gave the restaurant characters. Our waitress stopped by shortly after we were seated and took our drink orders. After she brought us our drinks, we placed an order for some smoked prawn roll (jalapeño cream cheese mousse, red pepper jelly, fried wanton and cucumber). Delicious! Next came our entrée. I ordered the 16 oz cowboy ribeye, medium rare. The steaks are a la carte. I ordered a side of brown butter asparagus to go with my steak. They offer accouterment for the steaks but I decided against it. My steak was prepared properly and was quite tasty. My husband had the grilled salmon which he also thoroughly enjoyed. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate grand Marnier creme caramel. It was divine! Overall, our dining experience was wonderful. Making the 20-minute trek was well worth it.

Mariah was a super sweet server who was friendly knowledgeable and attentive to our table. We didn't feel rushed or pressured, it was a relaxing brunch to sit and talk and catch up! We ordered the biscuit & 3 butters- light, fluffy, buttery biscuits and the butters were delicious! After that we got the farm fresh omelets, Italian slinger, breakfast burrito and steak and eggs with grits. The steak was delicious, melts in your mouth, the eggs were perfectly cooked... the Italian slinger was phenomenal! I cleaned my plate- delicious salsiccia and over easy eggs cooked exactly right! Going off the pictures and reviews beforehand, I was expecting it to be more upscale/fine dining. It was a lot more casual than that. Kind of like if Outback had less tables and more of a neighborhood bar feel lol. Not a bad thing, just different from what I pictured when I made the reservation. We came mainly for the steak because obviously the place is called Carnivore. We got the Bone In Ribeye, Chicken Alfredo and Carnivore Potatoes, plus a Strawberry Basil Martini and a Menabrea. Funny enough, the Chicken Alfredo ended up being the best thing we ordered. We basically got it to have some pasta with the steak and ended up not being able to stop eating it. Huge portion, a lot of chicken, and the Alfredo was really good. Was not expecting to leave a place called Carnivore talking more about the pasta than the steak. The ribeye was good, but for the price I expected more. Once you're spending $60 to $70 on a steak, I expect a noticeable difference from somewhere like Outback, and I didn't really feel like there was. It wasn't bad at all, it just wouldn't be the reason I came back. The Carnivore Potatoes were our least favorite. Verrrrry soft and absolutely drowning in butter. Between the two of us we ate maybe one potato and left the rest. The martini was really good and the Menabrea was a solid beer with dinner. Service was probably the biggest downside. For such a small restaurant we really didn't see our server much, maybe 3 times the whole meal. Once for drinks, once to take our order, and once a while after the food came, which is when I finally got to order my beer. After that she was putting chairs up and sweeping the rest of the restaurant before coming back, so when she did we just asked for to go boxes, dessert and the check all at once. We took the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake to go and that was actually pretty good too. Also didn't realize until we got there that Carnivore is on The Hill. It's tucked into the neighborhood and I really liked the location. Went at 7:45 on a Wednesday and parking was easy. Good anniversary dinner and I'm glad we tried it. I'd come back, but honestly I'd probably be coming back for the Chicken Alfredo before the steak.

And, the manager didn't seem interested in customer feedback disappearing during this proceds. The most unfortunate thing is they didn't comp the meal but only wanted to send a steak home to- go after all their mistakes and everone else had finshed their meals. I guarantee that will be the last time we visit Mascoutah Steak House. It's sad since it's one of the restaurants I look forward to when visiting the area. But, never again. Customers should leave feedback before the restaurant fails. So sad.

Neither was present when a group of six of us dined here yesterday. Let's be clear: Mascoutah Steak House is a "steakhouse" that only serves one actual cut of steak (a ribeye--and no, Salisbury steak is not a steak). We already had low expectations. The food itself was mediocre at best. The ribeyes ordered by our group came out looking grey with absolutely zero sear. I ordered the Cali salad; it looked fine, but it had a bizarre, sour flavor that was completely unidentifiable. While the food was disappointing, it isn't why I'm writing this review. The real issue was the glass of red wine I ordered. As I finished the glass, I discovered a huge fly sitting at the very bottom. I understand things happen, and I wasn't even going to make a scene. When our server took the glass back to the bar, I watched her. She looked into the glass with visible disgust. We made eye contact, and I mouthed to her, "Yeah, I drank out of that." Instead of apologizing, addressing the situation, or simply removing the drink from the tab, she avoided our table entirely. When the bill arrived, the wine was still fully charged. When I went to the bar to calmly explain the situation to another employee, I was met with total indifference. I was essentially told it wasn't their problem, though they generously offered a insulting 10% discount on the glass. This isn't about a $6 glass of wine. It's about basic human decency and food safety. I shouldn't have to argue to get a bug-infused drink taken off my bill. If you value decent food, basic hygiene, and staff that actually cares about their customers, skip this place.

My brother-in-law had a brisket pastrami that he loved. We had a great server who was friendly, quick and knew the place inside and out! She didn't bother checking on me for coffee refill ect I got tired of waiting to pay and walked up to counter to see if I could pay and leave. Had to wait for her and the cook till they finished arguing with another patron about a sandwich wrap. Took a few more minutes to get her to ring me up. The cook seemed irritated and told the lady "I'll remake it" If it was me seeing how annoyed he was I wouldn't eat that wrap. I won't be going back , my omelet was decent and would rate a 4 star but the service was horrible. Waitress seemed more inclined to gab with other staff or checking her phone than tending to customers.
