I've been on the hunt for the best catfish in the area and this place was recommended. I was thrilled that they even serve grilled catfish which is harder to find. You can get the 1 piece fillet dinner with sides or 3 fillets with no sides. I didn't want sides so got the 3 piece and had 1 fried and 2 grilled. The 3 pieces were thick, juicy and cooked to perfection! I loved both the grilled and fried version. Our waitress was very nice, attentive and the food came out hot and fresh. My husband got the Texas BBQ burger and while it looked amazing, he said it lacked seasoning and wasn't impressed. He ate it though and said he would return and try something else. Randomly found this spot on the way back from Red Bud, we wanted to eat somewhere different. SO glad we came across this spot! We got fried green beans for an app and they were fire. My son got the chicken strips and fries. Hubs got the Texas burger and a salad. I got the chicken sandwich and sweet potatoe fries. Oh. My. Gosh. Everything was amazing. The service was stellar-Angie knows what's up. The patio was the best part - so gorgeous out there! Def will come back on the motorcycle. Such a pretty drive to a pretty place. Hard to even give it one star...third time giving them a chance - never again. Waited over 90 minutes for our food with no one ever giving us an update, and only after asking where our food was did they manage to bring it out a few minutes later, but oddly enough, it still comes out cold and stale. Burgers with cheese that was hardly melted, potato skins that were hard on the bottom, mozzarella sticks that were solid inside, cold tater tots - there's no way that food just came out of a fryer. Nice venue, nice bar and outside area, but the service is beyond horrendous. read more

I met a friend for drinks it was a shame we could get a drink. I sat there for 15 minutes beore I finally flagged the bartender down for a drink. She never checked on us. I finally sat there like a toddler with my hand in the air trying to get her attention. She even walked by me with out looking. We asked about the special. She said "Tacos" and walked away. We had to flag her down again just to order our food. She never asked if we needed anything else. The tacos were amazing but the service was some of the worst I've ever had. I wish Gina was still there on Tuesdays. She was the best. Always filled our drinks, checked to see how our food was ect. The young girl working last night has no business in the service industry. It was my friends 1st time there she loved the outdoor area and had no idea there is live music and beautiful patio. We will be back but if the same girl is working, I'm walking out! read more

I was here for a class reunion. Tons of bartenders and servers so you did not wait for a drink. We had appetizers which were tasty and quick. They have a beautiful outside patio area where they have bands on Sunday. The restrooms are huge and very clean. The owner was their and taking care of customers all night. Praline sauce for the sweet potato fries is OFF THE CHAIN ! Hubby had the party melt and it was really good. Just like everyone they are a little short handed but it only took 20 min for everything to hit the table. Lots of TV's to watch the game and pool table and basketball to kill time while waiting. Atmosphere here is great. Especially if you sit outside. Their backyard area has been upgraded with a really nice patio and stage area. I ordered the sirloin tips with a sweet potato and hush puppies. All excellent. Others got the sirloin steak with mashed potatoes, pub burger, Philly steak sandwich, fried pickles and said they were tasty. My husband got the chicken Caesar salad, which was not so great. The lettuce was limp like day old salad. Tasted all right but the wilted lettuce was disappointing. I ordered a lemon drop martini and was given a 7-up and lemon vodka bar drink. NOTE: This is not a wine bar! The name is more of a play on the euphemism. They do have wines, but not a huge selection. On with the review... This place was pretty neat. Set off the main street, this restaurant seems new and well outfitted. We went on a Friday night for dinner and there was a live band (more on that later). Service was very excellent, our server was on top of everything, had great menu knowledge, and was very friendly as well. The food was also very good. My wife had the wings, which were perfectly cooked, and I had a hand pattied burger. Most places that say "hand pattied" mean "hand pattied*" but this burger was definitely crafted by a human. And it was delicious. My only gripe was the live band. We went at 8, kitchen closed at 9. We were warned that the band was loud. No worries, we were there to eat and leave. The band started at 8:30... They weren't loud, they were deafening. The sound meter on my phone had them at 127dB, which, according to Google, is right above a pneumatic riveter and right below a jet engine takeoff. The acoustics in the place probably made it that level due to echo effects. Anyway, once they started, conversation between me and my wife and the server became texting on our phones for each other to read. Most places won't start a band until after the kitchen closes so that people there for dinner can speak to each other. Or if they still want to serve food, limit the menu to apps so that sit down diners know what's about to happen to them. The place is relatively new, so I'm still going to be giving five stars... But maybe they should think about that in the future? Please? Anyhow, worth it for the food and service. If you are going for dinner and conversation, make sure you avoid the band. read more

I have been to Backstreet in the past and have had decent meals and service but last night was different. My sister was in town so I said lets do taco Tuesday at Backstreet. First we waited forever to order our drinks then had to wait again to place our order. From the time we sat at our table to to time we finally got our food it was over an hour. There were people who came in after me and received their food and were done by the time we received our food. It seems they care care of people they know before others even if the customers who came in before the ones the know. Plan on a lot of time if you plan on going. Not happy. read more

We placed it to go order and we're told it would be ready in 30 to 35 minutes we arrive 20 minutes later and the food was already sitting on the counter, ready to go. We tried this place out since it was our anniversary and we wanted to stay close but try something new. The building and location are great. We walked in to a very uninviting staff. I don't think anyone smiled even once. We ordered our food, finally, which took forever. Come to find out they were apparently ensuring that the steak was in fact done. Two bites was all I could handle before my jaws gave out on me. As we were sitting there three glasses were brought back in by the customer because their server also didn't feel like serving apparently. My earlier review still stands. Big fan of this little known but nice dining Fun experience. At the very end of the road off mainstreet Hecker. Look for the small sign entering "Back street" near the fire station on the south side of town. You will not believe the interior of this place considering Hecker only has 500 people. Big and newly constructed with a modern yet rustic look. Hats off to the 2 women owners who took a big chance in such a remote little town. Steaks and a menu is far from rural bar food. The cook must have some formal training for sure. Check it out. Its not a pricey menu nor pricey full bar. Patio seating too. Watch the corn grow! read more

We arrived at 6 pm to join a group would was there at 5:30 pm. They had already put in an order for onion rings. They did say food would take an hour. OK. Two hours later the food started to come out, including the onion rings that had been order before I arrived. Took 2 1/2 hrs. for an appetizer to come out along with our food order. The purpose of ordering an appetizer is to have something to nibble on while you wait for your food. An hour after we order our food we asked about the onion rings, the waitress said they ran out and had to make more ! They brought out the food but forgot one of the kids meals. It is now 8 pm. It appeared that if you knew the staff and owner you received your food first, even if you ordered it before them. I'll never eat there again read more

If you like pool, they have pool though it's a bit too close to the tables for my liking.
