Please don't make the same mistake I did.. If you're looking for a bike service do yourself a service and queue for the longer wait times for more professional bike shop. This one is incredibly disorganized and these guys totally screwed me. The short version of what happened to me: Booked my bike for a standard tune-up and dropped it off. They told me 2 days. 3 weeks, 5 shop visits and over $150 of extra fees later I got my bike back and there are pieces missing and now broken on my bike. They may have broken or destroyed a brake caliper and covered it up. In the end I paid the extra money. I'm pretty sure these guys screwed me, but I'm tired. I just wanted my bike back. Now that I have it back I honestly don't think I'll ever see that old brake caliper again. I think they just wanted my money. The worst part is that they also broke my display for what gear my bike is in. It used to work fine but now it's all messed up. I just don't want to bring the bike in anymore, it's such a headache. read more

Rode in with a broken cable on rear derailleur on Wednesday at 4pm to be honest I wasn't expecting they could help me after hearing how busy bike shops are nowadays these guys and girl were awesome they went right to work and had me fixed up in 30minutes and the bill was very reasonable I can't thank them enough for making a bad day so much better read more

Not needed a bike fitting service for myself, but my partner had some issues with her wrist hurting after taking up cycling recently. She needed some advice on what bike adjustments would help her. CJ was very helpful and patient, and took time to explain what the options were and how various adjustments could make cycling a pleasurable experience. An appointment has been made and she's hoping for a more comfortable ride. read more

There is nothing bad to say about this place! The staff here are very knowledgeable about the products and are helpful without being pushy. They allowed me to test drive a lot of different bikes and clearly explained the differences between the various bikes I was checking out. Also, when you purchase a bike you get free tune-ups for a year! Check them out if you're in the market for a bike. read more

I don't know about making large purchases here, but I have been in for minor purchases and repairs. They've always been low-key and helpful.

Unbelievably rude and condescending service from this place ! I've been to lots of bike shops in the city, decided to go check this place out when in the neighborhood to look for accessories and possibly order custom parts. The 2 staff members i encountered were these tatooted bearded hipsters with absolutely no idea how to deal with customers. I understand you're pissed off about working for $15/hr in your 30's but no need to take that out on customers ! These guys should be put in a warehouse far away from people, as they have no people skills whatsover, and are aggresive and condesending. Besides, everything in stock is overpriced, no good deals to be had on anything. Was even quoted $450 for a part that another shop quoted for $75... wow ! Stay far away from this place unless you like being yelled at and treated like crap by angry hipster douchebags ! read more

Bought a bike. Had to have an appointment (COVID19 ). Next weekend I waited in line to pick it up as scheduled and they didn't have it. At first wouldn't refund my deposit. Tried to upgrade me. Had no wiggle room on pricing. Even on accessories (light, lock, service agreement). Did not have the courtesy to contact me in advance. UPDATE: The PayPal deposit is locked-in. It will cost me 25% due to an exorbitant US/Cda conversion and withdrawal fee. (Douchebags associate/associate with other douchebags). Don't waste your time here. Go to Ride On instead -- see my 5 star review here read more

It would be ZERO stars if that was an option. Don't waste your money here. The staff were rude and not helpful. They didn't even spend the time to explain to me what needed to be done on my bike. Made me feel like an inconvenience when I asked a few questions to better understand what repairs were needed. read more

I would also give a zero if I could. Bought an e-bike here recently, next day I found out govt won't charge PST on e-bikes anymore. Store had no idea of the changes (should have since it's their business). The manager (Julie) couldn't be bothered to respond to me to tell me she was unwilling to do anything about the fact that I wasted $300 on PST a day before in her store. Would have bought it a day later had I known. Extremely poor management in my opinion. Don't expect this place to go the extra mile, or even budge an inch. They lost my business. read more

Really appreciated the patient and helpful service from the staff at Denman Bike Shop. I called at 5:59 pm and I was thinking there is no way my call will be picked up. I was pleasantly surprised. Made my covid appointment and worked with a staff member to find the right bike for my husband's birthday. The limit on my debit card was not high enough for a large purchase. The staff member was super chill and never made me feel like an idiot even tho I was dying inside paying with three different debit cards. Thanks again for the super service. My husband loves his Electra Townie E-Bike. I am loving my new wicker basket and new Townie rear bike rack! read more

our initial visit was good. they were helpful and happy to sell us options for resolving issues with our bikes staring if it doesn't work bring it back. selling us extra inbertubes and axle sockets. today we brought back the parts we didn't need and were told no refunds store credits only. They were aggressive and rude. then told us no one in the store knew how to give a credit. we try to support local businesses but will never go back to this one! read more

Probably the poorest bike service I've had anywhere in the world. Shop was busy when I went in and a guy came from the back to price up a basic service, two new tires and the mounting of said tires. Price was v. high to mount the tires at $17.50 + tax per tire (which i bought in-store from them). I hadn't done bike work in Vancouver before so I said ok and paid upfront. A week later when I came in to pick up the bike I asked a different guy first how much was it to mount a tire that was bought in-house and he said "roughly $14, $15 that sort of thing". When I told him his colleague had charged $17.50 he shrugged and said nothing and wandered off. I had phoned around and got pricing ranging from $13 to $15 per tire from 6 different Vancouver area bike stores. The bike wasn't in great nick after the service, and the tubes were poorly mounted with no cap on one valve. One valve sticks out sideways and one of the several cables they said I needed wasn't mounted properly. A very poor experience and a bit of a blokey/unhelpful hipster atmosphere in there too so I didn't want to stay a minute longer than required. Inexplicably, these guys win the best in Vancouver in the bike shop category on the Georgia Straight, and I cannot understand it, unless they have pull in the Straight or something. There are so many good bike shops in Van now - don't waste time with these guys. read more

It was an absolute pleasure purchasing a bike here. I did a bunch of research on bikes and had visited a few different shops as I was looking and I really appreciated the fact that the staff here didn't try and talk me out of the frame style I really loved and wanted. They were easy to talk to and friendly without being pushy. They clearly and patiently talked through the different options and shared their knowledge about any and all adjustments that could be made the make the bike perfect for me. They also walked me through the lock options for keeping my bike as safe as possible. I loved how collaborative the staff were as well. It was really nice to see them working as a team and supporting where needed. It was nice to have a different perspective on occassion and no offense taken when I didn't like the suggestion. I'd recommend checking them out if you are in the market for a bike! I was happy to spend my money in this shop. read more

NEVER going back to Denman Cycles. I paid over $250 for a standard tuneup, front/rear brake replacement, and labour. Less than a month later, I returned to get a new tube. What did they tell me? "You'll need your brakes replaced soon." I checked out my brakes and sure enough - I paid for new brakes, but they never actually installed them. Watch out for these guys. read more

Big shout out and high fives to the super folks at Denman Bikes on Main! Not only did they patiently help me select rain pants at closing time last Fri Oct 13, they rescued the wallet I left behind and called me the next morning! Can't ask for better! THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING AWESOME! And did I mention this is the place to shop for accessories like lights, helmets, panniers and more? read more

Just went there to try and have my bike fixed and was looked at and sent away with no help being told to go to another bike shop that was more my price range .. when I had more then enough cash in my pocket and just wanted my bike fixed... I got that look as my bike was crappy because I got it for free I must be poor and can't afford this place.. first and last time I go there... Just because people don't look like they have money doesn't mean a damn thing! read more

I was building a dirtjumper for my oldest kid who had a "specific" colour scheme in mind and was excited to find a local bike shop that could possibly have the part in stock. Why spend money on Amazon when I can support local right? When I originally stopped by the bike shop to place my order the tech was super helpful in taking down my info and letting me know I would be contacted when the part comes in. Only to wait 3 weeks for me to reach out to the bike shop and find out that my part order had not even been put in with the last batch order. My kid was pretty bummed but the tech on the phone apologized and was very helpful in confirming my part order this time around. A week later, I miss a phonecall because of lacrosse coaching duties, and think to myself the part has came in!! Excitedly drove out to the Denman bike shop only to have to deal with the most RUDE (most likely the manager??) Customer service person I've ever dealt with. And trust me I used to work a returns desk...the WORST! When trying to track down my order I gave my name and contact info, she was unable to confirm if I had paid for the part. All the while telling me that the ordering system is very complex LOL. In the end she gave me the unfortunate news that my part was not coming in until 2021. And I get it...covid and that all facets of the global economy are suffering. But then she rudely said try other pedals with different colours at higher price points...I told her that it had to be that specific pedal and colour, not because of the price but because it had a smaller surface area for my kids SMALLER FEET and the colour scheme he had picked out was orange. Seemed completely disinterested. There are plenty of other bike shops in that area and definitely try those first and if those don't work out, try CL or Facebook and if those don't work out, try Amazon. Anywhere but this place! read more

Just bought a new bike from Denman. Love the bike and love the store. Great selection of bikes and apparel. The staff is awesome--bike experts but not bike snobs. They are easy going, friendly, and super helpful. Looking forward to going back when it's time for maintenance and to accessorize my new ride! read more

I'd recommend Denman Bikes on Main street to anyone, and have! I've been a customer for a few years now, and have had only positive experiences having my old bike tuned up and worked on there. This has definitely not been the case at other Mount Pleasant bike shops. One of the things I like best about the people who work at Denman Bikes on Main is that they will often suggest a cheaper option to get the result the customer wants. The opposite of upselling! This and the great service has kept me coming back. I bought a new bike from them last week. Ted and Nathan helped me out on various visits. They were fantastic each step of the way, and very patient with my cheapskate humming and hawing, and repeat visits while I deliberated. I love my new bike and credit them with giving me good advice and enough information so I could make my own choices. Thank you Nathan and Ted, and Denman Bikes on Main! read more

I bought a bike from this shop a few months ago. The deal included free service for a year. Here is why I won't go back. I asked for an adjustment to my handlebar width of 3/4" off each side, and an install of an accessory that requires instruction, as it has oodles of programs. Both items I would pay for. They threw out my accessory instructions and acted like I was the idiot for wanting them (there are dozens of programs on this accessory, and I'm not a freaking mind reader). They cut off double the amount I asked for on each side. Then they argued about the mistake telling me that my hands were supposed to hang of the too narrow bars, that the bars never needed adjustment in the first place and that a man's and women's shoulder with was just a few millimetres of difference anyway. I was floored. All in all I was ganged up on by 3 or 4 super rude and mean employees. Oh yes, and I'd also noted that my crank was noisy, so one of them test road the bike 1/2 way around the store and announced it was fine. Never ever would I darken this door again. I'm a paying customer and I'm not paying for attitude and abuse, and poor service. These guys are super unprofessional. Luckily I found that this is not the case at other service providers. read more
