I rented 2 bikes to explore the town and they were great. He tried to be funny with corny jokes but that's fine. The price was reasonable, and I got the bikes for 24 hours, including a bike lock/helmet and phone holder. I could bike to Stanley Park without pressure to meet a timeline. No more because the owner really needs to get his act together. I wanted to buy a new bike and had some questions about what models they had available. First thing, when I showed up he was serving a customer. No one else seemed available so I waited. This went on a while and I said I'd go next door for a haircut and be back when he was available. "I might not be here later", owner says. OK. On the way out I was approached by another staff member. When they heard my slightly complicated question, I saw their eyes glaze over. OK, let's stick to the plan and come back later. Back. Owner is again serving another customer. OK, stuff happens. He's on the phone though, making this very slow. Now, as I am waiting I overhear the phone conversation - he's a loud guy. Obviously he's asking for something concerning the customer he's serving. Err, no. He's barely serving that customer. Instead he seems to be talking to an acquaintance about a house inspection they're doing later that afternoon. For like 10 minutes, in front of a very a patient customer with her kid. I wasn't so patient - this was a 2 minute question I had so far wasted 20 minutes waiting to ask. I left and won't be back. Other shops exist which have multiple sales people trained. read more

Simon always remembers me and tries to help all the time. Though sometimes it could be difficult to get his attention as he can be quite busy. Went in today to ask about handlebars. Was treated with a dismissive and condescending attitude when I asked whether or not they carry bullhorn handlebars. "Sorry, we don't sell any of that hipster stuff." Excuse me? I happen to like the position riding with horns because it is aerodynamic and comfortable for me. I also asked to see some drop bars, but did not get far enough to see them. Having worked in the cycling industry for a number of years, I'm appalled that anyone would talk to a customer in such a way. Completely ridiculous. read more

Used to like this place. The last few times I've taken my bike in for service they didn't address all the concerns I had, and have been met with indifference when inquiring about these issues. Just had it "tuned up" a couple weeks ago and already the chain is acting up, gears are not working well, on a newer bike after minimal use. Normally would go back to the company with my concerns but don't feel confident that the concerns would be welcome or corrected. Will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

We rented twice while staying across the street at the Westin. They seem to only have one rate, around C$30 for 24 hours. They close at 6 pm so when we came back late we were able to keep our bike in the Westin's garage and return it the next day. Simon is a no nonsense guy who knows what he's doing, gets people in and out. The shop isn't big so he doesn't encourage chatting but he does want to make sure you have what you need and the equipment fits. Once you get used to this you will have an excellent rental. The quality of the bikes, helmet and locks were on the mark. We compared his prices to others we saw during our ride and he beat them all, especially the ones on the outskirts of Stanley Park. read more

I have gone in to Simon's several times for small items which has been convenient as they are close to my work. I have never been very impressed with their customer service. Overall not too friendly, but I never let it deter me from going back. I recently ordered a part trough Simons and they took my number and said they would call when the part arrived. I missed their first two call attempts and they left messages both times. I was in the midst of a busy couple of weeks so I was unable to go in to pick it up. Their third call attempt I answered the phone and they told me (in an obviously annoyed tone) that the part I ordered was in. I said "that's great thanks!" and they immediately hung up on me without saying anything. I don't care how busy you are or how long you have been trying to get a hold of the customer. This experience only confirmed my past experience with their staff. As a business it is never OK to deal with one of your valued customers like this. I don't think I will ever shop here again. read more

We came from Edmonton Ab on a Saturday and wanted to rent a couple bikes to cruise around Vancouver for the day. The staff here was great and friendly, with the bike rental you can get locks, helmets and even a backpack if you need. So we got a bike each, locks and backpack. Unfortunately the bikes we got were very dirty and pretty old and beat up. Both bikes had bald tires no drink or water bottle holders. I guess we had pictured in our minds that we were going to get fashionable cruiser style bikes that kinda made us feel the tourist cruiser part. I guess my rant here is to you to just ask more questions before you rent a bike. I know I will for the next time. Cheers read more

I've been in this place about a half-a-dozen times and I've never once been greeted or asked for assistance without asking for it. Just atrocious service. A couple times I was helped by the owner, Simon, and that didn't go very well either. Not a good sign. I commute to work every day so if my bike breaks down on the way, I have to take it here. Yes, they are great at getting the job done same day. Yes, their prices are pretty reasonable. Yes, I have paid more for far less competent service elsewhere in the city. Yes, their wheel guru built me a fantastic back wheel that could support my 290lbs, plus a trailer and panniers without ever popping a spoke. But I hate the fact that I have to pay that guy money at the end of the day. He doesn't even pretend to be glad that he's got customers coming through the door. We're all just a pain in his ass. If anyone knows of another bike shop downtown, please let me know. If there's anyone out there with half a clue how to fix a bike and a modicum of customer service skill, there's a gap in the market downtown. read more

Simon is a man of few words but a very big heart. He allowed me to store my bike in his store while we would be attending weekly Library storytime. My daughter has a disability and we rely on my bike to get around with her as we don't have a car. It would be a disaster if it was stollen. So I really appreciate that kind gesture. Also, last week on the way there my bike broke down and the damage was extensive. Toby from the shop fixed it really quickly while we were attending the library and when we were back it was ready to ride again and they explained to me what happened and showed the old parts. I was really impressed with the professional and timely service! It wasn't too expensive either. I am going to have any future service only with them from now on! Same as another poster here, i have visited half a dozen times. Every time I entered the shop I either had to awkwardly ask for assistance or in one instance wait 10-15 minutes before someone came to me. Pros. prices are good and the location downtown is great. Cons. The people who work there! Simon is a bit of a prick and the rest of the staff seem demoralized. My latest visit I dropped my "winter-rider" in for a tuneup. They never mentioned when it would be ready even though there was no rush...they took my phone #. K. Wanted to by gloves and waited at the desk for five minutes while Simon was on the phone talking to a buddy about Yellow pages....he never even glanced at me, so I just left the gloves and bounced. dick four days later I called and politely ask "do you know when my bike will be ready?" response "it is ready! now come and get it"...ouch. Phone calls take 20 seconds....Simon If someone knows of another half-decent bike shop downtown..please let me know. I just want someone to appreciate my business. I was here a few weeks ago looking for some spd pedals for my cross bike. I found that they had exactly what I was looking for, and after unsuccessfully trying a few other stores, I was ready to buy. While this was happening, an employee was wheeling a rental bike from the shop to the cash register to what appeared to be the manager, amd a tourist. It appears that the employee brought the wrong bike out, and the manager at the till screamed at him, scolding him for his mistake. There were plenty of people in the store, and this made for a very uncomfortable situation. I decided I would rather buy the pedals elsewhere, as I didn't want to support a shop that treats it's employees (and customers for that matter) in such an unprofessional way. I have never walked out of a business in protest of the staff before, but I'm glad I did. I hope this was an isolated incident, but that does not seem to be the case based on the reviews I've read. read more

Simon's is moving up on my list....barely. The owner, Simon, really isn't much for customer service. Despite me trying to order a high end bike from him he didn't return calls and was bad about moving the order forward. It was only through sheer persistance and my interest in their good price and unlimited tune up package that I got the bike. During my pick up of the bike things improved. One of their store staff, Jonny, was extremely helpful and took the time to speak about the bike and even how it was designed and what trails I should try. Simon even made an effort to be friendly. It was a good experience -- this time -- but if I had to say I'd say you can do better elsewhere on the service side. read more

Bikes were in very good conditions and we used them for half of the day. The service on the other hand was relax and somewhat helpful. On the plus side, prices were affordable... Simon was busy when we came in, but absolutely hilarious and ridiculously helpful. Offered a fantastic deal on a road bike and all the gear and even though he took a few calls while we were there, he was able to help us and 2 other customers during that time. Sure, if you want his undivided attention, you'll probably be disappointed, but if you have some patience and have a bit of time, it's totally worth it. This place was great! My boyfriend and I were staying at the Georgian Court close by, and came here to rent bikes for the day. It was only $30 CAD for the whole day. When we first got there, the door was closed and gated even though it said it opened at 10am (we got there at 10:30), but we tried the handle and stood outside for a minute and finally someone came to the door. He was very helpful and friendly, and gave us some recommendations on where to go. We biked around Stanley park and down to the Craft beer market. The locks were a little confusing to figure out at first, but then easy. Great service, great bikes. I would definitely recommend it. read more

I picked this place because it was the closest to me at the time and I was pleasantly surprised! After waiting for the people in front of me to finish asking all their dang questions, I told the counter dude that I needed two bikes rentals and he got me out the door in less than 5 minutes. Being an avid bike rider, I was super appreciative of this. Bikes were comfortable and were great for moderate hill climbs in and around Stanley park. When returning the bikes the next day, I got stuck behind another couple who kept on asking a bunch of questions. It's a bike people! All you do is get on and peddle! Bike rental was $25 for 24 hours including lock, helmet and backpack. Tip: Bring the bikes inside when returning, make eye contact with the counter dude and tell him you're returning. The process for returning took less than a minute but I wasted 15 minutes waiting for the people in front of me to finish. read more

Funny story. We rented a couple bikes to tour Stanley park. While trying on a bike helmet, my fiancee accidentally left her prescription glasses in a bag on the counter. 15 minutes into our ride, she noticed it missing. So we called the shop to let him know. Apparently he mistakenly gave it to another customer and was going to call them back. We rode the rest of the ride worrying about the glasses, but fortunately they were found when we returned to the bike shop. The funny part? The customer had said, "yeah, those are my glasses." What a liar. His excuse: "I thought they were a free gift with bike purchase." Right.... Thanks to Simon for tracking down our glasses. By the way, the bike prices are great here! read more

Great spot and centrally located, so no need to trek all the way to Denman for a rental. Not sure if I was dealing with Simon, but whoever it was was an absolute pro. In fact, this was probably the fastest and most hassle free rental I've ever experienced. From the time I walked through the door to the moment I cycled out of it, no more than 10 minutes had passed. And with that, I was equipped with a killer bike, a helmet, a super durable lock, and a bike map of the city. Very cool place. Really good service. And only $25 per day (24 hours, none of that 9-5 nonsense) to rent a pretty sweet ride. read more

During a recent visit to Vancouver, my husband and I rented a couple of bikes to ride around Stanley Park and Granville Island. Simon's Bike Shop is conveniently located downtown and we found it with ease. The rental process was a cinch: $54 got us 2 bikes, 2 helmets, 2 locks, 1 backpack and 1 city map for the entire day. This was definitely one of my favorite activities during our visit. Vancouver is a charming city, that is designed to be explored on bike. There are plenty of broad bike paths wending throughout the city, which really made me feel safe. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Simon's Bike Shop for your bike rental. I been dealing with this bike shop for sometime now and there always a headache when dealing with tuneup and/or warranty issues with this bike shop.. From now I will turn away from this shop. Due to how unprofessional owner Simon handle this matter. I purchase a Specialized Turbo Levo Sworks from this shop and gotten the Ride wrap install from this dealer. As I pickup my bike I realize there is some bubbles dots under the wrap. The installer tell me it will be gone by tomorrow. So I trusted the installer, and I waited for a couple of days as well didn't ride my bike at all but the bubbles still under the wrap and I also notices some edges are already started to peal off. So I phone the shop and ask the installer to check the ride wrap on my bike. A few days later I went to the shop and have the installer working on my bike, first he started to use some water spray at the bubbles area and he started to peal the wrap out.. and reinstall the same wrap again. But when he did pull the wrap off and stick it back on I seen the spots is even worst the white spot is much bigger now. At first it was a couple dots now the entire area have white spot everywhere on that part of the frame. The installer told me this is the best he can do and ask me to put a sticker on it so I won't see it. So I left the shop and did some calling around and I realize ride wrap head quarters is in Whistler. So I brought my bike to ride wrap Whistler and have the service manager and head installer inspect my bike... First things he said to me who ever install the ride wrap did a crappy job... there were a few pics needed to reinstall with new ride wrap and the worst thing is the installer from Simon bike shop pull the wrap out and reinstall it with the same pics the installer have not use the heat gun and damage the clear code on my frame by pulling too hard and not having the heat gun heating that area to allow the wrap soften up before he pull the wrap off the affected area. I phone Simon bike shop and speak to owner Simon about this concern and he told me that he have nothing to do with it and it is not my responsibility because I subcontract to my staff to do the installation. I said I don't understand what you mean can you tell me more clearly. Basically Simon told me nothing he can do about it and tell me to buy a clear code from Canadian tire and spray it myself and hang up. This is the worst bike shop for customers Service and this Owner will lie to Specialized Rep Canada to get what he want, and he will blame everything on the customers I seen this happen before when Simon blame everything on a customers and told Specialized Rep a different story. People... if you value your money just purchase you bike from another dealer. I seen a lot of shady business that were handle by this owner also if a customers require warranty issues he will have the customers wait and wait and wait and makeup stories that this shop is not available to do any warranty right now (NOT because of COVID-19 excuse). I have purchase a few bikes over the years which in total I spend at this shop approx over 60K dollars by now and I did met some nice mechanics over the years but most of them left already. Some mechanics left and told me not to deal with this bike shop anymore because Simon doesn't treat customers right. What Simon cares is just selling you bikes and after sales service is crap. Now I have reach out to Specialized Canada and started to file my complain with this dealer and still waiting for respond. If I can I will not even give one star to this freaking bike shop. read more

Simons bike Shop I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. took my stroller there to get the tired fixed and they pumped up the other 2 and get home and the front one pops whole my not even 2 year old is sleeping in it, so I take it back to get fixed and come home to both of the back tires popped. Call them up and the Owner was the rudest person I have ever talked too. He told me they had nothing to do with hose tyres and I told him the guy that inflated them even told me to go home and let some air out cause he over inflated them. He expected me to carry my massive stroller with now only 1 wheel there. I have never been talked to by a store owner like this in my life. He was dismissive and I talked to the guy on that pumped them up and he said he was always like this and just stress which I said this wasn't my muck up. read more
