I usually go to Spokes when I'm at Stanley but this time I wanted to try e-scooters instead of bikes so we went to Freedom bikes because they had the cheapest rates and their scooters seemed pretty sturdy. It was $12/hr for their e-scooter which was pretty reasonable and the scooters were sooo good! They had good stability and the service was pretty good. read more

This bike shop is located about 500m from Stanley Park. There are four other bike shops right next to this one, but the prices here are the cheapest. Their bikes, although not as good as the other shops around, are decent. For a ride around Stanley Park, their bikes are perfectly fine. If you plan to bike for an entire day, you might want to get a higher end bike. Their service is courteous and efficient. Note that finding a street parking spot here can be extremely difficult. read more

Excellent services. We rented four regular bikes and an e-bike, and the staff explained the bikes' operation to us. They also ensured we knew how to use the locks that came with them and asked us to test ride before heading out. When we came back, we had a little accident with the e-bike. The staff were more concerned about how to help with bandages and hydrogen peroxide, and asked her to clean the injured area. Hey Yelpers!!! We rented a couple e-scooters while on vacation here in order to zoom around Stanley Park. After getting over my case of nerves after not having been on a scooter in about 20 years, I had a blast! These things go fast enough to get the wind on my bald head and take in a lot of scenery while getting around Stanley Park. I would highly recommend doing this as it's a great way to get around town without having to do something as boring as walking. Just make sure that you get used to riding it before you crank up the speed, and that you tell people that you're passing them on the right or the left side so they don't crash into you. They staff here were very friendly and helpful. We got a short tutorial on how to ride the scooters. The paperwork (a waiver in case to crash) is short and easy. My wife is hooked and I have to admit that I had a great time and look forward to doing it again. Have fun! read more

While walking on Denman street, and we were looking for a bike rental place, we came across Freedom Bikes. Despite so many bike rental places, this one pulled me towards them because there were less people. Price wise, everywhere is same. At Freedom Bikes, we were served by two guys. They were wonderful. They picked out the bikes for us; they made sure we are comfortable. In the end, they helped us mapped out where and how to bike the loop of Stanley park. They tipped us, where we can make pit stops around the loop. I really appreciate it their tips. In the end, they hooked with a basket on the bike and helmet on our heads. 100% recommended! read more

My bike needed a tune up and Freedom Bikes was recommended to me by a friend and they did not disappoint !! Arsim was incredibly friendly and outgoing. He took the time to go through all of my biking concerns. I ended up leaving the bike with him even though he offered to have it ready for me within an hour. I picked this place because I had read in a blog that they are the least expensive shop on the block with great customer service. Our bikes came with a helmet and upon request, you can also request a basket and lock for no additional fee. Their website is very clear and you can see their selection of bikes and prices. Best money we spent in Vancouver. The shop is super close to Stanley Park so once you rent your bikes you're in the park within minutes. The service at the shop was super friendly and fast, and checking out was fast. We rented for 3 hours and were able to do the full loop of the park on paved paths, as well as tons of the gorgeous interior trails. It takes a while to get used to the flow and bike rules in the park, and many of the locals have zero patience for tourists, so just be careful and stay out of their way. I believe there is no better location for both Bike rental and bike quick service in the town. First time we used the location was in the fall when we tried to get some non-app/credit card bike rental for a trip to the Stanley park. This location was poorly marked on Google but we stoped by as we walked by. The guy in the store was friendly and gave us a good deal so we took the bikes from him. Only after trying a different rental next week we realized how good his bikes were! Definitely worth it!!! Second time I had experience with these guys was a week ago during the Corona times, when I desperately needed to get my "new" used bike fixed so I can hit some trails. I just tried to ask in here as they didn't mention online that they are fixing bikes and they did the whole job in 24hrs. Tuned the bike, replaced brake pads, changed cracked rim and fixed one wire. All within 250$!!! I got a quote for 550$ and 2 weeks waiting in a bike store in North Van!!! So definitely worth the visit when you need a small or bigger fix too. Too sum it up: Amazing place! I just picked up my bike from Freedom Bikes. Arsim, the owner, completed a full maintenance service on my old Trek bike. it had been heavily used during the year and over the recent long wInter. It had been out in all conditions; rain, snow and mud. It creaked and groaned with the occasional 'clunk' when changing gears. It was in need of resuscitation. Stayed in the West End for a long weekend a few weeks ago. I was surprised by the number of bike rental shops around, especially on Denman. But Freedom Bikes was advertising $7 an hr, which is lower than every other shop I saw, except 1. My wife and I rented for 24 hrs and the price was probably 2/3 what most other shops were charging. The bikes were brand new Specialized cruisers with enough gears to ride comfortably all around the city and wider tires that my wife liked since it had been raining. The bikes come with locks and helmets. Owner was cool, and the employee was great (Australian (maybe?), hat and bleach blond hair) getting us properly sized up. I'm was surprised that this shop didn't have more reviews (they had 1 at the time), but then learned that they just recently opened. read more

Here's just how great the customer service is at this shop (skip to the end for the summary)... We were heading to Whistler for a biking vacation and Crankworx, so we'd brought our own (fairly high-end) enduro bikes. We wanted to walk Vancouver for a few hours and then ride around Stanley Park, but here's the problem: if we left our bikes on our vehicle, they'd be stolen in a heartbeat (cut locks) or quickly parted-out (stolen derailleurs, etc). So we went to a rental place near Freedom Bikes where we rented last year and asked, "Where can we safely store our bikes in for a few hours?" Answer: nowhere. "Well, can we just rent four of your indestructible folding bike locks?" Sorry, we don't rent the locks by themselves. We got the same answer from their competitor across the street. "But try the new shop down the block," they said. So we went to Freedom Bikes. We asked if we could rent four locks. Their desk employee wasn't sure, so the question got passed to Arsim, the owner, who came over. We told him our dilemma. He totally got it. "You can just store your bikes here," he suggested. Really? What's the fee? "Nothing. Just give our shop a good review." Perfect! We left the bikes, walked around Vancouver for 4-5 hours, then returned. Arsim brought out our bikes. "Take a look, make sure everything is good," he insisted. Then he showed my son that both his rear thru-axle and a few spokes were loose. "You don't want to be smashing jumps at Whistler with that!" Arsim whipped out a hex wrench and tightened the wheel, THEN lubed the chains on ALL FOUR of our bikes (which had seen too much rain while driving from Utah). Later, at Whistler, we tightened the spokes ourselves--but wouldn't have noticed them if it weren't for Arsim. IN SUMMARY: Freedom Bikes safely stowed OUR OWN bikes for several hours, lubed our chains for us, noted our mechanical issues, and tightened one bike's thru-axle FOR FREE. And because of Arsim's generosity, nothing was stolen or damaged and we got to enjoy Vancouver for the day. THANK YOU ARSIM! You really know how to support a biking community! I will definitely rent here the next time I fly in to Vancouver! read more

Wonderful experience here today. Was going to rent from the bustling place on the corner, a few steps closer to Stanley Park. Someone on the street handed me a flyer for Freedom Bikes where rentals are $7.00/hour compared to $12/hour at the aforementioned shop. We gave them a shot. So, so glad. No crowd or line. We were in and out of the shop in 5 min with the perfect bikes, locks and baskets. Super friendly staff. We had our bikes for 1/2 day and we're able to do two laps around the sea wall and have a leisurely lunch for a total of $50 for the two of us. Well worth it. When we came in to rent, they were extremely busy but they did an amazing job of serving each customer swiftly and with care. I was okay with getting a pink bike even though I preferred a blue one but the guy helping us with the bikes was very nice and reassured me that he wanted me to get what I wanted even if it required moving a bunch of bikes to get my desired color. The owner of this bike shop Arsim is an absolute rock star. My friend recommended this place to me after she had a good experience with a tune-up there and let me tell you - it did not disappoint. I just dusted off my bike after the winter for the first ride of the spring season, but the shifters were sticky. I had a big bike ride planned for the day with a friend, so this was a major curve ball. I remembered about Arsim's shop and headed there. Straight away he figured out that I had sand in my shifters (from flipping the bike over onto its handles on the beach), which was causing the stickiness. He then did a quick air pressure clean and lube of the shifters, all while manning the front desk and running his business. He fixed my shifters and TOTALLY saved my big bike trip day... all for free. Arsim said he couldn't charge me for it because he couldn't guarantee the shifters wouldn't stick again from any other sand grains still stuck in there. Arsim is such a beauty! He works incredibly hard, is superbly knowledgable about bikes and has a ton of passion. 10/10 recommend supporting this local business! read more
