My husband and I split a sampler platter - had to try all the meats in order to give an accurate review. The ribs had a good smokey flavor, the pulled pork also had great flavor and didn't need sauce. The chicken was good but a little dry. The brisket - some of the pieces were over cooked and dry but others were tender and flavorful. We only had fries for the sides - typical french fries: greasy and good. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. Service was quick - which was great for us as we still have over 2 more hours of driving today. Lastly, the location couldn't be more perfect for a quick stop off the freeway to get a good bbq meal. read more

I stopped by Dempsey's on my way to KC from Columbia. I had a plate with ribs and brisket. The brisket was cut thick, but super tender. It had a nice smoke ring and wonderful flavor. The ribs were also tender and had a wonderful smoke flavor. The last wonderful item was a smoked chicken breast. When chicken is smoked it often ends up dry. Not so for this place. The chicken had a dry rub on it that was wonderful and the breast was moist. This is a must stop if you are on the road near Concordia and hungry. read more

Brisket was tough, tea and soda tasted odd, and the potato salad was fair with a green hue to it. The pulled pork was good as was the service. I've eaten a lot of BBQ over the years, and I'd recommend a pass on this one. Depending on your expectations, you might be disappointed. read more

Wow! We stopped to get gas at the Cenex (lowest price in 5 states on this trip) and decided to try a brisket sandwich. SO glad we did. Excellent smoke, tender, BBQ sauces were great. AND THE FRIES!!!! Amazing. We'll be back... even if Cenex isn't the cheapest. read more

Passing through on our way to Colorado and found this gem of a BBQ joint. Large portions of meat and good selection of sides along with a good sized salad bar. This is a great spot to stop if you want to try some flavorful ribs and especially the brisket was super tasty! read more

The wingsssssss! So good. Super crispy like fried chicken with a kick at the end! Loved the pulled pork, brisket was good (Husband says it tastes like it had never been smoked but it was good), Ribs are HUGE and good. Beans - no (too sweet), Mac - no (fake), Fries - yes (homemade). Kids had grilled cheese (so yummy), cheeseburger - yes (flat top grilled), and chicken tenders - yes. Service was good. The food was good but the service was not. The servers were too busy playing on their phones to even see when we left the building. Plus, seeing servers get ice cream at caseys does not seem good when on the clock. Knowing that the servers care so little about the customers does not make me want to go bad. Customers tip for service that is at least somewhat good. Being ignored when they want to order or pay because they have more important things to do on their phones is a dis-service and lazy. I am aure the boss is not paying them to play on their phone and ignore customers while also getting ice cream. If I wabted to be ignored I would have gone to Denny's. read more

Great kid friendly dining easy on the budget. I had the one trip side salad with a cheeseburger and was happy with both. Burger was grilled perfectly with great flavor. I only wish the salad had more lettuce other than iceberg, and maybe a few more toppings. Kids were all happy with their meals. Fries tasted great. Waitress was friendly and prompt. read more

Great place for BBQ! While traveling on I-70 my husband noticed a sign for Dempsey's. I went straight to Yelp to see the reviews. After reading the reviews (which were all great), we decided to stop in! As soon as you walk in, you smell the strong aroma of BBQ! At this point, you know you made a great choice! The menu is pretty simple, pulled park, brisket, ribs, chicken. You have different variations of that. I chose the pulled pork and brisket sandwich. I wasn't in the mood for a platter, but decided the sandwich would be enough. And was I right, when the plate came out, there was a massive sandwich along with a huge portion of fries. You have two choices of BBQ sauce (mild and original), the mild is by far the better of the two. Anyways, to sum it up, the food was excellent! I would highly recommend it! read more

Driving through on my way to Columbia. Found this gem on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. Went with sampler platter based on not being able to narrow down my choices. Brisket was moist and pulled pork was full of flavor. Smoked chicken breast had a run on it that was outstanding. Rib I had was moist and meat fell off the bone. The portion size for 15 bucks was above and beyond! Came with fries which were shoestring type (not crispy, but good) got baked beans, ordered Green beans, but no biggy. Texas toast and pickle spear included. Really good bbq just off the highway which makes it easy. Was able to finish off about half of the food. Great place, menu seems limited, but food is strong. Wish they had some type of smoked sausage as well. Place smelled delicious!! Go try it. read more

As of 11/28/14 this place has its address listed as being in Blue Springs. They're really in Concordia, MO 64020. That said - this place is under new ownership. The old place was called Biffles, and the food quality was not very good. This new place has table service and a pretty good menu. I had the pork and brisket combo with baked beans and coleslaw. Very tasty! Portions are generous. My only suggestion would be to offer at least a couple of different sauce options on the table. Someone dining our party had the 1/2 slab of ribs. The portion size can easily feed 2 adults. Staff were very friendly. read more

Best barbecue that I have had in alone time. Great western atmosphere. Love the fireplace and tables. Brisket and pulled pork. They were both excellent. I put the meat on the Texas toast. Amazing. Barbecue sauce is good but very sweet. I asked the waitress if they had anything else and she brought out the spicy barbecue sauce; it was much better. Asked for a couple extra pieces of Texas toast to finish off of meat. Outstanding. read more

We had a Full slab of ribs and the combo sandwich(pulled pork and brisket)! Every thing was really good. It was too much food! The slab of ribs was Huge!! We filled 3 to go boxes up when we left! So we had our Dinner for later that night! And definitely try the French fries. They are homemade. I couldn't stop eating them! read more

For starters, the staff is extremely nice and respectable. There were several people here, but it wasn't overly loud. We had our food within minutes of ordering. With that being said the food itself is ok, but not for the price paid. I ordered the brisket and it tasted like roast beef. I also had a side of broccoli and cheese and the cheese tasted like velvetta. The only thing that tasted great was the Texas toast the BBQ sauce. If you're coming down the highway and don't want fast food it's worth making a stop unless you can hold out for KC or Columbia. If you want legit BBQ I'm not sure if you'll find it here or not. The ribs may be where it's at for Dempsey's, but not the brisket. read more

Wonderful pulled pork. We got the mild sauce which was thick and tangy without being overly sweet. The beans were a little different than your standard Kansas City baked beans but a really nice change almost a little gumboish. My girl says the fries were bomb and I can't argue. Walking in your hip with an intoxicating smell of deliciousness that's hard to pin down. I don't know if I can skip getting barbecue next time I'm in, but the burgers and some bacon on the grill were tempting me pretty hard. I like that it was a little different than most the stuff we have Casey and if it was in town I definitely go back more often. But for now it'll be a place that we want to stop at every time we drive to St. Louis. read more

Easy to reach just off the Interstate, with Casey's gas station in front for an easy fill up too. The food was really good, but the fries were really greasy. We both had the Pulled pork and Briscket combo platter, and it was excellent! Only thing stopping us from rating it with 5 stars were the greasy fries. read more

I don't know how to say this politely, so I'll just say it - this is not good barbecue. I'm pretty sure the Subway at the TA stop across the street makes a better brisket sandwich. We stopped on the way to St Louis and I wish we had kept going. The brisket was super dry, almost like jerky. The mac and cheese was also dry and the noodles were some weird orange color (and not from the sauce). One star for carbonated Sprite, the buttered toast, and the pickle which saved the day (but not my now aching stomach). read more

My wife and I ate here while we were up visiting family and friends. The food was delicious and not pricey. My wife had their pulled pork nachos which said was good; while I had their brisket platter. It has been a while since I'd had a brisket that good. My husband & I were passing thru town and wanted Missouri BBQ. We walked in to Dempsey's wearing our masks as required due to COVID and were greeted with a shout from the counter to sit wherever. The waitress came to our table NOT wearing a mask, taking orders from other tables all without wearing a face covering. Im giving 2 stars because the food was so good. Even if you have no concern for yourself, those you serve may have family members or friends who have experienced the illness & fear. They may have friends or family on a ventilator. This is probably the worst service I've received in my 32 years on this planet. We were a table of 6. It took an hour for our food to come out. Over half of it was cold. Two of us sent our food back due to the absolute lack of warmth. Mine came back the same temperature if not colder. My friends came back warmer but clearly nuked in a microwave. You don't nuke fries, it makes them disgusting. At that point I was done. I pushed the food away and waited. It took over 20 minutes before we got the check and that was because we went and found someone to get it from. No one came by. No one from my group will ever be back to this establishment. Food is absolutely amazing service is ok after they take your order and bring you the food and the drinks they disappear.

First I will start off with the good. The ribs were by far the best thing that I had. Normally I don't like ribs at smokehouses but these were exceptional! The pulled pork was tender and delicious. The sides we're just ok to me and the barbecue sauce was more vinegar-based than I like. Overall I would say this place blows away Arthur Bryant's!
