The food is great. The price for our takeout order was awfully high. We were not given any of the sauces we requested which upset the husband and since we are 45 miles away, I couldn't go back. A year ago, wife and I ate there on our anniversary, I forgot what the problem was, something small, they brought my wife something else, and at the end, they gave us a business card with a discount of some kind on it. Mind you, they fixed the problem, then, they gave us something for free the next time we come in. That's service. Across the board above average flavorful food. My husband and I enjoy the ribs, pulled pork and the sides but we decided to try the smoked chicken wings and they were AMAZING!! Nice Smokey flavor, NOT fatty or rubbery, just delicious. I am giving them three stars for the excellent service and sweet tea refills. I had the two meat combo platter and went with Turkey and brisket, with fried okra and Cole slaw (recommended in another review). It also came with two slices of toasted garlic bread. Did I mention how much I enjoyed the tea and server? I will preface the rest of my review with the disclaimer I am not from here (or there). Let's see... the Turkey was pretty moist but not really any smoke to it. There was no skin so I don't know if they smoke skinless breasts, but it was pretty good deli-quality Turkey. The fried okra was okay. It is pre-breaded, frozen okra, so nothing special. The coleslaw is, meh. They use lettuce in it, I suppose for filler, which has a particular non-cabbage taste, and the sauce could have been out of a bottle. Nothing special. The most disappointing part of my meal was the brisket. It was so very dry and tough. It had obviously been sliced well before it was served (like hours) and there wasn't even an effort made to maintain any sort of moisture. It reminded me of the Sunday dinner roast beef my mom would make for my dad. At least we had gravy. I used the KC BBQ sauce to help me get it down, and that was pretty tasty. This may be the best BBQ in Sedalia, which is unfortunate. If it isn't, then I would strongly suggest the best place find people to use Yelp. read more

So I've seen this place for awhile and decided I wanted BBQ for my birthday and didn't want to drive all the way into Kansas City for it either. We ordered a half rack of ribs for my oldest son, I got the burnt ends sandwich, the wife got the brisket lunch, and we got the whole smoked chicken (really its two breasts with wings attached) for my youngest. Fries, coleslaw, and baked beans rounded out the sides. The ribs were okay, nothing special. The smoked chicken is very good as was the brisket lunch. My son gave up on the ribs and stole most of the wife's brisket so I didn't get to try any, she wished she'd order the dinner. I'm not sure if they do pork burnt ends here, because that wasn't beef in my sandwich. The beans and coleslaw were good, especially the coleslaw. If you read the menu, it says that the fries don't travel well. I'm not sure if them mean to your home or even to you table because they were uninspiring to be sure. For the most part the meal was good, the server was a sweet girl, and the place would've gotten 4 stars, however when I ordered more brisket and a half pound of burnt ends to take home, I discovered once we got home that while the burnt ends were definitely beef this time and better than what was on my sandwich, the "brisket " turned out to be sliced pork. I specifically didn't get any pork because they slice it; I'm not a fan, and I think it's lazy BBQ compared to pulled pork. At least they only charged us for pork and not beef, but I wasn't happy. I really should have read the receipt a lot closer and checked the takeout before we left, but rounding up kids to get them in the car tends to shift priorities. I might come back, but I'll definitely be verifying everything if I'm going to spend over a benjamin on BBQ again. read more

Just tried Bandana's Bar-B-Q for the first time yesterday and it was wonderful food. We did take-a-way, so my comments are in reference to that experience. We enjoyed every food item in our order. We each ordered a two-meat lunch (pork and brisket). It was plenty tender and very tasty. There was a good selection of sauce in the bag. The sides (bbq baked beans, corn, and potato salad) and bread were just delicious. Finally, it was a great deal. Our two meals totaled under $25. No. Don't do this. This isn't good Q. They have a six pack of sauces, none are very good. The KC sauce is thick and syrupy, everyone knows KC sauce is vinegar based: Gates, Bryants, etc... Excluding KC Masterpiece which is the oddball, I don't know about that one. Anyway, after the sauce gimmick they have uninspired menu of average smoked meats. Thick smoke that isn't pleasant that covers their average quality meat. If you've read my reviews you know I'm picky about BBQ. Even Rib Crib(average to poor) has the redeeming quality of all you can eat rib night, but Bandana's is just, well, there serving up the ordinary. Just down the street on Thompson Blvd, in front of Ace hardware is a little kiosk where a man I simply call the 'Barbeque man' serves up the best BBQ in town. read more
