I wish I had better things to say about this place bc I wanted to like it. The wait staff is just so bad and the attention to detail is worse. We ordered drinks ans my son ordered his with no ice. It took quite a while to get our drinks and she didnt remember not to put ice in my kiddos drink. Not a big deal. We all ordered burgers and each one with their own condiment request, which was entirely wrong. The "French fries" are bogus, ans flavorless. They are whole cut potatoes fried. Not a fan, at all. We asked the waitress for napkins and never got them, i asked for a side plate and she gave me a bowl bc it was all they had. We wound up having to ask the hostess for napkins. The burgers were not cooked all the way through which I really didnt appreciate bc she didn't ask or let us know they would still be moving. I couldnt finish it bc that is not my thing. We had went one other time and ordered pizza and they got the toppings completely wrong. So I'd say they need better wait staff with better attention to detail, checking the food before it comes out to the table, giving plates and napkins when appetizers are ordered, refilling drinks when they get low and getting new fries bc no one wants chips with their burger and definitely dont want those weird fries. Great atmosphere. Very clean and new looking. Nice tables and chairs. Great place to watch the game. We stopped in for lunch on superbowl Sunday. The food was great. We split the Italian and Cuban sandwiches in half so we could each try both. They were great. My favorite was the Cuban, because of the smoked pork and mustard bbq sauce. At first I was sad that one of the competitors was closed, I may never eat in a train car again. read more

We stopped here for a bite of lunch when passing through Sedalia. I was hopeful based on the reviews, but overall it was disappointing. The place is pretty tiny with little bitty tables. If you plan to order a lot of food or multiple large pizzas, think twice. But it's nice and clean and offers a long bar with lots of seating. The food was generally just good. Not terrible but nothing really outstanding. I had the V chicken sandwich and my husband had the Diablo burger, both with fries. We started with the fried Mac and cheese appetizer, which had ok flavor but was very greasy and didn't hold together well. The Diablo burger lacked in flavor and wasn't as spicy as we expected. The flavors on the V sandwich were very good, though. I think that was a Win, though I would have put it on a different type of bread. The fries were kind of terrible. They were greasy and mushy, as if they'd been sitting around a while. Service was friendly, but painfully slow. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but maybe it was just an off day. read more

We ate here on July 4th. It was nice they were open on a holiday and thought we would try them since we were traveling. The hostess was just kinda dumb. I asked for a high chair and then she tries to sit us a a high top table in the bar. I'm like we can't sit here with my baby. They didn't really have that many regular tables/booths. But we sat outside. They have a nice patio area. The hostess didn't get us the high chair so we had to go inside and ask. But apparently they only had 1 cook. It wasn't that busy but I wish we were told that they were under staffed because it took 45mins to get our food, for only 2 people. The server was nice and all but we didn't have much time to sit and wait with a baby. read more

Restaurant is near a very busy intersection and outdoor seating is noisy. (Semi trucks, attention-sseking motorcyclists, etc) Our first server came to the table only twice, once to take our order and once, after asking another server to send her over, to have our food sent back because it was wrong. She also deliverd the wrong drinks. A different server delivered the food wrong, a second time. After finishing the food that was right (basically just the sides) and waiting 20 minutes, we had to track down our new server for the bill. Tried this spot for the first time in my 3 years of living in the area. There was only one waitress in, I'm assuming because the weather was nasty out and people called in. We found this place by going thru Sedalia, Mo on the way to the lake. We were wanting something other then fast food but inexpensive. It's a great place to stop if you needed to have a bite and watch the chiefs game on the way home to or from KC . A variety of sandwiches with their home made chips. They always have a discounted special that so far was tasty. I had the nachos which was ok. Needed a little more chicken to give them an "A ". My wife really enjoyed her burger she ordered that had lots of flavor. We stopped last week and shared the Buffalo chicken wrap with chips. It was not over bearing with Buffalo sauce but lots of veggies and filling. Looking forward to trying other menu items and so far I've been impressed with the service, food choices, and taste. Finally got to try out this newer establishment and we were so glad. We both got the V Signature Burger...and wow. I don't usually like a bacon burger, because it frequently overpowers the beef. We come to Sedalia a couple times per year, so we are always looking for something different. Volker's was just ok. It started out strong with the loaded kettle chips - they were delicious! Then it went downhill a bit. The cheese steak sandwich was good, and the burgers were okay. The pizza, though....almost inedible. I stopped in on this snowy night after a hard day of traveling and making sales calls. A bit of a really nice vibe here the place has everybody set up to see a T.V. screen should there be an important game on. The wait staff was very pleasant and I was seated immediately. The Michelob Ultra was cold and fresh and in the background 80's rock was playing low enough to have a nice conversation but loud enough to hear. I chose the Supreme Pizza and Pretzel Bites with Beer Cheese. Everything was really pretty ok and wiped out my hunger. But it was just pretty good, not great. Something tells me the pizza crust and the pretzels came off the Sysco truck and were not made from scratch in the kitchen by a Chef. I've been wrong before but I also spent 101 nights in a hotel last year dining out and you begin to recognize patterns. We ate here over the weekend after a baseball tournament and we had great food and wonderful service for 30 people! We all sat on the outdoor patio and had it all to ourselves. They didn't seemed bothered by having us all there, they hopped right on taking our orders. Lots of variety of food. Me and my husband and 3 kids loved our food. I went on a Sunday of this place's opening weekend, which was the only mistake I made in choosing to eat here. Seems the locals were starving for a little variety, so their inventory had been reduced to burgers only. I had the V-burger (Volker is the family name), which aside from its questionable moniker, was pure gold. The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. It was topped with grilled sweet onions, grilled banana peppers and bacon. The V-burger is served with homemade chips which were crispy and served with v-sauce. Yes they actually call it V Sauce. I guess I should be grateful the family name isn't Donald or Dickerson, but even if it was, this sauce was legit. It has kind of a catsup-mayo taste but it was ideal with the chips. I can't wait to go to this place again when they are better stocked and I can order from the full menu, as I overheard other patrons talking about the sandwiches they had there two days earlier. Give this place a go, I think you'll enjoy the atmosphere and food. A certain boost for the Sedalia cuisine scene. read more
