Good little pub! Great location near MIZZOU to stop and grab a bit to eat. The restaurant is large and spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of local decor! Our server was kind and attentive. We stopped in for lunch and had a 20 minute wait, but once seated we were well cared for through the lunch service. We started with the pretzels and wings as our appetizers. The pretzels were hot, soft and delicious! The wings were classic buffalo wings. - This place was pretty mid; the nachos were super dry (the chicken was dry as hell, it looked like they put shredded cheese on some chips and microwaved it, and we had to ask for queso dip for pour on it to make it somewhat better) the burger was supposed to be medium rare and it came pretty well done it was also dry and pretty flavorless. I didn't have the pizza but my friend said it tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza and that it probably came frozen. - Service was okay, he did his job but forgot my drink I had to ask for it again. - Ambiance was absolutely peak honestly the only reason this place even got a couple stars. The scenery was satisfying and dressed for the holiday season I will definitely come back for some booze on their outside patio. My wife, son and daughter in law went to MIZZOU to a men's basketball game. We made a day of it and went to Flat Branch for a pre-game meal and drinks. The only negative of Flat Branch, is that every time I go there is a long line and a long wait. The wait was 45 minutes for a table but we went to the bar and got seats in about 30 minutes. Flat Branch has an excellent bar with a lot of drink choices. The appetizers and food were very good and the staff was friendly and check in with us several times. It was a fun night and I recommend Flat Branch for your next visit to MIZ-ZOU. read more

I had the summer Brewhouse salad with grilled chicken which was savory and seasoned perfectly. The honey cigarette dressing hit the spot! I was part of a very large party (20+) on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly. The server was really great. He was attentive and efficient. The cream soda was refreshing. The flatbread pizza (pesto sauce with artichokes) was delicious. I really liked the crust. The only thing I'd do differently is to blend the pesto a bit more because I wasn't crazy about the coarse pine nuts or maybe it was garlic--no big deal. I'd come back here for sure. Great service here!!! Our server Annabelle was very nice and she was just in training! You wouldn't be able to tell she did great. The food was pretty good too. What a great find. I discovered this place while visiting the college kids the Friday before a big game. This is walk-able distance from campus so was able to do a quick campus tour to burn off the meal. Good choices of beers. The American IPA and Juicy Hazy hit the spot on one of the hottest days of the year. I ordered the Adobo Pork Burrito. Found in the sandwich section of the menu but felt like a healthy sandwich option. Walked into the restaurant hungry and found the burrito the perfect amount of food. Not too much food. Flavorful meat and fresh veggies. Must save room for dessert!!! The Tiger Stripe Ice Cream is a local ice cream and apparently made at Mizzou. Perfect to share at the table. I will make this place my go-to anytime I visit the kids. read more

Food-wise, we started with some appetizers--onion rings were a hit--and then moved on to the veggie burgers. Now, I've had some killer veggie burgers here before, so my expectations were sky-high. Flat Branch was said to be one of Columbia's best places to eat. Upon our arrival, we walked around the building to find the entrance. The hostess quickly greeted us and provided us a table on the patio. The patio had plenty of shade. The music coming from the speakers was modern and at a low enough tone to be heard, but not interrupt conversation. The atmosphere was laid-back and easy-going. Our waiter quickly arrived at our table and took our drink and food order. He then disappeared for the next 55 minutes. The rest of the patio had additional wait staff that were busy taking care of their tables. The long wait for food must have been unusual because some tables clapped when their food arrived as if they have been waiting as long as we had. After our food arrived, our drinks were delivered to the table. I'd love to experience this establishment again and be able to give it more than three stars. I believe the food would have been better if it was served hot. It had clearly been sitting on the expedition line waiting to be delivered for the bulk of the 55 minutes. I believe the one hour wait for food would have felt like less time had the drink drinks been delivered quickly and our waiter checked on us. New England-Style Crab Cakes: pub made genuine crab meat patties breaded, and deep fried. With chipotle mayonnaise... is what the menu reads. The 4 Silver Dollar sized patties were overcooked and crispy, unlike any preparation method I have encountered in New England. Served at room temperature on a bed of wilted arugula that led me to believe the patties were cooked earlier and placed under a heat lamp. As far as the "pub made" I can give the benefit of the doubt that "pub made" is the wording on the box the cook took them from in the freezer. If made fresh on sight, it wasn't this week. Southwest Chicken Taco Salad; grilled chicken, tortilla strips, lettuce, black, olives, diced tomatoes, cheese, ranch, salsa dressing. The salad was acceptable but the only nod to the Southwest was the tortilla chips. There was no salsa in the ranch and no southwest spices on the chicken. Flat Branch Catfish and Chips: Deep fried cornmeal, battered fish fillets, with fries and tartar sauce. The 4 fillets and fries were sufficient in portion size and the tartar sauce was an addition that was not needed, although delicious. Unfortunately, it was also served at room temperature. Flat Branch Pub Dip; thinly sliced "house smoked", certified Angus beef, sautéed onions, jack cheese, on a sourdough baguette. Served with Au ju and a stout horseradish sauce. The sandwich was terrible. The meat was cold, and was not smoked in that restaurant. The bread was stale. The fries were also cold. Our table had an empty bottle of ketchup, and when we asked the waiter to bring a new bottle, he brought another empty bottle of ketchup. Maybe Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm is the wrong time to try FlatBranch. We will try it again during a dinner service during the week to see if they can be redeemed. read more

This was probably the worst experience that we have had . We have a registered small service dog that goes with us everywhere . We have never had an issue. Recently , we traveled from Maine to Fl & we're always welcomed. Evidently Adam (who would not give us his last name) did not believe that she was a service animal & wasn't interested in seeing her papers. With that being said , we were asked to leave the restaurant. it made for a very uncomfortable & unfriendly environment . read more

Ordered a tenderloin after seeing the table next to me getting one. When it arrived it looked great, great! Eating it was a different story. Tough, leatherlike, all fried breading without the taste of the protein. For the first time in....forever asked the waitress if it was nomally this tough as I tried to pull it apart. She was nice enough to make one on the fly but unfortunatly when the new one arrived it was just a little better. Side wise the fries were some of the best i had! Daughter and wife were very happy with their meals so that is why I averaged the meals to a 3 star. It would be unfair to not recommed the place but very fair to steer folks away from the tenderloin sandwich which unfortunatly was one of the worst i have ever experienced. read more

Sunday evening, 4:30ish, we chose to go to Flat Branch as its local. I ordered the special- Salmon. He ordered a burger & fries. They were sold out of fries at 5 pm? The waitress had to look up and read to me about the sauce on the salmon. In the second bite of salmon I found a sharp bone about an inch long. Ok, that can happen, but I got 2 more bones. Green chile beer? Green chile chicken fingers? Anything is possible over at Flat Branch Pub. Came here on a Monday night in the summer with coworkers on our recent business trip to MIZZOU and wow, this spot had something for everyone. After seeing my coworkers choose inventive brews like the lavender (which is actually purple) and green chile options, I knew I had to go with a flight to properly sample them all. I really enjoyed the lavender and green chile options, but was happy they were just small pours vs. committing to an entire glass. The green chile beer in particular has a real kick to it, so if you're not into spice don't go with this option. Their sour beer was actually on the lighter side which I appreciated, and the Kolsh was darker than what I'd normally expect but still pretty tasty. Service was friendly and prompt enough for this displaced New Yorker. The ambiance was casual, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the cooler night weather. The green chile chicken finger salad really hit the spot even though I'm not sure you can really qualify something like this as a salad. It reminded me of an elevated version of a Wendy's salad...in a good way? Giant pieces of spicy, crispy green chile chicken fingers underneath romaine lettuce with tomatoes, cheese, bacon, onions and ranch dressing. What's not to love? We all split the queso and pico fried ravioli which is unlike anything I've ever come across (in a good way). It's like if a ravioli and a burrito bowl had a baby. read more

Our waiter was Ryan and he was very nice. The food was good- my husband's Reuben had plenty of meat on it and great rye bread. Dressing served on the side. He loved veggies as a side. I got chicken in white wine herb sauce over cranberry rice. The rice was good but would have been great with more cranberries.
