We've never been here before today, and we were excited to try something new! When we walked in we were seated fairly quickly and the restaurant was nice. The waiter was very polite and refilled our drinks a couple times. The reason it was not five stars was because of the food and the price. It was higher priced for food that was just okay. Staying at the Tiger hotel and saw the great reviews for Glenn's Cafe next door and decided to check them out. WOW! Such a neat place, beautiful inside, and clean. The service was great, and attentive. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Breakfast Burger. The chicken was AMAZING, super moist, crispy, juicy, then you combine it with the maple bacon syrup. The food is pretty good and the servers are very nice and will fix any issues you may have, with no complaints! I really love this restaurant because of the beautiful scenery and great ambiance. During my visit I ordered the Chefs burger and fries . Chefs burger- 7/10. The marbling in that patty is really good and it's prominent in its juicy and tenderness. Although the meat alone is good it lacked seasoning. The flavor from the burger mainly came from their house bun that tastes like a croissant! Outside of that it came with cheese, pickles and garlic aioli, which was slightly disappointing. When ordering a burger I assumed it would also come with lettuce and tomatoes, but I guessed wrong. If you need something light on the stomach and aren't looking for a BURGER order this. Fries 6/10- The fries also lacked flavor but the harissa sauce makes up for it. As the ambiance looks nice, and the service was great, the FOOD WAS TERRIBLE!! If you like frozen food then this is your place. Or just pull something out of your own freezer and heat it up until it's overcooked. Let's take about the "two patty" burger. The edges of the entire burger were inedible. Burnt charred to a crisp like charcoal. Two patties??? It was hard to differentiate one thin patty from the next. You get more meat off of a child's Happy Meal burger from McDonald's. The wedge salad is hard to mess up. But I would suggest having the dressing on the side. There was more dressing than lettuce. I think the top of the dressing bottle came off during the pour. As for me, I do usually ask for more dress on the side at other restaurants. But here, I had to take the dressing off my salad and put it to the side. read more

The vegetables...all major mush...had an ok taste...but not great..and with grits...lousy. The shrimp....seem some frozen; lesser grade shrimp. For $27 for the entree, I would've expected something so much better. Another generally poor dish: The jambalaya. Look at the pic....even mixing around...it was such major soupy stuff. Price: $28....same lousy shrimp. Chicken all dry chewy stuff. And there wasn't squat for any quantity. That bowl is more shallow than you realize. We went to Glenn's for dinner. For years we've enjoyed this restaurant and always had good service and great food. This time was different. Sadly, it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. The food was ok, but not the normal great taste that we're used to with Glenn's. The second round of drinks we ordered, never came. After we finished our food, we got the attention of the hostess to cancel our drink order and bring our ticket. They added a 3% fee to our bill for the employee health insurance fund, which made our total bill that much more costly. We will probably try this place again because it's been great in the past, but they must have had an off night. read more

I want lie but we came to Glenn's only for the Southern Sweet dessert and it did not disappoint. If I had to say what's my favorite dessert then I'd say just about anything with booze. We ordered Glenn's famous bread pudding with house-made whiskey sauce, and cinnamon spiced ice cream with an additional scoop of cinnamon spiced ice cream. All this yummy goodness was served in a hot casket iron skillet allowing the ice cream to slowly melt on top of the whiskey sauce and hot bread pudding. It was a perfect ending to our road-trip back to KC with our dogs with a complimentary flute of champagne for each of us. FYI Glenn's outdoor patio is dog-friendly and good for a romantic nights out. The food is good, they adjust/rotate their menu which keeps things exciting. The atmosphere was clean, quiet, friendly. I got some breakfast potatoes and a bacon cheese omelette - the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with some light seasonings to make the perfect breakfast potato. The omelette was also good - not overly cheesy nor too much bacon. But there's no such thing as too much cheese or bacon anyway. The unfortunate part was that it took almost an hour to get our food. It wasn't busy or crowded. Maybe there was something we couldn't see or maybe this is typical, but the wait time does seem unreasonable. They also handed my plate to the wrong person and they had to remake everything, which further delayed an afternoon lunch. Overall, I would try Glenn's again and hopefully it'll be a better experience next time! read more

Glenn's is my go-to every time I'm in town. Their menu hasn't changed much but has good variety and every dish is outstanding. Last night was salmon and salad, filet and seafood gumbo. Nothing left in the plates. For middle of nowhere Missouri, the wine menu is very nice representing Cali, Washington and Oregon (it makes a West Coast guy proud). Ambiance is my only gripe because it's so dang loud it's hard to carry a conversation. They really need some sound dampening up top. We tried Glenn's for breakfast on grad weekend and it was really good! We raved about it to my inlaws who came later in the weekend and we had reservations for the evening of graduation. Especially about their cornbread. We show up for our reservation they are out of everything we wanted to order no cienbread and no other plates including some dessert items and food took forever even though tables were already cleared out. There seemed to be a number of servers and maybe managers around the dining room. bar: They have a great variety of wine and cocktails. My Snapper IPA ($6) was great and a solid tap choice. food: The kitchen is consistent and fantastic. My wife's chicken fried chicken ($16) is a long-time standout. This time, I tried their smoked brisket poor boy ($17). The brisket was simply amazing. I notice they say the BBQ is available in the Twain taproom. If it's the same BBQ from the poor boy, then it's worth a visit. details: Street parking and garage across the street. Exhausted after a long day of travel, I popped in for a bite and was given a welcome taste of champagne to whet my appetite. What a nice idea! Then I had to decide from their amazing wine list. It took me a while. They have some wonderful offerings and my French Merlot was silky and smooth - so good I savored every sip and then had to order one more as a night cap! The menu here is a touch of southern and cajun cuisine. I ordered the nouvelle cakes which is a take on crab cakes. I loved their crispy exterior but found them bland and heavy. I also tried an order of cornbread which was helped by loads of butter. Typical for me, when I'm over-hungry and over-tired, I tend to order wrong and I chalk up my mediocre meal to this tendency. When I next return, I will definitely stop back here to Glenn's and suggest you give it a try! We rented out the private room for a birthday brunch celebration. The staff was very kind and helpful throughout our experience! Also has a very nice relaxing ambiance. As for the food it was all pretty solid. I got the open face which was tasty and the grits which were decent. A lot of the things there has unique spins like the ketchup had some seasoning in it to make it more interesting and the syrup that came with a family members meal was bacon syrup and had a unique flavor. The service was very good but our meals were not up to par. My husband had the original breakfast with potatoes, over easy weeks, sausage and a biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was a big add a softball and hard as a softball. He couldn't even eat it because it was so hard. The server apologized and dad it was from a bad batch. I had Salmon Caesar salad. A couple of our friends took us for brunch during our short stay in town and I can see why. Let's start with the waffle. My husband is a waffle connoisseur of sorts, he said it was the perfect waffle, crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The biscuit and gravy for the table was a great choice, the biscuits were huge! I was raised on biscuits and gravy so I'm a little critical but it was really good, not too much pepper and nice sized chunks of sausage. The only dish that left me wanting more was the quiche, it had been a little over cooked so the eggs were rubbery and the crust was underbaked. The good-Caesar salad, burger and shrimp and grits. The bad-Crawfish popcorn was decent, but the remoulade was bland. Shrimp creole was burnt, steak was overcooked, and the jambalaya was one of the worst I've had--no spice, little flavor, and finely diced protein. First of all, if it's a game weekend in Columbia, make reservations. They had just opened and were asked if we had reservations--did not think we needed any. We got seated quickly. But tables were getting full fast, or were reserved. Good service, the waitress and a trainee and they were both attentive. Just a little slow, it's understandable. It is a bit on the expensive side. And I was disappointed that in the brunch menus they had beignets and it was within an hour of opening and they were out. Aka they did not make any. Hmm. The location is perfect, and the beautiful elegant decor. I have been there many mornings to have a good breakfast after a hard bike ride.
