Staying at the Tiger hotel and saw the great reviews for Glenn's Cafe next door and decided to check them out. WOW! Such a neat place, beautiful inside, and clean. The service was great, and attentive. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Breakfast Burger. The chicken was AMAZING, super moist, crispy, juicy, then you combine it with the maple bacon syrup. Wow. I was in heaven. The burger was also so delicious and they even make their own ketchup; which was great. We certainly will come back here when in town again!

The food is pretty good and the servers are very nice and will fix any issues you may have, with no complaints! I really love this restaurant because of the beautiful scenery and great ambiance. During my visit I ordered the Chefs burger and fries . Chefs burger- 7/10. The marbling in that patty is really good and it's prominent in its juicy and tenderness. Although the meat alone is good it lacked seasoning. The flavor from the burger mainly came from their house bun that tastes like a croissant! Outside of that it came with cheese, pickles and garlic aioli, which was slightly disappointing. When ordering a burger I assumed it would also come with lettuce and tomatoes, but I guessed wrong. If you need something light on the stomach and aren't looking for a BURGER order this. Fries 6/10- The fries also lacked flavor but the harissa sauce makes up for it. I also am not a fan of limp fries and prefer a crunch but we can't always get what we want. Overall it's a nice restaurant and a great spot to come and relax.

Unfortunately and at least on this day, (3) stars is a gift rating. I gave (3) stars, for the biscuit and gravy. The best thing: biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was pretty darn good. The gravy was good...nice texture...good sausage. But was lacking a better salt and pepper level. The worst thing: The shrimp and grits. Absolutely bland/flavorless grits. The vegetables...all major mush...had an ok taste...but not great..and with grits...lousy. The shrimp....seem some frozen; lesser grade shrimp. For $27 for the entree, I would've expected something so much better. Another generally poor dish: The jambalaya. Look at the pic....even mixing around...it was such major soupy stuff. Price: $28....same lousy shrimp. Chicken all dry chewy stuff. And there wasn't squat for any quantity. That bowl is more shallow than you realize. I'm always a sucker for the old-time places...and I always (want) them to be (great). This one...majorly missed the mark.

Our server was wonderful and my daughter has found a fabulous spot to grab oysters when she is a way at college. The shortrib was absolutely incredible!

I want lie but we came to Glenn's only for the Southern Sweet dessert and it did not disappoint. If I had to say what's my favorite dessert then I'd say just about anything with booze. We ordered Glenn's famous bread pudding with house-made whiskey sauce, and cinnamon spiced ice cream with an additional scoop of cinnamon spiced ice cream. All this yummy goodness was served in a hot casket iron skillet allowing the ice cream to slowly melt on top of the whiskey sauce and hot bread pudding. It was a perfect ending to our road-trip back to KC with our dogs with a complimentary flute of champagne for each of us. FYI Glenn's outdoor patio is dog-friendly and good for a romantic nights out. Apparently, our serve mentioned people have a tendency to stop by on a date or others just to get their Southern Sweet desserts.

This cafe waited LONG time just to be seated. Today we waited 90mins, then another 1hr to get our food. Service is slow, and food is just so-so. Hope they will have better efficient way of reservation systems.

Don't go if it's a busy weekend . This restaurant seems incapable of delivering hot food that tastes good when they are at capacity.

Ask the Community - Glenn's Cafe

Do they have a kids menu?

They have 3 kids items. 1. Chicken strips and choice of fries 2. Grilled cheese and choice of fries 3. A smaller version of their Mac and cheese. For breakfast/brunch there are many small side dishes good for kids like a fruit cup, large cinnamon…

Would this be a good place for Christmas brunch?

Yes this is an egg-celent place for brunch. The food is delicious and the service is great.

Beautiful spot, but $500 fine-dining prices with diner-level execution…read more Where to start. We've been coming here by boat for years. Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon.
