Lunch was interesting today at steak and shake. The service was quick and attentive when we placed our order but the entire restaurant looked VERY dirty. The floors looked mopped quickly but that was about it for what looked to be recently cleaned. The food was not very good. Since they had just opened I thought the quality would have been much higher. We were expecting alot better than what we experienced this time. Might be a while before I come back again. read more

It has been a very long time eating at a Steak n Shake. So tight we would come here in the way to our destination. Everyone was nice and they were all working hard as it was busy. Someone brought the food to our table after you order at the counter. The food was good, had cheeseburger and fries and also had a chocolate shake. My shake was not delivered even though it's on the ticket. I saw it sitting on the counter and had to ask the cashier I didn't receive it. She was apologetic and handed it to me, she forgot the straw though. Had to grab one from behind the counter, was tired of having to ask for things. The place was also kinda dirty. The floors and tables didn't look clean. The high chair we used for my toddler was gross even though they given us a "clean" one. The bathrooms were dirty looking too. The changing table was really gross. I'm glad I have these pads with me aside had to put my toddler on it so she wouldn't be touching the gross surface. Don't think we will want to rest inside again. Steak 'n Shake is the place to go if you are looking for a cheap burger meal and ice cream. The hubs and I sat at the countertop and waited far too long to be waited on. Our server, when she arrived, was pleasant and friendly. The burgers are the way most people like them, greasy, and they have several options. If you are looking for different options such as sandwiches, salads, etc. you won't get much choice here. Currently, Steak 'n Shake is offering a fish sandwich or fish planks. Going for the rare non-burger option, I opted for the fish sandwich. The sandwich was simply two fish planks on a bun. Unfortunately for me, the fish wasn't that great. Our ice cream wasn't blended very well so we had flavorful shakes on the top and vanilla shakes on the bottom. Overall, I will probably pick a new joint next time. Happy eating Yelpers! read more

And was very hateful in tone and demeanor. Was handed a lrg drink, and my husband just wanted to make sure there was a second drink. She was correcting it. Which was great. I can be hateful at times. My husband is the exact opposite. He's very patient, and well spoken. She proceeded to get more hateful. "If you would just wait, I can't control the belt. It's getting made now." Thos place is a zoo! People wait in line go 15 min in line to order food while people behind you in line take all the seats. Tables aren't cleaned off so you have to clean it yourself just to sit down. My family comes here a lot but today was the most horrible I have ever seen this place! Stopped by Sunday night, to order 2 meals at the drive through. After a lengthy wait, they finally took my order. Pulled up to the window and watched the prep of my burger. I had left off onions as I am allergic. Girl dressing the burger put onions on it while I watched at the window. I advised the cashier that I had not ordered onions but witnessed her putting them on. The guy handed me $4.00 cash to settle it. Had I waited for a new burger the cook sitting on the counter would have had to get up and and make another burger this my daughters meal and my fries would be cold or eaten before I got the replacement burger. Me and the family had dinner here recently while driving across the state. Everything I ate has was good, but the burgers were a little on the skinny side. I've been to several Steak & Shakes in my day, and they all are pretty much the same...except this one and let me tell you why. We went in on Saturday after Thanksgiving around 1'ish in the afternoon. They were BUSY. We walked in, and there was a couple in front of us. They got seated, then it was our turn. So the young girl seating everyone, asked us to give her a second. She went over to a table, bussed it, then sat us there. Here's what she did that amazed us: she ran her booty off!! She was running around busing tables, seating people, and all the time being super pleasant and friendly. She was quick and efficient - she was never not moving! It is sad how rare we see that now. They gave it to me with onions and I asked for them to make me a new one and then they just scraped all the onions off which then also scraped all the BBQ sauce off so it was just a regular burger. A frequent choice for me when I'm in Sedalia. The quality of the food is good and the prices are surprisingly low for the quality. I would pay a little more for the option of some larger portions, however. Breakfast is a different story, as you can stuff yourself silly on good breakfast food relatively cheaply here. My only complaint is the noise level, which is exceptionally high and often bothersome. They could due to turn down their music a little. BAIT & SWITCH artists to say the least! As you're coming into town off Hwy 50 you see a HUGE billboard sign stating that ALL Meals are under $4. The word "ALL" was underlined and every letter capitalized. Being a truck driver I'm up for trying new places to eat, especially if it'll stretch my hard earned money. I park my rig in our yard and take my personal vehicle through the drive through and order the #1 (double cheeseburger) meal and proceed to the 1st window to pay. To my surprise, the said meal costed me $5.79, $6.26 with tax. So i thought i read the billboard sign wrong and continued on, paying and taking my food. This morning I'm coming back into town again and I zeroed in on the billboard ensuring what I initially seen was correct. There wasn't any "exceptions" or "clauses" listed as it merely stated "ALL Meals under $4". So I immediately call the establishment and complained to the on duty manager. She asked if I had ordered a drink and I replied that I ordered the #1 meal. Then she said that "no meals come with drinks" and that #1 came with a drink. She apologized for my inconvenience but frankly, that's just lip service masking the BAIT AND SWITCH corporate advertising.
