This is a full-service, American Chinese buffet. The restaurant is on the smallish size for restaurants of this type but the selections were well-represented and tasty. They do carry-out as well, but that requires going inside and loading up a Styrofoam take-out box if you didn't want to order ahead. There are tables and booths, but not a lot of them. The prices are much less than we have recently experienced. We were attending an RV rally at the time. For a delicious, convenient and modestly price restaurant, you are unlikely to go wrong by coming to the Fortune Palace. read more

There are not enough words in the English language to describe how absolutely terrible this place truly is! I honestly don't know how it stays open. It is located in an extremely old building with nothing but potholes for a parking lot. When you go in you immediately get a sense of dread because it is a very enclosed, claustrophobic space. But if you are adventurous enough to order food, the fun really begins. I have eaten in several Chinese restaurants but I have never encountered any food like this place. It really is just very ill prepared garbage that looks unappealing and tastes worse. I didn't see the kitchen and I'm sure I would be appalled by it if I did. The bottom line is just save your money and drive to a real Chinese restaurant. This is NOT one. read more

The food is ok, the service is ok. The building is old. But the issue is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. They are disgusting. I'm not talking about a little dirty from a days use. I'm talking about years of build up, absolutely deplorable. Makes me wonder, if they can't clean a bathroom, what condition is the kitchen in. read more

Server really nice the booth table a lot of ads, but it's all right the food great except the sugar bread. They put a lot of sugar on it the dessert nice except the sushi a little icky taste but all right the bathroom not so good. The floors were sticky, but the rest of the bathroom was all right. read more

The building is run down but I thought maybe the food was good, NOT! The food was cold and didn't taste quite right! After my spouse returned from the restroom she had lost her appetite. She said it was the filthiest restroom she had ever seen. After driving 10 miles down the road she was sick and had Montezuma's revenge! Never going back. read more

Not bad for a rural town buffet in terms of selection, taste and freshness, but the hygienic conditions of the restaurant could use some real tlc soon. read more

We loved this place! We had been biking all day on the Katy Trail, and were looking for a place to grab some dinner on the way home. Much to our dismay, we had forgotten our bike locks, and didn't feel comfortable leaving them on the rack in the parking lot while we went inside to eat. We discovered that everything on the buffet was available to go, purchased by the pound. So we each filled a container, paid for a bottle of water, and ate some of our food in the parking lot before starting to drive back to Kansas City. Between the two of us, we tried several items and all were delicious! I had the General's chicken, an egg roll, crab Rangoon, and a couple of other things. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. Highly recommend. Almost to the point of making the hour plus drive just to eat there. read more

I thought I'd try fortune Palace one more. When I was driving past, I saw the parking lot was full so I thought perhaps the food will be hot this time . Not on your knife the food was stone cold I will not be coming in this place anymore three or four times bitten two or five times shy never again so I don't know how they're getting in all these good reviews, but not for me. Bring back the old management or the old owners that was good. Are you still not coming in in this place no more read more

The service was good and we were seated fairly quickly. The food tasted good but was cold. Idk if their warmers are working properly.

Excellent food, has everything you'd expect or want at a Chinese food buffet. The service was top notch, they brought me a refill right as I finished my my drink. Price was reasonable. read more

We've eaten here many times in the past and was very pleased. After it changed owners we noticed a definite change in the quality of food. Last Saturday we ordered carry out for three of us, my order was chicken cashew and egg rolls. Taking three bites of the chicken cashew, was unable to swallow any of them due to the chicken was mostly chicken skin or small pieces of chicken attached to fat or skin. I didn't attempt to eat more of the disgusting meal. The egg rolls were okay, nothing special. I won't be going back due to the disgusting chicken cashew. read more

This place was so good! Staff were so friendly and helpful! We ate take out from the buffet. It was very reasonable at $8.99 per lb. Vegetarian options were abundant. The food was getting re filled quickly on the buffet and the place was very tidy. definitely going back next time we are in town. read more

Since the new owners the place has changed and so has the food I think the quality of freshness is lacking and the taste is bland for Chinese food. I think the name should have changed when new owners took over read more

I went there today, and was amazed how large their Buffet was. The food was excellent and the place was packed. I ate a lot more than I usually do because the food was good and hot. The wait staff they were all over this place if they were not replacing food they were with customers. read more

My first time in was on Black Friday, for the lunch buffet. My husband had been in a few times before for lunch and enjoyed it. The waitress was so cheerful and friendly! She recognized my husband from his few times in previously and seemed genuinely happy to meet his wife and step daughter. It was almost heart warming to see her welcome in others that had been in before and strike up a brief conversation with them. Great customer service plays a big part in wanting to come back again, especially when there are other options available in town. Fortune Palace is definitely getting this right! Food was good, fresh, and many choices available. Very reasonable price for the lunchtime buffet, coupled with the good food and welcoming atmosphere, will definitely have us coming back again! read more

I went for lunch buffet in spite of having misgivings, because other Sedalia Chinese places had low reviews too. I will start off saying the food is ok. I would say mediocre. But the service was excellent and the ladies that run the restaurant were really nice and that goes a long way for me. And my son thought it was delicious, hence four stars. It's worth trying to see if you want to go back. read more

Good food for a small variety buffet, usually get a lunch plate to go. Friendly staff and great service

Great food, Awesome Service! These are some of the best people you will meet, highly recommend

Trash food. Sorry. Minimum selection of food. Food wasn't kept well heated. The environment was very cold. Waiter was friendly and attentive, but that's the only good thing. Won't come back. read more

I like their food but they needa change the hours or let people know they close an hour early!

Used to be a great place to go and eat dinner with family, now they're charging 10 year olds and up as adults for dinner we'll not be going back!! Amazing how any other time kids are a different price, and now with new ownership I guess ONE price fits ALL. Just horrible!!! 12.85 for 2 kids. read more

Love the food. Dislike the woman who's up front usually. The one who doesn't leave you alone. She's nice but i feel uncomfortable her constantly commenting on our looks read more

Not only the best Asian buffet I've had in Sedalia, but quite possibly the best I've ever had. It's always fresh, hot, flavorful, and always busy, because it's so good and also keeping it fresh! Genuinely nice people who work there! I'm never disappointed. Give it a try. You won't be sorry, read more

I would say this is the best Asian buffet in Sedalia.. tried out all the other ones, this was the freshest and most flavorful, has coconut shrimp, couple options for noodles, baked crab salad.. when I'm craving Asian food this will the best place.. read more

I absolutely love this place! Best Chinese in town! The staff is beyond friendly and the food is always delicious. We eat there so often that the waitress knows my entire family. read more

We placed a sizeable order. Not pleased with each item. The quart of wonton soup was half-filled with liquid and only received 4 wontons. The lo-mein was overcooked also lacked flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was way overcooked. Not golden brown. Hard to chew. The remaining items all seemed tasteless and for the decent amount of money spent, we will order from another location in town. We wanted to support local business in the area during covid. We gave it a try and are moving on to a more reliable location. Maybe it's better if we try the buffet when things roll back to normal. Overall it was very blah and the amount of food for the price was disappointing. read more

Okay food with a good price just not a very good selection wouldn't come here very often.

After trying this places buffet the first time I was not impressed. The food was mediocre at it's best and the temperature was cold to lukewarm. I had decided to abstain from ever coming back again. About a year or so later a friend of mine had commented that she had been there and thought that it had improved and I should give it another try. I decided to give it another go and went there at the height of the lunch hour on a Monday at approximately 12:35pm. I should have seen the light when there was only one patron sitting by himself at a table. Once again I had found the same results as my previous trip, only it had decreased in quality even more and the food was cold and dried out. I don't see how at this time of day that a buffet should be so poor. How do they survive the food industry in an area with so much competition? If you do give this establishment a try make sure that you have a second choice in mind to retreat to. Good luck. read more
