Great bbq! I had the regular pulled pork sandwich (the special of the day). It was moist and tender. It was great with and without their homemade bbq sauce. They have a bunch of homemade sides, including a very creamy macaroni and cheese. What to expect: You walk in and place your order at the counter. Drinks are self-serve. You have a seat and they bring your food out to you quickly. They also have a covered outdoor seating area. Staff: Super friendly! If you're near downtown Marshall, STOP here! (During normal business hours, of course.) The pulled pork was wonderfully moist and smoky. It also had a light taste of The Brick's own pork rub. When smoked meat is this good it doesn't need sauce so I was glad I'd ordered the sweet sauce on the side. I was also glad to have the sauce on the side so I could use it as a dip for the perfectly seasoned, hand-cut fries. In fact, I'd pretty much gone through the fries before I really got into the sandwich. My only regret is I'm not in Marshall enough to get back to Brick BBQ anytime soon. read more

I REALLY ENJOYED home-made fries! My pulled pork sandwich had a few bites that told me this meat had been refrigerated and re-heated (maybe more than once). Not real tasty, but OK. The sauces were great. Actually helped me get through the warmed-up flavor of pork. Friendly place. I wish I could give them 5 stars, but can't. Here is the breakdown- The actual product is without much smoke, tough and dry, the spicy sauce is just north of terrible, the sweet sauce is marginal, the Texas toast was slapped with vegetable oil and burnt on the flat top. ok that said, the fries were hand cut and GOoD - hence 2 stars. order accuracy was terrible with no effort of correcting it. Kitchen was sloooow by measure for any bbq joint. Also the to-go execution was off, the poor use of styrofoam clamshells and plastic bags seems like a good food service idea, but sucks on execution = soggy fries (steamed). read more

This place was a great find on our trip to visit Missouri Valley College. I was hard pressed to think of a better barbecue experience I have had in my life. The ribs were out of this world, flavorful and perfectly prepared. The pulled pork and sides were also solid and a great compliment to the ribs. I live in Kansas City and am a pretty big BBQ snob. This place is easily up there with some of the best places in KC. The brisket and burnt ends are my favorites, but the pulled pork is some of the best I've had too. Great sides and really good sauce too. Well, I had high hopes. I added this joint to Yelp. In town on a project for work. Marshall is a small sleepy town with not a lot of choices for food. Rode by this place just off the town square and it has the look. Service was friendly and very good. You come in by the counter and order and get a number then they bring it out. Self service on the drinks. They went out of the way to sell me a gallon of iced tea. I tried the St. Louis cut ribs, slice brisket, hand cut fries, and potato salad. Let's just agree that the meats were disappointing in the extreme. First off you don't slice either of these meats until they are ordered. These had been sliced since the day before it seemed. Very dry shall we say. The brisket just wasn't worth putting in your mouth. The ribs had good flavor sometime. Had all the right seasoning but were very dry. I know I came at a bad time of day - 2 pm. After lunch and before dinner. But that can't excuse it all. The fries and toast were very good - better than most. The potato salad was under seasoned but OK. I will try them again and report back. Will come back at a busier time of day. So the meat will be turning. Not expecting much if they server what I got today but there isn't much in Marshall to choose from. Just so you know I am a certified BBQ judge as certified by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. This place had a line to the door so what I'm about to write must mean....1. I'm a BBQ snob 2. It was a bad day, or 3. This is the best they have to offer in Marshall. I had the ribs, brisket, baked beans, and mac -n- cheese. First thought it smelled really good as I was driving home, and I hoped it was as good as it smells. This is where is goes down hill. The ribs were very dry, and some bites were even tough. Seems like they had been setting way too long or over cooked. The flavor was good, but ribs shouldn't be dry or even crunchy. The brisket was much of the same. It was very dry, and although tender, didn't have much taste. It also seemed as if it had been sitting too long. The sauce was not special at all, and was supposed to be spicy. It wasn't. It was good enough to smear on the ribs, and brisket to give it taste. The baked bean and mac-n-cheese were better the average that was probably the highlight. The service and restaurant was very nice and friendly. I hope it was just a bad batch, and I will go back and try it again just too see. But was not impressed by this visit. read more

Dinner last night was fantastic again. I had the beef brisket and smoked turkey, my wife had the same, one of my sons had ribs and brisket while the other had pulled pork. The entrees were hot, drinks cold and the place was hopping. A great place to visit if your in town to see kids at the local college. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The drinks are self serve except for the beer. No pressure from the wait staff and the music wasn't loud. Quality food, good prices, always a must when stopping in Marshall. Was in Marshall on business and looking for a good meal. The Brick was suggested by the lady behind the desk at the motel. I ordered a side of fried pickles and a meal called "The Farmer." A half slab of ribs and a meat of choice. I've never tried burnt ends so it was a no brainer. Pickles were good and so was the meat. I expected more out of a burnt ends but they were my first, how can I compare? All in all, the food was good and the service was friendly. I can't say the food agreed with my system later in the night but we all need some sit down time to catch up on some reading. read more

I have traveled all over the USA, as well as Europe and the Caribbean, and have lived in Missouri, the South, and West. I think at this time in my life I know what is good or bad food. This is good BBQ! We have visited this place several times and it is consistent. The meat has great flavor on its own, but is made better with the sauce. We have had the ribs, pulled pork, and beef. The sides taste great as well. The owners are always nice and very friendly, which makes the whole experience even better and worth the visit. read more
