Super awesome BBQ spot in downtown Columbia. Excellent meat (get there early for the brisket) and good sides. Pork belly burnt ends were really luscious, pulled pork was delicious and tender. Coleslaw was excellent. Even better if they had some cornbread or Texas toast. Fast, friendly service and a cool dining room. read more

Was in a few months ago. Food was mediocre. Brisket was dry. Staff were fine I guess. But I really didn't like the overall vibe. Especially given the high prices for small portions of basic food. read more

Oh baby First the gals working were fantastic helping me as it was my first time. Ordered smoked wings, ribs, brisket, slaw, and greens It was 5* and I will be back next time in town read more

Food is actually good (over priced, but to be expected with downtown), but some of the time unannounced the restaurant will just be closed. The past two times I have tried to go they have been unexpectedly closed (they say they are open on google and on their door they say they are open). Today, 6 PM on a Friday they are fully closed, lights off and everything. Last time, I could see people working in the restaurant but at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, door is locked. They say they are open 7 days/week but that is a LIE. I've had this happen on four separate occasions now. Maybe I just don't know where to look, but these random closures don't seem to be posted ANYWHERE and are infuriating. I hope they can get this figured out because as I said above the food is quite good. read more

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had! Bud's has a large menu to choose from- what is unique about this place is how many fun BBQ sandwiches they have on the menu, including a grilled cheese pulled pork sandwich and BBQ burrito that is about the size of my head! The location of Bud's couldn't be more perfect- close to the university and downtown. The atmosphere inside is wonderful with large TV's everywhere and a fully stocked bar with any drink you can think of- a great game day atmosphere! The service was so friendly and the owner or manager came over to make sure we were doing well. This was our second time coming here and it did not disappoint. We will be back :) read more

So I'm not the biggest barbecue fan, but this place is pretty good. I think it's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's delicious. Service is okay. I'm not a fan of how the menu is set up on posters on the wall, as it's a bit hard to read overall. - Tiger king sandwich (4.5/5): I've had this with the brisket and another time substituted the brisket for pulled pork. It was so yummy! The white sauce is delicious, creamy and amazing flavor. The meat is tender, cooked well. Onion straws add the perfect crunch. I am not a fan of the sweet barbecue sauce but everything else was amazing! read more

I got a pulled pork sandwich, a side of tater tot casserole, and a Yuengling. The bbq was fantastic! I would love to go back and try the brisket and burnt ends. The tater tot casserole left a little to be desired, but I was still happy I tried the place. And, I would absolutely go back. read more

This place has a great feel to it, very updated interior, plenty of drink choices, the service was great, got a couple of good recommendations from the hostess. The chicken was delicious and crispy, my sandwich was loaded and the gold sauce was great. I will say the sides are kinda small for what you pay for the entree combos or even the sandwiches. Especially considering an extra side is 4.50+ Will I return yes, but for price reasons not very often... read more

Do NOT come here if u have any large groups or plan to try and eat with your family. The ordering and seating process does NOT allow for you to get a seat before you have your food. So, you order your food only to find that there are no tables available. If you try to sit before you've ordered a manager will literally come tell you that you have to get up and leave the table. Steer clear. read more

It was a decent meal. I can't really recommend it nor will I probably go back. They were out of a ton of stuff when I tried ordering(I probably tried getting 3 things before they finally had the fourth). The barbeque was good and I enjoyed my meal but nothing special I felt. If it was cheaper maybe I'd try going again but for the price, it was just underwhelming. The atmosphere was fun and conveniently located downtown. Has plenty of TV's in case games are on. The owner was a really cool guy, he seemed all in on his business which is always refreshing and he was very friendly. read more

Honestly the food wasn't even that good but the owner was terribly rude. He told me I wasn't allowed to sit at this one table because I hadn't gotten my food yet, then a man did the same thing and he did absolutely nothing. The best way to say it is he is sexist. Have not gone back and will never go back. read more

Came on a late Saturday afternoon, when we walked in we were told they had just had a big rush and were sold out of all except the pulled pork and the smoked chicken. We ordered those, Mac and cheese and house made chips plus 2 fountain drinks. Omg $45 later. The plates came out pretty quick. You get 3 drumsticks that are fairly big. The pulled pork did not come with a bun or bread. The bbq sauce is very vinegar strong. I like vinegar but wow. It was ok, but for the price I'd expect a little more food. read more

Food wise this place is a hard 1/5 but everything else kind of makes up for it. I will say I'm from Kansas City so I consider myself a little bit of a bbq snob and this place just wasn't it. The good: The atmosphere is so cool it is worth going back to for drinks. The service was good and the owner (I think) came and talked with us which I appreciated. They have cocktails on draft and plenty of options to choose from. The bad: I hated the sauce, it was way too sweet. The meat was pretty dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. I got the new mac and cheese and it was kind of cold but not bad. Not really worth the price. read more

Finally a place downtown for bbq! Great concept for brunch, lunch, and dinner. All the classic sandwiches, plates, and sides. A bit pricy for what it is and portion sizes. All the reviews say that the owner goes around and kicks people out if you're just sitting around, which is tough on game days. We didn't come with any games on so didn't experience this. Service was good for us! read more

I'm not sure I've ever given a 1 star review. This place..was a joke. The building itself is awesome and could be something really awesome. The food, not so much. It was cinco de Mayo so their choices were EXTREMELY limited. I was okay with that. Ordered the burnt ends, wanted a good side with it. Only offered Mexican corn and Mexican rice that day. Decided I'd give the corn a try. My aunt ordered smoked chicken tacos with Mexican corn. The service was quick, food came out fast. Of course it did, look at the portions. 4 little burnt ends for $20, 2 sloppy slop tacos for $18. The burnt ends were mainly fat, the few pieces of meat I got were decent. The tacos were flavorless and slop. The Mexican corn tasted like corn in vinegar; not good! For The prices, this place needs to work on portion sizes. I would not recommend wasting your money here. read more

Ok BBQ. Slow service. Limited menu and was told we couldn't customize. Not impressed.

I used to say that CoMo Smoke and Fire was clearly the best BBQ in town, but ever since Bud's opened up, they've been giving em a run for their money. Every time I've gone to Bud's has been fantastic! My favorite item on the menu is the smoked chicken. It's not as heavily advertised as their brisket or pulled pork but I think it's objectively the best thing on the menu. It's a must order every time I go. Make sure to ask for a side of their Alabama white sauce with it! The pulled pork is the next best in my opinion. Their location on Ninth is super ideal and the design of the restaurant is second to none in CoMo. read more

Great food and an even better owner. Can't say enough good things about the food here. It's a must stop.

Came in after football game, tables open all over but no room at bar. We sat down to have drinks at a table and when tables filled in next hour we were asked to leave because we would not order food. We said we would move to the bar when seats came open but they said no and asked us to leave. Highly recommend going somewhere where they respect their customers. read more

Didn't feel welcomed as an LGBT patron. I like the barbecue from Texas, but wish they would have left the conservative values there. Completely got the cold shoulder from the owner, even when raising a significant problem with the meal. Now I'm wondering if that was intentional. read more

This place knows how to do TRUE barbecue! The owner, a Texas native, is always there with not just a friendly face but a strong commitment to put out the BEST barbecue. Get to Bud's early if you want to try the brisket because they sell out every day. Their pickles, pickled onions and frankly all of their sides (honey biscuit, tangy slaw, fries, etc) go well with any of the items on the menu. We have had the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich topped with tangy slaw and they are both delicious. The ribs are perfect, you can taste the love! Go check this place out on campus and see for yourself. read more

Food was excellent, service was fantastic. As a first time visitor they make you feel comfortable with everything and great explanations.

The food was delicious and the customer service was great! Had a great menu selection an awesome bar with sports showing on large screens.

After returning to give this place a second chance, the food did not disappoint. Hands down the best brisket you will find outside of Kansas City. The corn is great as well. A little pricier than most things in a college town but the good barbecue is worth the money. I wish the Tres leches was more like they do at Chuys. read more

I had heard one great recommendation after another on Bud's, so I knew I had to try it out! Went with a few friends and got the queso burger (I know not BBQ), pork fries, and mac n cheese. And let me tell you, each of these items were DELICIOUS!!!! I also got a prickly pear cocktail that tasted like a pink starburst, yum! My friends also said their dishes were amazing too! Service was quick, attentive, and friendly! I also loved seeing the owner walk around and greet guests. Made you feel closer to the new local spot. The ambience was fitting for a cute casual nice or even something slightly dressy if you like! The bar was beautiful, so enticing from the street! Love that it's put right in the center of town. Often in town visiting our family from out of state and they recommended this place. It definitely did not disappoint and has been add to the must have list when in town. The brisket is incredible so tender and full of flavor no sauce needed. I also highly recommend the honey butter biscuits and green bean casserole is available. You really cannot go wrong with what you order here it's all delicious! The staff were so kind and welcoming taking the time to show us around and explain the menu. Very average. First time to this place with my two college age sones and sorry, I really want to like this place...great location across street from campus, great atmosphere, host location for Tiger Talk...but very average bbq and what I consider very high prices for the quality and quantity. Wings were good but $16.99. Pulled pork sandwich was good...college student special for $12. I don't recommend the pork belly burnt ends, I know its pork belly but way too fatty, almost no meat and price is $20.99 which included good fries but very small portion. Side of fries was also very small portion and they were $4.99. Overall, I'd go back but won't go very often. read more

Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic ambiance! This restaurant has some of the most phenomenal employees, who were so kind to my group and I.
