1/2 Slab of Ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Green Beans
Nhu N.

Big Daddy's BBQ is THE BEST BBQ in Columbia hands down. The staff there are so upbeat, lively, friendly, and ready to help. From the second I walked in they were smiling, willing to give suggestions, and joking amongst each other. There is plenty of seating inside and the establishment is super clean. The food is AMAZING the fried fish is one of the best I've ever had. It was made to order, crispy, and flavorful. The ribs and brisket were tender, flavorful, and the bbq sauce was tasty. My favorite side by far are the green beans. They were so tasty and my go to side. The Mac and cheese was also amazing. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. I've been back several times since my first time here and recommend it to everyone!

Old school style location, order you ribs or tips and sides and see them make your plate, diner feel to seating, good food, my rib tips gently fell off the bone.

You order at the counter, take a number to your table, and the rest is basically self service besides them bringing your food out. I ordered the grilled chicken thigh platter and was honestly really underwhelmed. The chicken barely had any flavor at all. The sauces they gave helped save the meal a little, but even then I still wasn't very happy with it. Now let me talk about the BBQ pulled pork nachos because those were amazing. You get the spice from the jalapeños, the crunch from the chips, the sweetness from the BBQ sauce, the creaminess from the nacho cheese, and the savory flavor from the pulled pork. Everything together was honestly a party in your mouth.

Their passion for culinary innovation is very obvious. Highly recommend this experience. Both the tequila and rum flights are so worth it. Since we have been twice we have tried a few things and everything has been excellent. Bartender and staff know their stuff and give great suggestions. We have tried the platters and a torta and the meats on both where outstanding. The spoon bread and the sweet potato sides are a MUST, and the brownie dessert is definitely the best way to end the meal.

The Rice Noodled (japchae) had a robust flavor that my pallet could not place. I did not like them, but they had full flavor which I can appreciate. The complimentary Korean Pancakes were delish... do not be detoured by the rabbit food on the plate. The service was great once we figured it out. It is not an order at the counter establishment, although that was our feel when we walked in the door and the hostess/waitress/busboy/bartender was standing at the register talking to another guest who was seated at the bar having lunch. Overall this is a gem that could easily be overlooked in a series of brick faced strip malls in COMO.

However, there was a restaurant in Columbia that served good sushi and bulgogi beef, which we planned on eating at during this trip. However, we learned they had closed. Now, when we first arrived to Columbia, we visited one of our favorite coffee shops, which is next door to this "I'M Korean" restaurant, and I didn't notice. So, the next day, when we were still in the mood for some bulgogi beef, I did a search and found this place. Naturally, found it ideally coincidental that it was next to Grind. The place is nice for an otherwise un-raved about restaurant. The ambiance is personal, and rather intimate with low lights. We arrived during the later part of the afternoon, before the closed for the afternoon, and was surprised to find not many people here. It could be due to the economy we've been thrashed into because of you know who, but regardless, it's a great restaurant that better be here when we return. Our waitress was perfect. She was friendly, and always made sure we had our glasses filled with water. She also informed us, as much as she could about what the menu had and what she thought of the place --delightful.

It's a little hidden away, but honestly, if you have your windows down, just follow the smell of smoked BBQ and you'll find it. As soon as I walked in, the smoky aroma hit me in the best way possible. It immediately made me want something off the smoker, even though I was only planning on a lighter lunch. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Grace, who was friendly, attentive, and quick to bring over a menu and get my drink started. Since it was my first visit and I wasn't overly hungry, I asked Grace what she recommended. She suggested the smoked wings, so I went with those. They came out pretty quickly, and before long I had a dozen golden-brown smoked wings in front of me. They were excellent. The wings had great smoky flavor, were cooked perfectly, and weren't dried out like smoked wings sometimes can be. The portion was generous, too. I only made it through six and saved the rest for dinner, which was a nice bonus. Overall, D. Rowe's made a great first impression. Good food, friendly service, and that amazing BBQ smell from the moment you walk in. I'll definitely be back.

I shared my food with her daughter, I felt ILL the next day- throwing up, nonstop diarrhea (Thank God I work from home), sweating and dizzy and her daughter had the some issues (just mild compare to mine since she didn't eat much as she felt the ribs were dry). I reached out to the owner, Gerald Nathan, and first he blamed covid (no I don't have covid, I even got tested as I assumed the same as first and also I am fully vaccinated), then he accuses my friend of POISONING me. I simply reached out to make him aware of the issue, and I understand I order when they were finally starting to shut down (I ordered round 7;30, they close at 8), and honestly things happen, and this was his response. this isn't a proper way to treat customers.
